[Q] Htc chacha stuck on boot screen - HTC ChaCha

My ChaCha is stuck at HTC boot screen. i have done factory reset, battery pulls and installing ROMS to no avail. I keep getting errors while trying to install the stock ROMS. Am I going about it the right way, trying to find ROMs or Is there something else I can do to solve this problem.

Yes, I have root and can boot to recovery. I already tried clearing the dalvik cache and factory reset. i also restored from a Nandroid backup, all this to no avail. The boot loop problem still persist.

i also tried flashing ROM but all the ROMs i got gives one error or the other. I really need help.

[Q] Stuck at HTC booting screen after flashing Cm9 alpha4 or aokp

Please help. When i first received my HTC One X, i had it rooted and the boot loader unlocked. TWRP recovery is also installed. The first thing i did was flash Clean Rom 3 LE and it booted up and was working perfectly. A few days later, i attempted to flash Cm9 alpha4 and after telling TWRP to reboot, it would just sit at the HTC screen for over twenty minutes. I tried restoring my backup and re downloading the file but it still failed. At this point i had just thought that it must be an issue with the rom on my phone, so i downloaded aokp rom from rootzwiki. I did a factory reset and cleared my caches, but it would then get stuck at the HTC screen, and then proceed to the recovery as if i had never flashed the rom. Any help is really appreciated. Thank you
If nothing else work, you can run one of the RUUs. But it will wipe data, and you will need to root, unlock bootloader (?) and install recovery again.
Thanks, but I am able to plug my phone into my mac and get to the recovery via terminal. I can then flash Clean rom and it will boot up and work fine. I'm wondering if this is an issue flashing any non-Sense based roms.
I've Flashed miui and cm9 and aokp with no problems. Did you flash the ones found in our development section? The ones in the International section won't work.
Try redownloading the zips. Make sure you wipe everything a couple times.
In the TWRP recovery wipe menu select cache, factory reset, and system then install CM9. This should fix your problem.
I flashed the ones found in our development section. Is there any extra step that I have to take. I did a factory reset, cleared my cache and dalvik cache, and then flashed the rom. I then cleared my cache and dalvik cache and then rebooted.

I don't think it's casuing the problem but the 2nd cache and dalvik clearning aren't necessary.

Still not working, but thank you for the advice. If it helps any, its stuck at the first HTC screen where it tells you in red that the software is for development purposes only.

Ive never taken a logcat before, so Im sure i must have done something wrong

Ok. Flash a rom you know works. Get the phone running then do a fresh download of cm9 alpha 4. Before you install it do a backup in recovery in case it's borked again.

if it's LOCKED that's probably your problem. Unlock it. There's no reason to re-lock it anyway.

EVO LTE problem on install of custom ROM

I unlocked my bootloader, installed twrp recovery, and rooted obviously. I then backed up and installed the 9-6-12 build of CM10 nightlies for Evo lte from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1851912
Before installing I did a factory reset/wiped caches,
Now it boots up and gets past the HTC logo but then it just goes to a backlit black screen indefinitely. I left it for 30 minutes in case it was just booting really slowly.
Does anyone know what could be going on? I really want to try CM10.
I will give so many thanks to anyone who helps!

Try another clean install. You could also try wiping the dalvik cache after flashing (before rebooting).

You could try flashing with a different recovery (if available for your device).

I don't know why it would be a recovery problem but I guess I could try it if all else fails. You both get some thanks for help =)

Camera on AOSP ROMS

Hey guys, I have a problem with my camera on every aosp ROM I've tried. I don't know what's wrong with it, on opening the camera app it gives me "camera error: can't connect to the camera" I've tried reflashing the roms and everything but to no avail, maybe someone can help me? Thanks in advance!
If you are s-on, did you flash boot.img using fastboot?
Did you do a factory reset (in recovery, not in bootloader) and wipe cache before installing each new custom ROM?

I'm s-off so I don't need to flash the boot.img and yes I've tried full wipes and wiping the caches but nothing seems to work, I'm going to restore a backup of viper and see if it's working on that ROM.
Edit: No go on viper either, I'm not sure what's happening.
Maybe RUU and start over again?
If that doesn't fix it, might be a hardware failure.

Yeah I'm gonna try to RUU today and see how it goes.

[Q] Stuck on Samsung logo

I have a friend who has the Skyrocket.
He is rooted and has TWRP installed, but he is still running the stock rom and kernel.
Today his phone randomly rebooted and now it is stuck on the samsung logo. We have been able to take out the battery and boot into TWRP no problem.
We do have a backup from a while back and he is also considering trying a new rom at this point, but we'd like to be able to get this to boot.
Anyone have any ideas on how to get this thing to boot? What could have caused this?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
If the backup is a nandroid backup made in twrp restore that in twrp

We do have a twrp backup and can restore it, but we're hoping to find something that will fix the boot issue.
Do you think it could possible fix the problem if we flashed a new kernel and then tried to boot? Can't hurt, right?

You could try the kernel our you could also try wiping just cache and dalvik. I assume you're trying to save the data.

We aren't trying to save the data. We already have a backup. We're trying to get this thing to boot without flashing a new rom or reverting to a backup.

read the stickys, this one is right above your post, short answer wipe caches and if still a no go then do a factory reset, still a no go then restore, still a no go then read the sticky

[Q] Will a phone Reset make me lose Root?

I'm having an issue with an app and I've tried everything I can think of to troubleshoot it, Uninstall/re-install. Turn phone off/on, restart phone.
I was thinking of trying a reset on my phone, but it's currently rooted/unlocked.
Will doing the reset under settings give me any issues?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you
If you have a custom recovery installed like twrp or cwm you can do a full wipe from there and it will essentially do the same thing.
sent from my VenomOne M8
No it wont.
I also have the same question. Did you do the reset? Lose root? What happened?

Yes it will. And if you think it won't a little more elaborate post would be helpful...... ?????
I would not do a factory restore from Settings with a custom recovery installed. I have never tried this on the M8 but on the Transformer tablets that can get you into a nasty "forced reboot to recovery" loop.
If it's an app causing the problem, just do a Factory Wipe in recovery. In TWRP the Factory Wipe will wipe all your apps and their data (not your personal files in data/media though) and also cache and dalvik. Not sure how CWM handles that option....
Read the recovery log while it's running or save the log from the Advanced option and check afterwards which partitions the recovery wiped.
For good measure re-flash the rom and you should be good to go.
