2.3.6 official gingerbread wifi issues - Samsung Infuse 4G

Since update when phone screen timeout so does wifi. After screen is unlocked it reconnects. Annoying when you want to stream music, and don't want screen on all the time. Tried menu wireless, wifi settings, advanced, never sleep. No dice.
Any suggestions or fix?

did you tried rebooting after you changed the wifi setting to never?

I have the same problem. I'm using CM7.
I rebooted my device after changing the settings to 'never'.
It still puts wifi to sleep after the screen goes to sleep.

It only happens every once in awhile for me using stock official. Hopefully they'll have it fixed when they release it again.

Hmm...I'm just seeing these update threads. Were these pushed out automatically, or did you guys deliberately try to update? I didn't get any note that an update was available.

Yes I rebooted, hope there is a fix it's annoying! If there is one please let me know!
And yes you have to manual update with kies mini

Two weird problems

When I started using my Charge today, I discovered two odd problems with it.
Firstly, when I press the lock button (from a locked state), the screen starts dim and then brightens. When the screen is dim, it is completely unresponsive until it brightens about a second later. This isn't particularly horrible, but it is kind of annoying.
Second, I can't rotate my phone anymore. I've checked the settings and the notification tray and they both have auto rotate enabled. It isn't tied to any app as it happens accross the phone.
Both of these issues started today and I didn't make any big changes to my phone. I'm running GummyCharged 1.9.1 (flashed the full Odin) and I'm planning on just flashing it again if no one has any ideas to fix this. Thanks for any help!

The dim would appear to be normal as my phone does it as well although I wouldn't say it takes a full second before its responsive.
As for auto rotate, try deleting ms3c_yamaha.cfg from /data/system and reboot.

I added .bak to the end of the file, rebooted, and both problems are fixed. The screen is still dim and then brightens upon hitting the lock button, but it is now immediately responsive.
Thanks for the help!

[Q] WIFI issues on CM7

i'm having weird issues with wifi on my infuse...
with all the other roms i've tried so far the wifi signal has stayed pretty solid, but with the compiled CM7 rom wifi stops working if the phone sits idle for any random amount of time. sometimes it works after the phone sits for 30 minutes +, sometimes it dies if i just lock and unlock the screen..
any tips? what information can i provide to help?
bumping up
having the same issues, anyone got some info?
Go to wireless settings, then wifi settings, hit menu, advanced, then change sleep policy to never. For some reason cm7 doesn't default to this. Should help

Bump
I tired the sleep policy set to never but it still drops off at random.. Anyone else know of another solution?

My problems are somewhat similar on the newest CM7. Mine is stuck on "obtaining IP address, then my WIFI says "disconnected" then it reconnects and still says "obtaining IP address". Please help anyone...!
Just to add too, I have reflashed the rom 2 times same problem each time.

This does seem to help a lot! Thanks!
I think others might be having a different issue.
For me, this fixes everything!

Wifi problems can't figure it out ideas would be much appreciated

I'm on the skyrocket and I have ran just about every ROM on here at some point and a while back my wifi started acting up randomly. By acting up I mean it would shut off and either attempt to turn on and end up in error or it would turn on after much longer than normal and start scanning but never finding any network then turning wifi back off. I tried all the usual methods of fixing things wipe cache and dalvik reboot, some times would work. Reinstall ROM, kernal, modem...works every time...for a while. Now on ics thought everything was ok then it happened out of no where like always... No wifi. Upgraded to mhx superlite 4.0 and hoping for the best. Thanks in advance

Do you have logging enabled on your router? Seeing any logs that are happening while the router is on/the phone isn't connecting could be useful
I do not but I'll have it ready for next time my wifi stops again could be today could be a week it's very random

Actually three only logs I could find on my router were "event logs" and nothing showed up from my phone when it was last having wifi problems

darkside x 2 > odin stock > odin cwm > darkside > favourite rom + kernel. If that doesn't fix it u have a hardware problem
I've been trying to avoid Odin a I'm not very familiar with it I've only used it once or twice but never in my skyrocket but if this problem doesn't stopthat's my last option I believe... I've been hoping it's not hardware but we will see

Odin CWM?
Hi, I'm facing wifi issues as well. I'm a very new android user. I'm running SKY ICS and it was running great until this morning. I have lost wifi. Nothing has changed with my phone to explain this change in behavior.
Behavior:
Wifi is turned off.
I go in to turn it on, it will show the "turning on..." message in settings and will then show checked. Wi-Fi networks will then show "Scanning" and then wi-fi shuts off.
I had Wefi Pro installed and uninstalled it thinking that app may have caused a problem, but the behavior persists.
I have found Darkside and Odin via search, but can't find Odin CWM. Can someone provide a link? Thanks!

I've noticed that my wifi issues are associated with Juice Defender. It works good for a while then starts acting up. I tweek it. It runs better then acts up. Then I reflash and start over. Need something other than Juice Defender. I suppose I could probably do the same power saving actions with Tasker... but it's more work than I feel like doing.

I use juice defender and never had a problem. Check the wifi settig inside the juice defender profile that's responsible for re trying wifi connection if it fails. That's probably what's set to a high number.
Also, for the OP... Do you have any other wifi devices on your network that behave this way? And do you use juice defender as well?

It was only my phone that acts up my fiancé's phone never has a problem neither do my lap tops but I had found that I could toggle my data, Bluetooth, and GPS on and off a few times and sometimes reboot and wifi would start working again but i'm on a brand new skyrocket now cause I kinda bricked my first one the other day...haven't had a problem with this one yet but I haven't even rooted it yet either so we will see how it goes later on

Soft button lights on ICS rom

Since I can't ask in the developer section yet... I came from GB rom that started wigging out after being installed for about 6 months... Just put Twisted's ICS rom on the phone this past Saturday and I'm LOVING it so far. SO smooth and quick.
But I've noticed that the soft buttons never light up, ever. Is that something to do with the leak of the rom or am I missing something?
Thanks
It happens. Sometimes they will come back on by themselves with the brightness low enough. It's a cyanogenmod thing.

Just turn off auto brightness and turn it back on. Should turn back on then.
Sent from my SHIFTAO5P using Tapatalk 2
And do a Google search you will find how to adjust the levels for the buttons in the display advanced settings.

Toggling auto brightness worked like a charm not sure why I didn't think of doing that to start with, lol
Thanks!

[Q] no vibration at all

Okay so yesterday I was sitting around playing on my phone, I set it down to go do some stuff and when I came back I realized that I had missed calls, texts, etc all from when I was actually using it.
I have gone through every vibration/ sound setting, turned them all on and off and still nothing. There is no vibration what-so-ever for anything. No haptic feedback, notifications or anything.
I am running JB 4.1.1 rooted but with stock everything and have never changed anything with the system(kernals, roms, all that stuff). Im starting to think its a hardware issue.
Any help is appreciated,
TPerk
Have you rebooted? Does it vibrate when you immediately turn on the phone, before it boots into android? This happened to me for a day and nothing I did would fix it, and then it randomly came back by itself...I do have a CLNR so I think it's not too far from crapping out permanently.

No vibration at startup makes me think it's definitely a hardware problem. The next thing I would do is Odin back to stock. If it still persists for a day or so, I'd see what I could do about a replacement.
