Unable to change the sound and haptic feedback for swype - Samsung Galaxy Tab Plus

Im not sure what happened but I can no longer change the sound or vibrate settings for swype. They are both ticked, but greyed out. And it doesnt make sounds or vibrate when using the keyboard. I think something must be overriding it, but I dont know what. Ive tried changing the same settings in settings/ sound, but the options in swypes preferences are still greyed out.

Using ICS I had the same problem. You probably resolved your issue since you posted (or found a workaround) but for future reference :
- to be able to set sound for swype you have to tick on keytones in sound settings
- to be able to set haptic feedback for swype you have to tick on vibrate on screen tap in sound settings.

Disable vibration

I have been trying for the life of me to disable the vibrate on connect function on my phone as it emits a loud and disturbing sound to the person on the other end of the phone. This includes, reg edits, unchecking the option, etc etc etc. I have come to the conclusion that I am happy disabling vibration on my phone completely if this will ensure the vibrate on connect stops. Anyone have any ideas? preferrably reg edits or something loike that rather that physical changes to the phone
thanks
AFAIK you can "enable" the vibrate on connect in more than 1 way, i can only find 2 of them right now, but i thought there was more.
1) Settings/phone/advanced
2) S2U2
Obvisously if you have other call tweak software installed there could be another option in there.
I have the "windows" selection unchecked, but the option enabled in S2U2 and i get the vibrate on connect, so you'll want to track down any other options & make sure they are all selected off.
Also if your using PhoneAlarm make sure you turn it off in the settings, drove me nuts till I found this setting in PhoneAlarm

You changed under sounds and notifications for "connection established" and "connection disconnected"?

[Q] vibrate doesnt work for text messages

ok so my phone wont vibrate when i get a new text message. it may rarely work but more often than not it does nothing.
i have it set to 'vibrate only in silent mode' and then i switch it "vibrate" either thru the lock screen slider or using the volume keys but nothing works.
anyone else have this issue? fix?
is there a setting or way to make it have a separate vibrate and silent mode? like "ringer" "vibrate" "silent"
Can you check at "Text Messaging - (Menu Key Touch) - Message Settings -
Notification Settings - Virbrate Option"
I checked this option and it works perfectly.
Sound setting - Vibrate mode effects only about call mode.
Message Sound and Vibration mode works separately.
hmm thanks but thats not what i want. i dont want it to vibrate and play the sound. i just want it to vibrate when its in vibrate mode....

Did you try the "only when silent" setting within the text messages>settings>Vibrate? To me that means it should only vibrate but who knows if that's how it actually works.
(I feel embarrassed that I've had my D2 since September and never realized that's why my texts never vibrated. I just thought I had gotten used to the vibration I never felt it. lol)
I used to had the same problem and the solution that work for me was downloading this app called "VIBRATION WIDGET".. You just search for it on the market (i cant post links for now)
This is a widget that when you activate it pops up a window that ask you to turn on the vibration (notifications, calls, messages, etc) just click YES/ACTIVATE and there you have it. Problem solved
Sorry about my awefull english
Thanks button if you find this usefull

I have a Samsung Galaxy SIII through Virgin Mobile. I have a custom vibrate pattern set but when I get a text message the default vibrate pattern plays (two short vibrates). I am using the stock messenger app.
This is really frustrating does anyone have a solution?

[Q] How do I get vibration alerts?

My ringer is usually off and I can't keep looking at my screen (e.g., for NoLED) when I'm with patients. I've been unable to get vibration notifications of incoming text messages, although as far as I can tell I've selected everything to do with vibration in Settings.
Surely there's a way to get this that I'm missing.
in the sound settings, select vibrate and choose an option like vibrate only in silent mode or always. in the messages app, choose settings and select vibrate. choose vibrate only in silent mode or always

Right. I've done that (Vibrate Always in both Settings and Messaging), yet it doesn't vibrate for anything except calls.
be certain that notifications are enabled in the messaging app.
there was a similar problem on a couple htc phones i had. i used a program from the market called 'sound manager', i believe it was. then i set everything the way i wanted it, did a test and vibrate worked. then when i deleted the sound manager app the settings stuck and my messages still alerted via vibration. good luck.
I'm starting to think this might be a Gingerbread bug, man, cuz I don't get vibrations on text either
I used to think it was CM7 but I have the same problem on stock.

[Q] how to disable vibratory alert/notification

I have disabled all type of vibratory settings in my sensation but somehow whenever my data connection gets disconnected the notification comes with vibration and sometimes it happens in quick succession which is very annoying.
can anybody help in disabling this vibratory notification. this is the only notification that vibrates all others are fine. by the way i have a rooted device but with stock rom.
In settings/sound you can disable the vibration. Have you tried that?
i have unchecked all vibrate options like in sound settings, feedback and even in settings of received and sent message options

HelFire v2.2 how to disable haptic feedback on dial pad?

I've disabled haptic feedback in regular settings and also disabled it in cynogen settings? Does anyone know why it is still vibrating when I dial? Maybe there is another menu to disable?
Also, I cant seem to stop the phone from vibrating while ringing. Thanks
I'm not sure about the haptic feedback problem. The vibrate while ringing option is found under the Sound Menu in Settings. Did you toggle that?

Yea I don't see any "vibrate while ringing option" in settings/sounds.
