Support Procedures
Devices can be updated with the new software only through tethered side loading. Tethering should be performed on a desktop/laptop computer running on Microsoft (Windows 7, Vista, or XP). The software download is not available using an Apple computer or over-the-air.
Instruct customers to use a home/office PC to visit www.samsung.com/us/infuseupgrade/gb1 to download the software required to complete this update.
To verify the device software version and to determine if installation of the update is required, go to;
Home>Menu>Settings>About Phone and verify the current Baseband Version.
If the Software Number is I997UCKL2 and the Android Version is 2.3.6 then the device is up to date.
If the device shows any other Software Number, then installation of the 305 MB update is recommended.

We've known that Cupcake has been floating around in dev circles for months now, but it's been clear as mud how the Open Handset Alliance plans to incorporate all of the lovely features it brings into Android's trunk, how Android will be versioned going forward, and in general, how the group plans to present a unified front to developers, manufacturers, and end users. That all gets a little clearer today with the official unveiling of Android 1.5 that fully incorporates the Cupcake branch, and -- perhaps much more importantly -- a home screen framework for developing widgets and populating live folders with whatever content you can dream up. There's no word on exactly how 1.5 will come to existing Android handsets in the field, but as far as we can tell, there's nothing listed in the changelog that would prevent current hardware from taking full advantage -- and the OHA is going to be releasing a series of articles about new-to-1.5 features in the coming weeks to help devs "prepare your applications for the release of Android 1.5 on phones." Sounds encouraging, doesn't it?

Devs should start working on widgets now :]]
bumpppp nobody cares?
Sounds good. Hopefully thisll help haykuro with his custom G builds
That is good news, should mean the 'cupcake' update will finally arrive. Anyone know if JF will be back on for this?

Oh I most certainly care and thanks for the information. I have been reviewing the information on updates and there do not seem to be too many surprises. It should be noted that this is a early preview of 1.5 not the final release. Final release of 1.5 is scheduled for the end of April which suggests G1 will not get an update till May.
A widget API is welcome. I can think of uses for the speech input intent as well though I am not terribly impressed with the speech search reliability. Until I have had a chance to review the docs and the upcoming articles though I do not really know what the other improvements bring to the table.
We are in an exciting time for android though. Cheers.

Try to run what? This is the sdk, you put it on your machine and then use eclipse(or whatever other java compiler) with it to write apps/widgets...
Any way to rip the ROM off the SDK?
I guess I thought I could run the emulator like in the other SDK?
Kernel Manager released! Lite (free): http://tinyw.in/0i8, Pro (cost): Available in the Market...ENJOY!
Hey everyone! I wanted to introduce a new app with a very simple but ambitious goal: create a place where all kernel developers can submit kernels easily and reach a much wider audience with ease.
The app currently does this:
1) Downloads a kernel from our fast and stable teamwin server
2) Unzips the relevant files (modules included)
3) Flashes the kernel
4) Installs the kernel modules
5) Clears cache/dalvik-cache
6) Reboots to apply the changes.
This entire process takes less than a minute, generally, (depending on download speeds of course ), and it is extremely simple for end-users to find a kernel, filter by kernel features (BFS, CFS, HAVS, SBC, etc) download/install kernels, and submit ratings for their favorite kernels.
If you use IRC, join us in freenode in #kernel-manager!
In order for this to be a success, we need support from kernel developers like YOU! Submitting a kernel to Kernel Manager is totally free and we even provide hosting for you! Right now I'm looking for kernel developers to submit kernels to start populating the app. Submitting kernels is easy!
THE LINK IS FOR KERNEL DEVELOPERS SPECIFICALLY! Go to http://kernels.teamw.in and register for an account! Once it's approved, you can easily enter new kernels, which immediately show up in the app. The app will be released in the market, and there will be a free+ad supported version, and a for-cost version that removes the ads.
Right now, we have a specific list of supported phones, but plan to add every nand-unlocked phone as soon as possible. (There are a lot of variables to account for on multiple devices to make sure the process works )
Please feel free to provide me with any feedback you have, or feature requests in order to make this a great tool for all of android to utilize!

You guys are awesome on xda. App works perfectly.
Started a kernel flash - during the download, I switched from 3G to WiFi. It didn't like that! Download froze. Phone locked. Just had to push power button until screen off, then power button on to get phone back. From Manage Applications, did a a clear data, clear cache, force close. Tried to run it again (saw that download count was up by one) and it immediately went into unzip. That ran a bit with nothing happening, so I killed it again. Looked on my sd card and found the kernel zip; it was only a couple of hundred kb. in size. Deleted it, ran it again; everything ran smooth (and download count went up by another one.)

Yeah sorry about that - I am going to fix the downloader so it doesn't flip out and break if/when you lose your data connection.

Minor issue: KM Lite won't register my vote. I'm trying to rate x99's AOSP kernel a 5 but it takes the vote but the counter won't go up. Still shows only one person has voted.

XDA TV (Phone Edition) v2.0
Sadly I've stopped the development of this app and removed the files from the server because of two things: No time and the server costs were too high.
Also sadly I've stopped developing for Android because my AdSense account was disabled right before I started developing a app that was going to be paid (I got really sad). So I've stopped developing for Android and focused more on BlackBerry (which is already getting me a bit of money for me to continue with this hobby). If anyone knows how to get paid from Google Play without an AdSense account please contact me and I'll be happy to come back.

Warning: If the app isn't working, just drop me an email or post the problem here, you don't need to rate the app with 1 star and comment like: "The app isn't working". Thanks for the support
Now you can have all the XDA TV videos wherever you go using this application. Now on your phone, if you have a tablet you should get it here.
Finally converted the code from the old version (which used HTML5) to pure Java. Still learning about design using XML, but that's for the next releases. Any suggestion or bug report just reply and I'll love to improve the app. I'll start to work on the tablet version as soon as I get another tablet (with Honeycomb/ICS this time). Thanks for your patience.

Now that we have an official release of GB for the SGS4G, we have a standard set of bloatware that the phone comes with.
The purpose of the SGS4G Debloater is to let YOU pick what bloatware you'd like removed from your phone.
FEATURES
* Lets the user pick which bloatware to remove
* Creates a CWM zip file. Flash, reboot, bloatware free!
NOTES
* Works with any KJ6 based ROM
* This works best on a freshly installed KJ6 rom that hasn't grabbed any market updates yet.
* Keep your custom Debloater zip on your SD card in case you flash any other KJ6 based ROM, that way you always have the rom customized to your liking.
INSTRUCTIONS
1) Browse to http://teamacid.sourceforge.net/debloater/
2) Pick which bloatware apps you'd like removed
3) Download the zip file
4) Transfer to your phone
5) Flash and enjoy a snappier phone!

No problem. I was a little surprised when I tested it myself. The first reboot after removing the bloat made the phone feel pretty snappy. I was getting tired of using Titanium to uninstall all the /system apps so I made that site.

If you can I'd love to work with you to make a mobile phone interface. I need to work out a POST submission bug that I found when using a phone but I think that can be solved by passing the data using JSON instead of letting the browser handle it directly. Basically it should feel more like a native phone interface. Large checkboxes and text to make it easier to select items, etc.

In February this year, Adobe announced that it will no longer develop further versions of its Flash Player for mobile browsers, and said that the beta version of Chrome for Android will no longer be supported. However, the company added that its Flash Player will continue to run on the stock Android browser. Today, Adobe is announcing that there will be no certified implementations of Flash Player on Android 4.1 a.k.a. Jelly Bean. Adobe added that beginning August 15, it will stop new installations of Flash from Google Play. However, security updates and other vital patches will continue for its existing Flash users.
Adobe added that the easiest way to ensure ongoing access to Flash Player on Android 4.0 and previous versions of the platform is to use certified devices that have Flash Player installed on them by the manufacturer. Android users running uncertified Android 4.0 or earlier devices will have until August 15 to get the Flash Player. “If a device is upgraded from Android 4.0 to Android 4.1, the current version of Flash Player may exhibit unpredictable behavior, as it is not certified for use with Android 4.1. Future updates to Flash Player will not work. We recommend uninstalling Flash Player on devices which have been upgraded to Android 4.1,” Adobe added.

???? are you confusing Flash with Java?
Its a shame. I use flash all the time when watching videos or streams on the go and hoped to see it get better in terms of optimization. I guess you can still just download the apk off somewhere and run it though unless im mistaken.

This action kinda proves Apple right. They dropped flash support a while ago.
That's one of only views where I actually agreed with Steve Jobs. Flash is an incredibly archaic program that slows browsing. I remember when I upgraded from Eclair to Froyo that most of the OS was much faster, but web browsing became a lot slower due to all the flash ads loading. I'm running JB on my Xoom and do have Flash installed because some sites have not made the switch, but I prefer site that favor HTML5. The writing has been on the wall for some time. Adobe had poor earnings and laid off some people and diverted resources from Flash to HTML5. Google releases Chrome for mobile devices without Flash support. Also, virtually every flash update for Android for the past 9 months or so has been a security fix and had nothing to do with improving performance.

A bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy, that. Apple's market share was such that they could, and did, change the playing field. If you're a web site owner who wants to attract mobile views, and over half your mobile target audience doesn't have Flash, it's pretty dumb to have your site rely on Flash. And with web site designers having a large incentive not to use Flash, and with a viable alternative now at hand, it doesn't make much sense for Adobe to keep putting resources into it, either. It's been clear for a long time that Flash was on its way out; the only question was how it would take to make it official.
Having video support built-in to the browser is clearly superior to the plug-in solution that Flash had to use. Still, I'm glad that we've had Flash available for these last couple of years to deal with the remaining Flash-based sites.
It is a shame there is no flash support. I installed cyanogenmod 10 preview build for galaxy s 3 and loved it until I tried to download flash player 11 and was not compatible. Restored right back to 9 which is 4.0.4 I need that flash player support. I don't know much about HTML 5 which is supposed to be the new thing.
You can still get flash through firefox I believe.
