Most recommended rom/kernel question - T-Mobile LG G2x

What is the most recommended 2.7 gingerbread rom that offers great battery life even with hard cpu usage.
Also do kernels that offer the same speed still differ in battery life consumption? and could I get one recommended plz
Thanks

I'd recommend either singh miui as is with the stock cm7 kernel it comes with, or eagleblood 2.7 with morfic's trinity kernel, you can either use the ELP version which OC's to a max. of 1.1GHz and is more battery friendly (i.e. undervolted) or the T15 version for higher OCing which is still pretty good for battery life.
I'm personally using eagleblood 2.7 with T15 trinity kernel.
P.S. of course all other roms, and kernels, available in the development section of this forum are great and each has it's unique touch. Ultimately, it's a matter of personal preference as well as what works best with your device seeing as to how performance fluctuates so much from one G2x to the other.

From my personal expetience cm7 nightly + faux kernel give the best battery live. I've tried Trinity and it is pretty good but lasts 2-3 hours less, at least for me

that puts some questions to sleep. i was wondering why trinity ELP was still giving me bad battery life than faux 123.

Best kernel for battery life?

I was wondering what the best kernel to use if I was looking for better batter life

Adrenaline's 4.4.2 by FAR I am getting better battery life and performance than I ever have
Sent from my Thundaaabolt using XDA Premium App
I will have to try that one from Adrenaline. In the meantime I have been using lean kernel lame version 0.5. Have not tried the 1.0 version yet, the .92 version gave me shorter battery life and lower performance with a quadrant score to back it up. I work in the middle of no-where, going from stock rooted to rooted with liquid and lean kernel 0.5 I went from 5 hrs battery life to 18 hrs.
Another check next to Adrynalyn's 4.4.2
Sent from my BAMF'd T-Bolt
I personally use Imoseyon's v1.11 Battery savery kernel with the Smartass governor. I don't really need the phone to be overclocked so running it at stock speeds is good enough for me. I can easily last for a day without charge with a decent amount of usage. Wifi @ home, 4g @ work.

You got a +1 from me! I am using the same kernel, and battery life so far is phenomenal! The radio upgrade may also help with the battery, but it is too soon to tell if it had any effect. Anyone try running that kernel on smartass?
with adrynalyne's 4.4.2 kernel do you guys use Setcpu with it and if so can you explain your settings? thanx

Max speed 1036, on demand governor, no extra rules set up. Great battery life.
Can you guys tell a difference in battery if you don't use SetCPU?
I too am running Adrynalyn's 4.4.2. My battery life is much improved.
To follow up on my earlier post I went from leankernel v0.5 to v1.11 normal. Impressed so far battery life is on par with what I experienced on 0.5. Quadrant scores are slightly higher, real life response feels identical.
[Kernel] leanKernel: minimal kernel, 1.41Ghz (and 1.92Ghz)
**Edit
Left out specifics I run with SetCPU (interactiveX) governor 1408 max - 245 min. on Liquid rom v1.0

Stock Nexus 4G Kernel with BLN support

As the title states, I'm looking for just a stock kernel with BLN support. My phone seems to dislike the modded kernels like netarchy and matr1x. I've tried the cfs and bfs variants and my battery life plummets. I've tried netarchy kernel without using the bln and still getting the same battery life.
Stock kernel on stock 2.3.4 my phone has 30+ hours of battery life and running a modded kernel battery life drops to 12-15 hours. Still a decent amount of life compared to my old evo. I've played with compiling my own kernel but can't seem to find any threads or how-to's on putting bln support into a kernel.

Unfortunately, the 'Stock' kernel just doesn't support the added hooks which Netarchy and its peers have added into their core.
With regards to your experience - have you been flashing modded roms, or strictly kernels? I agree that I can't claim 30+ hours on any of the mods, but I didn't experience that with the stock either (maybe 20-25 hours of low usage).
Flashing Netarchy 1.3.7 (or higher, CFS), along with undervolting (via Proton), 2G communication only, and maybe using the 'Conservative' governor may help you with batterylife.
Cheers, and Good Luck!
I was flashing kernels on the stock rom. I honestly like the bare google experience, just wish this damn phone had a notification light lol.
Oddly enough i've figured out that chompsms for some reason is a resources hog on modded kernels and roms. I removed chomp and google maps before flashing netarchy and battery life increased to 22-25hours which is livable for better notifications.
What's wrong with the kernels? You can adjust the voltages for optimal conditions in proton and that should be good....
I got Jame Bond last week http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=949292 and it runs great. My batteries at 30 percent right now after 25 hours and bln's working fine. Definately recommend it.

honestly its have to adjust anything. i've been through multiple android devices from the g1 to the evo and 4-5 in between and i've loved tweaking every little thing. the nexus runs so well stock that fiddling with every little setting and mod just doesn't seem worth it to me.
I'm not trying to talk up my product, but have you tried the Matr1x kernel?

I feel exactly the same as you do, sedracer. The phone is very good stock, and I see no reason to use anything other than the stock kernel.
Regardless, I gave matr1x kernel a try and I love it. It is exactly what I was looking for. I can OC if I want to, and it has BLN. No FCs, no random reboots, no freezing. As far as I'm concerned, it's stock with OC and BLN enabled. Battery life is about the same as stock, although I haven't used it for more than a week or so.
Oh cool, you are talking about v5.0, right?

Actually, no. When I first downloaded it, it was version 4.5. Only had it over clocked to 1.2 though, so stability wasn't a problem. I'm going to D/L the newest kernel right now.

need advice about the current roms

Ok, ive been doing some research and it looks like eagals blood is prob the rom for me. I was wondering if i could get some advice on this, i am currently unrooted so im stock , this phone is killing me when it comes to battery life, the stability is so so, but my real problem is battery life i charge my fone about 3 times a day. I am a crazy heavy user, fb, texting about 200-400 message a day, phone calls every now and then, games (words with friends), and just random internet stuff. so my phone is like my life! My friend has a samsung captivate and he can go 12-14 of heavy usage prob not as much as me but he doesnt have it charging all the time like me. I was wondering what rom i should use to achieve great battery life and not lose out on stabilty or speed, look doesnt matter bc i use UTO kitchen.
Are you looking for an Android 2.3.3 or 2.3.5 ROM?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Hey man if you want a 2.3.3 rom that is stock the best is Xboarders stock tweeked rom it is super stable and everything works and the battery life is great. I use that ROM myself when I am in a stock mood. You hit it on the head with eaglesblood it is the best rom out there. I use the 1.08 verion it is based off GB 2.3.5 it is a mix a cm7 and EB goodness. The battery life is also excellent on it but you will not have A2DP (thats BT stero music) And you cant flash the stock froyo LG camera and there are APN issues that A hard reboot fixes every time. All of the problems I just mentioned are not specific to EB they are however specific to GB 2.3.5 for the g2x. It has something to do with Nivdia not relesing something drivers or sorce I dont know what exactly but thats why. You have to make a choice. I hope this helps you. Oh I alklmost forgot I am a heavy user like you except not text mssgs or phone calls but net data data data I had to change my plan to the 10 gig plan 5 was not enough. So what I did was I got the extended battery for the O2x it fits perfdectly and it was only $30. Before that I had 2 stock batterys with an external charger that worked ok too but I hated changing the battery half way through the day you should look into that. Good luck man.

i dont mind i want something stable, fast and great battery life...what does A2DP mean...im going to try EB 1.07 bc i hear no1 has problems with that...
A2DP is Stereo Bluetooth Audio... That's only important if you listen to music using a Stereo Bluetooth Headset.
For battery life, I'd recommend a CM7 based ROM, with either a stock, or undervolted kernel, such as faux123.

I agree with FatalityBoyZahy,
I did see a battery life increase after installing CM7, but the most dramatic change in battery life came after installing faux's 0.4.1 undervolted kernel.
And no the speed and stability don't drop, at least not with faux's kernel.
I would imagine that a 2.3.3 stock GB based rom such as Xboarder's tweaked or EB 2.3.3 plus faux's stock GB kernel would produce the best battery life, as I remember experiencing a huge jump in battery life from CM7 to stock GB.
However, I feel like besides the great battery life, the stock GB roms are ****ty compared to CM7 in terms off features and stability.
For example you can't do Netflix or gtalk video on stock GB.
Also I didn't experience this, but some users experience reboots and other such nonsense on stock GB.
So in Summary:
- stock 2.3.3 based rom (EB 2.3.3 is your best bet here in my opinion) + faux kernel = best battery life
- cm7 based rom (EB 2.3.5 or latest CM7 nightly) + faux kernel = best choice for both great battery life and better stability/features
Hope this helps!

No. The only risk is that you might run into stability issues, but using morfic's UV11 it isn't an issue.
Undervolt, use SetCPU profiles, keep wifi/gps off when you're not using them, and keep your display brightness low. That will net you the best battery life.

I believe the faux kernel is here: [Kernel]CM7 [2.6.32.45] (v0.4.1) OC~1.55GHz/UV/SLQB/BFQ/EXT4/Voodoo [Aug-27]
Looks like the CM version of the kernel is preferred by some in that thread (has to do with the battery driver).
Question: In terms of flashing the kernel, should I flash the ROM first and then the kernel? Or the other way around? (Or does it not matter?)

Always ROM then kernel.
And I prefer the CM version of faux's kernel as well. Supposedly the DS version has better battery life but I've never been able to notice because I'm always busy pulling my hair out over the jumpy and wildly inaccurate readings.

Stable are both, battery life is a little better with tiamat, because it is undervolted.

Tiamat has more governors. It is undervolted, and has higher OC
I'm using cyanogenmod nightlies with latest Tiamat kernel and I'm experiencing random reboots. Might it be because of Tiamat's UV? Maybe I should try cyanogen's own kernel for a while.

It has some awesome battery life on Tiamat. I had to recently re-flash after mucking up the battery calibration process and went with hyperion, which had decent battery life but I dunno, Tiamat seemed to pack better battery optimization's.
Compared to the CM one, I found Tiamat to be very much better. Which makes sense since this kernel is targeted at HTC devices. The CM kernel wasn't bad by any means, and was comparable to my stock one, but Tiamat, for me, has proved to be an excellent battery saver and with the CPU Governor settings properly adjusted makes for a long, long lasting device.
A two day usage leaves the phone at around 50% (it's medium to heavy usage), with stock it was 20% and with CM it was 25%.
It's worth testing, at least!

With all the mods, they r all good as well (icup speedy, matr1x, sg-uv etc.). The new franco.kernel is released and it runs very nice. It doesn't have mods yet but the battery life and performance are super. Also like simms said, the barebones trinity kernels are the best in battery life.

TEUV All the way for battery performance
Matr1x v15.0 is out, has all the features and is undervolted.
I get 20-25 hours out of battery with around 4-5 hours screen on time.
Do you think using running CyberGR-MOD|NS.NGN ICS with Matr1x 14.5CFS, i could get decent battery life? i'm asking cuz i want to install ROM on Gf's phone, she still running CM7 from when i did last time, but i don't want to put a rom that lacks features. i want one feature rich that will not suck on battery life
I can't get over 2 hours screen on time MAX at all anymore. I'm running Peter Alfonso's Bugless Beast GB with GlaDOS 1.12 kernel undervolted to 880 MHz and 20% screen brightness. Even with a new Battery and a full wipe and clean install I still get terrible battery life. Anybody have any ideas? I'm dying here. Is my phone broken?
