I switched from an old WinMo 6.5 (Verizon Imagio) to G2x. Absolutely love it, except the battery life (there is backlight bleed too, but not too annoying).
But when I read thread here, seems my battery life is kind of okay?
1) Went to sleep at 1:20am. Phone had Gmail sync, Exchange sync every 15 minutes, News & Weather widget, and ScoreMobile widget. Checked battery at 5:40am, it was down 11%. So roughly 10% battery every 4 hours. This means 40 hours battery life if I leave the phone idle.
2) Today I wanted to drain the battery then give it a full charge. So I factory reset device twice (each time it automatically downloaded all 28 apps I installed before). A 1 minute phone call. About 1 hour web browsing. 10 minute Goolge Maps Navigation. Tweeked settings of my favorate text reader and read a novel for about 2 hours. Then watched YouTube for 30 minutes. Other time, phone was left in my pocket. Battery lasted about 11 hours.
So, is it normal battery life for G2x? With CM7, is it possible I can extend the battery life to 16 hours in scenario 2?
I think it is NOT normal battery life because when reading the novel (screen brightness at 20%), I can see 1% battery drop every 3 minutes!!! The text reader just displays static text until I flip page. My reading speed is about 2 pages/minute.
Compared to my WM 6.5 device, I barely notice any battery drain when using the same text reader app (WM version of course), same book and same reading speed.
Well people have found that the only issue with android really is the damn battery! some live through it, some buy extended batteries (like myself) and others just don't feel it since they are used to charging regularly. When compared to winmo 6.5 android is just doing so much more in the background comparitively even though winmo 6's multitasking is pretty neat. I guess other thigns to consider would be your screen resolution and that damn 14.whatever hsdpa chip you got in there!
Btw if you are using a app killer, i suggest try taking it off and see if you feel any diffrence.. i did.. i just found out the rogue app and said good bye to task killers and my battery was a little bit more promising then since it was on an aggressive kill certain app more earlier.
One thing though if you were to put the phone on a stanby time you will notice that it could really last but when doing something you can as you said practically seen it burn fuel, I guess the advancements in tech/screens/etc are just way beyond todays batteries!
I found my stock 2.1 doing much much MUCH better than CM7 or 6 even though people say Cyanogen was doing much better on some phones in terms of battery.
Can somebody post the battery life of their Vibrator compared to this phone?
I'm so mad, U mad?
I had mine off charger for maybe a total of 15mins cause I was deleting stuffoff the sdcard and battery was full it dropped 3% within 15mins
I had my myt4g with miui rom idle with wifi on for awhile yesterday and it didn't drop a % until I used it but even then it still hardly was draining. This LG drains way to fast!!
The battery life WILL improve over the first few charges. My Nexus S was TERRIBLE when I got it. 8-10 hours max. After 2 weeks or so, I was getting 25-30 hours of moderate usage.
The G2x I got ~ 14 hours of usage right out of the gate. I'm on full charge cycle 3 or 4 now, and I'm already over 19 hours. Hoping I can end up at around 25 hours or so.
The batteries AND the OS need time to 'learn' each other. The batteries need to break in as well with a full COMPLETE charge cycles. IE charge too 100% and use it until it dies, then charge fully. It also helps to leave it on the charger for about 8 hours PAST it hitting 100% the first time for some reason.
Want to get an idea of battery life with Verizon LTE on the S3. When voting in the poll please include the following of what type of user you are 1) heavy user 2) moderate user 3) barely use the phone aka mostly on standby.
I'm interested in the screen time on, not standby, and only those with LTE access.
heavy user days I get twelve hours
moderate days 15
not at all 2 days.
Heavy user I get 12 hours with 3-5 hours talk time and heavy Internet usage about 2 hours, 14-16 if I cut my talk time and Internet usage down 30% . my rezound with extended battery would last longer larger battery obviously, I think the s3 would have even better battery life if the antennas were better they are very poor compared to my rezound which makes a difference in battery life. But all in all there is noticeable difference in battery advancement with s3 I hope all phones will have battery life like s3 and better

About the same. Stock.

Moderate days, after 16 hours, I will have 45-50% remaining. (Approx. 2.5 hours screen time)
Low usage (mostly standby), I will have 85% remaining after 16 hours.
I don't use FB though.
Synergy ICS & JB
I am a new GS3 owner I am curious if these are stock battery figures or with Extended batteries?

I'd say I'm a heavy user. If its fully charged before i go to work, i dont need to charge it until after i get home(8 hr work day) and i usually plug it in at 10%. 4g, internet, Facebook, YouTube, Kindle, a lot of Google Talk. BUT I do have my screen brightness set extremely low.
Get about 18 hours. Moderate to heavy with screen on 2-2:30. Use phone for some calls, texts, check email, browse Internet, some games on occasion

If you're only interested in screen-on time, then the effects of LTE should be pretty much negligible.
Over 4hrs on Ics and 3hrs with jellybean.
Usually after about 15-16 hours off the charger I am around 45-55%
my mind is blown seeing all of your battery life's.. i get to 10 hours if i'm lucky...
on stock i would get to 12 hours (charged the phone half way through the day for like an hour)
Now that i've rooted / unlocked and flashed Liquid smooth RC7 my battery is dying so much faster.. i have sync, locations, LTE, etc off

I get from 6am to 10am and have anywhere to 15% to 30% left. Moderate to heavy use. I do charge it on my way to work for 25 minutes. Whats weird is the phone lasts longer if I do this. If I use 8-9% before I go to work then charge for 20 minutes on the way it lasts all day. I love the battery life.

If the screen is on because you are using the LTE, you are going to sap the battery much more quickly. I love the LTE, but it is not battery friendly. If you aren't using a lot of network, then you are correct. Most peoples on screen time is because they are using their network though.
Heavy use -about 1 day with 8-9 hours on screen time
Medium use- 2 days minimum
Light use- don't ever use lightly
Oh by the way, this is on an Anker extended battery

I'd say this is pretty standard for me. I don't really get to use it at work but I am pretty heavy at home.
Its a little over 3 hours screen time in clean ROM le 3.5
With heavy usage I get 10 hrs with 4-5 hrs on screen time for me, stock battery. One time I got 6 hrs out of it, this is on synergy 4.1.1 r111

Every smartphone has this thread so I thought I might start one!
This devices is famous for having below average battery life, let's find out if this got better with MM since reviews were made with LL?
Please use BBS or GSAM battery to show uptime, screen on time, wifi or mobile data (really important). Also describe your app usage.
Thanks!:good:
I've never found battery life to be all that bad. In fact, as far as I'm concerned, I find it quite good most of the time.
Personally, I find these claims you read about all the time, where people claim to get a full day (or two!), and have 4-6 hours of screen on time, very hard to believe, and I call b.s. most of the time on those claims.
As far as GSam goes, I've used it on and off throughout the years, since my OG Droid in 2010, and I found that the information in GSam differed, or contradicted the information in the stock Android battery stats, and I questioned its accuracy, so I ended up uninstalling it LOL.
In general, though, I'd say my battery life is pretty good. Here's a typical day for my X Pure, and you all can tell me if you agree or disagree:
My phone comes off the charger at around 7 AM, just before my 40 minute train ride in to the city. During my train ride, I send a few texts, then I tether my X Pure to my Nexus 9 so I can get online with the N9 during my commute. Tethering lasts about 30 minutes. After the initial train ride comes the subway ride where I use the phone for reading articles on Google Play Newsstand and checking work emails for about 10 minutes. Once at work, I leave it off the charger, and throughout the day, check emails (work and personal), send/receive texts throughout the day, miscellaneous other usage, etc. By around 4:00, I usually have to put in on the quick charger. At that time, my screen-on time is on average between 1 to 1.5 hours, with 9 hours off the charger. Usually 35-40% battery left by that time.
Now, 9 hours off the charger, 1.5 hours of SOT, 30-40 minutes of tethering, and moderate usage throughout the 9-hours off the charger, I say that's pretty damn good! Weekends I can go 15-17 hours off the charger. Thoughts?

Well tethering does use a lot of power but 1.5h of SOT is pretty bad IMHO.

Normally I would agree, but I factor in the time off the charger as well. If it was within a few hours, definitely. But over 9 hours--with moderate to heavy usage, I'm happy with that. I also forgot to mention I probably have a lot of crap going on in the background. I have 3 different weather apps right now (I'm a weather geek), one of which is a lightning strike detector that alerts when lightning is nearby. We are expecting thunderstorms later so it may keep the phone awake. Once I get through today (hopefully I will remember lol), I will post screen shots of battery usage. But overall I am happy with what I get. Over the years, I've had the OG Droid, HTC Rezound, 2013 Moto X, and now the X Pure. The Droid and Rezound's battery life was pretty bad, but has been much better with both the 2013 X and the X Pure. Maybe my standards are lower due to having 2 prior phones with notoriously bad battery life.

Yes one's impression depends a lot on what you're coming from also. You should check how much the phone is kept awake in standby

It is kept awake more than you would think, but I blame the on apps, and that's unfortunately the chance you take if you want those apps. I will post a few screen shots later this evening if I can remember.

What's up xda guys and gals? I'm at a point where I've just reached the end of my wits and I'm about to just give up entirely over this. I've spent countless hours reading, for weeks, months, and now a few years off and on trying to find a solution to this... but even with the help of some pals here on the forums, I'm at a total loss.
Ever since we went to 5.0 Lollipop, my battery drain during use (As in, general use like web browsing, messaging, reading, emailing, etc) has just become out of control. Like, I'm talking extreme and it doesn't matter what device I use O.O , Yeah... Basically, whether I am reading, emailing, browsing, I on average lose about 1% every 1-2 minutes. Phones always running hot, I've tried underclocking, minimum brightness, under volting. Nothing fixes it...
I've had this issue on:
The OnePlus One (Only after 5.0, never on KK)
The Moto X 2nd gen
The Moto X Pure
The Nexus 6p
The HTC M9
The HTC 10
The Xperia Z2 and Z3
Now...for a quick recap of what I do on my devices... I never use auto sync, everything is set to manual, location is off, location scanning is off, wifi scanning is off, bluetooth is only on while I am in the car (bluetooth use is really on 2015+), almost always manual brightness, never turned above 50%, if auto is used I still limited it to 50% as a max. No games are ever played (mobile games aren't real games), No 3D stuff, or other heavy gpu related nonsense.
With these things in mind... Here is my battery history. Only with major milestones to indicate progression.
From the first to the last (oldest to newest device)
Galaxy S2 - Average runtime of 15-17 hours with 1.5-2.5 hours of SOT. (Although 2.5 wasn't till I learned to root and used roms, so very late)
Galaxy S3 - Average runtime of 16-18 hours, 2-3 hours of SOT.
Galaxy S4 - Average Runtime of 18-21 hours, 3-4 hours of SOT
Moto X 1st Gen - Average Runtime of 19-24 hours, 5-6 hours SOT.
HTC M8 - Average Runtime of 18-30 hours, 5-5.5 hours of SOT
OnePlus One - Average Runtime of 20-35 hours, 6-8 hours of SOT. (Average was about 7, but was lower for a while when I was streaming 20GB of youtube/music a month over LTE.
What do I get currently on my newer OnePlus one? Between Cos12.1-CM13 (Tried different ones over time), a average runtime of 10-15 hours with 2-3.5 hours of SOT, 4 if I am lucky. HOWEVER...if I do not use the phone, at all, like ZERO usage it will show 1-2 days of standby, if I use it for more than 5 minutes, it will say like 4 hours.
WTF happened?
Now... the the other phones I listed above that I had the same issue with, were all mostly similar. The OPO is the only device out of that group that can go over 3 hours of SOT for me. When I had a Moto X Pure, I actually completely drained it in 3 hours and 22 minutes. As in, Not like 12 hours and then 3 hours 22 minutes of SOT, I mean 3 hours and 22 minutes of COMPLETE RUN TIME. That was just a collective of messaging, reading, browsing the web and some videos over wifi, never higher than 720p. Nothing out of my norm at all...
I went through 5 different Moto X Pure's, I just thought... "I have to have a crap one, it cannot be this bad". But I gave up after the 5th.
The only device I've used that gave me ROCK solid battery life on something running 5.0+ was the Nexus 6, It felt like a normal phone to me, but that dang ascending ringtone just killed it for me. Although now days I need waaaaaay more than 64GB, but i digress.
My question is... am I going nuts? Or did android just become extremely power inefficient after 5.0+? What happened? I just honestly cannot imagine that phones are this garbage with battery now days, I am a power user in terms of reading, messaging, and such, but I don't game or steam 1440p videos over LTE all day like some folks do. How on earth do people even use phones like that today? With all my efforts to be as battery economical as possible, it's horrible by 4.4 and under standards, what is it like for people who don't try to conserve at all? 1 hour phones? I'm seriously just at a loss...
Now, I know most of you will say "post battery stats", and I can do so if someone wishes...but it's never helped me find anything. There are no applications consuming like 80% of the power, it all just... looks normal, just Android System always around 12%-15%. I've tried multiple battery stat applications, I've sent stats to friends on xda, and so far it's just "normal". It basically feels like every phone I touch just magically has its' battery reduced to 1000 mah or something. I just... I'm seriously at a loss.
Can someone shed some light on this? Am I crazy? Or did 5.0+ just zap up the power?
Thanks
Been getting about 14 to 16 hrs of battery life and about 4 hrs of SOT for the week. Main usage is web surfing, emails, whatsapp, YouTube and music streaming, no gaming.
Two days ago, I enabled the boost+ app and optimize most apps that don't need to run at full resolution. The screen on time seems to have improved a lot. Got 5hr 56mins of SOT with 14hr 46mins battery life.
This is much better than my HTC 10 after the nougat update. SOT approx 4hrs. I have boost+ running too.
Will monitor for a few more days to see if it is a one off performance.

Pretty good life!! mine gets about 3.5 hrs SOT, and about 13 hour standby, I also have boost+ on too. Curious as to what your brightness setting is, mine about 50% with adaptive on. I am rather heavier on my battery and network, so it doesnt surprise me that you're getting better life. (mine was better when I was on holiday with a better network connection).
About 45% level with adaptive on too. I think setting boost+ to run almost every app at HD resolution, excluding photo apps, helps a lot.
Good network is key too.
I am very satisfied with battery life when on WiFi 4,5-5 hours SOT), but when on LTE I get around 3 hours of SOT. I just enabled Boost+ to see if it improves battery life at all. I don't want to enable though FullHD for apps.
Do you use location services in high accuracy mode?
Here is mine, Charged up to 96% used until now.
Battery had become a bit crazy lately after updates to tons of apps. Just updated the firmware yesterday. Will monitor again.
Hi guys, hope everyone is doing good.
I wanted to ask that from past 2-3 days I'm facing very quick battery drain on u ultra. I'm hardly getting 2.5 hrs of Sot. Phone is heating too much.
Before this I was seeing around 4 hrs+ SOT that too with 1hr+ of casual gaming. I don't know what is wrong but I'm worried. My device is heating that's all what I'm able to notice. Any suggestions are most welcome. Except this, love the device.
Thank you.
It happened to me after updates of some apps.
The only way I solved it was to shutdown the phone completely. Wait for about a minute before powering up again.
Thinking about getting the U Ultra. Do you feel that the battery life is good enough?

Actually depends on what your daily usage looks like. If I'm on holiday or the whole day at home, one charge easily lasts for 2-3 days. But at university with every sync /bt/WiFi etc enabled and 50% brightness I get about 8h with high amount of screen on time (50-80%)

I usually use the phone for 2-4 hours per day but more hours during travel.
How much does the battery drain during standby? For instance, I you leave the phone in standby during the night, how many percent does the battery decrease?
Mine loses about 4% overnight (8 hours) which I think is exceptionally good!
For me it highly depends on which ROM and which apps I have installed. Recently the battery drain was about 1%/hour (150 apps, all syncing etc on), but right now after cleaning up a bit and nstalling greenify I'm back at ~3-6% per night.
I can get the black U Ultra for €291.99 here: https://www.eglobalcentral.eu/htc-u-ultra-64gb-4g-dual-sim-sim-free-unlocked-black.html
Tested the phone yesterday at a local shop here in Sweden, felt great in the hand and I really like the design. However, the battery life may be a deal breaker. Most of the phones I have used during the last 2 years has droppped 1-3 percent during night and I usually got 6 hours SOT over 24 hours. The last phone I used with weak battery life was Nexus 6, it gave med 3-4 hours SOT during 24h and that was slightly annoying. I get the impression that U Ultra is comparable to Nexus 6 in the battery department. :-/
That's actually a very accurate comparison. I replaced my Nexus 6 with the HTC Ultra and I'm getting almost identical SOT and battery life.

I get about 24 hours of mixed usage, which means I need to charge it up every morning, but I never seem to be able to get more that 4 hours SOT. Also, the rapid charger is slower than the Nexus 6. It takes about 1 hour and 50 minutes for a full charge.
I installed and configured kernel Adiutor/CPU Kernel state #on_demand and turned off #core_4. Now my battery/system working 2 whole days before charging!
Guys if i go to optimize apps and turn it on, Wen I leave it turns off again. Is this normal? I restart the phone and I already did a factory reset because the phone was updated alot the first time I use it, but it's the same. I'm getting about 3-4 hours off sot depending on the use. Maybe less. What do you guys think?
i got 5hrs and a few mins with the first charge (light use, browsing, installing apps, tweakin settings and 35mins spotify)
