Team ICSSGS RC4 Issue - Captivate General

Sorry that I am posting here, but I do not have sufficient posts to post this in the development channel.
Last night I installed RC4 of Team ICSSGS and it is very slick. However, I have one major issue: When I call someone (or receive a call) - I cannot hear anything through my phone.
I can workaround this using speakerphone but that is clearly not a solution. Has anyone experienced this and can anyone suggest a resolution?
Thanks!

You might not have enough to post in development...but you can post in the dedicated Q&A thread or at the very very least posy in the Q&A section instead of general.

Thanks a bunch for the meaningful reply. The last modem I tried was radio-cm7-ics-captivate-xxjk9-signed.zip from Oxicottin's page. This didn't fix the problem, unfortunately.

They released another version of RC4.1 last night which combines the I9000 and I897 versions into the same package.
Installing this new release fixed my volume problem.

Not trying to talk badly about RC4 ICSSGS build but i found that the THS version of ICS to be much snappier and less problematic. Your mileage may vary of course. Moral of this post is try several different ones and see which is best on your device that suits your needs

The best GB out there?

I've tried about 3 diff. versions of GB on my SGS4G and have noticed the same problems from one to the next. The first problem is the low volume on the 1st ring. Another problem is the calls going straight to VM or at least after the first ring. The last is the call log and notification bar not showing missed calls. Are these normal issues with GB or am I special? I've read other posts in diff. phone forums via searching and people have mentioned it, but nothing in this forum. If there are not any fixes I'll probably return to FROYO. Its always boggled my mind reading these forums and trying out diff. roms on my phone. I usually end up with more problems than I had to start with after flashing diff. roms. Much respect to all of the devs for the time they spend on making new roms but, if the roms are going to be spotty, why bother releasing them? I don't know, maybe its just me. In short I would love to have that BULLET PROOF rom someday. Well, time to stop babbling. Thanks for looking.
I think you're posting in the wrong forum. This is the development forum. You're problems are not ones i have personally experienced with sgs4 GB leak roms. Please read the stickied sgs4g Bible and ten commandments.

This should probably be in Q&A. Regardless, I don't think the problems you're having are normal. I can say I've tried many different ROMs from here and haven't experienced those problems. It may be you need to do a factory data reset or something to try and get it back to normal.
As for GB ROMs, though, they're not official yet so it's difficult to have the expectation of bullet proof. All of the GB ROMs on here are created from leaked versions of the GB ROM from Samsung.
Once they release something official you'll have a more bullet-proof ROM (though not totally...nothing ever is) and the Dev ROMs will be even sweeter.
Best of luck to you, hope you get it figured it.

Read Read Read.... and before you ask a question unrelated to chit... read some more..... Ohooo and here's an idea pal.... try doing a search for your question.... as far as opinions on what GB is the best, like the old saying goes... opinions are like assholes - everybody's got one
Consider this reply as a flame or troll attempt. Just effin read! Thats the best GB rom. Read!

Is it normal for GB and not Froyo? Because on Froyo the first ring on my phone is loud. If it is a normal thing, it SUCKS.
The last time I remembered froyo had the low first ring too unless you installed a custom froyo ROM with it eliminated

So what ur saying is that its normal for samsung and not any other manufacturer? Because I'm sitting next to somebody right now that has a evo with GB 2.3.3 and their phone has a loud first ring. Hmmmmmmm

My phone came right from T-mobile with a loud first ring. And the custom Froyo that I have in it right now does have a loud first ring, but I'm not sure if the rom was altered to make it that way. If the custom rom can be altered to make the first ring loud on froyo, why can't it be done on GB? Just a question.

Probably because we don't have source for gingerbread. I believe the low first ring its a Samsung only feature. I like the feature because I have time to react before it rings loud especially in a silent environment.

I am Running GB Audiophile's Beautiful Sgs4g #2 KI3 - And I can't find CBS Sports Football in the market - If I load ICBINB GB, I can find CBS Sports Football in the market... anyone else heard or run into something like this ??

G2X Discussion Thread (CM Nightly issues, ICS updates, etc.)

Well everyone, since my KANG thread in the development section has become a discussion thread since official CM nightlies started again, I've decided to redirect the discussion to here. I'm going to ask the thread in the development section to be closed, so it can stop taking up space there...instead we'll take up space here! Lol. But anyways I want this to basically be a continuation of the old thread...you can talk about your G2X questions, comments, problems, etc. here. This will be especially geared toward CM-related problems, but all G2X-related topics are welcome here I hope that everyone will continue to help each other out, and of course I'll monitor the thread to help as much as I can and research things if necessary. Enjoy!
This isn't necessarily CM-related but I guess it is in a way. I have been trying out EB's build 1 of ICS and honestly for the most part it works great already. The only big glaring issue (that actually made me revert back to Gingerbread today) was the incoming call problem I've seen reported elsewhere that when you try to answer a call, your ringtone restarts and it doesn't appear to actually pick up.
As for the G2X in general, I'm a firm believer that most common issues have been strictly software-based, which makes the resources we have here on XDA something like miracle workers if you think about it.

As it is always said, it is best to do a full wipe. You never know what issues may stick behind or get caused by not doing a full wipe, but give it a shot and report back and hopefully you don't have issues.

CM Nightly 226/Unnamed & Kernels
Recently transitioned back to CM from MIUI. Anyone try out the newest 226 (unnamed) Nightly yet? I'm still rocking the CM7.1.0.1 Stable, but for kernel flashing purposes, I'm trying to decide on a nightly.
I've used Faux123's UV/OC kernels, but seem to have lost my copy of his v0.4.3 (long term CM7.1.0.1 support). So, the newest v0.4.8 and T15 or ELF Trinity's won't work with mine. I know chip's vary, but mine seems to not like even the ELF Trinity kernel (which has worked for a few peeps running CM7.1.0.1).
Anyway, the breakdown of my ramblings are:
1. Anyone try CM Nightly 226/Unnamed?
2. Anyone happen to have a copy of Faux123's v0.4.3 kernel (CM Battery Version, not the DS driver) lying around? Or a compatible Trinity (preferred, actually)?
Eh, I know #2 is more wishful thinking. I'm mostly interested in anyone's experience with Nightly 226/Unnamed.
Ah, good to be back on XDA and CM, at that. I rolled on MIUI for way too long. Nice GUI & the customization was awesome, but man is that sucker a memory hog! Not to mention the random reboots and screen freezes... I should have never left my good ol' CM. Hindsight and all...
The only issue that I ran into with cm7/cm9 is the low microphone. I know this has been brought up in the past, but has been ignored as well. Some users claimed that it only happen to certain phone, but I'm almost certain that the issue lies within the rom. I do hope someone can shed some lights on this, cause i do miss using CM7.
long story short, i have a wiped g2x. power button is a ***** to turn on to the point that my finger tips are sore from trying to get it to boot into recovery since last night. i can only seem to get 2 different screens trying to do this:
a) the lg boot animation which promtly freezes as the phone has been wiped & i probably haven't held the volume down button
b) the s/w screen used for flashing a recovery, etc
the phone is not mine but trying to help someone out. is there a timing to releasing the buttons? seems that when it goes to the s/w screen, lg appears for only about a second and then straight to that one. any help would be appreciated.
edit: posted it here only because i'd been following the old thread which led me to this one. i was trying to update to the latest while this happened. i started a similar thread in q&a so if it doesn't belong i''ll remove it, thanks
I've been in a loop like this before. Make sure you have done a battery pull. I think the key is not to hold the volume down button so long, and then be patient for recovery to load, it takes longer than expected in this situation.
Good luck.

I agree, this is by far the most annoying bug and the only "show stopper" I can think of on CM7. I do not think it's a 'phone-by-phone' thing, because if I flash to stock or Weapon G2X, my mic volume is fine. It's only on CM/CM-based ROMs, such as MIUI. I can't count the number of times where people have told me to "speak up" until I'm practically yelling into my phone. I think there's a bug with noise cancellation that causes it to be quieter than it should be.

All from my phone.
UCLD2 killed my bluetooth connection to car stereo. I'm back on UCLC4. Didn't get a chance to use UCLD2 enough to notice any differences from UCLC4 other than bluetooth is working again, and better than it was on Gingerbread.
The bluetooth problem seems to be kind of rare though. Not many folks are having it.
I'm having the same quandary as the original poster. Doing full wipe installs is a pain, and you don't want to do it more than necessary.
I understand why there are two bases, one based on the first leak, and one on the second, and I understand that the developer is trying to bring the second base zip's up to the point of the earlier one.
But to me, it doesn't make sense to keep updated the uclc4 ROM when he is developing the ucld2 ROM.
I would love to know the same thing. What's missing from the NEW ROM that's in the older one, and when might the newer ROM be up to date so that the old one could be deprecated (is that the right word?)
Harry
that wasn't the first posters question, he was more.interested in modem performance. As for ur question, seanscreamz is a great dev, and if he chooses to support two bases, that's fine by me
Been reading alot of threads in multiple posts.
Seems Rogers users in general are having more problems with UCLD2 and many have switched back to UCLC4.
I have UCLC4 and have had no issues with speed, bluetooth connectivity or caller ID. Any others???
Like to know if any Rogers users are running any ROM's with UCLD2 with no problems.
I am, ucld2 connectivity has been good. I hate to say it but as a general rule of thumb I only trust feedback from more prominent users, who have proven to be reliable and knowledgeable. In this case the chance of user error is greatly reduced. One such user that comes to mind is scrambled, and wali01x??? I believe, not too sure on him.
Back to main point, my connectivity on ucld2 has been comparable to UCLA3, which in was running with ics and the "unknown" bug until recently.
Bluetooth stack is problematic in ucld2 for sure, uclc4 was better. Seanscreamz has issued fixes for that attempting to revert to uclc4 one. There has been SOME good feedback in this, but I have yet to test for myself.
Thanks icenight89. Im new to the modding world. Iphone convert.
Did extensive testing today using 3 different speedtest sites and in different conditions. Conclusion... I couldn't find any difference in bandwidth performance between UCLD2 and UCLC4.
Going to do testing with bluetooth stack next solely in UCLD2. Bluetooth is very important for me. Hopefully these fixes are working well enough for me.

I am very impressed with the Bluetooth performance in Seanscreamz UCLD2 ROM. I modded my phone first with his UCLC4 version and still had problems.
Now on his UCLD2 version, many of the problems I had before even on GB are gone. For example Netflix audio out of sync with video.

You're an anomaly then honestly. Everyone else is reporting Bluetooth issues with ucld2, thats why sean pulled the Bluetooth libs from the first one and made cwm flashable zips for ucld2 base.
As for the rest of the bugs, yes, ucld2 is definitely smoother and less bug ridden

I too, am (happily!) an anomaly - I am running Sean's SKY ICS UCLD2 with the 8 update - no additional bluetooth related flashes, and have had no bluetooth problems, ha ha, yet.
And to the OP, I'm pretty happy with UCLD2 on my SGH-I727R; other than a few screen density related issues of my own making it's been perfectly stable and functional. Also, digging the looks.

[Q] Mobile Data Question

I recently installed Mr.Apocalypses' Genesis ROM Beta7. Everything works like a boss, however, my mobile data randomly drops. Now, my mobile data works flawlessly on other ICS ROMs for my G2X, even CM9.
I would like to know why this can be an issue on some ROMs and not on others.
You should probably pose this question in his ROM thread in development section. Better chance he will see it. It's a known issue but I don't know the reason why. I haven't tried any other ICS ROM's so I can't say which ones work/don't. They all use the same CM9 hax to start AFAIK.

The random data drops are issues that all ICS roms have, especially the ones that are 4.0.4 based. I explain this in the Genesis FAQ on post 2.

It's strange, when I first installed ics it was when Hellfire had just come out and nullifier was recommended when coming from gb builds. Just like everyone else I had to install twice, but I didn't get data drops. On the first few genesis betas I did the same thing and no data drops also. Only once I installed beta 5 and wiped with cwm and aroma did I see data drops. But when I installed beta 6, I only wiped with aroma and all is cherry. Better than cherry even, haven't noticed one issue except known and some freezes/touch screen issues in six guns. Could be coincidence or rom and kernel incompatibility issues, idk but just my experience. Great job on genesis Mr apoc, daily driver all day long! Woot

Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA
I believe the last hfs I was running was 1.4. Could be wrong I would have to check. Nothing wrong with hells rom though, I just like the aokp hybrid that mr apoc has built a bit more!
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA
I think HFS 1.4 was running Android 4.0.3 (I started with that ROM, too). Word on the forums is that data connectivity issues started with Android 4.0.4 which all current ROMs are using now and that will explain why you're now having data problems.
What I don't get is if that's the case, then why don't the ROMs just start using the old version again? Was it such an improvement that it's worth the hassle?
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA
As many of you can probably tell, I'm a newbie, so I'm restricted to the 10 posts before I could post in the Development sub thread. However, Mr. Apocalypse came by anyway and chimed in. Thanks to everyone for their contribution and to Mr. A for being such an awesome dev.

CM10 JB nightlies for Skyrocket - Unofficial

Since I'm a new user, the forums won't let me post links until I've posted 10 times, so until then: Download links are in the text file below
Hi Everyone,
I've noticed a lack of nightlies available for the Samasung Galaxy S2 LTE (rogers: SGH-I727r) / Skyrocket(AT&T: SGH-I727) for us flashaholics to get the latest and greatest from the guys down at CyanogenMod. So, I've decided I'll be running nightly builds with merged fixes (official ones, my own and anything anyone else wants to contribute) for everyone to share.
OK, I now realize the above is wrong. More accurately I will say a lack of developers helping to iron out the bugs and merge new things. So I'm contributing by building nightlies and developing fixes and hopefully others will contribute as well. The more the merrier right?
Download nightlies here
I am running these nightlies as my daily driver and so far everything is running very stable.
Working:
-too many to say, just look at what is not working
Known Issues:
-Bluetooth audio out of the box, read fix below.
-USB mass storage out of the box (see fix below)
-Occasional SODs (Sleep of Death a.k.a. doesn't wake up after locking screen)
Bluetooth fix:
This is confirmed to be working by myself. Connect to bluetooth audio device and make a call. If audio is still coming out of your phone then while still on the call, disable bluetooth and then re-enable it. Once it reconnects the audio should now be coming out of the bluetooth device and will continue working no matter how many times you reboot, shut off your bluetooth device(car) etc...
Click the link below to download an app to easily switch from MTP USB mode to USB mass storage mode
USB fix

If people could post their bugs up here, that would really help since I don't use every single feature of Android so some people may experience different issues than others.
When posting bugs, please post what other things you have installed that could potentially be relevant. Also, say what you were doing when said bug occurred.
If it is not on the known issues list, it is worth mentioning. If it is on the known issues list, post anyway! Maybe your post will lead to a fix.
Installation:
-you must have either TWRP or Clockwork mod recovery on your phone, I use TWRP but I'm sure CWM will work as well.
-from recovery, make a backup of your current set up in case these nightlies aren't for you.
-wipe cache, dalvik cache, /system and factory reset 3 times each (there have been weird reports of remnants of files after single wipes)
-flash the nightly of your choice
-flash Google apps if desired. I usually do this after the first boot just in case there are any issues so that debug is easier.
-reboot device and let sit for a few minutes to allow the system to initialise for the first time
-LTE and APNs are net set correctly after boot so you will have to go into system settings->More...->Mobile Networks and set Network Mode to LTE / GSM / WCDMA and select the appropriate Access Point Name as well. I know for Roger in Canada it should be ltemobile.apn
-enjoy your rom!
Upgrading from another one of "my" ROMs:
-download new nightly to your phone
-reboot into recovery
-no need to do any wipes unless you are experiencing difficulties
-flash new nightly from SD card
-boot for the first time. If some things aren't working, reboot and see if it fixes things. Sometimes after an upgrade I have no cell service until I reboot.
Note: It is possible that certain updates may break things as they are nightlies, not stable releases. Flash at your own risk, I do not take responsibility for anything that may go wrong, but I will try to help.

Since I'm a new user, the forums won't let me post links until I've posted 10 times, so until then: PM me for download URL, or someone pm me and post link below
Download nightlies here: I'm not allowed links PM me for DL URL... sorry
I am running these nightlies as my daily driver and so far everything is running very stable.
Working:
-too many to say, just look at what is not working
Not Working:
-Bluetooth audio (this is a common issue, there are fixes available. I will merge a fix in one of the upcoming nightlies)
-USB mass storage out of the box (see fix below)
Click the link below to download an app to easily switch from MTP USB mode to USB mass storage mode
Pm me...

I think rpr69 has unofficial nightlies. See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1871261
Unless I misunderstood your post...

You are right, however, apparently things like camera are broken(unles they've been fixed). I haven't tried them to be honest but it can't hurt to have someone else building and making fixes, right? Plus it looks like he has a flashable bluetooth fix which will most likely work with my builds. I'll give it a shot.
Thanks
Tom

Oh there is nothing wrong with someone else building and developing for sure. I'm just saying that there was another thread. Once you can post URLs, you might drop your build server URL in the unofficial nightly thread. Like you said, never hurts to have more people working towards solving problems.

With everyone complaining about new users coming in and demanding devs to make their phone cool, this new user comes here with a substantial contribution right outta the gate and this is how you repay him?

The camera has been working for weeks. The only thing right now that is a known issue is the irregular SOD's. I haven't experienced them to the level that some people have, but I have gotten them occasionally. Other than that, it's rock solid, at least in terms of what I use the phone for. Sure, there are little bugs here and there, but there is nothing that is a showstopper. It's been my daily pretty much since Alpha1 was released.
Tom
Thanks, I wasn't sure what stage those builds were at or what modifications were merged. Hopefully we can all contribute to making a solid ROM!

Yes! Yes! Scare the newbs away no matter what they may have to contribute! That's the best way to manage a community! /sarcasm

actually you will be making it more confusing for the noobs by having 2 unoffical cm 10 threads where both devs are building from the same source. there is less confusion unifying the threads & builds.
op i suggest you look at the BMP rookie thread in dev section and share your builds there.

They are built daily from bone stock CM10/TeamChopsticks sources, the only modification currently is the BT in-call audio fix, until it gets committed to trunk. I leave all the customization/modification of ROMS to people who know what they are doing. For anyone who wants pure CM10, use my builds (or yours assuming they are untouched), for anything else, look elsewhere.
@quikt
Definitely something to consider however I am too new and I am not permitted to post in the dev section.
Also, if we are merging different fixes, then we are not building identical ROMs which then makes my builds relevant (I hope). For noobs, they are presented a choice. Both RPR and I try to present as many details as we can to allow them to make an educated choice. Although you may be right. I'm not a noob with this sort of thing so I don't know if its confusing, I'm just trying to help.
I honestly didn't expect this much criticism contributing to an open source community...

not sure how you plan on merging fixes, but if u merge like the rest of the CM devs, the gents here are still going to be building off the same code hence the same builds.
u are getting flak because we have a cm10 unofficial thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1871261
K maybe merge isn't the right word. I mean compile my own fixes and submit merge requests to the cm stream. So basically changes will be made here before they are uploaded to the cm repos.

Dude, keep your thread and start pumping them out.
Forget about noobs, they aren't the reason the forum was made and you don't have an obligation to any of it.
Your thread is justified because it isn't the same as rpr and that's all that matters. If people have a problem, they won't download your work and if noobs are confused with choice, they can go back to their trusted old source.
Looking forward to checking out your work. Hopefully you don't waste any more time on this useless discussion.

Bro keep your head up and build your ROMs. Honestly don't know where the criticism is coming from but lots of devs pull from source and make their own fixes to AOSP code. You're good to go and I look forward to seeing your work.

I wasn't criticising, at least I hope that wasn't how my comments were taken. I am not a developer, I just build, if you can actually fix things, more power to you!

No you weren't criticising, thanks for the insight into what you're working on. Much appreciated!
btw I am a dev and will be fixing things if people were wondering. I'll be updating a change log in the main post as I roll along.
