I don't have a gTab, but if it's like other Sammy devices and you can get to download mode...you should be golden. You should be able to flash via Odin, if I'm correct. Just read more about how exactly to do it, and don't eff it up!
But seriously, if you can get to DL mode...and if it's like Sammy's phones, you're still good.
EDIT: You're in luck. It is quite like Sammy phones. Sounds like a 'soft-brick'. Read here. There's also a video-tut on how to repair it.
Check out sammobile. They'll have much useful information there, for you.
And lastly, you'll probably have better luck in the future posting this in the gTab forum. Good luck!

[Q] Possibly bricked, can't enter download mode/recovery mode

Title speaks for itself.
I've been lurking the forums for a few months, so... Hi! My tech vocab is limited, but I catch on quickly. Please bare with me.
Anyways, Kies wanted me to upgrade my firmware on my 7.0, so like... Yeah. Stupid me didn't remember that the device was sitting in my lap and connected to my computer WHILE going through the upgrade, and I was feeling uncomfortable, and moved. By doing that, the USB unplugged from the device. I've tried going through with the upgrade via Kies after, but... Just no. Now my device is stuck on the "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue" screen, and no matter how many times I try to reboot it, soft reboot, entering download mode, it always, ALWAYS, goes back to that screen.
So, I plug it in again, and connect it to Odin. But... Wait! I don't have any of the files I need. So I look around and download files instructed by several people for my specific device, but I don't think I need them for this specific problem.
What exactly do I need to get, and how to I put it all together in Odin to make my device work again? I don't really care if all my files get deleted (although it would be great if I could keep them), I just need to get this resolved before Tuesday, since I have textbooks on it that I need for classes.
tl;dr I'm lost, and I need a push in the right direction.
Thanks in advanced!
First, I know how nerve racking this is so I am going to try, and help. I am new to Samsung, but I would think that a stock firmware flash from Odin would fix it. Look in the development forums for officials firmware, and download it. I would give you a link, but you forgot to post what model you have. It can be important. Good luck.
P.S. congrats on joining xda. Sorry it took this o bring you onboard.

Ah! Thanks! I can't believe I forgot to post my model ahaha;
p3113.
I'll go ahead and look in that thread. If I come across any other problems, I'll post them here.
Update: I've clarified that I can't enter download mode. How do I go about flashing with Odin if I can't do that?
I got that screen before. Flash again using ODIN and a full charged laptop, do not load any pit file.

looks strange
switch off your device completely, now just press power button and volume "DOWN" button simultaneously and dont leave them.
well, it should not show the "SAMSUNG GALAXY TAB 2 7.0" thing and directly boots the screen into the download mode.
do you mean that, even on doing this too u get the error message as prescribed by you in your above comments--->"error updating firmwire" or something like that??? cz manufacturers first check your device is under warranty or not by entering into download mode(by checking the binary counter) and then booting and checking for root apps(some manufacturers dont check this thing, they just check binary counter)
well for entering into recovery mode u ve to do the reverse----->power button+volume "UP" button, but in this case you it should show that "SAMSUNG GALAXY TAB 2 7.0" thing, as soon as it display you should leave your power button but keep pressing your volume"UP" button.
do you mean even on doing this too you get the same error message?????
if yes, then it is likely that your device is permanently bricked(well, NOT SURE), but then you should consult to samsung for a replacement if its within warranty, else there may be some advanced users or software developers in this forum who may help you, i am just an amateur, sharing my experience with such devices.

[Completed] Verizon Galaxy Note 3 BIG ISSUES

Hey all, I'm new to the forum (although I've been crawling around for years without a name)
I recently got hold of a Verizon Galaxy Note 3 SM-900V from a buddy of mine who bricked it or something. I have great experience rooting my devices so I figured I'd take it from him and try and get it working.
I'm not 100% sure what he has tried to flash, and hasn't but I'll tell you where my issues are, maybe someone can help!
Device doesn't go passed the Verizon screen. The bootloader is unlocked, but by the looks of it he did NOT install any type of Recovery System other than the original Android one. I've tried to see if I could flash any on the device, but it appears I can only use SafeStrap, and in order to install the device must power fully on. I've gone into the normal Android Recovery, deleted Cache, and Data/Factory Reset multiple times. Still goes to Verizon Screen.
Than I figured I'll just push 4.4.2 back in through Odin. Nope. I have the stock firmware and everything, but it stops on Odin at Aboot and my phone will say Fused 3 Binary 2? I'm really lost on that, I know it's due to the bootloader being unlocked.
It seems the only thing in Odin that will pass is the "unified KK Firmware." I'm kinda at a lose on this phone (luckily it was free) but I really would like to get it working.
Thanks in advanced and I really appreciate all the hard work everyone does here.
I'm really stuck on this.
I can't load stock, I can't recover, I can't factory wipe. Anyone?
What version do I flash? NC4? MJE?
Also, when I try and flash with stock recovery (since my buddy didn't install Safestrap) I get a error message. I believe it's footer is wrong -signature verification failed. I'm not sure what this means?
Thank you guys. I'm sure I can get this phone to work since I can get it to turn on, it's not a full brick.
Hi!
Sorry for the late reply.
Here's a guide that hopefully can help. If not, ask for help in the thread....and those that know the device Best can assist you.

I really appreciate the help. I'm going to check it out and hopefully be good to go from here. Will update this thread with the info if it goes through, and if it doesn't I will be posting in the other. Again, thank you so much!
Ugh... Still no go. Same thing.
It fails at the aboot.mbn
Again...asking for help in that thread is your best bet.
I think there is something wrong with my bootloader. Is there a way to reset or lock it? I tried everything, it won't load past the red verizon screen.
I'm noticing my little Android in the back of Recovery Mode says "No Command" also. Kinda strange.
XDA Assist is here to help guide members to where they should be able to find help. We don't do support I'm afraid. Please ask in the thread I linked. And again, they know your device best.

[Completed] [Q] Biggest mess up with root ever! GT-P5100 now a GT-3100

Let me first explain the thought process that went on before this all happened:
I wanted to stream my Spotify from Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 GT-P5100 to my smart TV via BubbleUPNP. But I couldn't do this for a number of reasons: my tablet wasn't a rooted device or running Android 4.1+ or had the Xposed framework. So I set to work trying to root my device and upgrade it to 4.1 in the process.
I used Odin to root my device and install the Xposed framework. This all went very smoothly and was impressed.
But the biggest error of all came when I tried to upgrade my Android version by Odin to about 4.1
+.
I managed to get what I thought was the correct ".tar" file. But part way through I was faced with an error message saying "firmware upgrade encountered an issue" so I tried using Samsungs own "Kies" to recover my device. But I soon found out this would be no help because "gt-p5100 does not support initializing." so this application was useless. I then done a bit more digging around on the internet and found out that I can simply restore my device with the correct file on Odin again.
I don't quite know exactly what happened next but I'm presuming I made a ridiculously stupid error and downloaded and loaded the wrong file onto my device. My device now thinks it's a 7" "GT-P3100."
With the tablet being completely useless because the touch screen no longer works because of the confusion between the models and I cannot find the correct files to load onto Odin for it to work either, mainly because I've given up on things to even search.
I am asking this because I've tried for hours with no luck and need help restoring my tablet back to a "GT-5100" so I can then root it on Odin and upgrade the OS to 4.1+.
Please also note I could not simply upgrade my OS by going into setting/about device/etc.
I can see how this stupidity can being funny to others but my simple accident has cost me dearly and I would appreciate some help from other.
Thanks,
Mike.
Hi,
Normally flashing firmware from another device that's not yours is a brick, especially with Samsung.... But hopefully because it's another tab 2 firmware, you can fix yours. But definitely exercise caution in the future.
The place most are getting Samsung firmware, especially older models is sammobile website.
Other than that, any links I found on XDA for it are dead.
You obviously know how to flash with Odin, so try sammobile and find your correct firmware.
If you have further issues, you should ask for help in your device section, here,
> Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 > Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Good luck!
Okay I was worried it could be bricked, but if I managed to get an error message on an install to then be able to simply change the model with the wrong file, I hoped I could almost mess up an install to get back to that stage to then be able to completely re-install my original correct files.
Thank you I will try Sammobile. I think that might've even been where I got the wrong file from in the first place.
Thanks a lot for your reply it fills me with hope knowing there might be a way to rectify my mistake.

[Q] Need help to update Samsung Galaxy S III I9300

Hello folks,
i am new here, i have a problem with one of my friends mobile Samsung Galaxy S III I9300 Android v4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich), it so happened he dropped the mobile from his hand and from that moment, the device fails to load properly.
I tried to go to Recovery mode, by pressing Power key+DownVol key+Home key. The next screen was all fuzzy, it didn't show anything.
So i tried Power key+UpVol key(this time)+Home key, it showed a warning page, please see images to be more clear.
On continuing with the process, it went to Download mode.
I am little familiar with that process, since it is trying to update the device OS to a newer version of Android.
I did a little research and found out there was Android 4.4.4 Kit Kat available.
I can proceed to download that, but i want to know few things and i.e.,
The device is not Rooted.
CWR is not installed.
Whether it is safe to proceed with the update of Android Ice Cream Sandwich to Android Kit Kat.
I also found Galaxy S III can be updated to 4.3 (Jelly Bean), but i want your opinion which would be suitable for this device.
Thanks.
I do not want to brick my friends device, since i am getting paid to do this stuff. Hence i am requesting any kind of expert advice.
Thank you.
P.S: Any suggestion is welcommed and waiting for any reply impatiencly. Also if the moderator thinks this post must be in some other part of the forum, please do so. :fingers-crossed:
Hello again, i did a little research and found out this site, where it mentions in detail how to install ClockworkMod Recovery 6.0.4.7 on Galaxy S3 GT-I9300
http://trueandroid.com/install-clockworkmod-recovery-6-0-4-7-on-galaxy-s3-gt-i9300-how-to/
I did as mentioned in the tutorial and while opening the Odin, and checking the AP button, and selecting the non touch version of ClockworkMod Recovery 6.0.4.7 ; i am getting this error. Please see the snapshot.
It also say, PIT partition not found, does anyone know how to figure out this problem.
Or
Is it a hardware issue, do i need to change the motherboard or give it to technician to fix it.
First off: Have you tried posting it under the correct category on this forum? its under galaxy core... you have a galaxy S 3
Second, you can update if it stock... custom recoveries and roms do void warranty. That is, if the kitkat is for his phone it is no problem. upgrading wrong rom to your phone will mess with it yes. Boot loops and stuff.
Then again, if it droped I would rather have sent it in for repairs if it was still under the warranty .

I find it quite difficult to find my way in this forum, just newbie here.
But thank you for your concern. My friend has taken the mobile , he thinks its better to repair it by technician.
Enough of head-ache for a device that can't be repaired through updating, the mobile was trashed. Couldn't be salvaged through
updating.

I understand.
On top of the page there are 2 places you can enter stuff, one says "type to find device" and the other for searching all the forums. Writing i9300 - and clicking on the line - will get you the I 9300 forums

although this is not your model, these guys seem helpful in finding some pits.
also, this guy seems to know how to pull it. if you could find someone currently posting with your model, maybe you could sweet talk them into pulling it for you
thank you
