I have devloped a simple stats app in app inventor and it runs rather well on my droid 3 and rooted nook color both on ginger bread. However, it seems that when installed on honeycomb devices it slows to the point of crashing. There are a bunch of buttons that have to be drawn which causes a slight delay when starting on the aforementioned devices but nothing intolerable. Is this a common problem with honeycomb and apps made on ai or is there an easy solution to fixing this problem?
Also is there a way to exclude devices running honeycomb from seeing the app in market. I use app to market to sign and publish the app so I can set a min sdk version, but don't know how to exclude or set a max.
any help would be great thanks.

Yes you can.
But you have to make 2 versions.
One with maxsdkversion = 10 and the other one with minsdkversion = 14.
This would exclude all devices with honeycomb 3.x

This. You shouldn't need to be manually closing apps. If you've got some app that tries to stay running (not merely open!) in the background misbehaving- uninstall it and replace it with a better app!
If you're always force closing tasks that are in the background, you'll hurt Android's performance and battery life!
Google rolling out new market,

Looks like I will have to wait a little longer for google movies.
looks pretty sweet I guss well have to wait for the movies though:/ but is it just me or is it a little bit laggy?
it looks like not optimized for tablet, how can I revert to stock market app?

Does anyone who's used the new market know if Google have improved
a) The damned search engine
b) A way of differentiating "tablet optimised" or "universal" apps from phone only ones?
(I know it'll probably be redundant by the time Ice Cream Sandwich comes out - but still)
I see movies on my phone

Has anyone tried it who is not rooted? While using temp root on my evo3d I don't have the options for movies but as soon as I reboot and loose temp root I do.
May be the same with our tablets. The movies only show without root.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
Ok, I was able to verify that even without Root that the movies don't show up on the tab.
This is a bit frustrating.
On my EVO 3D that had temp root, the new market simply had no spot for the movies but I remembered that Google said rooted devices wouldn't be able to use that function. I then rebooted my EVO 3D and voila, I now am able to preview/rent movies on the market so I was hoping that you guys just had not tried that yet here since there is already permanent root for the transformer.
How is this not an option on our tablet? I don't get it.
There is an article that was written a couple of months ago about Google Movies which might be of interest for some people.
The new market is supposed to be for phones. http://android-developers.blogspot.com/2011/07/new-android-market-for-phones.html Read the title.
I have a rooted MT4G and the new market works just fine. I even have the movies tab, btw I like the new market, it looks great.
How is working on the TF ?
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
This works great on my Samsung Fascinate and looks nice. Haven't tried it on my TF yet but will later today.
Hey the next market is for phones. Wouldn't install it on your tablets, it's not even tablet optimized. Step backwards.

Is working super great on my TF so I recomend.
Its working better than the original.
You can unistall if you want to dont replace your original when you install so that means that you will have 2 markets.

Whats all this business with honeycomb app compatibilty issues? Are u saying ONLY honeycomb apps work on a honeycomb tablet? Please help
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
No, any app from android cupcake (the first public android release) to gingerbread will work on honeycomb. The only problem is some of these apps designed for smaller screens will only use a small portion of the large tablet screen. On the new android honeycomb 3.2 a zooming app feature was developed that will zoom in on these apps to fill in the whole screen. It may leave a pixelated look though. Either way any app will work on honeycomb but it may not look ideal.
P.S. If this helped anyone please hit the thanks button

Hi all
Yesterday I was browsing the market in my web browser on my computer. I was not signed in. I came across an app (actually a LWP) i was interested in (Digital Hive Free LWP) Fired up the market on my Xoom, searched for it, and it didn't show up!? There's a free and paid version of this LWP. The paid version shows up, but not the free version. Why would that be?
Bone stock Xoom. Updated to 3.2.1 OTA. Non-rooted. USA Wifi only model.
ETA: Also, when i search for "digital hive" on my Xoom in the market, it lists 2 apps, but in the top right corner it says there are 5 results. What's going on there? I've noticed that with other searches as well - It would say there are X results, but show me less than that. Is that an issue with the market? Is it because i'm not rooted?
It's the new market causing the issue.

Well, I have one of the newer versions of the market (3.1.5???) and I could find the free version of the digital hive lwp.
It may be more related to the Honeycomb version you have...I'm on 3.2. As you know the developers have to "qualify" their apps for new updates to the OS.

Through the web market i was able to determine that the digital hive lwp free version apparently is considered to not be compatible with my Xoom Odd...
Just found out they changed the density or resolution to our xoom! That's what's causing market issues with apps missing.

Well, at least that's easy to change if you're rooted.
Turns out the new market has a changed copy protection in it. Not density after all. Now how do we get the old market back?

Yup guys you can change your system animations:thumbup: via this app u am not the developer I just support this app and would like to share this one with you guys
Description:
This app will make Theming your phone as easy as tapping on a button. The concept is easy:
You tap the MOD you want, and Framework Tool will apply it for you. Currently there are about 40 functions, such as animations, dialogs, backgrounds and other aspects of your phones or tablets system, but it is in beta state, and more will be added in the next hours, days, weeks, months. Now it is your turn! Take control of your phone and make it fit to your mood and style, use hot features as the possibility to use your own backgrounds (in the Settings application as an example) for the system (3.0+), with just a few taps, and no computer required! This application needs ROOT ACCESS and R/W on /system ! This App can now run on versions below 4.0, BUT all modifications are designed for Android 4.0, so they may not work as intended on versions below that!
Warning: Framework Tool does change framework files which may not be compatible on some ROMs or devices. Always make a backup before installing and use at your own risk.
Here's the Link

Please press thanks if I helped you

No it just changes system animations it must have happened if you have chosen a heavy animation on a mid end device
Well I don't think the Gnex is a mid end device... And the only change I made is activity switching to ios sliding.

Bad luck then try applying animations again or instead try a reboot I have always used it on a fresh flash so it was never the case for me
I advice you to use it on a new flash...
You can also set the speed for animations using Framework Tool, in case you they are to slow for you. On start screen open menu and then you will see.
Thanks for yor responses guys.
I don't mean the animation is slow, I mean it takes a lot of time (3 or 4 seconds) to start the animation. Once started, it goes smooth.
This happens only sometimes. I'm trying to figure if this issue is ROM related (pa 3.1). I'm going back to aokp and try again.
Thanks!!

Technically, android waits for the app you touched to draw the first image, then animates to it.
Another thing: You are on Android 4.2 right? Then the changes Framework Tool applies to the framework (in the aspect of app start animation) are "ignored".
The only impact on performance is if you change the "standard background", if it is very high-res, if will definatly have an impact on performance.
Sincerely,
Janis Elfert (dev of Framework Tool)
PS: As always, if you like my app, make sure to rate it!
works awesome!

If you haven't already, leave a nice rating at the Play Store. It would be very nice, cause it's rating will jump to 4.00 then !
It works most of time for me.
