[Q] [Help thread] How to know which is HTC sensation board - HTC Sensation

Hi guys !
I just had an accident and my phone was shock badly .
After a few day , It has proplem with calling and sms . I think it is because of the antena . I took it to a Repair Center and they said the motherboard was badly damaged and they couldn't fix it . So I have to pay 340$ for a new motherboard .
Would you guys please tell me how to know that board is orignal of HTC and How to know if it has 4G ? Cause my phone is Sensation 4G .
Thanks for reading my post .

tip.
buy from ebay then you can always send it back and i dont think someone will sell a 3g if they advertise a 4g. with the power of the buyers nowadays on ebay sellers are carefull not to get negative feedback so you should be fine. infact i wouldnt buy a motherboard i would buy the same phone with a broken screen or somethingfrom ebay then you will learn how to take mobo out of the broken phone first without trying it out on yours

Thanks for your help . But the problem is I'm in Vietnam and Ebay or Amazon will hardly ship stuff to Vietnam for some reasons

Did you bought it brand new at HTC branch in Vietnam? They should offer warranty for it.

You're seem like Vietnamese . Me, too . hehe . My brother bought it in the US and gave it to me . It's also T-mobile's phone so there's no warranty in Vietnam for this sensation .

Could anyone please tell me how to know the board is HTC original

Well that sux...ask your brother to get you a new second hand on craiglist it's cheap around 250.00 like new, it's better than paying over 300 for it..it's not worth it.
Or you can wait till summer when i'm on vacation, I go back to Vietnam every year. Lol

Exchange with t-mobile

I brought this mytouch off Craigslist by trading with my G2. The phone is starting some problems as with not turning the screen on when after a phone call and I got the bad screen on it.
Now I don't know if this phone is stolen or not or the person got it from the insurance by claiming Its lost.
Now do you think T-Mobile will exchnage it? I can't deal with the screen not turning on anymore so yeah.

I am sure this is the reason the owner sold it in first place, I bet the person gave you lame story about how he changed carrier or got it as gift or some BS and he already has something lol so he didn't need it.
This is why I warn folks about buying jack from eBay or Craigslist when first batch came out month ago that means alot of inferior device that shouldn't have passed QC got though. Your best bet is going via HTC device warranty as TMo itself will not honor yours as they have no proof of this device was valid transaction linked to your account. Also the remorse period is only though TMo not by 3rd party individuals.
Thanks for the reply Mr.HKM, He told me he had 2 of these and he wanted to get rid of it so I'm guessing he used the insurance company to get another by saying it was lost.
Is it worth a shot with T-Mobile? or Should I call up HTC tomrrow and see what they can do? The thing is, I don't want to be left phoneless though, that's the only thing that's going to be bad for me.
Would my best bet be selling it back on Craigslist and getting another one?
I bought my HD2 off craigslist and transfered my insurance to it by calling tmo and asking them if I could. It was originally the insurance I had on my touch pro 2. My nexus one was insured by that other company.
I never had to use it on the hd2 so I don't know how that would work. After I bought the MT4G I had the guy at the store transfer my insurance to it.
Its worth a shot calling tmo. From my experience they are wing willing to work with you.

Maybe prick got it buy one get one free though adding family members with contract. Best place to buy it now is though TMo as like you I also considered buying it via CL/eBay but after I saw the rate of bad display, ffc, creaky buttons I decide it to just shall out the full $450 and get it without contract. Didn't want the hassle as I lost my HD2 and was left with dumbphone lol trust me its no fun.
Well this is what you can do just skip it all as TMo will not help you so just contact HTC rep and request RMA for it. While you are sending it go to local TMo store and get "loner" phone while its taken care of. You can contact the seller but I am sure the prick will ignore you as kid will be like its your problem now.
Update: Do as MvP77 said then first with TMo it won't hurt long as you get it taken care of if not then you become the prick and get it of your hand ASAP by selling it to someone else lol
Ugh I looked at T-Mobile website about device warranty under T-Mobile and it looks like you cannot transfer warranties from another customer. Pretty much bumed out at this point.
Should I post of on Craigslist asap and get rid of it and buy another one and risk getting a **** screen and or just keep this?
I flashed iced galicer on it and the screen comes on after a call so I'm just worried about the screen for now.

I have known and helped people who bought through ebay or craigslist get a replacement through T-Mo. It's not a fool proof way but it has worked for some.
First thing is hopefully you are a T-Mo customer? Then don't use the online chat, call them on the phone. Just ask for Tech support. Here is what you are trying to accomplish, you need to get your IMEI # in their system to have a chance. So since this device came out with a OTA (Over the Air update) the same day it launched it is a plus for you. If your IMEI # is not in the system you will never get the update. So when you call and get to the rep just explain to him you are having some problems with very poor battery life and your video chat is not working properly, poor signal etc. Tell him you knew there was a OTA update but you have never received it, and you want to see if this will fix your problems first before deciding on a warranty replacement. If they ask you where you got it tell them you got it from a T-Mobile Store and you bought it full price. Whatever you do don't tell them craigslist. Stay firm on you buying it in a store no matter how many times they ask. Now the above might not even come up but be prepared in case. Noe tell the tech support rep could he please make sure that your IMEI number is correct in their system as you have never received the update. Your number might be in there and it might not. Likely it is not. I had one that was wrong for a whole month from when I changed from my G2. They will ask you for your number and give it to them. If they don't find it they will try to put it in. If the IMEI number is not in their database they will tell you also and ask where you bought it. Stick to the plan. Tell them you don't know why it's not in their system all you did is buy it in their store it should be in the system and you paid full price for it it better be in the system. now I have actually had this happen on one of my early replacements. And I really did get it from a store. They finally said they could manually enter it and override the system. Now if you get this done your almost there. Tell them thank you and you will be waiting for the update and hopefully it fixes the issues if not you will call back. Wait a day or two. The call back and when you here the automated attendant say cancel. This gets you to a higher level rep. Tell the about the problems and you are disappoint that you paid full price and now you have all these problems and the OTA update did not correct them. You are loosing data connection and they stay off for long periods of time. Tell them you have already been to a store and they changed your SIM card and that you have already talked to tech support and factory master reset with them twice and they said it is defective. You said you would give it another chance but it did not get any better. Now hopefully they will process you a exchange and send it to you and then you send yours back..
I hope this help and you get a good one. If all else fails go through HTC.

Sounds like a software bug. Try a factory reset before you do anything.

I've bought a few different phones off Craigslist and got them all exchanged through warranty. As long as its still under the manufacturers warranty they should exchange it. All they did was look up the imei to verify its still under warranty. This is my experience with T-Mob, so I don't see why you shouldn't be able to exchange it. Now, if its a stolen or lost phone, they might not. Let us know how it goes for you. Hope you get a good one.

This is the kind of thing of why i dont want to buy one off ebay or cl, i dont mind but i know it will be a phone i will have for a long time so id rather buy it brand new.
Trust ME
as long as you have insurance which is 5.99 a month for the php bundle then it will cover the phone...just call in do troubleshooting and hey will replace it as long as there not liquid damage or physical damage....u dont pay anything not even shipping and hanlding
Alright, I'm going to give it a shot today.
This took ne at a surprise, I went and logged on to my T-Mobile and it shows the white mytouch as my phone... so I'm guessing they already know I have a mytouch?
so alright thanks for the replies everyone. I'll call in this afternoon and see what the deal is. Thanks.

For someone like me that switches phones alot and usually pays full or close to full price the insurance its nice. It would suck if it was like sprints insurance where you gotta pay a deductible.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
I think T-Mobile does also make you pay a deductible also. Not sure, but I do change phones a lot and not sure if insurance would cover non T-Mobile phones like the iPhone.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Lockeskidney not everyone sells there soul by signing 2year contract and having to pay more than its actually worth. Now lets say this as I never considered insurance. I usually buy the device without contract at full price from valid vendor now if I lose it how much is the deductible? I am sure everyone ATM here some how doing insurance fraud false claiming it as lost.

[q] i can't buy bell sensation without contract?!?

I went to Future Shop, Bell and The Source for a Sensation and none of them wants me to walk away with a Sensation FULL price without a contract!
I don't want to pay more then 550$ so the negri sites + other is not an option.
If ANYBODY knows where to buy it IN A STORE, (to pay credit) let me know!
Thanks again!

"The Phone Booth" at Sherway Gardens sold me one no questions asked. I had it home and unlocked from Bell in a few hours!
I got mine from the Bell Store, had to sign up for a 30 day plan. Tons of paperwork, don't do it. Futureshop/Bestbuy should be able to sell the phones unlocked in a week (according to the staffs experience)

Are you a T-mobile customer? If you are then they are in the wrong for not selling you a phone off contract. If your not a T-mobile customer than they can deny you the sale but nothing happens to them if they do. Just all depends if the persons being a **** and how much they have in stock.

Having previously worked for bell it is one of there rules is a phone needs to be registered to an account to leave the store. You either need to have an account (in which case it should be easy) or keep going in hopes to get a misinformed employee. Try small phone booths as well.

Yes I am a tmo customer. They told me they had limited quantities and they were reserving them for new contracts. When I called tmo to complain they called 2 of the stores and the one guy straight up lied to them and said they didn't have any in stock when 5 minutes earlier they did. And this was at 10th am when they opened so I doubt they sold all of them from the time o called until when tmo cs called them

I got my Sensation yesterday at Wireless Wave in Erin Mills Town Centre. No problem buying it outright with no contract. Unlocked it at home, and using it on Telus.
Got my locked virgin sensation!
Now how do I get a legal unlocked bootloader??? (want to keep my warranty)
I purchased mine from Best Buy outright without an activation. He even checked in his computer to make sure that it could go out the door without a plan. If it helps at all, I got mine from the Best Buy store in Markville.

should i buy for cheap or its the right price?

Well i live in lebanon , im seeing the sensation online being sold for between 550$ and 650$ , while in lebanon the official htc agent is selling it for around 800$ , while other shops are selling it for 550$ and 580$ , so my question is are the cheap prices are there for a reason? should i be scared? or should i buy it for 800$?

Cheap is good. The phone is too new to be all f-ed up.
Sent from my Sensation 4G, that is finally running CM7, using Tapatalk.
If you are giving prices in US dollars, then the $800 one is the one to be worried about. The phone does not cost $800. $500 to $600 American is on point.
go for cheap one.
I think 800$ is too much. If you don't trust the 550$ shop, you can talk with people who already bought something there - just find some discussion, forum etc.
Sounds like you are in a similar situation to us here in new Zealand. If I buy from a carrier this phone is quite a bit more expensive than using the parallel importers.
I've always gone parallel though and haven't had a faulty product yet.

You have two issues:
1- Warranty: HTC's warranty is region specific. So ig you buy it online from UK, you have to send it to HTC in UK (or Europe maybe) for repair. If you buy from local agent, you send it to him for repair.
2- Arabic language: The devices sold in Middle Esat have Arabic support. To make sure, the outside box of the phone will have specifications written in Arabic. This issue can be solved by unlocking the bootloader, Super CID (or Arabic CID) & flashing the official Arabic ROM or by using custom ROMs & then flashing Arabic files.
So its upto you.
I personaly would usualy buy from online, but when I baught my Sensation, I baught it in from Dubai (Arabic version) because it was not yet released in Europe except through Vodafone. Even when it was released, the first couple of weeks it was the same price as buying it here (with shipping added).
I live in Lebanon and bought it for $550. If you're reffering to that guy that has a facebook page and sells many brands of smartphones, then yes i bought it from him. It has the wifi deathgrip issue though. I didn't encounter any screen issues or dust under the screen.

Anyone bought a Sensation on ebay?

Was just outbid BNIB simlocked @ £285.59
Weird thing is i saw a BNIB Bravo Desire sell for £270 yesterday so a Sensation goes for a mere £15 more than a Desire!

Well it's a auction. So it's more luck that the people that really want that product are bidding on it.
But if I am correct you can unlock the sensation very easy
True, it's just the prices on ebay at times make no sense to me, i quite often see stuff going for within £10-20 of the shop price. My Desire was ~£280 over a year ago so £270 far too high for me
Also allot of scammers and no payers on ebay. So its not all what it seems.

Touch wood by only buying from people with 100% Positive feedback and a lot of feedback i've had no problems, but if you buy cheap sd-cards and batteries i think you're just asking for problems
Yeah got 1 £285 "only used 1 week" seems reasonable given the price i paid for a Desire ~ 1 year ago was similar
i have bought on ebay my new htc sensation for 385 euro are 3hg austria locked but the seller have rooted and unlocked for me

T-Mobile USA insurance question.

I may have to do a warranty swap for my Sensation. (Possible bad headset jack.)
I currently have the T-Mobile PHP (Premium Handset Protection) plan, $7.99 a month. However, I don't want to file a claim before knowing what phone I'll get from T-Mobile. (My luck they will send me a myTouch or something they "think" is of similar value.) I want at least a Sensation, and I'm not greedy ( I know an HTC One S is not in the picture). Otherwise I'll try repair through HTC instead.
So question is, will T-Mobile tell me what phones they have in stock for replacement for before I commit to the insurance claim?

you do realize that the PHP makes you pay 130$ as a deductable, whereas the htc warranty is free, right? t-mobile likes to hide this fact, and makes it very hard to find this out until you need to file a claim, which is disgusting, but thats cellphone companies for you.
if you look very closely at the terms, you'll see this.
look here too.
go to your phone on this page to see the deductible
if i were you i would just go through htc, ive used their warranty process before and theyre very nice

The replacement is done through Asurion via a web site. Likely you'll never speak to anyone. You'll also likely get a "recertified" Sensation not a new one.
If you go the warranty route, you also likely get a "recertified" unit.

No deductible for the swap as you will send them back your current damaged phone (unless the damage was your fault) at least that is how it used to be. Nonetheless you won't be forced to pay, you will be able to back out of the claim if not comfortable with the deductible (which there should not be).
The website which handles the claim does indeed give you your options including the alternative phones that could be sent to you.
My sensation was stolen back in April and when replacing the handset (I did have to pay the deductible) they offered me a g2x. You are better off just sticking with the Sensation.

Thanks for the answer! Lucky for me, turns out my headphones were faulty, and not the Sensation audio jack. So no need to exchange/return phone.
I did decide to cancel my insurance though. My luck something will happen now, but I just felt paying the $7.99 a month on a year old phone in the end is not worth the it for me anymore.

It never is worth it. I used to sell phones for Sprint. I never have paid for insurance, nor have I broken my phones. Its not hard to protect them if you just take precautions.
Plus, used phones are cheaper than a deductible + monthly payments. (besides iphones)

I recently did a warrant replacement of my tmobile G2. They didnt have a G2 replacement so I was offered a choice of the My Touch or the HTC Sensation 4G - I don't care for the My Touch so I opted for the Sensation. The phone that I received was brand new, not a refurbished model and I was not charged anything for the exchange.

Did you received it in a unopened HTC Sensation box?
If not then it just looks new, but it is in fact refurbished.
I came from G2x last year, got HTC Sensation as replacement, had to replace Sensation many times because of dead pixels and dust under screen and was never new just refurbished. I could be wrong and you probably received a new one, just letting you know my experience with the warranty exchanges.
