I have been searching the internet for a tutorial on how to successfully root my Alcatel OT-990 and I cannot find a decent tutorial that I can follow start to finish. I have tried several of the methods but none of them seem to work. I am new to this whole rooting process but I am very keen to get it lol.
I am running windows xp if that makes any difference as I can see a lot of the tutorials are for linux which are no use to me.
Hopefully I can get this device rooted. Cheers
Anyone have any idea?

I have always wanted to work with my previous devices, but was always confused on the multiple methods on gaining root access. Can anyone please give me some sort of step by step guide or link to one pleace? Thnx
I used the All-In-One tool kit to unlock the bootloader, then used the one-click root method to root the device. It's pretty easy to do.
My best advice is to do what I and a lot have done. Read Read Read!!!
Study the different methods and Google any terminolgy, watch videos. I spent several weeks before I even bought my N1 over two years, which I intended to root right off. So, when I rooted, I needed no assistance until I started having to get more familiar with adb/fastboot commands. Highly recommend to install Android SDK if you haven't and learn it also. Much easier to get out of trouble, which we all get into, being able to use fastboot/adb.
I don't know your expertise level on these things, but if it low and just getting step by steps without understanding why will lead to many problems and make it very hard to get out of them.
That said i used this guide, but did know how to use fastboot etc:

There lots of web info on using sdk with fastboot/adb commands
Just make sure you have usb debugging checked on phone and fastboot unchecked
This worked best for me.

Everything you wanna know about Equiso you can find here: http://www.equisoforum.com/
i tried the root method it doesnt work root checker says that device doesnt have root an instructions hard to comprehend can someone make easier instructions on here instead of equiso forums
Bought a couple of these and decided to attempt putting, at least, 4.4 on these and I've found no way yet. Anyone playing with these? I'd like to see these run Kodi, at the least.
Wife got a pair of these really cheap for my kids and the specs are ok but with all the custom kids software them seem to be really slow. Before sending them back I was going to try rooting one and cleaning it all off and see if that helped performance enough to make me want to keep them. Can't find a thing about doing so anywhere though. Not sure if I need to be searching something other than Contixo or what. They are running 4.4 and if I could get get root and Titanium working I'd be good. Doubt I'd go to the trouble of a new rom.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thx,
PS
Hello,
I'm not finding anything about your device on XDA.
There are a multitude of rooting apps and rooting software for PC that can be used on a multitude of devices, you can try cydia impactor on windows PC, kingroot, kingoroot, towelroot, Framaroot, if its an MTK device you can use MTK droid tools on PC
The best thing would be to do a Google search for "universal rooting apps for android" or a search for "universal android rooting software for PC', try all the universal options you can find.
You can try posting your question in the forum linked below but unless someone there happens to have your device and has rooted theirs then you'll probably get almost the same suggestions I gave you.

The experts there may be able to help.
I didn't really find any tutorials of rooting the i8552b while searching for it, so can anyone help me?
After trying all of the one-click root apps, I came to a conclusion: I can only do it using Odin, but I don't know how to use it. I tried a tutorial, but it didn't work at all (bc i'm dumb). I may try it again later, but if someone more experienced could help me, including with download links (if possible), I would be extremely grateful.
Thanks,

This might be not for newbies but you'll get it eventually.
Find a stock ROM, then just dig around in the files and place the rooting files and superuser.apk. Then just zip it, flash it, try it. Fail? Try again.
