Rom manager backup question - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

For some reason rom manager will only back up if I unmount my ext sd card. Otherwise it just boots into recovery. I can't seem to find any settings to change it.

Please excuse me. But do you mean nandroid backup? If so backup from within clockworkmod.

I used to just tap backup current rom in rom manager, make a name for it and it did its thing. Now I have to unmount the sd card first, then do the backup.

How to save apps??

How do i save my apps when changing from one ROM to another? I like checking out all the new ROMS out there, but i hate that i lose my apps...
Titanium Backup.

Mybackup pro is a good one too. You could always partition your sd card within rom manager or bootstrap to write the apps to your sd card. From there you can simply do an advanced restore of just the sd.ext.

ROM Manager thinks many G2x is a myTouch

My previous phone was a myTouch 4G, and I just transferred the sd card over to my G2x, but when I look to download a new ROM, it shows me MT4G ROMs. I erased the app data from titanium, but it still does the same thing. What's the fix for this?

Uninstall Rom manager from the manage apps menu, restart phone and reinstall RM. when you first start the app, it will ask you to select your phone model.

Awesome, I'll try that and get back with you. Thank you

Same thing. I uninstalled it and did a cold boot, then reinstalled. It didn't ask me to choose my device either.

Delete clockworkmod folder on sdcard. Also don't use rom manager to flash cwm, user nvflash.

ROM Manager isn't the best tool for flashing ROMs on the G2X, or even for exploring new ROMs. It is mostly late with updates, and doesn't hold a candle to the NVFlash/CWM method of flashing. The XDA Dev forum is the best place for this.
The op said it I transferred over my sdcard from my MyTouch 4g lol. Put the pieces of the puzzle together. Definitely do not use rom manager foe anything but checking for roms and renaming your nandroids, everything else you do with it may be harmful to your phone.

Format your ad card and you should be fine although I used my sd card from my old Mt4g on my g2x without problem
Worst case scenarios, format sd and phone and start fresh

I put 2 and 2 together and deleted the data and settings files from the ad card, but nothing. I'll copy my downloaded g2x ROMs out and erase the folder and try again.

I wasn't trying to be an ass sorry if I came across that way. Its just funny to me cause I've done that with many things school phones any solution to a problem, I have fixed while talking about it. But did you format completely or just delete certain files?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
I didn't format completely because I need the files on my SD card. There's no way around it?
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
That's odd. My best advice is to just not use RM, causes more problems than does good IMO.
Since RM doesn't even work well for the G2x to begin with, I'm assuming you just use RM to DL the ROM's?
Yeah, and to rename backups. It shows me ROMs I didn't know about

plug your phone into the computer copy your files to the desktop in a backup folder and then format through your computer...
Good idea I have absolutely no idea why I didn't think of that myself
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
It worked after I went back in after formatting my sd card and deleted the data. Thank you.

4EXT - Deleting android backups

How do you delete nandroid backups you no longer want?
Thanks
Its saved onto the sd card. Find the folder of the backup and delete it.
Sent from my LG-C800 using xda premium
Thanks.... Even though I currently run 4Ext I previously had Clockworks Mod, and found the nandroid backups there.
There's really no other place for a file that large to be, unless you're using a SGS2 with an internal SD card. But its got to be some file, hunt around and I'm sure you'll find it

TWRP backup not appearing

So I'm trying to restore and I'm not seeing anything, the backup is in the twrp folder in the SD card and it's also outside of it in the data folder.
I flashed a 4.2 ROM if that matters since it makes the /0 folder.

Yes the 4.2 does matter. Just move the entire twrp folder to the root of your SD card

Help restoring backup! Clockworkmod and recovery

Hello! I need help!
I flashed a rom yesterday and I backed up my rom before flashing. Today I was trying to restore my backup and the system did not find it. I can see it using Astro file manager under clockworkmod and backups. But on recovery it won't show. And the recovery shows three backups that I don't remember doing but two out of the three are not accesible. Please, if you can tell me how to make clockworkmod see my backup. I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!
Did you backup to the internal drive or external sd card. Try going to your backup and restore then click the restore from external sd card to see if it is possibly there.

I don't have an SD card. It was saved on my internal drive. I tried to but it says I can't because there is no Sd card.
Did you format your internal drive before you tried restoring the backup. Usually my cwm just populates the ones I have done or if I want to pull one of the ones on my sd card I can. I will try moving my backup and see if I can replicate the problem.

no I didn't I'll try to move it to an sd card and see what happens
I moved my backup to another folder and cwm did not find it. I'm not sure if you possibly moved it from the clockwork folder or not. I hope you figure it out.

If you are still having problems try going into rom manager app. Should have a manage and restore option. From there it should have a list of your backups and will let you restore from one of those.

Another thing to try is to make sure your recovery is current and up to date. That same thing happened to me (with TWRP) and it turned out it was due to me flashing a 4.2 rom (which changes the file structure of your sd) and having an older recovery that didn't support it.
