Soft button lights on ICS rom - Thunderbolt General

Since I can't ask in the developer section yet... I came from GB rom that started wigging out after being installed for about 6 months... Just put Twisted's ICS rom on the phone this past Saturday and I'm LOVING it so far. SO smooth and quick.
But I've noticed that the soft buttons never light up, ever. Is that something to do with the leak of the rom or am I missing something?
Thanks

It happens. Sometimes they will come back on by themselves with the brightness low enough. It's a cyanogenmod thing.

Just turn off auto brightness and turn it back on. Should turn back on then.

And do a Google search you will find how to adjust the levels for the buttons in the display advanced settings.

Toggling auto brightness worked like a charm not sure why I didn't think of doing that to start with, lol
Thanks!

Wont sleep when unlocked

I've been having a strange issue where my epic won't sleep when I press the power button. When the phone is locked it works fine but once I unlock it I have to wait for the phone to sleep by itself.
I was using syndacite rom when it happened but now that I switched to baked snack 1.5 the problem is still here. (Both wonderful roms btw)

I would start with checking out Spare Parts (on the market)-- whether a running app is the culprit or not. There's also an "end button behavior" setting that you can take a look at in there, although, I haven't had that problem since my Moment.
Yo...thanks homie. It definitely was the end button thing in spare parts.
You rock

4 buttons below

Hey guys really sorry if this has been answered before. This is my first time owning an android phone. And i was wondering if those 4 button timing of staying lit could be canged.
By an app or anything coz its kinda driving me crazy lol it switches off so quickly. Tried keep the lights on app, had a chat with the developer but it doesnt support the SGT.
Thx in advance

On my tab I can go Menu-Settings-Display and set the buttons for 6 seconds, on at night and never on.
Does that help?
Uhm i dont see a setting with that options. All i see is how long the screen will stay lit but nothing for the 4 dock buttons.

ok, it's Menu- Settings- Display Settings- Touch Key Light
I have the Korean version, so that may be the difference
Strange the Euro version does not have the "Touch key Light" settings, at least in all the firmware versions I have tried.
They are badly needed. The button lights are far too bright at night and don't stay on long enough during the day. An option to keep them permanently on or off is really needed.
I really want this to, the timeout is really to short, and it would be great to have a setting for timeout and light brightness.

I got mine in singapore and sadly no such option :-(

What's your firmware version?
It seems just only the Korean firmware has this option.
Same here with jj1, doesn't have that feature..
All i see is p1000dxjj2 and firmware 2.2

Hope this helps:
Model Number
SHW-M180S
Firmware version
2.2
Baseband Version
M180S.EA11.1208.ST
Kernal Version
2.6.32.9
[email protected] #1
Build number
FROYO.EA26
Hopefully the rest of the world will get this option one day. I assume we can't flash the Korean hardware to our EuroTabs?
But hope some dev can compile this with the existing cooked roms

Home/menu/back/search buttons rarely backlit

My buttons are rarely backlit...any ideas? Anyone else have this? Its been that way on stock and cyanogen pre-releases.

Its been an issue for me with the CM7 pre-releases. You sure they're acting funky with the stock rom?
They seem to work at times then don't work for awhile, regardless of rom. Right now they are working, earlier not so much.

Mine are working fine on virusrom .. not at all on CM7 pre release though
Sent from my Thunderbolt using XDA app
it works, it just has to be very dark.. this is done to save battery, but try covering the proximity sensor... i thought mine broke too
Yeah I am noticing that it has to basically have no light, needs adjusted a little or needs manual adjustment method

i don't seem to have any issues with the backlights on those buttons with ThunderKANGs CM7...
Even when I cover them in the CM7 re-alpha, they still don;t light up. Doesn't matter to me, just confirming it.

Two weird problems

When I started using my Charge today, I discovered two odd problems with it.
Firstly, when I press the lock button (from a locked state), the screen starts dim and then brightens. When the screen is dim, it is completely unresponsive until it brightens about a second later. This isn't particularly horrible, but it is kind of annoying.
Second, I can't rotate my phone anymore. I've checked the settings and the notification tray and they both have auto rotate enabled. It isn't tied to any app as it happens accross the phone.
Both of these issues started today and I didn't make any big changes to my phone. I'm running GummyCharged 1.9.1 (flashed the full Odin) and I'm planning on just flashing it again if no one has any ideas to fix this. Thanks for any help!
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA App
The dim would appear to be normal as my phone does it as well although I wouldn't say it takes a full second before its responsive.
As for auto rotate, try deleting ms3c_yamaha.cfg from /data/system and reboot.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk
I added .bak to the end of the file, rebooted, and both problems are fixed. The screen is still dim and then brightens upon hitting the lock button, but it is now immediately responsive.
Thanks for the help!

What do you have against that tip that I told you?
Turn off auto brigtness and then act like you are pulling the menu. Wait until the bottom part show and then slide your finger left to right along the notification bar. Voila. Watch the brightness change

Oh comon.. but isn't that cool! When I was first trying to hack my phone I landed on some variation of samsunginfuse.com and that was one of the tips that I picked up there. Really glad that I did. Our phone seems to be one of the only ones that it actually worked on. But I know what you're saying. You want it the way it should be. I got it. I personally just hate auto brightness. And it pisses me off the way that browser completely has it's own settings. Yes, I know that you can download a separate broswer just pisses me off.. ranting woops.. I do that a lot when I can type quickly on the computer.
If you want it auto, flash something else...

Ya I don't think auto works as well for this cm.
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium
I like cm7 too,by the way,do you have a status bar icon shake problem?Just the battery and time.
I always have brightness on full with auto off. However, if the display is on for an extended time the display will dim. Then going to the brightness settings I see the message that dismay was dimmed to prevent battery over heating.

I used to have this problem a lot of stock froyo.. when I was running a lot of flash.. You have this on gb with nothing special running?? w0w...

This happens on my infuse with Zeus 5.2 using Tapatalk, browsing the web, checking facebook occasionally. Happens on my daughters infuse running stock Froyo. Never have timed how long before the dimming... maybe 45 min. or more.

Wow. That sucks bro. Doesn't happen here.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using Tapatalk
It doesn't dim much, about like it would if I had auto brightness enabled. Overclocked to 1.6 probably doesn't help. My battery temp is only at 98.6 after a good 30 min on Tapatalk. Never really timed how long before it dims.
On another note, I can't believe the difference in speed from Froyo to this Rom. Using Zeus 5.2 with ICS theme. Used UOT kitchen to change my battery indicator.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using Tapatalk
One last comment, then to bed. My display hasn't dimmed yet after being on all this time and temp still at 98.6. Maybe I was running more than I realized the few times it happened. Anyway, thanks for the conversation.
