So my wife has the NS4G and it has had intermittent problems with network connections since the day she purchased it. Full signal on both wifi and 3g...unable to connect to network. I imagine you're familiar with this problem.
If she swaps for another NS4G will the issue alleviate itself? Is there a rom out there that fixes this...currently running oICS. Any help or advice in getting a different phone from Sprint? It has been 6 months with this phone. They actually offered her a HTC Hero today...that's what got me enraged enough to get involved.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
Try latest radio in 4g dev section (kL2). I've had excellent results with this radio.

A friend of mine has having trouble connecting to 3g at all for the last week or so. She's running CM 4.2.15.1, hasn't had any network issues prior to this. Tmo hasn't been a whole lot of help, and I figured once they realize its rooted, they'll probably even less so.
So, what is the current radio version? Later than 2.22.19.26I? Where could I find it?
I'm running 2.22 on my MyTouch 3G Limited Edition. I used to have a Mytouch 3G 1.0... I actually don't have it any more because I bricked it by doing what you're asking to do. I also tried to find the radio for the same reason, except it turned out it was t-mobile's fault not my phone (as I experienced the same problems on my fender, til they caught it).
I am also having this issue! It started a few days ago for me. I cannot hold a 3G connection, but 2G and G seem to work. I've since tried numerous ROMs, wipes, and formats including my SD card yet nothing seems to help.
Any thoughts?
I've had this problem before. For me, it's been accompanied by erratic behavior of SMSing, too. Once it was even an outright inability to connect to the cell network at all.
If that's the case and you call up T-Mo and complain, often they'll give you a credit for a new SIM card, and you can pick it up at a store.
Interesting... So you believe it to be the SIM card and not anything firmware/software/network related? Any idea what could have caused something like this?
I know that the radio was a problem on the NS4g last summer (my friend got one, then returned it for an evo because she couldn't get a data connection) and I thought it had been taken care of by now. My wife's phone was stolen last night and I found a NS4g for 120 (only used for 2 days!) on craigslist so I went for it. Anyway, I tried connecting to 4g and it is sporadic. I placed my e3d next to it and they both showed 1 bar, but my e3d achieved 3.5 Mbs and her ns4g got 800 kbs.
So my question is: does 4g still suck? If so, can I mitigate that with a different rom (I am completely stock at the moment). Please help me out since we both use 4g pretty regularly.
Soooo, I guess by the large amount of views and lack of responses, that I have stumbled across one of those questions that I am not supposed to ask. Perhaps this is one that has been asked ad nauseum and is thus being ignored??? I do apologize if that is the case, but I can't seem to find the right search terms to bring up a discussion of if the radios were ever fixed and if there are any ROMs which mitigate the weak signal. If someone can point me in the right direction, I would be appreciated, if not, I will let this thread die.
Well I am sorry as I am on T mobile with an I9020T ...... Not sure about Sprint network .
But from the numbers you mentioned , 3.5 megabits per sec isn't that high !! even on 3G I get sometimes a higher speeds ... I think I didn't miss much going with a 3G device not with a 4G one !!
BTW , what android version and radio you're on currently ? did this NS4G got any OTA as you start using it ? did you ask Sprint about the issue ?
Goodluck

On the sprint network 3g is like 1x. LOL I usually get somewhere around 300k on 3g (thus the importance of 4g). To be fair, I only had one bar on 4g (I usually get around 7-8 M on wimax). Anyway, I made sure to manually request all the updates through the menu and I am all up to date. Android version is 2.37 I believe, but am unsure since the wife has the phone and is away at the moment. radio? not sure. I haven't asked sprint about it yet. I just wanted to check here to see.
Hey all! So...after struggling with this problem for a couple weeks, I've finally decided to get some help. I have an HTC Thunderbolt, currently running MIUI-Vicious-ICS-4.0, with 2.6.35.14-imoseyon-5.1.0AOSP+ Kernel. Also, the baseband is 1.48.00.0906w_1,0.01.78.0906w_2.
The problem is that I don't get 3G at all, and often I loose data completely. Very rarely do I have even 3 bars of 1x. WiFi still functions though. I've had this problem on many ROMs (CM7, MIUI, DasBAMF) so I know it isn't the ROM. I'm paying for data every month so it sucks not being able to use it
If you need any more details, feel free to ask. ANY help on this would be VERY appreciated!
Thanks!
So I recently got an Inspire, coming from a Vibrant. I have T-mobile service. On the Vibrant, in the same location, I had superb cell signal. On this Infuse, it's more than terrible.
I know it's designed to be an ATT phone, and the internal hardware won't pick up certain T-Mobile bands, but I have also had a couple other unlocked phones that got better signal than this.
I can literally set the Vibrant down on the table with 3-4 bars of service, and the Infuse next to it with Emergency Only or an X (no signal). In other random spots I can get a couple bars, but very spotty. Sometimes I'll have a couple of bars, and literally not move an inch and lose signal. That's frustrating!
I know I can't get 3g-4g speeds. Not an issue with me, I use wireless, but I do want to figure out how to make and receive phone calls.
I unlocked using Ace, and let it run for a few days before making any other changes. Today I flashed Android Revolution HD 6.3.3, and then flashed the recommended radio about an hour later. (used the fastboot method described in the radio's readme, the RIL was included in the Rom)
So my signal is slightly better, but only barely. Still very unreliable.
I guess my hope is, to gain some insight as to how the radio even works, so I can start to learn the differences in them, and find one that works better.
Is there any hope that I will find one that is suitable?
Can anyone recommend radios/a solution?
I also wonder, since the Desire has compatible radios, and they are used in Europe, if they may pick up T-Mobile USA signals better.
Thanks for reading, and thanks in advance for your help and advice!
P.S. I know its been discussed before, however, I've read hours and hours worth of posts, and in the end I decided asking was definitely worth it. Ya'll are smart!
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA
Radios react differently for everyone cause they are actually based on regions as to where your at. But there are positive responses on the .03 , .28 and .30 radios. Give them a shot and try them out each for about a few days and see how they work for you. Development section has a radio thread you can get them from.
Just remember flash radios at your own risk, they are a little riskier than flashing roms. Good luck
Hello!
Is it possible to buy the following items and use them as a mobile hotspot boosting device?

I am grandfathered on verizon's unlimited data still and I am constantly traveling around California. Specifically my room and other remote areas I visit for work I can pull down decent 3g and sometimes 1 bar of LTE.
((( I purchased this item almost a year ago and used the SIM card in my phone to gain 4G signal then I connected to the network via WiFi. Everything worked fine but it was bothersome to continuously switch out my SIM card between devices so frequently whenever I couldn't take the hotspot with me. Seeing as the present situation I am involved with needs the older setup I had before; convenience is welcome.

So here I am trying to build a badass device and mount/carry in my bag while on the go.
Will the first parts I have listed above work? I am worried the boost in signal might not warrant the setup I have planned. Then again if it works as intended it could be extremely useful. Any incite is appreciated!
Furthermore, I have a software related question that could be an alternative solution to my problem.
-The ROM I am currently running is Gummy-M3.0-07-21-14-NIGHTLY-d2lte
-The Baseband version is I535VRUCML1.
Is there anyway having this firmware version is interfering with my reception?
The Gummy ROM is currently on Android 4.4.4. Is there a newer firmware I can flash to update the baseband to receive better signal?
Again thank you for reading and I hope to hear any advice or past experience that could potentially help me out!
XDA Assist isn't for answers, per-se, but rather to point you in the right direction to get the answers and discussion from the knowledgeable XDA members for your situation.
Since your question isn't necessarily about a particular device, I recommend asking your question in the Accessories forum.
