Ive done my research, im no noob to this lol. I just havent found anything simular to the problems I am having.
So first off the phone isnt mine, its my friends, but im not new to Android and have done my fair share of roots. Ive never had any of these issues.
He bought the phone off of craigslist and it was suppose to be already rooted. So that was the first thing I checked, and it was defiantly S-ON.... So I asked what his problem was, and he said the camera didnt work. If you enter the camera app, or camcorder is would just flash right back to the haome screen. But yet if you go into Qik and video chat the front cam would work just fine.
So I did several factory restores of all ways possible and nothing fixed it. So I got permission to root so I could flash a ROM and see if that fixes the issue.
I rooted via Revolutionary of course. I followed all the step in the guide posted here in the section. After some trouble I finally got it fully rooted. But I was having some problems in recovery. One of them was when using the volume rocker to move up or down it would spazz out and I got to fight with the damn thing to get it to go where I want it to. But it didnt stop there!! Then while having that issue, I had another one where it would keep switching from say the back button was enabled or disabled. So that made it very difficult.
So then I had one ROM downloaded and I finally got it to where I could flash it and while it was flashing it would come back as an error saying something about the memory card! WTF! So after all of this and 3 hours of working on it I gave up for the night. So as I let the phone reboot into the stock ROM it still had the camera issue. AND also now when using the volume rocker for the volume, if you use up, the volume goes down. But if you press down the volume goes up!! Im about to just give up! Tomorrow ill try a new ROM and see how that goes.
So I guess im here asking if anyone has any ideas to any of these issues and what I could possibly do to fix any of these???
wonder if it was a bootleg phone. take the battery out and look over the stickers and what not, research them.

This is a feature with the recovery. If you're at the end of the options and you go back and forth.. it'll disable it. I don't like/use the feature myself!
The volume sort of sounds like hardware..! You can also navigate through recovery using the home and menu button too. Home is UP, menu = down. Search = select. Use that! Hopefully this helps a bit, as for the issue with flashing... I've no idea, I got to see that

I had no idea about the home buttons, ill have to try that. I just find all this weird, Ive rooted a Moment, Hero, EVO 4G, EVO 3D, and a couple others and never came across any of these issues

Yeah my buddy has an evo 3d. I rooted it and did all the stuff for him. Pretty much the same thing. I find it strange that you're having trouble

Hi, I'm new here so don't know if i'm posting this in the right place but here it goes... Ok i gave my HTC Inspire to a friend to install the MIUI ROM to it. Afterwards it was running smoothly and had no problems with it. A few days later my Inspire notified me that it had an update to the ROM. At first i wasn't sure to install it because it is a custom ROM and not the default one, but did the update anyways through the phone. Again, the phone worked normal all day, but at some point the screen started glitching untill it turned completly off.
The one strange thing is that the phone seems to function normally because when charged and "turned on" i can hear the sounds and notifications(like email, text and app notifiactions). Also when i connect it to my computer, it recognizes the device.
That happened about three days ago and I have not been able to discover what really is the problem and how to fix it. If there's anyone that could help me i would REALLY appreciate it.

most likely was a bad update.
You should boot into recovery and reinstall miui everything should be back.
Keep in mind the devs have to set miui for each device, chances are you updated to the wrong base.
That's what i thought but can't boot into recovery because i can't see the screen... Any advice on that?

Try shutting off the phone completely and booting into your bootloader the old fashioned way by holding down the volume down key, press power, and release volume down once you see the bootloader screen.
If your screen doesn't work during that, you may have a hardware problem on your hands.

or while the phone's on, if you have ADB installed - open a cmd prompt and navigate to where ADB is and type "adb reboot recovery"

Ok, tried with the volume and power button, but nothing happened. Thanks for the advice, but I'm kind of new with all this and don't really know how to do the other stuff that you guys told me to do... :S Should I get someone that knows a bit more or is it something that i could do with a little info. from the internet?

If its rooted warranty won't cover this. Get the ruu (stock exe) from the HTC support site and run it. If the phone still has a black screen after its been returned to stock then the problem is hardware related

Try going into your camera and taking a picture. Don't ask me why, but for some reason this works. And it worked for me.

I also had this issue I don't have a solution but if you do manage to get the screen up by some means I would suggest remapping the power button to one of the volume keys at least temporarily if you're rooted. You can either do it manually with root explorer or this app- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=850464 This has worked fine for me on every rom up until ICS.

Same thing happened to me after I moved to Miui 1.12.23. Ive done lots of searching and everyone just says its a broken button. I find it awfully coincidental. I have since moved to cm7 nightly 181 (i think). And the problem carried over. Not sure a fix. CM has a feature to have the vol buttons wake the screen which has been great. I am still able to use the power button in recovery so I dont know what the deal is or the fix....

When i press power button i can see Sense unlock screen, i can see that i have network signal even wifi connection. I can even plug device to pc and there is a connection. But when i try to unlock device there is no response, no vibration nothing at all. Does any of Ya had the same problem. I'm on a stock HTC Rom with official ICS update so nothing special (my device is still on warranty )
Can you give it a battery pull, wait about 20 seconds and pop it back in and see if it starts up?
because your STOCK and still under ware tee I would bring this to the attention of your provider or who ever handles the warentee issues for your device. Perhaps they can offer a fix OR replace the device through warentee. I'm pretty sure you won't have any problems going through warentee. You have not altered your device in anyway so you will be good. I would contact them asap and see what they have to say. I wish you the best and hope you get this resolved soon. Let us know what they say. Likely you will get a new device . Good luck!

I live in Norway so as You know Scandinavian countries recieved ICS update as first. I was running my device without any problems since then, nothing at all and then yesterday evening this **** happened Yeah but i can try fixes or tommorow i will get Nexus Damn i hope those guys at the store aint gonna make any problems (i spared money for 6 months to buy this phone and now that :/ )
Finaly today i got my phone back. They just flashed new Rom into it. You can imagine how happy i was (let the customize begin ) When i came back home the first thing i've done was installation of ADW Launcher Ex then suddenly i see that my volume button is missing (FUUCKK) I've found it on the carpet. So i've tought that i'll read about it in the internet. Everyone was complaining about HTC's Customer Service. But i've filled the form, attached two photos and after five minutes THEY called me. The guy was verry nice and only because my device is six months old i don't have to pay for the cover BUT suddenly right after we end talking a LAG came back. SOME FUUCKKINNGG DISASTER !!! So my friend have called me and i was able to answer the phone. I think it's because of ADW Launcher because right after i've unnistaled it everything works fine. Such a shame, i really like this launcher. Can You guys give me some tips about launcher similar to ADW. Cheers
Just take the plunge and root the phone and stick a rom on there.

Hey there, first post of the forum but long time follower. i was running paranoid android on my phone (new JB update with butter) and i got stuck when one day while using it, it fell into the notorious boot loop. it wouldnt enter download mode either so i ended up buying a jig that came in the mail today.....and now the phone will go into download mode for 3 seconds and loop over and over.....
please i really need this phone, if theres any way around it, it needs to be posted in this thread ASAP

If you pull out the battery and put it back did the phone automatically turn on by itself then keep rebooting?
Did you try 3 combo buttons to enter recovery vol up+dn and power then release power button but keep holding vol up+dn to enter recovery mod.
If the phone still keep bootlooping then it something wrong with Power button and may you need to replace that.

yup turns on by itself and reboots constantly. 3 combo for recovery dont work.

so its not bricked
doesn't sound bricked but it could be tricky to fix. first you have to isolate any hardware problem with the volume or power buttons. maybe pull it apart and clean it. if the usb port is intact it should be salvageable.
one question.... would you sell it? i can always use a backup.
Sounds like power button...but like.dani said...you are not yet in the clear :/
But here's what worked for others:
Rapidly pressing/mashing power button
Taken it apart and blowing the power button area with air compressor
Paying $30 and sending it into some company to fix it

We talked in PM but we have yet to get our meeting to fix it. I get the impression he's not in that big of a hurry...I don't know.
Maybe I'll just do a tutorial video to explain the steps...when I get some freetime.

Highly appreciate sir if we have video tutorial I owned 3 infuses (me wife and son) my son's phone has this problem i talk to technician and he told it was power button hardware need replacement so I send it to their shop via usps and waiting for shipment back.

Thank you, yeah everyone is fine. It could have been really bad. Almost a head on at 50mph. Some douche swerved into her lane and his mirror clipped her driver side window busting it out and breaking our mirror. Then when she pulled over, he just kept on going...
Pretty lame. But fortunately everyone is safe. She had 3 of our kids with her.

Alright well I don't know if this issue ever got resolved, we did speak but only once in PM but no follow up.
So I was going to make a video of the steps I took the first time I experienced this, where the install failed, phone would reboot back into recovering then the Android guy would fall over and it would reboot again back into recovery and repeating the process infinitely.
So the video I was gonna make explained some pretty indepth steps I took...and I have to admit I haven't wanted to make the vid because I didn't want to go thru the process again especially since I've been working on themes and wanted my phone up and running.
So. Here is something for you to try if you ever run into this problem
( I just had it happen again, and discovered this right before setting up the camera to do the before avoided video, lol )
Anyway it worked for me.
When it starts to recovery bootloop, 3 finger hold (power, vol up, vol down) keep holding while Samsung appears.
Continue to hold, Samsung will disappear, then when it reappears a second time release the buttons and you should enter recovery without a bootloop.
Then flash a different rom than the one that obviously gave you a bad flash.
Hope that helps some of you

Has this happened to anyone before? I mean the phone is old and it has its little quirks but this one takes the cake. If i even touch the button it will send the phone into a start screen boot loop til i hit it again. I downloaded button savior so its a small annoyance for now. Is there way to disable the button so i dont accidentally hit it?
Im rooted and it started on GO V5, I then reflashed to Nexus JB, it seems to not do it as easily now.

Check out this thread... allows you to reassign keys. Could make that key just nothing, or something non-essential. I don't know if it works when phone is starting up but its worth a shot.
