[Guide] Solved Problem - Error flashing RUU + Guide - HTC Sensation

Hey Guys,
My Problem:
got a little Problem with the TMO Europe RUU.
I have to go back to Stock due to a warrenty issue. Thus I wanted to do this with the above mentioned RUU.
I first was on ICS with new 3.25 firmware. So i went back to old 3.12 FW and the 1.17 HBOOT. After that I installed the ARHD 4.x.x
When I now try to update it says update from 2.0.8,... to 1.45
but when it about to Start there is this 155~159 Error which says that it is not the right RUU
My Sensation was shipped with TMO Branding thats the reason why i tried it with this RUU
I also tried some other setting like:
super cid' ed again
3.24 firmware
different RUU
...
Can someone help me please
Solution that worked for me:
You have to be sure that you took the right RUU otherwise it's no good
Do this on your own risk ! For me it worked without any problems
start the ruu an continue till the step where it says update from X.X.xXX to your y.y.yyy
change the view of your Windows folders the way that you can see the hidden files
go to c:\User\YOURNAME\appdata\local\temp
there search in one of the last edited folders (which has to be name cryptic like :{18abb736-d55c-4fa4-a3e5-7c78512fa924} for Rom.zip
copy it to somewhere you'll find again
name it to PG58IMG.zip
put it on your sdcard
restart into bootloader and it will update to your chosen ruu

Almost exactly what I did at the time, only difference is I renamed it to PG58IMG, and not PG68IMG.

BTW ..awesome app drawers ..it would have been great if you do it for SENSATION too

I had the same issue with mine and I had to extract the rom.zip file from the TMOUS RU program and rename it to PG58IMG.zip and flash it through HBoot and everything came up OK.
If you look at the original thread, this method is to be used if you can't get CID to work.
The are two TMOUS RU files, I extracted the rom.zip file from the second one for my phone and it flashed the rom and everything came up perfectly. Once the phone booted up into the ROM.
I did the OTA update from HTC and is was back to the original stock ROM.

I will attempt this when i go home for lunch.. thanks for the help!
btw do you by chance still have the rom.zip... i searched regarding getting the rom.zip while RUU is unpacking and finding it in the temp folder...
but i am worried that my RUU program will not start because of the error (RUU crashing)... thoughts?
update: i found the rom.zip.. thanks!
The RUU download from the shipped ROM thread gives and error every time.
So what I did was to look it up on Google and got the correct RUU which is about 300+mb. RUU flashed correctly and then I S-ON with fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
The pain was to get the correct RUU without giving me errors.
Edit: I downloaded 1.29 RUU then updated to 1.45 then S-ON.

[RESOLVED] ics firmware did update hboot, didn't flashed radio

Hey guys,
any ideas on this.
I used the PG58IMG.zip with the new firmware update for only the hboot and radio. The hboot was flashed, i'm now on "locked" 1.20.... but the radio "11.." wasn't flashed. Now i'm having issues with some dialer stuff and net connectivities. So my guess is i need to flash the new radio file.
The thing is i can't flash the radio anymore. fastboot won't work on this new hboot, and i can't use the PG58IMG files anymore.
When trying to use a PG58IMG file, i'm getting the cid error.
RESOLVED:
fastboot cid commands still work on hboot 1.20, just get your phone into hboot, and try supercid, this worked for me.

if i try any fastboot command, it's only waiting for device, that's it.
there is a thread somewhere on here with a tut on how to get back to hboot old unlocked hboot so you can flash new radio then flash new hboot
here it is my friend http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20681060&postcount=22
Is your phone on charge mode and USB debug ? You might want to try switching between charge mode and USB disk

i'm switching between all options, but it is known that hboot 1.20... doesn't support fastboot yet, so that's something else.
for now i'm back to gingerbread, but i really liked ics, let's hope somebody will find a way to use fastboot on 1.20...
give it a try put downloaded zip on root of sd card go into bootloader and phone should see file and flash.
this is just what i have read on the ICS firmware thread.

yeah it sees the update, it's trying to auto install, can't choose yes or no, it's just scanning for the PG files and when it's trying to install the zip file it stops with a incorrect cid error.
install complete ruu (released by rc team), that'll install everything including radio, after that install any custom ICS rom you like, i found this method safest.
be sure to super cid your phone.

Here's some advice. I was having the same problem you were. What I realized was that I was unable to check my cid or use fastboot options because I was running a ics Rom which breaks fastboot. I'm tmous and my cid wasn't in firmware by default. So after trying to flash the update I ended up with the updated hboot 1.20 that said locked (supposedly just says locked but really isnt) I kept reading every page of the firmware thread and I found someone who added the tmous cid to the firmware update and posted a drop box link which worked like a charm. I reflashed that one and now I have new radio and firmware and my phone is much smoother. Hopefully this works for you as it sounds like exactly what I went thru. Going to go find you the link now

[Fix] bootloops fix and 3.32 update

ok i got litle bit from all over no clue who posted it dont care just telling you how i fix my phone
i tried to get 3.24-3.32 firmware on it and wouldnt go ketp boot looping
or any problems your having installing O.T.A update
i was asked why host files on 3rd party cuz i got sick of none working ones i know the ones i got posted work
Firstly - you HAVE to be running 1.50.401.1 to use this OTA file. and 1.17 firmware If you're on ANY other build it wont work
firmware can be found here for 1.17
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
You also have to be 100% stock (e.g. NOT rooted). If you are running a custom ROM you HAVE to use the http://www.4shared.com/file/risaQet4/RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1454012.htm RUU to get back to stock but you HAVE to leave the phone S-OFF. THIS RUU IS NOT FOR XE
Xe is here if you can get link to work i am not hosting this file http://www.filefactory.com/file/c0a...00U_10.15.9035.02_2_release_214840_signed.exe
I made my CID HTC__001 but some are better with 11111111http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300 "step 4" i used HTC__001
1. You're now running stock gb 2.3.3 with Sense 3.0
2. download the 3.32.401.5 OTA file from HTC http://www.4shared.com/zip/SKaYUBFP/OTA_Euro_3324015.html . You do NOT have to rename the file
3. Put let this.download
4. turn phone on load it all the way UPDATE IT WITH O.T.A 2X FIRST IS NOTHING SECOND IS 1.50 AND WILL LET YOU UPDATE TO 3.32
5. find file from step from 2
6. Copy the file to the root of your SD card
7. Turn your phone off and turn it back on whilst holding the volume down button.
8. Select 'Recovery' from the menu to enter the stock Recovery. If CWM loads up, stop now and flash the RUU again
9. When you get to the screen with the red ! on it, hold volume up and press power. It will say 'cant open cache/recovery/command' and then bring up the recovery menu
Select the option to apply an update from your SD card and then select the OTA file
7. Wait the 10 minutes or so for it to flash
8. When prompted, reboot the phone

Thank you, this cured my boot loop.
I just posted this over on the ARHD thread. Do you think that this maybe my case? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
About a week ago I SuperCID my phone. I then went to load a ICS ROM. I have not been able to get my phone to do anything but startup into HBOOT and/or Recovery. I either was getting stuck in a boot loop or would get the "HTC Quietly Brilliant" screen. I spent the whole weekend on the forums and still no luck. I was hoping someone could see something that I maybe doing wrong. The one issue that I know is wrong is the Radio version needed for ARHD is 11.69.3504.00U_11.22.3504.07_M. I tried to use a program called Android Flasher to load the correct radio but I don't think that that occurred. Below is all the information that I can gather.
TMOUSA Sensation 4G
On HBOOT Screen:
Revolutionary
Pyramid PVT SHIP S-Off RL
HBOOT - 1.27.1100
Radio - 11.22.3504.07_M
OpenADSP - V02.6.0.2226.00.0131
eMMC - Boot
Jan 13, 2012 17:33:34
Other specifics:
ARHD 6.51.1.zip ROM
ARHD SuperWipe.zip
4EXT v1.0.0.4 RC1 installed and working properly
PG58IMG is 3.32 for TMOUSA
CID and MID
CID 11111111
MID PG5810000
Any help would be greatly appreciated. If needed, I can upload a copy of the logcat while the phone boots up. Thanks in advance.
best best flash firmware 1,17 and then restart
then runn the ruu file
turn phone on fastboot make sure no img files in sd card ruu will see phone and bring you to step 1 in my post
fastboot is 1 step past were firmware installs make sure you have no img on sd card
its the firmware some of our phone just dont want to take it from 2.24-3.32 not sure why if your not getting in rom you can try backing up sd card formate it putting rom on it only rewipe and flash with nothing on it "king said dirty sd card" and try if not follow my steps
I will definitely try this tomorrow. Your instructions will work with TMOUSA correct?
carrier dont matter when you play with cid
but yeah tmob will work

i was asked why host files on 3rd party cuz i got sick of none working ones i know the ones i got posted work
Firstly - you HAVE to be running 1.50.401.1 to use this OTA file. and 1.17 firmware If you're on ANY other build it wont work
firmware can be found here for 1.17
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
You also have to be 100% stock (e.g. NOT rooted). If you are running a custom ROM you HAVE to use the http://www.4shared.com/file/risaQet4/RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1454012.htm RUU to get back to stock but you HAVE to leave the phone S-OFF.
I made my CID HTC__001 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300 "step 4" i used HTC__001
1. You're now running stock gb 2.3.3 with Sense 3.0
2. download the 3.32.401.5 OTA file from HTC http://www.4shared.com/zip/SKaYUBFP/OTA_Euro_3324015.html . You do NOT have to rename the file
3. Select the option to apply an update from your SD card and then select the OTA file
4. turn phone on load it all the way UPDATE IT WITH O.T.A 2X FIRST IS NOTHING SECOND IS 1.50 AND WILL LET YOU UPDATE TO 3.32
5. find file from step from 2
7. Wait the 10 minutes or so for it to flash
8. When prompted, reboot the phone

Yeah ruu will run in fastboot make sure you have no IMG files

Here's where I'm at now. I cannot update to 1.50 because HTC complains of a "Variant System Version" when I try to do the 1.50 OTA. I simply cannot figure out any way around this. My recovery is stock, CID is HTC__001 as you mentioned, and I can't move forward because I can't get this 1.50 installed.

Ran the RUU, let the phone boot up, checked for updates, update fails with the error I mentioned above.
I do not have the XE, just the regular Virgin Sensation. I had Virtuous 3.0.0 on there before but was trying to upgrade to 4.0.0 and got the boot loop after upgrading the firmware.
Would it not be easier just to RUU straight to 1.50?
So I decided to run an old'ish ICS Pyramid RUU I had lying around that I *knew* worked previously, RUU_PYRAMID_LE_ICS_35_S_HTC_Europe_3.06.401.101_Radio_11.59.3504.00U_11.16.3504.16_M_test_231336.
Then I flashed recovery, latest 3.32 firmware, did superwipe & virtuous 4.0.0. Everything works perfect!
Well if you don't have a xe the ruu should not have worked hmmmm yeah you can run Thu to 150 but all the ones I downloaded didn't work with bootloops

[Q] Stock RUU Htc Sensation EU No Brand

Hello,
i have a problem , i need to find the original RUU for my Sensation because it has the "Dust Problem" and i want to send it back to HTC.
When i bought it the Android version was 2.3.4 and Sense version was 3.0.
Anyone knows which RUU i have to download to restore my Sensation ? I know 1.50 it's ICS, but i need Android 2.3.4.
Anyway, do i need to reflash PG58IMG for Android 2.3.4? Actually i'm using Android Revolution HD with ICS.
And what about radio.img? do i need to flash an older radio version?
Thank you
Nobody can help me ?

Your welcome! Just hit the thanks button.
I'm not sure but i think that the link i posted is Android 2.3.3. I believe that the RUU 1.50.... Is 2.3.4 and the RUU 1.45.... Is 2.3.3. Please anyone, correct me when i'm wrong.

I found something in another forum and yes, RUU 1.45 should be the 2.3.3 one.
But before launching the update utility do i need to flash the correct PG58IMG for RUU 1.45?
Downgrade from 3.32 to 1.45 isn't working, and if i try to do it with the phone On on fastboot the utility crashes.
My phone is still untouched and working 100% with ARHD 6.63. Nothing bricked it, phew

EDIT: 1.45 is Android 2.3.4... i made a mistake..
I still need to find the 2.3.3 one . Any idea?
If you run the RUU it will flash everything, firmware, radio, rom etc. So you don't need to flash PG58IMG first. I guess for 2.3.3 you will need the 1.35 RUU then. You can find it in the schipped rom collection, sorry i don't have it

Thank you all for your help, i solved my problem
I post how i've done it, maybe it'll help someone.
The problem was that i had android 4.0.3 and when i was going to launch the RUU the utility was crashing, so i tried to switch the phone to fastboot usb and re-launch the ruu, but it was crashing again.
So i downloaded the pg58img for RUU 1.45, an older radio version, found on the android revolution HD official site and a deoxeded ROM based on 1.45 RUU.
1. I modified my phone with SuperCID 11111111 (before it was ITA No Brand so HTC__405).
2. I flashed the radio, then the PG58IMG and then.
3. I wiped all via recovery (boot, cache, dalvik, data, system) and installed the 1.45 based rom.
4. I've unchecked the "fastboot" option and activated the "debug usb" option.
5. Connected Phone to PC (charge only) and launched the Rom Update Utility.
6. The program detected my phone correctly and installed the ROM correctly.
7. I rebooted my phone into fastboot and re-setted the SuperCid to the original one (HTC__405).
8. I've returned to S-ON locking the bootloader via adb "fastboot oem writesecureflag 3".
Done
Now the phone is ***LOCKED*** with S-ON and with RUU 1.45 installed. (I unlocked it months ago with revolutionary).
Thanks all for your help

[Q] How to revert to stock ROM?

there are lots of threads out there about this, but they are very complicated, i have my HTC Sensation S-Off rooted with a custom sensation XE ROM and i have TouchRecovery instead of CWM, what is the simplest way for me to restore back to a stock ROM, i had a Nand backup, but it got corrupted on my old SD-Card. Thanks in advance.
Use a RUU.exe file- tiny bit of Googling will find you them (basically I'm too tired)
Make sure you superCID first of all so you can use any of them.

If you want to be back to stock then download the RUU for your carrier. You will not have to be Super CID if it is the one for your carrier. As for it not seeing your device, do you have the USB drivers installed on your computer? If you have HTC Sync installed you should have the drivers. Also do you know for sure your USB cable is functional. If you can transfer data to and from your computer in Disk Drive mode then it is fictional.
i cannot find an o2 UK ruu, the cable is fully functional, i have the drivers, but i will reinstall htc sync because i dont think it was on this laptop. The phone was originally locked to 3 UK, then i flashed a pg58 file and got it removed.
after installing the drivers, i open up the exe, it says i have the wrong RUU, would this be because i have a custom XE ROM on a original sensation? and can someone link me to a working ruu please

It is telling you that because your device does not match either the Model ID check or either it does not match the CID check. You need to post your carrier and what region you are in as well as connect your device to your computer and use the "adb getvar" command to get all the info on your device and post it back here. This will help others to post a link to the correct stock RUU for your device.
Im on o2 UK, and the device was originally locked to 3 UK, usage of the adb getvar returns a paragraph of adb commands

My bad, the command is "fastboot getvar" not "adb getvar", sorry about that. Also go to the link that is posted above me, it should help you out.
i have super CID, i am still struggling to find the RUU for o2 UK, if anyone can give me a filefactory link, that would be great thanks.
Go to the link that was posted to the RUU guide thread. It has all the links you need to download yourstock ROM.

If you are using a ICS ROM then you probably will not find the correct RUU for you device because there have not really been any of the ICS RUUs released or leaked. As long as you are S-off you can use the Gingerbread RUU for your device and then OTA to the ICS ROM after running the RUU.
my HTC is S-Off, may you provide me with a link to the gingerbread RUU please?
EDIT: Would the current ROM affect the RUU i am trying to install, since it is a sensation XE rom on a sensation
