Hello there,
I hope some one can help me out with my Cifs Manager problem, i flashed a cifs comp. rom (Android Revolution HD™ 2.3.2) and installed Cifs Manager.
Whatever i config in my mount point i alway got the following message :
Mounting the share failed with an error
mount: invalid arguments
This drive me mad as i also own an HTC desire on which i use CM without any problems
Ala help is welcome!
with kind regards,
8t88

I have had this happen once before. I just deleted the mount and fully shut down and restarted the transformer and recreated the mount from scratch and it worked.
Never knew why, but it ha worked fine ever since.

You need to ensure the module is loaded by default at boot. Even though you have a Cifs capable ROM, the module wont be running until you enable it. Go into the settings, check the tickboxes for 'Attempt to load Cifs modules at boot' and 'Load via Insmod' and then restart the TF'er. Remount the share and it should work.

I'm using the Android Revolution HD rom which has support for utf-8 :

Did all that, but it will not work at all. All i got is these error message's, is there someone who can get me a detailed dummie how to? I think it has something to do with the way my Transformer handles the Cifs as my HTC desire works flawless with Cifsmanager.
Please anyone......
BTW the error i'm getting now is :
mounting the device has failes with an error
mount: no such device

Are you trying to mount a location on the sd card? That is fat32 and I had issues so I switched to samba fileshare. Now I wirelessly transfer from sd card of phone to sd card of transformer as well as windows shares. It actually works when I ad hoc tether as well using wireless tether app and ghost commander file manager. Samba also has a wifi whitelist which will only activate your shares on wireless networks you choose.

Thanx for your answer, i'm using a 16GB fat32 formatted MicroSD card, and the main purpose of cifsmanager has to be a connection to a share on my synology which contains cbr files. So that i can browse and read easy on my transformer.
I have this all working on my HTC desire, but when i copy those settings on to my transformer the damn thing doesn't work at all.
Can you please help me out with instructions to figure this out?
with kind regards,
Marco

We would need to know the technical details and set up of the HTC and see what might be different on the Transformer. I noticed Samba file share had issues when I went to ICS on the Transformer.

Mount SMB-Shares like cifsmanager without root

Hi,
I want to mount a samba share to a mountpoint, I can access with severall apps. CIFSmanager can do that, but only with root.
I won't root my Incredible S. Is there a way to do this without root?
Thx!
AndSMB (https://market.android.com/details?id=lysesoft.andsmb&feature=search_result) worked fine for me on my Inspire 4G and didn't require root.
ps. Sorry about the text only link ... I'd post a QR code but I don't have enough posts yet.
Hey thank You,
but the difficulty seems to be mounting the share to a place below /sdcard, so I can reach it with several other tools.
Thx!
I also wamt to mount smb shares
Hi there
I hope this is the best starting place
I have a HAIPAD M7 MID TABLET PC Android 2.3 8GB
I want to access my nas drive file direct, I need to mount the share, but I know I know only just enough about lnix so would prefer to not root device.
I want the media player to "see" the nas just like a sd card or the music folder
Are there any guides etc
Many Thanks
Ian

[Q] E: Cant mount /sdcard - CWR

Hi guys and gals. I'm a complete newb when it comes to tinkering with Android, I have a little experience with iProducts as I have mucked around with them for a while. Jailbreaking an iProduct is piss easy compared to this!
I have just unlocked & flashed my Xoom with JWTylers One click method here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1011196
All works well. In the 'about' section it showed the Tiamat kernel to be 1.1.6, or something like that. I also downloaded Rom Manager and flashed CWR through it. What I wanted to achieve was external sdcard functionality, so I tried reflashing with this step to 1.3.1 ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13036180&postcount=497
Worked a peach.
So, I did everything step by step, and created a new folder called 'sdcard2' in the sdcard directory. After finishing everything I downloaded the 1.3.2 zip and moved it from downloads to sdcard2 folder with Root Explorer? Ran the CWR recovery and when I go to press the flash zip from sdcard I get an error: E: Cant mount /sdcard".
I dont have an sdcard in the slot while I'm doing this, so, I don't know if this is the cause.
Any help to explaining this would be great!
Hey, just flash the new Timat kernal 1.4.0 and download auto mount from the market and your set!

Hi, thx for your reply. Can I just download the file directly to'my downloads folder on my Xoom, like I did in the second link I pasted in my post, and follow those steps? I also mentioned that I don't have an sdcard inserted. Would this make any difference as to why I'm getting the error message in CWR?

Appreciate your help. I'll be getting my sdcard soon, I hope it works.
I also did download an auto mount program from market. What is it exactly suppose to do? It had one option at the top to tick which was to auto mount, and that was it. I suppose it runs in the background doing it's thing?
OK. I got the sdcard working, I flashed to 1.3.2.
I can transfer stuff onto my sdcard2 within my xoom and it will show when i insert the card into my PC. It won't work the other way around though. I can't get the files to show up in root explorer, or with any media player even if its a video file. Why is that? Is there a work around?
All help appreciated.

I don't know which kernel you installed, but with my kernel you don't need any modules at all - just mount and go.

OK I'm using cifs manager as well.
So I have share as 192.168.0.5/Music
Mount as /mnt/cifs/music
Login as guest
Load cifs modules on startup and do not use insmod as you don't need it.
I have seen, that I´m using Comi V4.7, now I download V5.
I will use DATA2SD again, are in V5 Kernels included with DATA2SD Support?
Also I have activatet Gast Account on my System, but I become permission denied Error too.
Insmod is not activatet.
CIFS Load on Startup is activ.
Maybe I´m wrong, but I remember to somewhat to do in Regestrie to using the guest account....

I also dont know what wend wrong here...
I have checked and disebled Firewall in my Fritz.Box and on my PC, nothing was blocked.
And yes, connected via the same Router over Wlan.
With ES File Explorer I have acces to the Directorys on my PC.
Now I have Installed Cromi V5 and it has Data2SD Kernels and Support.
Now first start runs and I will try it with new Rom...
New Rom is installed, but also here I have some Problems, not only with cifs...
Now cifs Error is again, no such file or directory...
...but I have found an other possibility to play my Files on Asus Pad.
Splashtop and Power Cinema V5 on PC. Works fine. I have full control over the tab to the pc desktop. Start Power Cinema, choose Music and the Sound comes from the Tablet only, I can also browse and start an play all my Files...
Is not the perfect way, but now I will try to connect the Pad via mini-HdMI-HDMI to my Yamaha Receiver.
Also I think that was not a clean installation.
I have flshed first mod_Data2SD.zip and bevor that I have wiped Cache and Dalvik.
Than I have flashed also with perform a full wipe the new Cromi V5 and the second Kernel I have choosen.
After the Reboot, all Apps, installed in the Crome V4.7 are still there...
Maybe I have some missunderstandings about Data2SD using.
I have to read and read again.
This is not my first Android an Flash... I have flashed some HTC, Samsung, unlocked, rootet ans so on, but the Asus confused me...
Hope for changes...

Well if you had data2sd on 4.7 and updated to 5.0 then you will still see the apps. I force it to use the correct partition regardless of the mount-data2sd file being flashed....
Yes, I also think so...
But where is a possibility to format the second ext4 Partition on SDCard???
There is no way in the first flash, modData2SD and nothing by flashing the CromiX.
I only can format SDCard, but this formats only the first Partition. I have a 16 GB Class 10 UHS 1 mSD Card, one Part is 10 GB second Part is ~4 GB. If I format the SD Card, only the 4 GB will be formated.
I think, this is the beginning of all my Problems here with cifs and so on.
I have seen, that the error "No such Device or Directory" doesnt mean the path to the PC, it means the path to the mountpoint. Under mnt/cifs is nothing Named like Music aand I cant create it there, its a read only file system...
So what can I do to become a really clean installation with nothing old in it?
Have I to flash first without Data2SD Support, than maybe instal a partition Manager for Android to format the ext4 Part on SD and than flash again but now with Data2SD???

I don't understand how your card is set up. Is the Ext4 partition 4GB? That isn't really big enough.
Also if you want wipe the 4GB ext4 then you must flash the mount-data2sd first in twrp.....

Yes, but the initial formatting must be done on a Linux system (or from the command line in Android with a proper mke2fs binary).
No no, missunderstanding...
10 GB is the ext4 Partition, 4 GB ist the rest from the total 16 GB IHS 1 Class 10 mSD Card.
And I did this as well, first flash the mount Data2SD.zip file, and I also wiped there, than I reboot, Power off and go again to twrp and flash the CromiX5 with Kernel how supports Data2SD an perform a full Wipe...
Allways there are still all apps on SDCard, I cant controll it, I dont have a Linux system here...
After the flashs I have only a updated Cromi, not a new system.
First boot runs and its like before.
Is there no way to format the 10 Gb ext4 Partition? Win7 x64 and Acronis could´nt read the ext4.
ooops, I did it again...
I have seen, that I can format the ext4 with paragon partitons manager suite 11 I have installed.
Is this a conform format for this job?

I cant see this.
Now I have the mSD Card in my Acer Laptop and Paragon part. Manager 11 Suite is running, but the Prog shows the whole 16 GB as 14,9 GB unformatted...
Confused again.
In my Tablet ist shows only 4 GB, the 10 GB I cant see.
Retest with Acronis Disc Director Suite 11 and it shows 4 GB Fat32 first part and 10 GB second Part as unformated.
A friend has done the partition and format Job for me, so how can I change this??
Can a take Paragon to create first Part ext4 10 GB and the rest 4 GB Fat32 for this job?
What a f....
Now the using of Data2SD is history.
From 7am to 1pm I have tried to format an correct the Partitionstype of my 16 GB Class 10 UHS 1 mSD Card but it was only wasting time.
I have tried these jobs with MiniTool Partitions Manager Home Edition and SD Formatter.
Here I found a german page with Infos to create a ext4 Partition:
http://www.handy-faq.de/forum/android_forum/219275-ext4_partition_erstellen.html
But the Card was useless in PC and Tablet.
Now I have a fresh Installation, without Data2SD, but all my Apps are gone and not recovered by Market Place.
So I have to flash again.
Have someone here a Link to an Howto to create ext4 10GB first Partition an the rest ~4 GB with Fat32?
I´m helpless and frustrated.
So please, give some help.

People in the Data2SD thread said that MiniTool doesn't work correctly and that you have to use a Linux-based partitioning and formatting utility, e.g. gparted.
And if you create your ext4 partition first, it won't be usable for Data2SD either. As the documentation of my Data2SD add-on says, the ext4 partition must be the second primary partition.
I'd suggest you attack one problem after the other - this thread was originally about some CIFS problems - are these fixed now?
No nothing is fixed an I have created this thread to fix the problems.
All goes hand in hand.
Without a clean installation of cromi nothing works, than all apps are still there with all the errors. If I cant instal properly correct than I have the same problems like bevor.
This all I have told ya, here in this thread.
Normaly the mount data2sd.zip has to format the ext4 partition while flashing and perform a wipe, but this was not happend. After flashing mount data2SD.zip, reboot and flashing than cromix5 with full wipe all former installed apps an accounts are still there, and so I have overtaken all old problems too.

[Q] ES File Explorer permission denied when copying to OTG flash drive

I've been getting this error whenever I try to copy anything onto a flash drive:

The flash drive is EXFAT formatted. Phone is rooted, running ElementalX with EXFAT support ticked and Stickmount Pro. Reading any file still works.
Any ideas as to what happened?

Anyone any ideas? I am having the same problem, exact same scenario using rooted stock on nexus 5. :crying:
My solution to NEXUS 5 can write to OTG USB pendrive
Ok, that's that I did, and it worked ( 4 or moure hours testing various things)
I used a Corsair Voyager GO 64 gb with NTFS filesystem.
My Nexus 5 is rooted.
I installed Chainfire "StickMount". So we can mount out USB pendrive to /sdcard/ubsStorage/sda1 No need to be PRO app.
I installed Paragon "paragon NTFS&HFS". Open it, and will ask to fix SELinux policies to Permisive. So Root Explorer can see now /Data/Media/ClockWorkmod/backup
I installed Jrummy Apps inc. "Root Explorer". I will copy, for example /Data/Media/ClockWorkmod/backup to /sdcard/ubsStorage/sda1 whithout any problems.
Don't forget to unmount USB drive before disconnecting it, go to StickMount and choose unmount
ES FILE EXPLORER WILL SAY "No space" "Error" or similar
Worked for me!
I'm happy with my investigation. I used Root Explorer in the past, and now it's useful again.
Sorry about my english, not perfect.
ENJOY!

[Q] Bloody hell, is there no way to copy back stuff to the SD Card?!

Why hallo there peeps!
I have rooted my Z3 and before that I copied everyting from the internal and SD card to my Macbook through Droid Nas and it worked flawlessy. The problem is to get it back... Is there no easy way to do it??? The infernal horror way of blocking writing to the SD card after Kitkat 4.4 is just pain in the ass :/
I have been searching and trying but havent found any easy way... Sofar the only way Ive found is to copy files to the internal and then copy it manually back to the SD card..
There has got to be a better way than this?

Have you tried just browsing a network share from File Commander and using that to copy directly to the SD card?
I haven't tried this yet myself, I just use USB to copy stuff as its faster but I think File Commander has better access to storage being the system file manager.
why not use a card reader for the sd card? the issue with kitkat was applications/data writing to the sd card unless the fix was applied, from what you are saying you are having issues copying from the computer to the sd card when its in the phone

Have you tried just browsing a network share from File Commander and using that to copy directly to the SD card?

Well I know that works but I want to get it working to copy directly to the phone the freedom and access ya know.
I tried last night with File Commander and it worked fine.
Set up a a share of the music folder on my HTPC.
I then used the Local Network function in File Commander with the following settings.
Domain: workgroup
Server: HTPC/Music/
User: (username)
Password: (password)
Server name is just the name of the network device and the name of the shared folder.
I was able to copy over folders of music from the HTPC to my phones SD card directly over wifi. It wasn't particularly fast though but both devices are on wifi.
File Commander could be a bit better at selecting multiple folders at a time though and whiles it's copying, you can't use the app for anything else.

http://repo.xposed.info/module/de.robv.android.xposed.installer I used version 2.6.1 on mines for T-Mobile Z3 and it works flawlessly give that one a shot.
Gutdamnit, I cant get no xposed to work. I tried the latest , 2.6.1 and it says:
"Xposed is not (yet) compatible with Android SDK version 21 or your processor arcittexture (armeabi-v7a).
CANNOT LINK EXECUTABLE: could not load library "libdvm.so" needed by "/data/data/de.robv.android.xposed.installer/cache/app_process"; caused by library "libdvm.so" not found"
What to do?

Download FolderMount. Run it, grant it root access, and then let it patch the system to allow full write access to external storage. After the phone reboots and you've verified it works, you can uninstall FolderMount.
Finally got it working, checked out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811 and installed the Alpha release and it worked
So know I got Xposed working and all the mods I want, finally!
Thanks for all the help peeps! :good:
