i also did factory reset many times but still same .
internal 16 gb is clean .. no memory in there ..
i am really fcuked rite now help me please
wow. Do you have an extended recovery? try from there (wipe caché, wipe data, wipe dalvik caché).
Or from dialer:
*2767*3855# - Hard Reset
*#*#7780#*#* - Factory Reset
all done .. all is successful but still memory is still there
just to test, try flashing from the beginning with pit, and then whatever steps are needed for the version you want and see if it's still there.

HI All,
i was bored so i was trying out something stupid on my mobile...... backfired badly!!
Here is what i did on my Samsung Galaxy 3 - I5801 mobile. i went on to create a MMS message.
1) I creted a new message. Did not select anything in "To" field
2) menu->attach->videos
3) Selected a big file 1.5 GB .mp4 file( well just giving a try i thought no harm.)
4) once the message was ready, i clicked on view just to preview the video file.
The video did not play and white screen showed up. i clicked back the video player and it force Closed. I have Mx Video Player installed.
5) I clicked Back button to come out of the message, it asked me "Your message will be discarded because it has no valid recipients". I cliked OK
And i am in Deep S**t now.
1)Immediately Notification area shows "Low on space" . Phone storage is getting low.
2) I go to Manage application and see Dialer Storage shows top on the list of Sort by size .... Dialer Storage - 47MB!!!!!
3) I tried to create some space by uninstalling some apps(uninstalled Google Update & Bubble Blast)
4) I cleared some applications cache.
5) In hast i also opened "Contacts Storage -> Clear Data"
6) After that i observe all contacts are deleted...!!!!!!.
I there a way out of this.
Thanks Guys any input is appreciated ....
Try clearing messaging app data. Or try to check if the message is really discarded.
Cheers

Try going into cwm recovery and clearing cache and dalvik cache if you're on a custom kernel.
Edit, if your not on a custom kernel just boot into recovery and wipe cache
Cheers

hmmm... As of now i dont understand much of what you have asked me to do. i need to some searching about CWM recovery and dalvik cache.
In the phone i have Eclairs 2.1 kernel 2.6.29(no root or any other updates done)
I need to spend some time and work on what you have suggested ...
I will get back once i am done.
If you have any links for those related to cwm recovery and cache clear it would help.
Thanks a lot

you need root access to make changes in system apps (as in dialer storage)
have you tried clearing the cache in the recover menu?
You can re sync data from your Gmail!!
Basically, turn off your phone, hold volume up+volume down+home+power button and once it boots let go of the power button. You will go to the recovery screen, use ur volume keys to scroll up and down. Select wipe cache partition since your on sotck kernel. Have you tried clearing dialer storage?
Btw, if worse comes to worst, root your phone using superoneclick root. After that install titanium backup and backup all your apps. Then boot into recovery mode and factory reset. Then reboot and restore your apps using titanium backup
Cheers

I don't know which recovery you're using, but you'll need to pick the wipe internal storage option. As you've found out the factory reset doesn't touch your internal storage partiton. (even though one might expect it to)

Please help to solve my friend's problem:
"There are 4 system in the phone with BMM, the main system is MB ICS
Last week when I used the phone, once there is not responding, didn't want to start any application - I restart the phone.
While the phone was booting to BMM startup under the green robot the title was: cache img for system 1 cant be found, and created a virtual cache.
The system started as if I did a FULL RESET, but I didn't! After It there was a system message: unable to receive message, free up some space.
Starting calls, receiving, browsing only working (if I set the base things), but I can not be install any other application, I just only have the factory ICS apps. Unable to write a message, - free up some space - the system refers.
In the storage: Total space: 0.00 B which contained: 54Mb.
- I tried to "reinstall" the MB ICS factory rom 3 times with RSDLite, but nothing changes. It seemed to install, and everything work fine, but after the reboot there was no change.
- I tried to install ME ICS factory rom, ME JB rom with RSD, but in the 6. step: "flash failure" error stops. After this point I have MB ICS with root permissions, superuser and BMM - everything just like previously, only the sytem is wiped.
- I tried to restore my earlier backup, but there is no change.
- I tried to flash/install another "custom rom" but no change.
- Tried to format system, format cache, format data, format everything, but nothing changed.
- I tried many times, factory reset, nothing changes.
After every restart it seems if I do a full reset. I can not create a system, and I can not delete with BMM.In BMM with Aroma in "DF" setup there is 450 MB space in my phone"
If you have any solution, please tell us to solve this nerve-racking problem.

Wow. This is why my friends don't let me mod their phones. They have all kinds of questions that they ask me but they don't let me touch their phones. I guess they've seen me soft brick mine too many times and they think their phones will end up like this or something. So, your friend is much more trusting than mine are. Lol.
If it were me, I would uninstall and then reinstall all the Motorola drivers on the PC. Then re-download RSD lite, the FXZ, and everything else that is needed and try again. If that didn't work, I'd try a different PC and/or USB cable. After that, I wouldn't know what else to do. :what:
If I had a dollar for every time I said that, I'd be making money in a very weird way.

Do you mean the internal storage? Cause if you're talking SD Card, there's a lot of fakes. The fakes have fake messages of storage then reboot & all is gone or corrupt.
Yes, the internal storage of the phone.
Because if you forget to create cache.img partition for a custom ROM in BMM, still boot ok, but when you restart, the phone is reseted to factory
Back to your problem, I think you cannot receive sms because it cannot save data to the cache partition
Any idea from devs to brighten us?

I've considered that too, but that doesn't explain why the FXZ doesn't seem to work. I'm stumped so I've been keeping my eye on this thread just in case someone comes up with a solution.

The problem isn't solved. The owner of the phone sent the device to the service-repair shop, but the service lost his phone. The shop paid a solatium.
Is a factory reset enough when selling a phone? Many used phones on websites like craigslist.
I wonder how much these people care about data?
I have been able to retrieve data that is years old from hard drives with very simple programs. Most enthusiasts will tell you reformatting is not enough. A 3 pass method is what will do the trick.
But what about on a smartphone? Is there such a way to write over the storage with 0's ?
How many here believe a factory reset is enough?
no way
factory reset
format your sd card if any
And also full format your Internal card also...dats it.
I'd like to hear what others have to say. I really don't think that's a very secure method.
If you have a ClockworkMod recovery for your device, try flashing a custom rom + wipe the cache and Dalvik cache.

No it isn't. Any data on the internal system can be recovered as it is not possible to carry out a multi write on it. There was a puritan around a while ago that claimed to do multi pass wipe of files but it disappeared about a year ago, can't even remember what it was called now.
Your average user won't be able to recover anything after a full wrote and reinstall - factory reset is no good - but a forensics expert can do so easily.
if the original soft it is better to delete yourself what you can do then wipe with recovery and check because it's important.
I am using galaxy s4 gt i9500. The internal memory available for the 16gb variant is about 8 gb, out of which i have hardly used 1 gb. I don't know where the rest of the memory has gone. Is it possible to format or something(except the factory reset; it didn't help) like we can format the sd card. Any help is appreciated!
Thanks a lot!

A large amont of the space is your rom im guessing around 3-5gb then u have probly another 2-3gb for ur stock apps then anything u install after that. They say 16/32/64 or 128 on the box but thats never the room u get software always takes up a large portion. Luckily ur device has a sd card slot i believe so u can use that to expande ur storge for a relatively cheap price.
If you need more room on the device you can always root and install custom software or uninstall apps with titanium backup but be careful read the guides in your device forum and follow them properly.
Root your phone and install link2sd.this will solve your storage problem.
First of all your rom will take a lot, second of all your apps and your old apps data incase you used a custom recovery to factory reset, and third of all Cashe it self could reach up to 1 gb.

I understand that the rom may take a large amount of memory but i dont think so that it can take upto 7-8 gb. I have cleared all the cache so it cannot be cache either. I think i may have used custom recovery to factory reset. But when i use file manager to view my internal the total is around only 400 mb including all the folders (like android, dcim, etc)
Btw, I'm running cm12.1. Do you think reverting back to my stock rom would help?
Please help as this is really irritating because most of my apps crash due to low memory.
Thanks.

Yup the issue is that you used a costume recovery to factory reset, I had that issue as well with my note 3 until I realized that all apps data were installed but I didn't see them even on file manager, so I just downloaded a stock firmware and did a stock factory reset and then everything was good as new!
