if i use this tool (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1090783) do i have to reinstall MAGLDR and so on?
or will only the firmware and user data will get ereased?
so:
if u use this toll to change the partitions, can i simply install the rom after that?
or do i have to do something else?
edit: ok it worked thank you everyone
i got it work 190MB part and 44MB cache if u are not sure use this tool - HD2 Toolkit.
First - Task29
Then MAGLDR
Then repart
Then boot into CWM and AD recovery
Wipe data - advanced - wipe dalvik
Reboot
Then AD recovery and install rom
I have tried fornow 3 roms - all have common problem - videoplay is not smooth.
all other was smooth
whats task29 and how can i do it?
Use the HD2 Toolkit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1090783
You can Task 29, repartition etc within this tool.
ok thanks, eberything works now
but videos are not smooth, any help??
Hi i have big problem. I have HTC HD2 (EU/512) i wanted to install this rom from tytung http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1930240.
I make everything everything has working i was(U been in install window where i must choose from NAND or NANDDataOnEXT or NativeSD.
I choose NANDDataOnEXT but it say error i need to create EXT4 partition so i go back and choose NAND but then i read again and its for HTC HD2 (USA/1024) its working but it have so small inter memory. How i can reinstall it this has been my first rom. I am so frustrated cant something happen to that telephone? please help me.
Hi all,
i own from almost one year a HTC HD2 T-Mobile with 1024 MB ROM, a friend of mine installed for me the: [ ROM ][4.0.4][720p] NexusHD2-ICS-CM9-HWA V2.3 (Android ICS 4.0.4) on NAND (nothing on SD).
The phone works well but periodically freeze for a some second (no spontaneous reboot) so i decided to update the ROM (i read on Official Thread that last revision is V3.0b) unfortunately i have to perform the update myself (the friend is away for jobs reasons)...
I read a lot of posts and guides (very interesting) and i think to understand almost all about correct procedure to install android from stock phone but i need to understand fully if i need to update the recovery or is enough to flash the .zip rom directly from my present recovery...
The phone info from android setting menu are:
MAGLDR 1.13
IMM76L (NexusHD2-ICS-CM9-HWA v2.3)
Leo_RADIO_2.15.50.14
Kernel 2.6.32-ics_tytung_HWA_r3
4EXT Recovery v2.2.7 RC5 with partition FS fat32, size 3789 MB, free 291 MB (4Gb microSD)
746 MB Internal Memory (?? the difference to 1024 is used for the sistem partition)
403 MB RAM (?? strange should be 512 MB)
I want to update the ROM to last revision (v3.0b) with everything on NAND i need to perform partition?? My present partition of internal memory is now correct??
In the Official Thread of th ROM is linked also NativeSD Recovery v1.0 for NativeSD users i need to install that??
Which is the safest way to update my ROM..
Thanks in advance for your attention :good:
OK I have upgraded according nexushd2android.tytung site procedure...
I performed Wipe Dalvik Cache and installed V3.0b ROM from recovery..
Everything went fine but, seem i have no more root access to phone (No Frills CPU and some Nova Launcher features that require root access are no more working)
In apps i have superuser installed and seem working...
I checked under Developer Options menu and root access is configured ONLY APPLICATIONS...
I tried all other options available (also rebooting at every change) but no root access available...
Please Help me how can i restore root to my HTC HD2 phone??

I think just because you're lazy one.
Won't more than 30s searching for the latest version, but not sure if it's the best for you.
This's my daily rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2767332

Dear ModaAli,
Have tried many Custom Roms (cm7, cm9.... till cm11 and also SuperOSR), on my HTC Chacha. Most of the Roms work, few are good and few have some bugs. All the mentioned ROMS are better in many aspects comparing to Stock but are not optimal bugfree or features when compare to Stock.
Thus, after reading a lot (doing since last 1 and half a year), finally, tried and build a MOD of stock rom with the help of DSIXDA Kitchan.
Primary aim was Stock (and Sense) features plus internal space. With the above Modded Rom, till date, I,m happy of the output. If you wish can provide you the link to that ROM. You can PM me for that.
My Rom is based on Stock (with Sense) Rom :
RUU : India 1.20.720.1
Android Version: 2.3.3 (Gingerbread)
Kernel: 2.6.35.10
Language Support: English
And is ..
Rooted
Init.d support
Busybox
and presently using it with INT2EXT (by CronMod) mod on a 768MB ext2 type partition. Thus have ample space to run WhatsApp, Viber, WSP Office, Rom Manager, Battery Meter, Twitter, Facebook, FX file manager and few more apps. But still have 300+ Mb internal memory free (which is actually ext-sd swapped with INT2EXT)

Dear Swashie,
Will upload today and will provide you the google drive link (hope this kind of links are valid).
Regards,
Ricky
Following is the link . . .
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8BfFAtUXk3iaUl0U0FpRUVXUm8/view?usp=sharing
Further, flash the above with CWM after Factory Reset, Clear Dalvik (I prefer formatting Boot, System, Data & ext-sd before flashing any rom for best results). Let it boot once. Then partition and format your ext-sd with your choice of size (mine is 768MB) to ext2 type system. Then reboot and flash the INT2EXT.zip by CronMod. This will enable internal memory to the size of partition you have chosen.
Revert for any help and will try to provide the best what I can.
Regards,
Ricky.
My friend has aChaCha with 2.5.3 version or something similar. Which ROM should i update to which would be stable for a normal user and maintenance free.
Is it easy to install ROMs in HTC. I have flashing experience only with Samsung

04. Boot the Chacha (should be running & up)
05. Power-off
06. Delete the ext-sd partition and repartition as EXT2
07. Reboot into recovery. Flash the recovery INT2EXT.ZIP (should complete without errors)
08. Reboot
09. Check the working of INT2EXT.ZIP.
It should work. If during the above process, you encounter any error, revert back with the exact error to enable assistance/help.

I tried several custom ROMs. One of the best concerning battery and memory usage was SuperOSR 2.5, but it's only Android 2.x.
For Android 4 i prefered CM 10.1 since you don't have much RAM with CM11.
However I changed back to the standard ROM now since I bought the Chacha because of its keyboard, and none of the custom ROMs had a good keyboard support. There even where problems when using the keys for dialing, re-dialing, entering numbers during a call, searching for apps in the list etc. Plus that you can't use your Facebook-Button (for flashlight in my case).
I don't even miss Android 4 - it seems that all apps I need are available for 2.3.5 so far. Latest apps will have problems with this screen anyway.

So is there a way to use this with sd card? I formatted ext2 has primary should I have made it a logical drive instead also have 100mb linux swap I think it's logical.
Also unrelated to the above is there any way to update to play store and play services to use hangouts or is 2.3 android stuck without play services? it downloads but says its not able to install. I said unrelated but maybe it is related to me using the ext2 as primary instead of logical...

Hi
My first time here.
I've seen there is a forum specifically for this buy I'm not sure if my question should go there or here.
Samsung Galaxy J5 (2015) ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries
I have a Samsung J500FN with Android 6.0.1 and I'm looking for a custom ROM that can make it last a bit longer. Here are my requirements.
I don't want to root it as that will probably not allow me to use my banking app.
I need a ROM that does not have, or allows me to remove, all the bloat that comes from factory: word, excel, weather, powerpoint, chrome, facebook, samsung's internet, etc.
I've seen that some of the available ROMs come with Android 8, 9 and even 10 but I suspect these OSs take up a lot more space. If that is so I don't want them as my mobile only has 8 GB and I don't want to have to spend my days deleting cache, memory and apps.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance, Eduardo

chill bro,
1) for banking app like sbi uno and other use magisk. its open source and works well to hide root.
2) android 7 would be great for you because samsung switched to art in it and is a lot faster smooth and consume less space and is supported by most apps.
3) i know the pain of having 8gb rom so, try to use opera mini instated of chrome and try to optimise system by removing unnecessary software using root+magisk.
4) android 9 is also good. just flash try and see if its what you need.
thanks hit like if i helped.

I would like to try Android 7 if it's lighter then Android 6 but I prefer not to have root.
I've been reading that ING app doesn't work with magisk so I prefer not to struggle there.
Why doesn't my phone automatically update to Android 7, doesn't Samsung provide for this?
Where can I download a Android 7 ROM ?

Do you think that even if it's Android 10 it will be lighter than my present Android 6?
As I mentioned I don't want to root. I see that the link you included has a GAPPs installation so I guess the Lineage ROM comes without those.
I use OpenSuse linux so I would like to install from there, any problems?
Otherwise can I do it from a Windows 7 virtual machine?

It really doesn't matter whether it's Android 10 or Android 6 or whatever version what is running. As with any Android for each app a predefined heap size ( the maximum amount of RAM the app can allocate ) exists which is passed through configuration properties inside Android's build.prop file. Usually, heap size is relative to the RAM size of the Android device. So, an Android device with 1 GB of RAM will normally have a heap size of 128 MB and a device with 2+ GB RAM a heap size of 256 MB.
Assuming Android OS itself is eating 500 MB RAM to properly run, then on your phone can - at maximum - run up to 30 apps using 256 MB ( large-heap-size ) simultaneously.

Thanks for your reply.
What I meant by lighter refers to the scarce 8 Gb on my device, not the RAM. With only 8 Gb there is a very low limit to the amount of apps I can install. Maybe with Lineage there is more of those 8 Gb free.
And that takes me to the Gapps packages. When reading the link for Gapps it offers various packages and I'm a bit lost as to which I should download.
Open Gapps for LineageOS 17.1 GSI build: Download
Open Gapps for Android 10
ARM: Download Open Gapps 10 ARM Zip
ARM64: Download Open Gapps 10 ARM64 Zip
BiTGApps for Android 10 Custom ROM | Link
GApps for LineageOS 17 | Link

I've downloaded the Lineage ROM file and have a doubt about the name of the file and whether it's valid for my model. The name of the file is
lineage-17.1-20201213-UNOFFICIAL-js01lte.zip
What worries me is the "...js01lte" part.
My mobile is SM-J500FN, also "j5nlte"

ok, I think I'm almost ready to flash my first ever custom rom.
I've been reading to understand what I'm getting into.
One doubt. It seems that TWRP is capable of installing the custom rom without me telling it what partition it should be flashed to.
My question, if I want to flash a Samsung stock ROM can I also use TWRP or must I use Odin or Heimdall and flash it to the appropriate partition?
BR, Eduardo
Before I proceed
Installation instructions state "Then, select the System, Vendor, Data, and the Cache partition and perform a right swipe to format the selected partitions."
My device doesn't show the vendor partition.
Is it ok to proceed ?

Still insstalling? I think lineageOS is not the right solution for you. I got the same phone and made it work by disabling bloatware.
Hi Kurtin
from what I've learnt until now disabling bloatware doesn't free up any space, it just doesn't show but it's still there.
You need to see the partitions separately. The stock version of each app is stored in system partition. That is no problem. You can't use free space in system partition.
Our problem is data partition. Each enabled app will try to store it's data and updates in data partition. That makes the device unusable.
I think I understand what you mean and therefore installing a different ROM won't help unless it changes the partition setup.
Thanks for your support.

Installing a different ROM will help. Custom ROMs usually have less bloatware that occupies data partition for updates.
Same effect as disabling apps in stock ROM.
Hi
our exchange started when you stated "I think lineageOS is not the right solution for you. I got the same phone and made it work by disabling bloatware."
Can you propose a better custom ROM that addresses our needs or didn't you explore that track?
