RGB Led Strip controlled by any modern Smartphone/Tablet - General Topics

Hey guys
I wrote some OpenSource Arduino code to control a 5m long RGB LED strip with my Android Phone. I use OSC Messages to communicate, so this works fine with all major mobile OS. This intelligent LED Strip supports DHCP and Bonjour, so its quite easy to adress this device.
Here is a little video of the LED Strip controlled by an iPad. I published more details about this project on my website http://pixelinvaders.ch.
A nice screenshot:

Hope you guys like it, and I'm still looking for a VERY good OSC App for Android, any ideas? (Control is the best I found)

That looks pretty darn cool. Is your Android code on your site as well? I've been interested it toying around with some Android to Arduino control and that would sure give me a jump start.
Keep up the good work! I love seeing guys doing DIY projects like this.

hey martin
I use standard OSC messages, so I did not have to create a special client. however, android osc clients are far from perfect, I hope someone will release a killer OSC app soon for Android...

That's awesome, I'm about to move house so would like to put some nice new lighting in - this gives me inspiration! Thanks!

Thanks stuart!
I hope this makes your new house looks cool

No possibility to use the infrared sensor of the HTC M7 to control the strip?!
Gesendet von meinem HTC One mit Tapatalk 2

Was this project discontinued? Looks like all the links to the stores are dead or out of stock.

adding a infrared reciever to the arduino should be pretty easy, however you would need to write a mobile application, which could send the commands.
and the project and website is still alive, see http://shop.pixelinvaders.ch/product/stripinvaders-5m-rgb-light-strip
which links are dead?
cheers

Electric ball

Hi guys,
I checked out the HTC hologram app on you tube and was very impressed..
I have a request for a similar app, might be interesting for most of us..
I had this electric glass ball which connects to my PC via USB.. when u touch on it, it gathers all the light at your finger..
I beleive most us know what I am talking about...
Can we have something similar to electric ball.. where in you can have different color rays on device screen(like hologram) and when we touch the screen, all the vibrating rays come to your finger, just like u are touching the electric ball..
It would be really great if someone can make one... I am sure this app will be unique..
Just had an idea....! Hope I was a developer..

indeed, man, it would be nice idea.
(gentle bump).
it could be square with clock(with CUSTOMIZABLE digits) inside(= nice cradle clock)
good idea
oh yes, that would be so awesome!
would be lovely (and more realistic) if it supported multitouch (for HD2) too...
If someone is making this app, plz make it compatible with Omnia i8000
Are there any developers interested in making this app...???
If some1 is trying to make.. plz let us know.. atleast we can wait...
Looks lyk all the developers are busy..
That electric ball would pretty cool on the screen!
There is now a plasma ball application
Hi there,
I've just seen the kind of plasma ball application that you are after. Unfortunately, this forum will not allow me to post links, being a newbie and all, but if you go to the modaco site I have posted a link to the program in the thread that was started there in the Pocket PC/Windows Mobile Professional (Touchscreen) -> Pocket PC Software forum.
Cheers,
David.
No 1 replied if they were making any such app...
NEways I found something similar (on XDA-Forum itself) or may be something I was actually looking for.. The Plasma Ball check the link below...
I will download the free version once I go home...
For all others who are interested in the app get it from the below link..
The Lite version is free.... so download and check..

Thank you so much for this! Will have a look at it and see how can I use it. Just started coding for Android few weeks back and I have an idea in mind that is somehow similar to this. Dont really think i will know how to use it but i will try my best. Don't worry, I with give you full credit! Thank you once again! Really appreciate it!!
You're welcome
The class is ready to use as a SurfaceView.
Just change the package name.

Dead Trigger with Tegra 3 details on Sensation

I searched for a thread like this for sensation but couldn't find one so I thought I would start one.
You can enable the advanced tegra3 effects like ragdoll and improved lighting and water shaders by editing an XML file stored in your system partition. You will need root to be able to do this.

Make sure you set permissions correctly as I lost some progress by doing it wrong. They should be:
Read Write Exec
X - - User
X - - Group
X - - Other
If you set these wrong then it will either not work or you could lose all your progress. It is a good idea to backup your progress before editing the file by copying it to your sdcard.
This game is great fun, especially if you have a spare PS3 pad lying around and can pair it to your phone. Set the input settings in android settings so its recognised as a standard gamepad for it to work in this game. You will have to set the buttons in dead triggers settings. Unfortunately the pad doesn't work for menus but works great for playing!
Our sensations seem more than capable of ultra settings. I average just over 30 fps most of the time.
Enjoy!
We could also use this thread to share in game names to add to our friends lists. Mine is Ferocious.
lol they say those graphics could ONLY be done on tegra 3...while it's working perfect on our Adreno....the levels the lies can reach to make you buy a new product is beyond...way beyond.
would like to inform that this works, shame on Nvidia.
Awesome mate! 5 stars to you! Thank you for bringing this to our attention!
No worries guys. Glad to be of some help.
Is it just me or is the only level with water on the floor the very first one? I'm up to level 12 now (getting radio stuff) and have not seen another one with it in.
Ragdolls are fun!

Hi XDA! You might have seen my previous app, PulseFlash which was made in the process of learning Android app development. This is once again made for the same reason.
This tiny Compass app was made Graphics Designer new to the app development scene, thus it is very clean. I've utilized most of Android's framework, making this app fit right in!
This app doesn't need any permissions from Android. The hardware used is sensors already available.
jfeinstein10 for his amazing SlidingMenu library.
A lot of folks over at Stackoverflow.
@SpaceCaker who is my personal Android Wikipedia, didn't help me in this case, but awesome guy anyway.
The main source code is available at my Github, I did not share the graphics, nor styling files. Feel free to use the code, but please do not recreate my app, or something very similar and then share it publicly.
Please do not mirror - I'd like to track my downloads

Not yet no. I am not capable to pay the Google Developer fee yet.
I'm having a question. You're using TYPE_ORIENTATION for the sensor. Isn't this deprecated since API Level 6?

Yes it is, thanks for pointing out!
But I found that when I use a workaround I end up needing more permissions which I don't want to do. Anyhow thanks for the heads up!
It works well, thanks.
Good job, great and simple all, I read in the details that you're 14, if I were you I'd be beyond proud to do something like this at such a young age

Remote control and *view* your phone camera with Android Wear

Just wrote an Android Wear app to remote control *and view* your cell phone camera live. I have a series of other hacks I plan to do in the near future but here's a start. Open source too so hope people can help contribute and make it better! Welcome feedback, pull requests, suggestions.
On the play store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dheera.wearcamera
Source on GitHub:
https://github.com/dheera/android-wearcamera
Post on my website:
http://dheera.net/projects/android-wearcamera
Now you can spy on people and take photos of them without them knowing it xD
Very cool app. Works well. Thanks for this!!

This is brilliant!!! Absolutely brilliant!!!
Well done!
Totally awesome app!
I've made a bunch of updates to Wear Camera Remote since the first release now. I've added basic support for turning the flash on/off and switching between front/rear camera. But I'm doing it differently than all those paid apps (e.g. Pixtocam) in that I want the UI to blend in well with Google's UI. Also small buttons on a smartwatch is awful to use.
More features to come in the future when I get time, stay tuned. Or if someone wants to help extend this vision, it *is* an open source GPL project.

Awsome app !
Can you consider for the next version to be able to disable the screen on the phone ?
It's this for nexus devices only or all phones? It doesn't seem to work on my LG G3.

Not working on my HTC One either. The only app that's given me phone->watch video is LookBehind but it cost like $2. In any event, people are blown away by this James Bond-esque feature
