All you can eat data - LG Optimus 3D

Afternoon all,
Just a tip for anyone looking for a new SIM/Contract and aren't aware of this;
300 minutes to any mobile/landline (usual numbers, 01/02/07 etc), 3000 Texts and as much data as you can use...
30 day rolling contract, £15/month on Three...
I just got mine yesterday with the goal of being able to use the unlimited data for Skype - and it works perfectly, even video calling over 3G was spot on. I Google'd the all you can eat data before signing up and it seems truly unlimited. Three don't have any caps or FUP on the contract. And although it says tethering is not allowed in the T&C's, you can use it (cant really see how they could stop you)!
This is just a heads up... I know some people will already know and some people will have a personal beef with Three but coming from Voda PAYG where for a tenner a month I got 500Mb internet and 300 texts (and then the £10 credit for calls and stuff after the allowance) I think its awesome.
I got mine from Tesco's; ordered online at about 3pm and it was with me the next day, recorded delivery, signed for at 10:50! Free P&P.
PS I don't work for Three or Tesco, I just think its a good deal.

My o3d came with unlimited data from t mobile, just like my last three smartphones.
Sent from my LG-P920 using xda premium

Bit of an odd issue; Kept getting redirects when browsing web and none of the internet related apps were working. Being redirected to Three page saying I was tethering! Really odd. Called Three support, not much help, went to Three store, not much help.... by the look of it Dolphin HD was setting off the tethering alert!
Uninstalled and so far all OK.
So much for the rumour about still allowing tethering!

TMobile Web\Tzones Loophole

While this may sound like me complaining, I do understand I ws getting away with not having to pay for internet.
Has anyone else noticed that the TZones loophole has been cutoff. At approx 1:30am MST this morning both my brother and I noticed that our phones stopped syncing with our exchange OTA. He looked in to a couple of things on the exchagne and couldn't find anything wrong. We both power cycled our phone and still nothing. I then tried to browse the net and sure enough I couldn't. I checked\double checked\triple checked all of the settings - wap.voicestream.com - 216.155.165.50 and still nothing. I posted a thread on Howard Forums and have received a couple of responses but not enough for me to think that TMo stopped the service. Maybe they are just doing some sort of upgrade\maintanence? Wishfull thinking. I guess if not I will have to pay which is not a problem. The nice thing about the "loophole" was getting Exchange to sync OTA. I rarley used it for browsing.
I too posted in HoFo about the "outage"...
I've been out of contract with t-mobile for over a year now, enjoying the "non-proxied" direct internet access for $5.99/month that they've been offering- but in my situation, there's no way I'd pay them $30/month for unrestricted EDGE-only access.
I've been a t-mobile customer for 10+ years, but I'm strongly considering jumping ship to Cingular--doing the math, I can go to them for $20 more a month instead of $30, get rollover, AND get 3G speeds (and services, in my area) on my 8525. Hotspot service is useless to me, since I have municipal wifi access where I am 99% of the time.
So, $30 more for EDGE speeds (and useless hotspot service) or $20 more for 3G speed? For me, it's a no brainer.
I am back up and running. I removed the "My ISP" connection and set up a new one under "My Work". I then set up the Proxy agian to use port 8080 instead of just 80.
I've done the same--however, most data-capable apps (gmail app, resco radio, remote desktop) don't seem to be proxy capable and fail to work.
Oh well. Direct Push is working, and PIE can browse the web. It was nice while it lasted.

With the way I am set up I can do both, email and browse. While the browsing seems to be limited to true WAP sites I don't really mind. I really only need to connection for Push anyway.
The same thing happened a few months ago. It lasted for about 3 or 4 days and then everything was back to normal.
I'm confused. Are you the guys that are back up and running paying at least $4.99 a month for data or are you getting completely free data access??

Personally I am paying $5.99 for TMobile Web (TZones) and yes I am back up and running.
I'm also paying $5.99 a month for T-Mobile web and I just checked and I'm back up and running again without having to change any settings.
I'm also paying $5.99 for T-Mobile web and I just checked and I'm also back up and running without any changes in my settings.

So you don't have the Proxy settings in? That is the only way I can get mine to wrk for both Browsing and Push Email.
i wish mine still worked.
none works with or without proxy, i had it working for a few weeks when i got my PPC phone, but now its gone, i dont think i have tzones but i do have unlimited txt/mms stuff (family plan)
Mines back to not working again either. They must be having some kind of problem with their servers because i I can't even get to the T-zones and even if they were trying to close some loopholes so that people couldn't access the entire net they wouldn't shut down T-zones with it.
T-Mobile Making a Big Mistake
I just found this thread. I have two plans with T-Mobile. One for myself (work) and one for my family. I have been with T-Mobile for a year. After coming from Verizon and Cingular. It's been a good experience.
However, T-Mobile's lack of either a 3G network or a decently priced plan is going to push me back to Cingular. I used a Wizard on T-Mobile for the past year. I paid $29.99 per month for their "Total Internet" package. The package includes unlimited Edge Internet and Hot Spots. The hot spot service is next to worthless.
Until T-Mobile offers a full 3G network, the price for unlimited internet on a Wizard, Dash, or Wing should be $14.99 (half what they are now charging).
Since March, I've been using a TyTN on T-Mobiles network. One week ago, I got a Cingular ATT card and Cingy's data plan for $44.00 and it is worth it. I'm crusing the web between 400 and 1000 kbps. On T-Mobiles Edge, I get 75 to 146 kbs. This is not worth $29.99.
I'd keep my wife and kids on T-Mobile and get data plans for two or more of this if the cost were no more than $14.99. That's all it's worth. I've talked to many loyal T-Mobile customers who are switching to AT&T for the same reason.
I hope T-Mobile is listening. They need to get their 3G launched and keep their data rates competetive until they do.

AT&T has just changed Unlimited Internet Usages terms, can I cancel without fees now?
At&t has changed their internet usage terms to include the banning of audio/video streaming and data tethering. This means Skype, Slingbox, and other video streaming services possibly youtube...
http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/03/...s-terms-of-service-to-forbid-video-streaming/
While I do like their coverage I find all these limiting factors extremely frustrating. I did not agree to these terms when i signed up, the only thing i agreed to was 5GB cap which I was not happy with either... I use skype a lot to call my family who live in Canada and enjoy the occasional slingbox stream but if i can't do these things anymore what the point of 3G, crappy web browing on a 2.8" screen? What I do with my bandwidth is my buisness as long as I don't break that cap i agreed to right?
Since they changed the terms of usage am I allowed cancel my service without early cancelation fees? If so I will be taking my buisness to T-Mobile and getting the new Touch Pro 2 when that comes out but until then I will be using a non 3G month to month payment plan

Honestly, I believe a lot of TOS agreements are like this, no matter who the carrier is.
As long as you stay under the 5gb cap you should be fine. I think the reason they put this in there is because those are the things that use the most bandwidth.
You can always call their retentions department and tell them why you want to cancel and talk to them. I believe if they changed the TOS and the TOS was a part of your contract then they're voiding the contract, but I'm not sure about that since they're not changing rates on you.
Well I realized that there isn't really a way for them to track what i'm actually doing but I think this is just rediculous, ATT should really take out Unlimited wording in their advertising.
Another reason I want to cancel is month after month I have to deal with bills that absolutely make no sense, I was happy with T-mobile for over 4 years with no problems and the only reason I went back to ATT was because of the FUZE.
My area has a lot of competition for wireless contracts and that how I scored a free ATT Fuze, I bet with a little patience I can get a free Rhodium if I look hard enough...
ok when u meant unlimted internet usages are you talking bout the "personal PDA plan?" or the "tethering plan"??? cuz i got personal PDA plan on mine and i go on youtube through my fuze alot i dont see any changes whatsoever...plz someone tell me
Just a thought..... they are NOT going to enforce that because they have 3 services that they offer that include it... Cellular Video (CV), Mobi TV, and whatever the Mobi XM radio service is...
Just don't go over 5GB and if you do, chances are you can get out of it. If you get charged, PM me and I can tell you how to get out of that one.... ALSO, for those of you who don't know, a change in your TOS is a way to get out of your contract and cancel service without paying the cancellation fee... just a thought... Google it for specifics on what to say on the phone... their TOS has a loophole for you that will allow you out if they change something....

You won't see any difference until you go over the 5 GB per month limit.
Well it doesn't really matter what plan your on since this pretty much affects all 3g wireless connections and the 5GB limit applies to everything including broadband usb connect thingy.
Nowadays it easy to stream large videos, like yesterday while i was waiting at the doctor's office i decided to watch a short 30 minute episode of "Better off Ted" and that easily went over 130mb. I never used more than 2GB a month but there are alot of people who use their phone's 3g much more than me so i imagine they get pretty close to that 5GB.
The way I see it is since they revised their TOS it will make it harder to argue your way out of a large bill.

UPDATE: ok soo i called in AT&T about this and well they only said its gonna against the Tethering and USB broadband services NOT the Unlimted PDA Personal plan that u can get for $30 a month, soo i guess its all good...for now
My friend just got out of his contract because they changed the TOS and he wanted the g1 (android) phone so he called them up told them he didn't agree and if they didn't let him go without the fee he would sue. They dropped him like a hot potato lol
Last mont I went way over 5GB tethering, torrenting and watching hulu all the time. No word from att yet. already paid my bill. No extra charges.
I have unlimited PDA personal+200 txts. No tethering. I reviewed on att website and as far as I understand that lingo, 5GB limit pertains only to PDA+tethering plan and to Dataconnect (for laptop cards).

Here is my data usage directly from my bill page:
Internet/MEdia Net
UNLIMITED
Used 11054.71MB of Unlimited

OK, so it looks like o2 UK's 'unlimited' internet is now officially around 1GB/month

Afternoon xda
I've just received the "We've stopped you using the internet on your mobile because you've gone over your data allowance. You can start using it again after your next bill date" SMS from o2.
I'm on a 12 month SIM only contract (Simplicity) that includes 800mins, 1600texts and the 'unlimited' web bolt on.
This is a new contract and I was on a similar one last year. Last year my usage varied a lot, particularly when I had no home broadband for a while when moving addresses and used up several gigs before getting a warning (via sms and snailmail).
This time, however, this is the first time I've received a message on this contract and I wasn't even warned before hand. I've just been looking through my used bytes in my o2 account and it looks like it adds up to just over 1GB. Yesterday I used tethering to stream BBC iPlayer on a laptop which used up a couple of hundred megs which pushed it over the edge, it would seem.
I'm using a HTC HD2 which is obviously very data orientated with constant updates, messengers running, etc.
So a warning to everyone on o2 in the UK - it looks like things have changed and we now get 1GB and then our data connections CUT OFF until our bill month rolls over, with no prior warning. I'm now without mobile broadband for almost a week.
UPDATE
I called o2 not holding up much hope.
The call went something like this:
Me: "Good afternoon, I'm calling because I received a text from o2 in regards to going over my data allowance. I use my sim in an HTC HD2 and I don't think I've used any more data than I have in previous months.
Her: "Ok Sir, I see you have unlimited internet on your account so I'll lift the bar for you"
Me: "For reals?"
Her: "Yes Sir, it may take up to 24 hours to be removed."
So no messing about there! Though I'm impressed with o2's customer services I'm still amazed this was dealt with so quickly. People with unlimited net who think they've had their data unfairly cut off - call up o2 and talk to them, fantastic service!
Never having a problem with O2's customer services is one of the main reasons why I stick with them.
I had problems with my bank screwing up direct debits, so I'd miss the payment date for my bill and have a bar put in place.
A quick phone call and paying by debit card would get it sorted, but once they had a problem where the unbar didn't go through.
So I called up the next day and joked with the woman, got the bar removed and £15 credit as an appology.
Their broadband customer/tech service is excellent too.
1Mbps upstream for £5
I had the exact same problem, gave o2 a bell and they lifted the bar for me. Conversation went much the same as above
You must be luck, I ordered the sim card from the advert on TV £15pm and unlimited internet.
I checked my ballance and it was 500Mb, I used 1Mb and checked the next day (thinking it may be 500Mb/day) and it was 499Mb
I called O2 and complained and the lady said "well we cant give you unlimited can we..." and after a lot of complaining I got my money back.
I was getting 750Mb per month on Virgin for less
You guys are lucky with O2. Look at what Vodafone UK is running away with.
Sneakily changing our contracts from "unlimited with a soft cap of 500MB" to hard capped at 500MB. According to the new (much disputed) tariff, anything over 500MB will be charged an extra £5 for next 500MB.
This is being discussed in a lot of detail on Vodafone UK eforums and MoneySavingExpert forums (link).
If you are not using Vodafone yourself, please let everyone know about this, so these mobile providers stop getting away with murder now!
I have started a new thread on XDA-Dev here for discussing it.
Hoping that these take their tarrifs back and see some sense!

LOOK HERE! How to get AT&T to bring back $30 data.

Hey guys! Just got off the phone with an AT&T rep, tried to talk him into getting me unlimited data for $30 per month. Obviously that didn't work so well, but he did share some valuable info with me...
Every time someone calls and asks for it, they file a report and send it make to the main department. The keep each report, and he says they've been getting so many recently, they're considering bringing back the plan for those who have called in and asked for it sometime in the next few months.
I don't really know how it will work, but here's your time to call!
Can someone else ask AT&T if these reports actually exist so I know this thread isn't pointless?
Just dial up an ATT rep and ask for unlimited data. They'll most likely say no, but they will also most likely file that report that one guy mentioned.
ok thank.........
In other news, the temperature of earths core has dropped buy over nine thousand degrees.
-sent via 1.21 giggawatts of android.
When I spoke to a CSR manager he didn't say anything about reports but he did confirm that they've been getting bombarded with irate customers who want the unlimited data plan back. His outlook on it was that AT&T was forever changing their plans to meet customers needs and that it was very likely that an unlimited plan would become available in the near future.
BUT and this is a big BUT .... He insinuated that it would come at a heftier price tag. So maybe instead of $30, we might be looking at a $50 all you can eat smorgasbord of data.

Verizon is getting rid of unlimited data too...
Sounds like something I would say to a customer who had spent the last 30 minutes bombarding me with impossible requests.
Just wanted to confirm that I also got 'grandfathered' into an unlimited data plan at $30/month, though it took almost 3 weeks in 'management review' to get there. The problem for me is that I wanted the MEdia Net plan back, and I'm half tempted to tell them to stick their new phone and go back to using my HD2.
Here's why.
In all the years I've been with AT&T (four or more have been out of contract), I've never gone over 200MB a month, and I don't think I've ever gone over 30 text/mms messages a month. Never. Ever. Not when using my Kaiser, and not when using my HD2 both of which were bought privately from Ebay, and not as an upgrade. If anything, I've paid for MEdia net for many months when I didn't use data or messaging at all.
So, for me, a 2G data plan with 200 messages at $20/month would be fine for my needs, and still not hurt AT&T, since I'm not a data hog.
Anyway, just sayin'. YMMV.
Lol I doubt they will bring it back. It had more to do with them having network capacity issues than anything else.
Besides if they actually do keep that info then they will probably corolate the info with the average usage of the people making complaints and if those people are considered high use then it is unlikely their voices will be heard.
Besides I think they where even looking at getting in trouble for the network overload. Doubt they will go back.

Will AT&T cancel my contract if i use a lot of data?

Last month I was throttled at about 3.5gb and I ended up at 14gb by the end of the month. This was my protest for being throttled. Mind you, the last 7 months usage I usually do 3.5-4gb.
This month I got my 5% warning and im sure will be throttled within the next few days. When that happens I plan to do 100gb
Will AT&T cancel my account ? is this a stupid way to protest? What do you guys think?
Tbh, I think my last month raised the top 5% because this month I got my first warning at 3.8gb…last month my first warning was at 3.2 and i was throttled at 3.5
No, I don't think they will because everytime you get close to the threshold you'll be throttled. I had a very long and wasteful talk with one of their representative.
Throttled at GB and 13 days left. So far I have used more than 15 GB thanks to the APN switch. I don't care I am paying for unlimited data so nobody can tell me otherwise. AT&T can throttle my speed all they want but unlimited data is what we are paying for. Thank god for APN switch.
I am just trying to figure out how you guys can consume that much data each month. Are your phones streaming videos and music 24x7 or something? I am just curious as to what a typical day of use would be for you.
I also have unlimited data but I barely use 2GB's per month cause most places have wifi now and if I am out of the house with the family or friends, I TRY not to keep my face buried in my phone.
As far as your method of protest (@waiters), I personally think it IS stupid if you are going that far simply because they are throttling you. Just because you CAN do a thing, doesn't mean you SHOULD do a thing. Just my opinion.
But as you stated, you are guaranteed unlimited data, so have fun...
First of all to everyone ,
i haven't gotten my skyrocket yet until friday, but im sure its the same with the iphone .iv been with an iphone since 07 when it was first released , luckily i one of them in a handful that HAD the unlimited plan until last month . ATT will not cancel your data plan , they will just apply you with a new data plan (4gb a month) . i was warned months before my plan got changed . first started with sms from att then emails and lastlly and sms&email notifing me with the change.
so long story short ,ATT will just change your plan .most likely to you will get 4gb a months and 10$ after each gb .
BTW my choice to switch to android after so many years after being loyal apple customer was nothing more then to try out other operating systems Oh and 4G . especially after being disappointed of the iphone4s which wasnt much of a change from the iphone4. Dont get me wrong IOS is and wonderful system ,very user friendly . lets hope android turns good for me too as its community. Any tips or redirection to great forums like this one will be greatly appreciated
I upload a ton of pics and vids of the family...download roms..stream pandora and stream slingbox in the car or at restaraunts. I also tend to sit and watch youtube for hours at work. the wife and i average about 4gb a month each. we ise wifi when home
The real problems I have are that
1. last month i was throttled after being on vacation for three weeks ...so yeah heavy data usage
2. if we go out of town and have heavy data usage the first weekend of the month...bam...throttled for the rest of the month...super lame to be throttled because we used "more" than whoever they are comparing us to at the beginning of the cycle.
3. every notification I have received has been within an hour of streaming slingbox .. Seems fishy
3.

I would like to offer my input here by saying that that sounds like a GREAT way to protest.
Clearly these thresholds are going to HAVE to be changed with our current level and generation of wireless speeds. It's obviously impractical for the limits being as low as they are (before throttling).
They need to wake UP and take some action, and until they do that I say feel free to do whatever you'd like to nudge them along to hopefully get their tails moving in the right direction.

Internet usage , cause I didn't own a laptop or of to be tethering off to . I would of switched over to sprint but unfortunately they have really really low speeds
AT&T really needs to think things through. Fine with throttling data, but AT&T needs to be clear about what is exactly the cap limit and let the consumer know about it. Now, for LTE, the cap needs to be higher than 6 GB a month. LTE speeds are very fast and with all of those updates from the market, streaming content such as videos @ 720 and HQ music your data will be consumed in no time. Your call AT&T, keep being sneaky and don't face the heat or just adapt to the fact that many consumer will start going the route of switching APN's on their phones and getting good HSPA+ speeds. I am lucky I live in Dallas were HSPA+ speeds are within 7 to 10mb download every time. Android 2.3.5 + HSPA+=winning combination for consumers.

2. if we go out of town and have heavy data usage the first weekend of the month...bam...throttled for the rest of the month...super lame to be throttled because we used "more" than whoever they are comparing us to at the beginning of the cycle.
3. every notification I have received has been within an hour of streaming slingbox .. Seems fishy
3.

Thanks for the honest reply. I was honestly curious. I have heard that sling box has horrible (meaning almost zero) data compression, so that doesn't surprise me. Do you have a data monitor on your phone so you can see how much each app is pulling? Might be interesting to know.
Installed one last night.
To give you an idea of the amount of control I use, I apparenyly use about 1-2gb of data a night on wifi.
I am using "my data manager" which tracks wifi and cell data. I am curious to see if claims that heavy amounts of cell data are still being used even though I am connected to wifi.
