Earlier I was upgrading to gingerbread through kies mini. Something popped up on my phone and interrupted the process. Now whenever I try to upgrade my phone it says the firmware is up to date. My phone is still running 2.2.1. Any idea how to fix this? I already tried flashing to a stock rom again.

Tried it, still isn't working.
Called Samsung and after trying everything they wanted me to send in my phone. Since that would mean 2 weeks without my phone I just downloaded the firmware and updated through odin. Oh well least I got it now....quite nice. I'm a fan

So, I recently was having some strange issues with my Infuse that were fixed by doing a factory reset..
They came back this morning, so I decided to do another factory reset. Seemed to be working, but after connecting my Google account the phone rebooted itself and now I have no launcher.
I can't connect to Kies, and I can't follow market links to download a new one (web browser force closing).. What are my options here? I'm planning on returning the phone for a new one due to these weird issues (see my last thread), but I can't do that while the phone is rooted..
Any ideas?
EDIT: Trying to flash to stock with Odin, failing at modem.bin..

Try installing GTG's UCKE3 Rom and wipe the dalvik and data cache's... See if that works.
Were you on UCKE3? Did you use TIBU to reinstall some apps?

I upgraded to the leaked Gingerbread ROM, but wanted to downgrade due to the bugs. When I downgraded to ED1 in Odin, it worked, but I got the "baseband unknown" problem. I tried everything: using PST to flash ED1, ED2 and even EG2, but it wouldn't work. Here's the problem:
When flashing, everything runs OK in both Odin and PST until it's time to flash cp_modem.bin. At that point the phone displays the following:
Wait, VIA Booting ..
VIA rest done. ..
Downloading to VIA...
That's where it stops. Nothing happens at all. I even tried a system restore to before I installed the VIA drivers, tried it, installed the VIA drivers and tried it again...it didn't help.
Can anyone please help me?

Thanks, but I tried that exhaustively. It keeps hanging at the end where it tries to flash t modem. Did you have any trouble there?
No I had some issues getting pst going, but once it started, it went thru. Are you flashing with the battery in?
Did you remove the Sim card?

Yes, battery in and SIM card out. I put the battery back in after putting it in download mode because it will fail otherwise.
Any word? I seem to be having the same probelm.
Hey guys i had my phone rooted and with xRecovery and all of the good stuff and with like wolfpacks old Rom, I wanted to reformat my phone and make it clean again with at&t 2.1 firmware after i tried doing it on PC companion... it keep rebooting and rebooting and at first i though it was just installing the update, but now it is just rebooting when the logo pops up it restarts again need help! any ideas?

For me it is the same happening after flashing wolfs 2.3 rom, I am trying to reflash with 2.1rom with flash tool but USB debugging is unticked and rom keeps rebooting so what to do then? xrecovery says "Can't mount SD card"...

You must have installed some mod that made the phone crash when doing something... Which FW do you want to have?
The best I tried from 2.3.3 was from Wolf...
I tried "update service" but it says "you already have the latest software", on xrecovery i wiped dalvik catche ant etc. but it is still thesame, is there way how to fully wipe previuos rom in phone? now I am really confused, I am thinking to bring phone to some phone service company to fix it...

I don't know xrecovery. but there should be an FORMAT SYSTEM option.
it deletes\removes\kills\whatever the old rom and all its files. do that and try to reflash with the newest updater.
You must use xrecovery to install the ROM again or use superoneclick to flash it again. You cant fix without doing this.

Mine is also doing this. I just bought phone and it was still new in the box. I took to at n t and turned on and later in the day i went to update and it updated and has been doing this ever since. I got the links to here from a friend so i'm all new at this but very quick in learning. I have read in other posts that when it goes from 2.1 to 2.3 and you DONT delete user data it will do this..is this all that has happened to mine? I have the flash tool and files on desktop already. Ive also rooted and tried flashing the other day it kept coming up a security and bunch a greek to me...im sure all the answers are here but to a new guy this stuff is little confusing..after reading more today i asume im missing the recovery tool and the bootloader needs unlocked is this whats stopping the flashing? now after geting busy box and while it was installing it looped and now its just constant looping...im tryiny to read all this but you guys but all the ifs, ands. buts in here its too damn confusing...guess im off to amatuer flashing local i dont know what else to do...

I think that the Kernel isn't compatible anymore!
Reflash the original Kernel and the old ROM of your Xperia with flashtool!
It's a very simple and awesome tool for our beloved Xperia!

I tried to flash cm10 rom and it never would get past starting apps. I used the new recovery that I beleive beans had reated to install cm9. Then when I tried to reboot i got the verizon non authorized software message. I went back and odin back to root66 and could not get network connection. i have tried factory reset and doing over and over again with now luck. does anyone know why its not letting me on network

where did you get cm10 for the vzw phone? I thought it was for all of the other phones but vzw? Try going back to stock non root. try flashing the modems in the thread about this one.

if you go to goo app its in his folders of roms i beleive. i have tried that. i switched to my wifes sim card and got same results, so must be something on the phone

Flash the stock tar.md5 from here: http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=scH-i535
Whatever you flashed put a custom kernel on there, and that's why you get that message.

I have d2hackers cm10 up and running on my device...click link in sig!
i have tried new modem and fully stock rom. no luck. I was running dual boot before that if that could of caused issue. I am lost now.

I have tried to odin stock and then wipe. still showing no data connection, and same thing when I put my wifes sim in. IM thinkiing it has something to do with the dual boot i had set up before. is there a way to repartion the internal sd card or emmc?
This seems to be happening to a lot of people flashing AOSP ROMs....this is why they warn you they are not responsible for what happens to your phone...especially with Betas.
There are many threads on this and several on how to get a workaround until someone figures out how to fix this.
Try doing a search on losing IMEI or roaming after flashing CM10...it is happening a lot...that is why I am just using rooted stock with VZW apps and TW frozen.
this problem I was having with no data or radio in CM10.
I used ODIN to go back to stock rooted (root 66).
When I did that I was boot looping in the puking rainbows 4GLTE boot animation.
I eventually figured out how to fix that by booting into recovery (press volume up, home button, and power button at the same time till phone boots). I then did a wipe data/factory reset.
My phone then booted fine into stock root.
I then proceeded to punch in *2767*3855# into my dialer immediately when I got stock root working. That did some sort of a factory reset / format. It all happened so quick I could barely read what it told me. The phone rebooted after a while.
I then downloaded EZ-Recovery for VZW Galaxy S3 app from the Play store.
I installed the custom recovery from Dhacker's CM10 post over on the droidhive forums using EZ recovery.
I also downloaded the CM10 file to flash and the Jelly Bean Google Apps file.
Rebooted into recovery, Wiped data/cache/dalvik.
Installed the CM10 file.
Installed the Jelly Bean apps.
Reboot.
Profit.
I now have a largely functional CM10 (as far as I can tell there are some camera issues). Data 3G/4G is working, so are calls and text and everything is dandy.

I have had nothing but issues with this phone upgrading. Every time it bricks, the first time I got it working by reformatting DATA partition. The other times basically gave up and 2-3 days later I come back and it magically starts working again. The day that 5.0.1 came out I downloaded the FUU, well everything looked good the it gets stuck at the Android is upgrading starting apps. Since then I have redownloaded all 5.0.1 files I could find on XDA, and the same results. I tried different roms, using TWRP to wipe and rewipe and format and do it again and again. I have tried to downgrade to 4.4.2 and 4.4.4 but i get the process system isn't responding when it boots up. I am unsure what to do now, anything will help.

After flashing that do a factory reset from hboot. That should get you back to a healthy stock system

Yes, that was the first thing I tried, but I just downloaded it again twice and did factory reset both times and I still get stuck on the "Android is upgrading... Starting apps."

So after it upgrades all apps its just sits on starting apps?
Can't hurt to run RUU again. Perhaps even4.4.4 then take the OTA for 5.0.1

Yes It gets stuck there everytime. Seems like no matter what I do for 5.0.1. When I tried to downgrade ( I did both 4.4.2 and 4.4.4) it gets the process system isn't responding error.

that's very strange. What method are you going about with the RUU?
using adb?
perhaps maybe try going through hboot with the sdcard?
not sure it will make any difference what-so-ever, just brainstorming.

Yes, it is very strange. OK so I have done nothing with adb for the upgrade. I have tried the FUU.exe, and the RUU through fastboot, fastboot flash all files separately, and put on an external drive that is fat32 to use HBOOT method. and I just downloaded the firmware and did the HBOOT again twice, doing a factory reset after each one. But in bootloader screen all firmware numbers match up and I never get any errors, just gets stuck on starting apps.

Yes I am S-OFF since the day I got the phone. And I have been using RKND roms, but I downloaded and tried all the 5.0.1 roms to see if anything would help. At this point I just want my phone working again, but preferably with the ability to change roms when i want to which is about once a month or two.
So I had tried everything I knew how to do again with no luck. Then I just let my phone sit for the last week. Then I decided to turn it on last night and it works fine. Is there any reason why I had to let the phone stay powered down for days for it to start working? This is the second time I had to do that when upgrading the firmware.
Thanks for bringing this up and I'm glad to hear it worked out for you even tho it took some time. My bro just ran the vzw update while on viper 4.1.0 and now he says his screen is unresponsive. He said it ran through all the normal start up procedures but the welcome screen is shaded (like it's in the background) and he says it won't respond to any touches whatsoever. I won't get a chance to see it until I return to work on Wednesday but if it does the same as yours maybe it'll fix itself by then. :fingers-crossed:
Edit: I just realized that you ran the FUU. He went and said yes to the stupid OTA! Hopefully I'll be able to do something with it when I get back but I'm thinking that running the OTA while rooted and S-Off'd might've screwed it up.
Update: I'm a moron! :silly: It didn't do anything to his phone. I just had to reinstall the recovery and viper 4.3.0 and it's working fine again. I think actually it might've been a good thing he did cause now the phone had the right firmware on it for LP so it all worked out. Sorry for cluttering up your thread.
