Bad idea. Most of the apps you close will reopen themselves causing lag spikes while gaming.
Make sure you don't have any app that autoupdates at different intervals, keep widgets to a minimum, have a Class 4 or 6 Micro SD card and make sure whatever keyboard you use isn't a resource hog. I can't play any games without massive lag when I have Swiftkey keyboard on my phone for instance.

how i can chek what is my MicroSD class ?
and what is resource hog ?
i use smart keyboard.

You can look on the SD Card and it should have the class # with a circle around it.
There's an app on the market that checks what is using the CPU, can't think of the name though, I used it to monitor what is using CPU, and when I slid the gamepad out and tapped buttons Swiftkey would jump between 1-5% CPU usage.

I use advanced task killer and this game works perfectly for me. In fact its the smoothest Gameloft game I've ever played. I have never had a slight freeze when playing this game.
This is on stock kernel.

i have microSD class 2, 16G.
its good ?

Launcher Comsumption

Well since I'm always looking for the lightest launcher (not that my phone is slow but I want a launcher just to play my 3d intensive games), I decided to post my findings about various Launchers here, I'll add more as I test them, this is using Task Manager when the Launcher is running as the main app (because if I launch GO for example and it isn't the default one, it will show the same RAM usage but 0% CPU usage), I measured at least five times each so I could get an average - that's using a Milestone 2 (Droid 2) non overclocked, rooted:
Home (Motorola): CPU 5%ish, RAM 20-25 MB
Go Launcher: CPU 10-12%, RAM 20-31 MB
Launcher 7: CPU 10-12%, RAM 22-25MB
Regina Launcher 3D: CPU 1-5%, RAM 15-25MB
Zeam: CPU 0%, RAM 9-12 MB
Zeam would always give me 0% CPU no matter what except when it was starting (drawing icons, app drawer and all) when it gave me 40%ish CPU and 50mb RAM.
LauncherPro would never appear on Task Manager so if anyone has a tip on which program to use to measure its RAM and CPU consumption I'd love a suggestion.
Since Dungeon Hunter 2 is the only game that constantly gives me slowdowns (other demanding games like Eternal Legacy, Reckless Racing and Spider Man Total Mayhem almost never show slowdowns, Hero of Sparta does but al reviews say it was badly coded compared to the iPhone version so I thought there was no point in using it to test Launchers), I used that game as a 'benchmark'.
I was only able to play it without it slowing down constantly when I performed certain actions (the animation of the trasure flipping when you open a chest) and having 90% smooth battles even using the fairy spells (which are full of effects) using Zeam. The game was almost unplayable using default Motorola Blur Home (although I tested Spider Man, which is the fastest action 3D game I have, and it worked flawlessly), and I'd say LauncherPro, even leaving all widgets (facebook, twitter, sms, calendar) on, delivered an experience almost as good as Zeam, same can be said for Regina Launcher although the Launcher itself slows down because it's all 3D and stuff. Performance under Launcher7 wasn't good.
I'm going to test ADW and the Gingerbread launchers now (have 4 of them, one by Steve Lin, one by someguy373 - sorry forgot the name, HELauncher and another one called Gingerbread Launcher like the 373 guy's one), but I'm hoping someone will come with better way to test hi-end game performance under several launchers (since in my case it's the only thing that seems to be affected by them, I charge my phone daily and since Droid2's battery sucks anyway I can't say I have noticed battery differences among them).
Awesome info Although I'm surprised at the moto home using up so little resources though
And to see Launcher Pro, If you're using Advanced Task manager go into Settings then change the security level to low so you can see all the Apps and processes running, Launcher Pro should be one of them

Oh thanks, I'll install advanced Task Man to see, there are other launchers I can't see as well such as the gingerbread ones.

Try GO, too. It appears to consume little overhead while offering the best features of adw ex and lpp (plus I like its task management widget).
I'm curious to find out what its footprint is in comparison to the others

You can try Home Manager for the RAM usage (about 28 -32MB on my phone - X8, stock 2.1). Still no clue to the CPU consumption tho.
Thanks
Thank you so much for this info, is very very helpfull.
Currently I'm using ADW Ex, but I will look for either Zeam of LauncherPro.
Zeam is a very good launcher, I hope to get more features in the next updates.
Thanks again.
This pretty much sums up why I use the Zeam Launcher over other feature-heavy launchers like LPP, GO or ADW. Of course, the results are more or less expected except for the MotoBlur. @[email protected]
If anyone can provide the info regarding the usage of the Touchwiz and Sense, I'll really appreciate it. I'm itching to go back to my home launcher again. XD
Have you tried HeLauncher?
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.handlerexploit.launcher_reloaded&feature=search_result
Seems like it might be light but im not sure...
With the built in launcherpro memory useage display the highest I see is 10.x MB, and for the most part it hovers around 9.5-9.8MB.
EDIT: I found launcherpro in Task Manager as android.process.acore. Task manager has it consuming about 28MB of memory and 0-1% CPU.

[Q] Is anyone getting operating lag?

The OS seems to be lagging. It could be the hardware or maybe its the infancy stages of Honeycomb, but not a single thing on the TF is smooth.
-Switching home screens lags
-Playing Angry Birds lags
-Window animations lag
[Q] Is anyone else getting these problems?
It kind of hinders the experience, and for industry leading specs, the performance is quite poor.
The only lag I've noticed so far is with the keyboard input on web pages.

I experienced this a few days after I got my tablet. It ended up being an app/widget I had installed off of the market called weather3d. As soon as I tracked the problem down and uninstalled the app, it was smooth again. Kind of scary how much a wonky/non honeycomb tested app can destroy the performance of your device.

Unfortunately, it was lagging out of the box. I was showing it off to my sister and she's like "what are you trying to show me, the sketchy transitions?"
Maybe its all the widgets? I have all the stock ones including calendar, youtube, android market, and browser widgets
Mine is laggy too especially during home screen transitions using the HC launcher. It is noticeable especially if you are coming from an iPad. I have read that 3.1 fixes these problems and transitions are silky smooth with no lag. I'm currently using Launcher Pro with 1 home screen since I don't use widgets and I like to keep all my apps on one screen. This seems to save on RAM and makes app switching smoother.

How much RAM is everyone getting. My tablet is reading out 185 mb being used and 380 mb free, so a total of 565 mb.
I know the tablet is supposed to have 1 gb of RAM.

I was getting lag with the default launcher, right now using VTL Launcher and its much better. I am getting lag with the browser (default) but with the debug tweak pages are loading much faster then before but theres times when it does lag. Was getting lag with the asus keyboard and just the android one and its much better.
Like any techsupport would ask:
what have u loaded on-the-job tablet? And don't say nothing because everyone loads at least one thing on a new tablet.
Have u tried to remove all installed apps (and Flash-bet u installed that)?
Have u rooted it yet?
Have u tried to root it yet?
Have u attempted/completed any firmware upgrades?
Are u using a dock?
Have u tried it without the dock?
Have u tried a hard reboot (hold power button for 12-15 secs?
i get panel transition lags when i set some live wallpapers
stock, no root, with latest firmware
If u want no lag and and want to use as many widgets with out system lagging do this
1 download ADW ex in market
2 go to adw setting and go to general behavior, animations and effects, transition effect and select *Curve ( I've tryed all pf them and some reason curve has the best fluid swiping)
4 make sure wallpaper scrolling is disabled
5 set desktop bounce to 15
6 set scrolling to 230
This is my way of a lag free life.
Also turn off alm the gestures there not needed
Ill do a video of before and after soon
You are correct...that really made my home screens fly!

-First thing out of the box: lag from scrolling. Then got flash, still lagging
-then got Angry Birds
-then got other android apps
-Not rooted, haven't tried
-just got notice of available firmware update today, will do after battery charges past 50
-No dock
-hard reboot did help a touch
I think I will try to restore it factory settings first, then runnig the firware upgrade, then getting flash. Will post results
Good News! I restored the tablet to factory settings and actually restored it from backup after that. Here is what I have noticed:
-The tablet is working much faster now, with no appreciable lag. Still some tiny amounts here and there but totally forgivable
-The preloaded music (4 songs) was gone. I think this means that before the ship the tablet they preload it with random software. So now its all gone, and whatever was causing the slow down before is gone now as well.
-I restored from back up so I have all my apps back as well as flash and it works perfect
-Also, the Asus keyboard no longer lags! Which is great because I like it better than the Android one. So if anyone wants to use the Asus keyboard without lag, just reset your tablet to factory settings.
Thanks for all the help everyone, I will still try Cowballz69 idea to speed it up even more

Dead Trigger - Self Closing

Hello,
Since I saw a few guys report that Dead Trigger is working perfectly for them I am a bit curious why it doesnt work perfectly for me.
Now when I start the game and set the graphics to High, I can play for a while then the game freezes and closes itself which leads me back in my launcher which loads everything again.
I suppose I run out of RAM but how those guys managed to get the game running?
Also many other games close themselfs and dont let me play them.
If device is halting and waiting for a little bit more RAM which causes freezing, why it behaves this way and closes the game?
try running the v6 optimization script here in xda it will help with the ram issue
Sent from my LG-P925 using xda app-developers app
Doesn't work.
Also can you recomend me option for the supercharger?
I use the 512 HP super unleaded with bulletproof launcher and I even tried dead trigger n played good I like it

I had the same problem. Lower the graphic details to medium or low.
you can also disable in game music, after you finish the mission which force closes then u can re-enable it,i had the same prob, every time the big zombie which spits green vomit appear on screen, even when i put the graphic on low,it still self closed, but when i disabled music,i coul finish the mission

Lag in simple games

Temple run 1 is unplayable on Honor 8 but it runs perfectly on Honor 7. Geometry Dash World stutters a bit, again runs perfect on Honor 7.
Strange. I guess the load from these apps is not kicking the cpu/gpu up to required clock speeds or the chipset is not optimized properly.

Could you try opening cpu-z and temple run in split screen and see what clock speed it's going to
EDIT - nevermind, split screen not working in temple run. When you open the game, then go back home, then go to multitasking, do you see temple run there? I don't, can only reopen it by clicking the homescreen icon (it doesn't reload but isn't showing in multitasking)

Same for me, that's very strange. It seems to still be in the memory though, but I can't actually access it through multitasking as you said.

Pie update memory leak? + pie experiences

Is anyone noticing any strange memory behavior since the pie update?
Today I saw my free memory under the recents screen drop to 400mb
Not sure if the update lets the P20 pro better utilize it's 6gb but I was not doing anything out of the ordinary
I'm running lawn chair launcher (latest play store version) and everything else is stock
Also I've noticed that Android now uses 1.9-2.5 gb ram
Looking forward to see what you all experience

i suggest you to install magisk and install swap torpedo module as well,
on our 6GB system, memory swap will only causing lag. especially if there is any app that havent fully optimised for android pie leaking memory, triggering the system to do paging
So, we should not take free memory into consideration

No, I previously tried manual, plus I just tried it again now. It makes sense that there's no difference as by opting for manual control but leaving the 3 options the same as before why would one expect different behaviour. I think the fact that this option is located in the battery option's page demonstrates that this is about limiting how apps are launched, so as to save battery. What I want is the opposite - keep an app in memory no matter what. The music player is playing music as a background task, so it's being treated like a browser you've not used for 4 hours. I want an app which is playing music in the background to be treated like an app where the UI is visible and never, ever, ever killed for any reason. There are no settings which allow you to do this. Furthermore, it's annoying that the phone is showing 777megs of ram free. Something is using the other 3.3 gigs of ram but on no screen can I find any figures which I can sum to get close to this value, so it's like the OS itself is using it as a cache. Fine, no point in not using ram, but it seems that with the launcher showing (ie no apps have the display) it has the full ram available for background tasks.
The only other thing I could try is to not use nova launcher. I'm not confident this would make any difference, and even if it did I don't like the idea that I have to choose between a decent UI or the ability to play music.

Thanks for the help (though it's sort of vague - change which .xml file how?). I guess I need root for that, which I've no interest in at the mo.
I've found what might be the setting I'm after, so I'll try for a while both with that setting and with the stock launcher. If I have no problems for a week or so I'll try with that setting and nova launcher. The setting is Settings/Apps/Apps/Special Access/Battery Optimisation/(select an app here - in my case Rocket Player)/Don't Allow.
