Hello. Just wanna share this solution to anyone who might have the same difficulty in getting a decent internet signal on their i9003.
I live about 10km away from the city where i am & the signal here is weaker. I noticed that my wife's phone which is on froyo is always better when it comes to getting a decent, stable signal & sharing it via mobile AP. Im on KPQ and my signal really sucks. Email is important to me so its been such a hassle.
I was about ready to flash froyo croms. I was looking into DarkGenMod by Namaless thread and noticed that he included a download for modems of both froyo and gingerbread. He also added that kb3 modem is the best. So i tried flashing this moden alone without flashing the whole firmware via mobile odin and gave it a try. Now i get the slightest bit of 3g signal here so much better than before- even when its raining. And its much more stable. Im on KPQ firmware with KB3 modem. Sweet. Its been 3days now. No issues so far.
Namaless's thread is found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1230263
I searched the threads for issues like this before posting by using the search area of the xda app and found no matches. If i've insulted anyone through this post please ask the mods to delete it. I just want to share this experience. Sorry also if it has been discussed before..
Big thanks to Mr. Namaless.

Thanks for sharing.
Always, you can extract the modem.bin from the .tar (you open it with a winzip, winrar, or 7zip program) and flash it by ODIN in PHONE (no PIT please, because is just one file).
Thanks dude. Didn't know that. Didnt know either that one could apply other modems of diffrnt firmwares safely.
I wonder what else i can do with what you just taught me. Hmmmn..
Thanks thanks? Hit the "thanks" button if this helped!

Hi all. I'll keep this short.
Ive recently been loving the Audiophile Series: Redux: v1.3.3 rom.
I flashed the kc1 modem over it and am regretting my decision as data speeds have slowed.
What are my options to rewrite this roms original modem other than a fresh install?
Any help or comment would be appreciated and thanks for reading.

you should be able to flash any modem onto your phone without affecting the ROM. Just find out what modem came on the ROM Audiophile was made from and flash it. I flashed about 4 modems via ODIN into Valhalla before settling on KD1.
You can get all the modems here:

Hi thanks for the reply. I guess to clarify, my question is what modem was originally flashed to the audiophile rom? Id like to reflash it.

Yay finally I do not have to go all the way back to gtgs never completed modem package thanks jordan.
Could you list links to each modem individually along with the package. The package is nice and all, but I hate to have to download the entire package when a new modem comes out. Either that or dig through the leak thread for the first person to package it up. That is what made GTGs thread so amazing, having the individual link to each modem.
Update: tried KK1, got abysmal data speeds <.2 Mbps, KI3 is still king, followed by KJ2.

Perhaps you could download them all and upload them all separately - its a lot of work for you to request of someone.

He can use the links from gtg's thread for the older modems, then each of the others has been uploaded and posted somewhere else, either in their own thread or in the Leak thread for that release.

I actually got up to 9mbit down when I was driving hone from work. Seems that this modem for me is in general (wifi) not faster but much more stable with less disconnecting randomly like the last two. I haven't tried the ki3 though. Just started playing with modems since the jk1

Quick thing - the version they came from is named the same - the UCKI3 modem came from the UCKI3 firmware leak, etc.

Well the good news is that it flashes and loads into the OS fine. The bad news is that it won't connect to the network. Could be because I'm on ATT but I doubt it. Wifi still works. Trying to flash back to KD1 and still not able to connect to the network which I've never had a problem doing before. I'll post back after trying a few other things. I'm on Fast Don't Lie.
Tell me where to grab it, I'll give it a shot.

Nopers. Same issue. It's a pretty huge zip. It actually flashes two different files. If it's the same underlying modem hardware I'm sure someone could port this to our phone. I can say with 100% accuracy that I'm not smart enough to be that person
Someone over on the Sidekick 4G forum modified the Blaze's modem so that it works with the SK4G.

Try it out and report back might be a headache or work great! I'd be hesitant with original modem removing information giving the "insert Sim".. Also I flashed a modem a while back (infuse kk3 modem) it worked, but my clock time was off many hours. It didn't matter what modem I used after. I ended up doing a hard reset using gps aids to fix issue an fyi.

Hi eb13
Please track battery life as well.
I'm using the sidekick KD1 modem, which gave me better receptions, but I was told it costs some battery drain.
Also, can you please post modem here? I don't want to sign up just to download it. 10x!
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA
I also flashed it last night. No problems whatsoever, and I got the fastest upload and download speeds I've ever gotten (max. 9100 kbps download, 3400 kbps upload). Battery usage seems fine - I left the mobile network on overnight, and the battery only went down a couple of percentage points.
I think we have a winner here, but obviously individual results will vary. I'll try to post this in a separate post to make it more visible and include a download site that doesn't require a sign-up.

Which files did you two download?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
@Quietly: The file that is at the link in my post at the top of this page.
Yeah I lost you regarding the download link.
LB7 is not the port suggested (that was kj2) and it's also 20MB instead of 9MB...
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA
@itzik2sh: LB7 doesn't show up in the baseband version area in the Settings menu - people also reported this in the SK4G forum. But as I was flashing it in CWM, the phone reported that it flashed both the mdm.bin and amss.bin files. And I'm getting much better speeds. So you can take it or leave it.
The reason the file is so large is due to the presence of both .bins.
For reference, here is a link to the LB7 modem file that I uploaded to mediafire:

I use both. I use dev-host for things that I upload that will possibly have more traffic, as dropbox can't handle it. I use dropbox for personal stuff that I'm not uploading for the community. Dev-host has free hosting

Hello !!!
Guys, please help me to figure out which is the best modem that I can use in Brazil.
I found one good Brazilian Android Forum but, of course, it doesn't has an Infuse threads.
Current I'm using the JB Paranoind 2.53 with UCLB3 modem, but sometimes it doesn't work very well so I wanna try other modem.
Can I install modem from other models, like Samsung i9000 ???
If not, which other model is compatible ??
Thank you !!
In the Infuse DEV forum, you'll find a thread that has a link to modems that will properly flash to the MTD structure of the JB Paranoid .

I'm trying to find out a good modem to use in Brazil with my current provider.
In fact I look in all forums, PM some Brazilian users, but there are only a few guys with Infuse here.
Thanks !!
