[Q] Delete integrated app. - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello xda friends!!
I've changed wp7 account with registry tweak.
But I faced with problem. Apps what downloaded by older account are can't update. these include integrated app (ex. Extra Settings (samsung-couldn't find in marketplace.))
I could update by delete old app and newly download. But can't delete integrated app. How can i solve this problem?
Please help me...
thanks!! good day~

Phone ROMs typically include some XAP files (and DRM licenses for them, more like marketplace XAPs than homebrew ones). They are stored in the \Windows folder on the phone. Using the Mango Webserver app you can view and downlod these XAPs. You could either try re-installing them (each one comes with a special provxml file that installs it) if you can process the provxml, or you can try to sideload it.
By the way, what do you mean by "integrated" apps? Do you mean the ones that came with the phone, or the ones that install into the Settings hub? If you're trying to delete apps from Settings, the easiest way is to install another app with the same GUID (downloading the XAP will let you see the GUID) that installs to the app list (will replace the copy in Settings) and then uninstall it from there.

copying side apps from windows phone

Hi,
I had deployed an application on my phone, unfortunately my hdd crashed and all source was lost. There is hope to recover the source if I can copy the deployed app from my hd7. Any bright ideas?
- make your phone visible in Windows Explorer as Zune device;
- using TouchExplorer, copy your dll to documents/pictures (you need to experiment), then copy from Zune drive to PC;
- use Reflector to restore your source code;
Browse forums for #1-2, google for #3
Is touchxplorer safe to use? Does it change modes on the phone to get file system access?
I did rather not use apps like dfrouter...
Yes, it's safe. You can revert everything back.
great app! to my surprise I was able to find all the install dlls for my app. To recover I just renamed them to txt which made the phone think its an office doc thus enabling the email option.
no need to mess with registry settings to turn phone into usb disk.
I"m using wpdm to transfer side apps ringtone to my hd7.

Help required for Renaming Apps

I have an Unlocked Samsung Focus(thanks to windowsbreak). I have deployed HTC apps on my phone but currently these HTC apps are spread across since they start with different names
I wanted to know whether I can somehow rename all the HTC apps to start with HTC and then the app name so that all HTC apps will be grouped together
Example: Notes to renamed to HTC Notes, so it will appear along with HTC Hub itself.
Waiting to hear back from you guys
I suppose you could edit the individual xap manifest files but you might be better off just installing the folders application.
I didnt want to go the folder way since even if I go the folder way still in the main App Menu still the apps would be located at different locations. So just wanted to sort out the Apps.
Just trying to making the App Menu look good with everything arranged properly

How do I go about changing the manifest files? I didnt find an entry for the name of the app in WMAppManifest.xml or AppManifest.xaml
EDIT: Got it. Edited the title in WMAppManifest.xml and it worked. Thanks
renaming apps and changing icons
try this new app called app swap to rename apps and change icons.

[Q] Backup Savegames

Hello Community,
is there any possibility (interop-unlocked) Omnia 7 to backup the savegames, exspecially from Xbox Live games before resetting the phone?
Thank you for answers,
Malte
Windows Phone Device Manager v1.7.0.0 can backup and restore apps and games settings and data... unfortunately with public v1.8.0.0 backup not work...
also you can copy files for every game from IsolatedStore to PC with Windows Phone Power Tools or any other tool which have access to IsolatedStore
Like dxdy said, the Windows Phone Power Tools will let you do this. I was going to post a link but it seems that I can't, so it's at wptools.codeplexDOTCOM. Use the Isolated Storage Browser to copy save data from the old phone and to the new one.
thank you for your answers...
Fortunately I am Beta Tester of Windows phone device Manager. I think i will try that method First, otherwise i will copy the savegames from isolated storage.

PS: the spelling mistakes come from my German Keyboard Layout
you can't copy xboxlive games isostore, wpdm or wptools won't help you...only for sideloaded apps/games.
I installed WPDM and just had to notice, that there is a backup funkction, but it doesnt semm to work. I also noticed that I havent access to isolated storage with WPDM'S file explorer. I will no figure out the other program, hopefully it works. Anyway ist would be logically if yor're right and it isnt possible. I heard about a function that will be added to Xbox live hub from Microsoft. Maybe that will help me backup the dataa from my applications.
Thank you
With Wp Power Tools I was able
to solve my problem and copy the
savegames from the phone (but nox xbox live...),
cause as NebZoNe mentioned there is no way
to copy from the isolated storage of xbox live
games...
So, thanks anyway,
Malte1234511
Ok, after research i found out
there is a way (even Xbox Live), but I'm
not sure if I can post it here in XDA...

Just wondering if you could help me out as i have the same problem. I have sent you a PM
On a Samsung phone, you can use WP7 Root Tools to copy files from your games' IsolatedStore folders to another location (such as the IsolatedStore of the webserver app, very handy for this) from which you can get them off the phone.
I actually wrote a backup app for HTC phones, but by the time I got it working pretty well, nobody could run it anymore (needed old firmware). Sigh...

thanks for the reply but where would i find the IsolatedStore folders? The game i want to backup is Plants Vs Zombie
The phone creates an IsolatedStore folder for each app as you isntall the app. They are created in \Applications\Data\<GUID>\Data\IsolatedStore. You need to know the GUID of the app you're installing. I don't know what it is for PvZ off the top of my head, though if you download the XAP from the marketplace, open it up (it's a renamed ZIP file), and look at the WMAppManifest.xml file inside, you'll see an ID GUID. That's the one that you need to know.
winco's wAppStore shows apps GUID in a very simple way, even non free apps (E.Reid's marketplace too but need a little hack for non free apps)
Sent from my HD7 T9292 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
If someone creates XML file with most popular game names and GUIDs, I can write a simple backup/restore desktop app, helper to ISETool.exe
Suggested XML format:
Code:
<apps>
<app GUID=8eda0151-67e7-df11-a844-00237de2db9e>Birdy Bounce</app>
<app GUID=78681258-ec97-e011-986b-78e7d1fa76f8>Penguin</app>
...
and so on
...
</apps>

[Q] Pull a XAP off a phone?

Is there a way to pull XAPs off of your phone? I'd like to pull a few apps with ugly icons off and edit their icons (it's fairly easy, I've done it before with stuff off of XDA).
... people keep asking this. The reasons vary but the question has been asked a lot.
The phone doesn't even store the XAP files, so no. It's like asking if you can get the "setup.exe" out of somebody's copy of a PC game.
However, the files in the XAP, and for your particular case the images in the XAP, are unpacked onto the phone's filesystem in \Applications\Install\<APP_GUID>\Install\. You can use an app like WP7 Root Tools to access them. I can't promise it'll work with marketplace apps (the binaries, at least, are signed and the signatures are checked every time the app is loaded) but it's quite possible there are no hash checks on content files.
Advanced Config allows you to change the icons for any app. If it's a free app there is a program floating around here that allows you to download the xaps to your computer from the marketplace then you can use winrar or whatever zip program you want and replace the app icon.

[Q] where are xap files stored in phone after download?

Hi, I want to copy xap files I download directly on my phone but don't know where they get stored before installation.
Please can someone help me locate the folder so I can back them up?
The reason why I want to do this is because I want to create a folder on my PC and in SkyDrive with all the apps I install like I used to do with cab files for windows mobile.
I'm going to be on wp7 for w long time and apps come and go, particularly homebrew ones and having the original xap files stored would be of great use to me.
I know that some programs on the marketplace can be directly downloaded to your PC but this is not the case for all apps and also requires you to use your PC exclusively when most of us download apps via our phones.
Having them all stored on SkyDrive would also make reinstalling a easy process (WP app reinstall option never works for me) and could be done away from my PC.
Thanks in advance, Steve.

not clicked on the link yet but thanks in advance.
I did do a search both here and on the wider web but found nothing.
Steve.
Ok, I've looked at all the links and the bottom one provides me with all the info I need, shame WP has to rename the files and make life unnecessarily hard but it can still be done.
Thanks again, Steve.
