One-click root for a DROID 2 running the official Gingerbread update - Droid 2 Global General

Same as the title.

Are you looking for one? If so, Google 'pete's root tools'. It's about as one click as you can get with the d2.

I was able to root the D2G running a freshly-SBF'd .608 Gingerbread with SuperOneClick. Just google SuperOneClick.

on windows i think superoneclick is about as easy as it gets, as long as you follow the directions about when to enable/disable usb debugging if it gets stuck.
on linux i used the droid3 root tools

Ubuntu?

thanks a lot, this worked

For what it's worth, the newest SuperOneClick will work on D2G's running .608.

Hey, I'm just wondering if there have been any new developments on this. My Droid 2 Global's system version is 4.5.629.A956.Verizon.enUS

magic md5 root (my instructions) works
xda thread
or you can try
Root Droid 2 on Gingerbread 2.3.4 [WINDOWS]
I can't get it to work, but Tomsgt has a how to video
Super one click root
it's for D2 but if it works on d2 it should work on D2G

Yeah, the only real option at this point is to just downgrade to 2.2.1. Since this is my first post, I can't post a link yet, but there are a few tutorials floating around already. After I get my obligatory 8 posts in, I'll be back with a few links.
im running 2.2.1 on mine it wont root with z4....
anything else i can use to root it

Again, you just have to downgrade back to 2.2. I think that 2.2.1 doesn't really have much to offer the Vortex anyways.
I tried super unroot something , its an app that u use. On your CPU, didn't work although it has apparently worked for others running 2.2.1 ****warning ***** never try to put your vortex in recovery mode you will lose everything as have i

[Q] Will One-Click Root work?

Since the official 2.2, will the old One-Click Root work or will another one have to be written?
None of the previous methods I've tried so far are working.
Did you try the method here? I am trying to find out if it works before i try it but have not gotten a reply from anyone about it.

I am on KB1 leaked. I rooted with super one click. I tried z4root and manual rageagainstthecage exploits first, but could not get them to take.

I was able to get it rooted with SuperOneClick ! Just follow the link and watch the youtube video for instructions.
I highly doubt that any of the previous one click or for that mater any method will work. Just like with the leaked froyo from a while ago. Give it some time devs will have it working In a day or two

droid 2 sbf recovery / unroot

hi everyone, i rooted my droid 2 a couple of months ago. the phone has been freezing up so i am going to take it into verizon but i need to get rid of any evidence that the phone was rooted. i was planning on doing an sbf recovery to "unroot" the phone and go back to stock. i downloaded rsd lite 4.9 and downloaded the 2.3.20 sbf file. how should i go about doing this, do i need to use ubuntu if so how? i have two computers to do this from one with windows xp os and vista os.
Maybe an SBF will fix your problems outright, so you don't have to take it to Verizon.
It's easier to do an SBF in Ubuntu but it's not a necessity.
Make sure that you have the required Motorola drivers installed. After that you need only run RSD Lite, plug your phone in, choose the SBF file, and watch it go.
I would recommend looking up a guide to SBFing for good measure, they're easy to find, and very helpful.

[Q] Gingerbreak on Optimus 3D

I was wondering if anyone has tried or if they know if gingerbreak works on the O3D. I have unlocked Rogers O3D and was thinking of trying it out
I'd love to know the same thing
Sent from my Motorola Atrix 4G MB860 using XDA Premium App
you mean Gingerbread? right?
i think it'll be better if we wait for official 2.3.. when it arrives the developers will cook better ROMs (i hope)..
Wait until CyanogenMod comes to the O3D, it wont work right now since there's no ROM with it for the O3D, probably would start if you compiled it yourself but that's about it, it wouldn't be functional.
Im thinking he means the root app gingerbreak. The one used to root a phone via a app installed on phone. It worked for my ATRIX when I was on froyo.

ya i was talking about the root exploit. Has anyone tried it on the O3D
I think you'll find most people used superoneclick as that works just fine for root.
Doesn't gingerbreak come under super user as an option? sure i used the gingerbreak method to root my phone. can't remember where I got the software though???
Why would someone need to root the phone twice? Superoneclick works perfectly and the procedure is very easy and fast as hell.
Whenever i tried superoneclick on my comp with my nexus it always hanged. Most likely some problem with my comp so i wanted to use gingerbreak so root straight on my phone without the computer

any app like Z4root, universal root, gingerbreak for sidekick4g?

I would like links to do so/.apk. I did this to my dell streak 7 rooted with the gingerbreak1.2.apk stock works great. Any help would be nice. I like to hack game and remove bloatwear plus the other user friendly features. I don't have a computer I chose my ds7 instead of a pc. Cliq XT was first device. Any help would+1 rep.
Wow. Z4root......i havent used that sense my Droid X days. Its extremely outdated. The dev never updated the app to work with new devices so it will not work on any device anymore. Universal root is even older then z4root so that wont work at all. And gingerbreak is only for 2.3+ devices only. So no none of them will work. Sorry.

Greg
Well put, greg!
Well gingerbreak worked on my dell streak 7 stock 2.2.2 froyo so no its not just for gingerbread 2.3
Just looking for root access. I don't want to change stock software.
Arcade shopper linked you to the rooting method of the phone. Its not hard to download and press a button. Because that's seriously how easy it is.just have to have a computer. I'm pretty sure none of the market apps work to root our sidekick. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong
Sent from my SGH-T839 using XDA
I don't have a computer and just about every device you can find a .apk root app. So I ask again is their another way other than using a computer to root. NO Computer!
You HAVE TO AND NEED TO use a computer to root the SK4G. This device has no app to auto root the device for you.
UnlockRoot
UnlockRoot worked great on my SK4G - very straightforward and very effective. More stable than SuperOneClick by far.
Is unlock root a computer program or what? I used super one click at but buddies house it worked fine. Simple to download the drivers for the phone then super one click extract files and click root bam done, but and app would have been so much easier.
