[Q] Whats just like the GO TaskManager widget? - General Questions and Answers

I stopped using GO Launcher (now using ADW EX) but I really liked the GO TaskManager widget. Anybody know of a app that's just like that?
(meaning it shows the currently running apps and lets me quickly kill any I want right in the widget. It also shows the available RAM)
I have tried many and non is like the GO TM?

Wow. As of yesterday, I'm looking for the exact same thing for the exact same reason (switching to ADW Launcher.) I know that doesn't help you any, but you're not alone in the search. If I find anything, I'll post back here.

I would also love to have something like this.
I just started looking myself, but I will post back if I find anything.

I found this one which is somewhat like GoTaskManager (but not as good)

Hello guys, i just got my Xperia X10i yesterday and man i got so many questions cos i am abit confused. Well my first impression of the phone wasnt that good, the phone was abit boring with that one and only classic blue theme but today i found out the ADW launcher and got some new themes and i started to like the whole thing
Well to my questions now: Are there only those few(think they are like 10) ADW themes that are in the market that i can aply to the phone ?
On the market i can see different thems that requires the GDE thing, how can i get that ?
When i press the button in the middle of the phone, i can choose between the ADW.launcher, 91PandaHome, aHome Lite, Start and Timescape well for example the aHome Lite doesnt seem to work, neither the PandaHome, are they some sort of theme launchers too or what?
Well im currently using the ADW launcher and you know the bar with the wifi and bluetooth widgets just dissapeared how can i get that back ?
And last, i have been reading about rooting the phone, was does that mean? what does that do ? and can i do it by myself?
Thank you for any help and sorry for those noobish questions
I just want to know the phone abit better
GDE:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=697875
To get back the Wifi and Bluetooth , Press on the empty area, widgets - quick settings....
I can choose between the ADW.launcher, 91PandaHome, aHome Lite, Start and Timescape well for example the aHome Lite doesnt seem to work, neither the PandaHome, are they some sort of theme launchers too or what? Yes, they are......
I have been reading about rooting the phone, was does that mean? what does that do ? and can i do it by myself? Rootingis like Admin Access to the System and if you are used to Windows, then it is like changing Registry to edit the system..... For more Go to Android Development section and go through the Xploid One Click Root Topics, easy to root and also to Unroot. For your conv, I have added the .apk here....
There aren't many ADW Launcher themes at the moment.
They are launchers as well but you have to download them from The Market. There are more themes to choose from for PandaHome and aHome. I've tried them myself, and decided to stick with ADW. It all depends on your preference.
Add the power widget (Click the left button -> Add -> Widget -> Choose from the list)
Rooting is like attaining administrator rights on your computer.
If you are new, you should most probably use this tutorial on xperia10.net (Sorry, I am not allowed to post external links ) Of course you can use the link posted above. I just find the one on the external link more pedagogical.
However, you should investigate more about the pros and cons of rooting and having a rooted mobile before you decide to do it.
Thank you for the answers guys!
Well as for the aHome and PandaHome launchers where can i find those? I have been looking around on the market but couldnt find any launcher only the themes.
As for the rooting, what are the + things with it, is it worth trying?
I have been reading that things could get bad if you dont know what you are doing, like that you cant use the phone anymore if u do something wrong ?
As for the GDE thing i have read the thread and i understand that this not available until you pay it right ? cos you need to have a sort of password..
Anyway which do you think is the best launcher of all those ?
Thanks once again for your time!
Re: Beginer
Hey mate, I believe the best theme (launcher) for the xperia x10 is ADW by far. It lets you have more home screens and speeds up and saves the phones battery by alot. As for pandahome and GDE im sure they are on the market somewhere, but i can say (as i have used them) they are not as userfriendly as ADW is.
They just have alot of themes but ADW is more practical.
P.S alot of ADW's settings can be changed through their settings menu (home screen -> menu button -> ADW settings) play around with these and throw in a few backgrounds and cool widgets and trust me you can create much better themes than with other home alternatives (panda gde etc)
Enjoy

[Q] Google Search Widget

I would like to know how (if it's possible) to get the stock (white) Google Search widget for my X10, preferably without changing anything else (ie, using ADW Launcher or something similar) The one that came with the phone is transparent and ugly...
Sorry if this question has been answered somewhere else, I did some searching but couldn't find the information I was looking for.
My phone isn't rooted, but if necessary I can do that.
iam interested in a black one too...
but dont want to flash a new theme just because of that...
thx in advance...
is it wrong of me to like the x10 search widget? lol

[BUG] ADWLauncher EX Customize Menu failure

I recently upgraded from the CM7 stock ADW.Launcher (1.3.6) to ADWLauncher EX 1.2.2.
Firstly, I want to support the Dev of one of the best and most popular Apps out there.
The Feature I was most interested in was the ability to edit the Menu (I hate that More \|/ dropdown, totally unnecessary clicking).
When I try to do this:
Menu>More>ADWSettings>General Behavior>System Preferences>Customize Menu>
and then uncheck items, and/or move them around, the changes don't stick when I go back to my Home Screen.
Or more accurately, they stick about 1 in 20 tries, but I have found no rhyme or reason to it.
Anyone else experienced this same problem?
I was also discussing this on the CM Forum
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/18309-force-adwlauncher-settings-into-settings-menu/
And I'll post a comment directly on the ADWLauncher EX page as well
http://jbthemes.com/anderweb/2011/01/adwlauncher-ex-1-2-2-released/#comments
Workaround
Well, I think this is almost certainly a bug, but I did figure out a workaround.
Menu>More>ADWSettings>General Behavior>System Preferences>Customize Menu>
Make the change(s) you want
Press Back button
Click back into Customize Menu>
Make the change(s) you want again
Press Home button
A way to put the ADW Launcher EX menu back into the settings menu?

I read your post on the other forum and was wondering if you or others have found a way to put the ADW Launcher EX menu back into the settings menu?
Once I purchased the EX version, made it my default, and deleted the regular ADW launcher, the ADW menu disappeared from the settings menu. I also tried to use root manager and move the file to /system/app folder from the /data/app, rebooted but nothing shows up.
Anyone have a solution to this?
No solution yet

Sorry to say, I haven't really come up with anything yet.
For the time being, I have settled on using the Customize Menu option, according to the hack I described above.
Since my [REQUEST] in the CM forum went totally unresponded, I think I will submit it in the Bug Tracker.
Skrki was discussing how Requests should be best handled, but until a more unified (and possibly democratic) approach is implemented, I think I'll just double-post in the Forums and Bug Tracker, and give links to each other.
I asked some devs here as well and they don't seem to know either... Let us know here if anyone reponds to you from the CM forums with an answer thanks!
This continues to be an issue...Customize Menu still does nothing, the workaround previously mentions seems to have some effect, but half of the menu items don't show up at all, regardless of what I do.
It's driving me nuts that I can't access the "Manage Apps" or "Remove Catalog" options...I don't even know what they do but they sound useful.
Has any progress been made on this?
I've tried using the workaround. It works, but not for the "Manage Apps". It is listed as enabled, but doesn't show. By far my most used menu item on stock, wish I could have it here.
I also found that the customize dock bar options dont stick either. Not sure what the issue is
So glad I found this thread confirming that I'm not crazy. No matter what I do the 'Manage Apps' button doesn't show up. Everything else seems to work fine, but this one button doesn't show. This happened on both my stock unrooted Nexus One and on a CM7 Nexus one (both with ADW Launcher EX). Since its been awhile anyone has posted here, as anyone found a solution yet?
Thanks.

[Q] Using ZEUS Rom -- Couple of questions?

Hey everyone,
I have been playing around with the ZEUS Rom and had a couple of questions:
Is there any way to turn on the ability to make icons move when one is moved on top of it? (ala iPhone)
Is there any way to create folders?
Is there any way to turn off the digital menu buttons? (Kind of replicas of the hardware ones on my phone, with one that goes back, one that looks at the windows, and one that shows running apps).
Is there an easy way to obtain more fonts / themes for this rom?
And finally a weird one: Is there a compendium of safe voltages to undervolt the phone to? (I want to OC it / undervolt it - I'm using Antutu)
Many thanks and sorry if these questions have been asked before... I couldn't find a clear answer and I am still not able to PM people

1. Icons can't be placed on top of each other but can overlap.
2. To create folders and such you have to find a launcher that will allow you to do so.
3. There are quite a few themes floating around. Look in the themes and apps section in Experiments thread.
4. Fonts can also be found in market.
5. To OC/UV you have a kernel that does so such as the one that come with the rom. Use voltage control to adjust. Each phone is different to each setting. I personally OC to 1600, remove 800 and -75 across the board.

Thanks for the fast reply... just a follow-up then I guess:
For question 1... there is no way to shift icons around by moving one on top of the other? It's such a pain to have to move 'em around and to different screens individually as opposed to shuffling them.
For question 2... How do I find what launcher I'm using / how can I install a new one?
If there is a place where these questions have been asked I'll gladly check that out... no luck searching though.
Thanks again!

You're using the Native Samsung launcher, "TouchWiz". This particular rom has TW4 (TouchWiz v4). You can download new launchers from the Market. Pressing the home button will bring up a menu asking you which launcher you'd like to use. You can the default whichever launcher you like best. Some of the best known launchers from the Market are ADW Launcher, Go Launcher, and LauncherPro. I personally like Go Launcher. I believe all of these will allow you to create folders and have apps "automatically scoot" when placing one over the other. Holding the app over another app for an extended period of time will create the folder. Let me know if you have any other questions. It took a long time for me to understand the whole launcher concept. You can literally change the look of your phone within seconds. It's one of the reasons I love Android.

I don't understand question 1. I'm not gettwwhat your wanting to do.
And for 2, you look in the market for a different launcher that suits your needs. Also there are apps that may do what you want as well. You'll just have to do some looking around.
When you choose and download a launcher , once done and you return to your home screen. Touch the home button and it should ask you what launcher you want to run. It will continue to ask you that unless you select the option at the bottom of that screen to run as default.
If your using Zeus your either using touchwiz or ice cream sandwich launcher.

[Q] LMT Launcher conflicting with other apps

First off, I hope this is posted in the right place, I'm not allowed because of post count to post in the developer forum where the LMT Launcher discussions are happening. Here is the issue I'm having: I've set up the right center ISA to run a takser task, but what happens is even though the LMT Launcher works as desired, the swipe registers in whatever other app I'm running, e.g. options in Dolphin Browser, next track in Rhapsody, next screen on the homescreen. How can I give priority to the ISA and prevent the app that I'm running from registering the swipe?
Again, sorry if this is posted in the wrong place, not quite sure exactly where to ask
BTW, I have a Droid Bionic running both stock 4.1.2 and CM 10.1.3 if that makes a difference.
Thanks
