Nexus S - NO Recovery in Fastboot - General Questions and Answers

Hi Guys,
I have a Nexus S and I wanted to get ICS. I flashed the 128 mb ICS image manually through fastboot recovery, however, I wanted to go flash some MODS on the phone again but it's not working.
It's going into fastboot and I can choose what I want from the menu but when I choose Recovery, it shows the Google screen, Flashes the Android with a little "Matrix" ball in front of it and then it freezes at a black screen, with the soft buttons lit up.
Could anyone tell me what happened and if it can be fixed?
PS: When I press VolumeUp+Power at the black screen, it resets! and i have clockworkmod installed..

No ClockworkRecovery

I am rooted and for the life of me, cannot get my gTab to boot into clockworkrecovery. Followed the instructions to the T to install it but cannot boot into it - any ideas?
I actually used the clockworkmod_microsd option to install to my card - how would i access the internal memory to install from there? maybe that's the problem?
So you extracted the zip file to the root of your external MicroSD (SDCARD2) and restarted while holding down the volume up key... and what happened?
In my case, after doing the initial install when I try to boot in recovery, the viewsonic screen comes up (with no recovery text) and then goes to black. When I eventually try to power up again, the tab goes back to the original ROM.
Initial attempts to install cwm and flash here. One of the Wooters who got a Gtab
Look carefully. The screen should be black except for very small text in the upper left corner of the screen. If intensity is down, you might not see it.

Sounds like you're holding the volume down key and ending up in APX mode.

[Q] Bricked my Nexus S 4g (Sprint) Recovery Mode Will Not Work

I seemed to have bricked my Nexus S 4g, I unlocked the bootloader, and had MIUI running on there for some time with no problems, I took the rom off and started to run with just stock android. I ran into an issue when i tried to use an application that would change the system fonts, Fontchanger, and now the phone will not even reach the nexus s loading screen but instead gets immediately stuck at the first image screen showing the Google logo. When i hold the volume up and power button i can get into the boot menu, but when i try to get into the recovery menu i just get the triangle with the exclamation mark logo. Can anyone help me out with this one?
BUMP BUMP BUMP BUMP In a similar situation, flashed the wrong rom ran the OTA and wiped out recovery & USB.
Press Power and Volume Up Button in recovery mode and you will get options to clean things up. Did the same in morning and got it when accidentally pressed.

[Q] Garble screen, locked out of recovery

Hey guys.
So I tried to use the GB kernel to install a custom ROM.
I installed stock+Voodoo-T959VKG4-unsigned-update.zip on my T mobile Galaxy S 4G using CWM. I chose to install a zip file from the sdcard, and I chose that file.
When it first booted up, it actually spoke to me with a robot voice "Converting system partition. Estimated time, 2 minutes" while showing garble on the screen. It looks like when a video driver crashes.
Now it just boots up to garble then goes into a boot loop. Holding down volume up + down on boot up boots to a blank screen with soft buttons illuminated. Odin and ADB don't recognize it but it does do mass storage.
Is it a paperweight?

[Q] Optimus V(VM670) - Stuck at Black Screen with Notification Bar at the Top

So I rooted my phone, and being the curious experimental type that I am, I decided to factory reset my phone...
I found out the hard way that this is taboo.
Unfortunately, before doing so I created ZERO backups and didn't install any custom recovery. I wasn't using a custom ROM either.
Now my phone boots up, goes from LG logo to Virgin Mobile animation, and then to a black screen with the notification bar at the top. No buttons do anything, not even the power button. I have to pull the battery to turn it off.
I have all of the drivers and ADB installed on my computer, however I can't seem to enter fastboot mode (it just keeps saying "waiting for device"). Also when I reboot into bootloader mode it brings me to the recovery screen with the four options (reboot, update from SD, factory reset, wipe cache).
I'm not really sure where to go from here. Any guidance at all would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Phone wont boot

I seem to be having an issue with my phone. I'm still a noob, so bare with me. I used the HTC Dev tool to unlock my phone. Then I used the flashboot boot boot.img command to try to install a rom. The phone reset on its own and booted to the splash screen and then a black screen. I let it sit for 5 mins and then pulled the battery and put it back in and booted into bootloader and then into recovery. Tried to run cwm but it wouldn't find the rom to flash. Took the card out it put it into another phone and it said it was bad. Got a new card and tried from beginning but not getting any farther. In CMW I can select any of the options and it just goes to to the circle screen. Wont wipe the phone, wont reboot the phone, nothing. If I try to let it boot without going into the bootloader I get the splash screen and then the black screen. Thanks in advance for your help!
Not sure what version of CWM you are using. But normally if you see the circle with the hat, you are pushing the wrong button on the phone to select the items. If I remember it's either the power button or camera button.
Thanks!

Wow, don't I feel dumb! Yeah, I was hitting the power button to select and it is the trackpad that I should have been pressing. Thanks for the help!
