[Q] Endy 2.2 flash screen ON when sms comming not working. - HTC Desire S

The same problem as in the subject. When I sign this function (information led is enable), nothing happens.
The same combination whith RunnyendeS ROM worked perfectly. Could someone try this on his endymnion v 2.2 rom?

Settings > Privacy > Message notification preview, checked?
Messages > Menu Button > Settings > Notifications > Notification preview, checked?
Settings > RCmix3D Settings > Misc Options > SMS Screen On, check then uncheck then check again.
If that doesn't work, I don't know whats wrong.

All checked and marked (unmarked too and marked again). Nothing - black screen, only notification light is blinking.

*shrugs shoulders*
I'll try to test it tomorrow, but neither my second nor third handsets have any mobile credit.

I'll be grateful

Hi there,
It won't work. Reason is in Endymion I use the stock sms app. The one from RCMix and ports, although it does allow for screen-on on receive, has other issues:
- secure box won't work
- block list won't work
- changing between these folders can lead to a state where you actually have to kill the app to get back to your inbox.
So, at least in my mind, I chose the lesser of two evils. But you can extract Mms.apk from Rcmix 4 and replace the one in endymion if you want to.
Cheers

Thanks a lot, now I know, that there is everything ok whith my rom. Anyway sms flashing in not a life and death case for me and I think that endy 2.2 is the best rom for my phone.
Peace

Help: notifications do not pop-up anymore

Hi!
When you get a SMS or calendar event or battery is running out, you get that "bubble" at the bottom telling about the event. For SMS you get snippet of it and so on.
Some days ago, my TP stopped doing that! I just got a SMS, and it made all the notification sounds and wibrates and I got the icon on top, but not the pop-up. When I click on the icon, I get the black notifications screen, from which I need to click it again, and only then I get the pop-up ballon.
How can I get it back to work as it should?
I've done some changes with Advanced Config, but nothing that relates to that. Nor do I now find anything that could relate to it. Currently I'm questioning if Advanced Config does something else than what it seems to do.... well at least I cannot think of any setting from anywhere that would have changed this.
Do I need to hard reset the phone again?
Firts try to set the default settings back in advanced config and try to use the default skin.
If that don't fix the problem then you could back up your phone, do a hard reset and overwrite the fresh install with the back up you made.

Duh!
Thanks! Had been there, but didn't see the option as I was too lazy to try to change the notification event.
But I never changed that... so I do not know how it was changed. However, no hard reset needed this time (only one so far... due GPS problems).
It appears there is a relationship with using Advanced Config here
I second that. Advanced Config is the culprit. Uninstall it, re-enable each of your notifications under settings, then do soft reset. When I had Advanced Config Installed, my device just kept unchecking the notifications boxes for no reason. I'd re-enable them and about a day later they would be unchecked again. Uninstalled Advanced Cofig and no more issues.

Little annoyances with WM 6.5

I just updated to Stock 6.5 from Stock 6.1. So far I really like the way it looks, but there seems to be some things missing.
1. I can't find the setting for "x" to close programs, so I am constantly opening task manager to close programs, otherwise they just run in the background.
2. I can't find the setting for "receive new e-mail as it comes in", so I have to manually do "send/receive" to check my hotmail.
3. Cool, there's a slide to unlock screen lock, oh wait, you have to manually set that too. I have it set to Long press end key, but still, I think it should be automatic when the screen shuts off.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
1. Taskmanager is now in Settings as an applet, you can also find the original one that drops down, saw it in the forums, do a search. Can't think where I saw it.
2. When you set up your email account, or even after, go to the following location:
Pocket Outlook > Menu > Tools > Options > pick your hotmail account > tap Send/Receive Schedule and set it to whatever time span you want.
Conversely, are you asking for Pushmail? for that you have to do the following:
Start > Settings > Comm Manager > turn on Direct Push option. From there you may have to configure your direct push based on your own needs/settings.
3. PocketShield is a usable option as are a number of other free locking options, check the forums. There's too many to give you a definitive answer as to which one you'll like.
Good luck.
slide to unlock is a good option as well for a screen lock..

I have a shortcut on my home screen for the task manager, but I would still rather have it like it was with 6.1 where you could choose to have the programs close when you press "x".

AWESOME!! Works how I would've expected it to work in the first place. Thank You!
Have you tried changing the settings in start> settings > system > task manager on the buttons tab? That is where I find that "X" to close screen.

I have tried that and it still doesn't work. You still have to either remember to close it through the programs menu or through the task manager. I'm just glad I'm not the only one having that problem.
Clock
How do I get the clock to show up all the time in the new ROM? This is very frustrating to have to go to the home screen to see the time. Any one know if it's possible?
Thanks in advance.

SK Tools allows you to do this. I think if you open up SK Tools and go to Tune Up! the System Tweaks settings page allows you to change it.
Thanks
Thanks I will try it!

Flashing light...
Does anyone know how to extend the time that the little green light blinks after a new text message has arrived, or after a missed call? I found where you's normally change it in sounds and notifications...but the option is grayed out and it's set for 5 minutes. It'd be nice to have it blink a little longer if I miss a message coming in!
Thanks!!

[APP] NoLED v6.0.19 - Use the AMOLED screen for incoming notifications

Before asking questions, please read the FAQ.
Introduction:
I saw the idea posted somewhere previously that instead of getting the capacitive lights on, we really should be putting the phone's AMOLED screen to work ! specially that it doesn't consume any backlight energy when displaying a black screen. So I developed an app that does just that: upon receiving a notification, it will display a black screen with a dot or icon somewhere in the screen. I really should put these in bullet points..
Description:
the application does the following:
1. When your phone receives a notification, it switches the screen on and displays a notification. The notification bounces around every 3 seconds (changeable via an option). This will guarantee using different LEDs so that the same ones won't be burned out.
2. You can customize whether to have a dot or an icon for each type of supported notification. Users may also customize the colors of these icons/dots.
3. NoLED will work with SMS/MMS, Gtalk, Gmail, Missed calls, Voicemail, Calendar and K-9 (email client) without any additional permissions. Any other 3rd party software (e.g. Whatsapp, Email app, Yahoo Mail and Hotmail) will need to be checked under Monitored Apps and will require granting Accessibility rights to NoLED.
4. The app runs as a service, after installing, you have two ways to activate the app. (a) by restarting. (b) by loading the widget into your home screen and clicking on it.
5. To get rid of the notification screen, you may use the home or the back key. You can enable dismissal via more keys in the Miscellaneous submenu. Once your notifications are dismissed, all notifications disappear and will not come back up.
I have also logged the touch drivers and saw that although I'm displaying a black screen and setting flags to not respond to touch messages, android is still receiving touch messages when you touch any spot on the screen. This, I imagine, consumes resources! So I disabled the touch drivers when the black screen is active. Dismissing the notifications should reactive the touch drivers. If your screen is unresponsive to touch even after the notification screen is dismissed, a simple restart should take care of it. There is also an option to completely disable that feature. The touch drivers are only disabled on the Samsung Galaxy S variants, all other devices are still receptive to touch events.
Now the touchscreen drivers were a lot easier to mess around with. The sourcecode given by samsung helped me achieve the activation/deactivation of the screen. Things are not the same with the capacitive buttons. You'll notice that when the black screen is on, if you touch any of the soft buttons, they'll light up (although am suppressing them programatically). On some other devices like the Nexus S, these backlights cannot be switched off once the screen is turned on programatically. This is a bug from Google and more info is in the FAQ.

Added Vietnamese, updated Italian and Ukranian (Thanks nhh1994, 4lex and Olex)
Support Gmail 4.5 and new tabbed inbox

NoLED Weather
v0.8 10/23/2012
Weather should now reflect current city more accurately; it will choose the first returned search result.
v0.7 10/10/2012
Weather was not automatically updating after a restart. Now it does.
v0.5 9/13/2012
Fixed an issue where geolocator was causing auto-update to stop working.
v0.4 9/6/2012
Updated language files
Changed weather provider to MSN. Google just quietly killed their APIs
Changed geolocator timeout to 90 seconds (used to be 20 seconds)
v0.3 1/26/2012
Added Geolocation using Wireless networks (no physical GPS will be used).
-it will give up wireless location discovery after 20 seconds (will release all wakelocks).
-if timedout, weather will query the latest weather location on record.
Removed the noled weather icon from the app launcher (i personally found it so ugly and useless). Instead, you access the weather app/plug-in via the NoLED settings under toggle notifications (requires NoLED > v5.0.1b).

Can this dot be made to look like a mail icon for SMS ... "!" for missed call etc?
Perfect, BIG thanks. One less issue with SGS
this is a very clever idea.

Strange, it really should work.
Did you lock the screen and unlock once after installation ? Try sending a sms to yourself from another phone while the screen is off. Then wait for about 10 seconds (enough time for the whole screen to light up, go off, and then show a notification). Let me know if this still doesn't work, the captivate might have different screen timeouts than our galaxy S.
No working
Its now working on my SGS.
The reason could be > I have lost my default notifications after sd card fix. I do have a media folder on my sdcard/sd with default samsung tones which i copied before the fix on to my ext sd.
Any solutions ?

I would say try to sms from another phone, or give yourself a missed call to see if the application is running. These should work regardless of where you placed your notification tones.
If these do work, then make sure you place your notification tones in /sdcard/sd/media/audio/notifications , playing any of them should trigger the notification.
Unfortunatly not working for me too. Using JG1 and modaco´s r2. All default ringtones selected.
Would love to get this working.

Can you go to Settings > Applications > Running Services and see whether NoLED is listed there ?
suggestions that i don't think would consume too much power:
Have different images for different notifications, as suggested before: phone icon for call, mail icon for mail, sms icon for sms etc.
Also make possible to have all the different icons at once, so if i have missed a text message and a mail, there would be 2 icons on the screen at the same time.
Also have a number for how many of missed text's, mails i have missed on the corresponding icon.
Make the image jump to a different random spot every few second, so it won't just stay in one place and so be bad for the panel. (dunno if this would consume too much energy).

I think these are two great ideas. I'll try to implement them if I get sometime. I will try to set a different icon/color for each notification, and make them move around every few seconds. This might have a hit on cpu utilization, but its well worth a try.

With what are you testing the application btw ? Are you sending an email to yourself ? If you turn the screen off, send an email that has a default samsung ringtone, do you receive anything?
I tested it with my phone at home calling my mobile. And i´m getting emails all the way but unfortunatly no red dot on screen.
Is this app in the market? I can't see it in the op on the xda app.
Now it is working. Changed the ringtone (the old one selected was also a dtandard ringtone) and rebooted.
Now it works!
How come this method got so quickly made, but the other method still isn't functional? (talking about the other thread)

well, the android SDK allows for programs like this to exist, the SDK has no APIs to support lighting up the soft buttons. that's why.
also, the drivers for the backlight are disabled and enabled in ways that we don't fully understand yet.
Very impressed so far! Definitely something I'll donate to in the future if it gets a few more features.
What I'd like to see:
- Custom colours for different notifications/multiple notifications.
- The dot slightly higher up or have it configurable where the dot is/how big it is.
That's about all I can think of for now, great work .

Notifications in CM7

I just installed the latest nightly of CM7...I thought that the buttons at the bottom would light up for notifications, but they aren't when I recieve an email...is there something I have to turn on to get that, or am I mistaken?
mm0
You have to edit it in CyanogenMod Settings
where? I can't find settings that work...for instance, I want them to blink if I get a gmail...
upon further investigation, the light comes on solid, but very faint when I get an email...what am I doing wrong?
mm0
I'm pretty sure I turned mine on in the spare parts app/setting.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
hmmm...don't see it in there...I gotta be missing something!
I think you go to Settings > CyanogenMod Settings > Interface > LED Notifications
I had the SOD issue with CM7, so I ended up loading Faux123's ROM (I know it's a lot like CM7...but thought I would give it a shot)...anyway, I figured it out. It is Settings > CyanogenMod Settings > Interface > LED Notifications, but I wanted it to blink, so you have to change the colors setting (iirc)...a little unintuitive, but it works now in the new ROM, so I'm happy!
thanks!

(Q) "Message not Sent" notification

I keep getting a "message not sent" notification every once in awhile while sending a text. It goes away after a second and the sms is sent. Is there any way that I can turn off the failed message notification in the stock ICS messaging app or fix this problem all together? thanks
Messages app > Settings > Notifications > Scroll to sent messages > Untick 'Failure Notification'
The problem is usually when you have poor signal, you could try different radios but there's no guarantee any will be better.

Insertcoin 4.4.6 with AOSP theme by shnizlon
I've had this problem with every ICS rom I've used.
I'm assuming that theme installs the Stock ICS app which may explain why the options aren't there.
On ARHD using the Sense messaging app they option to turn the notifications off are present.
