I have been successfully using below procedure for couple of month to get Samsung Galaxy S 4G Clockword recovery fully working.
I followed below steps and I got Samsung Galaxy S 4G clockword recovery's Backup, restore and ROM.zip flashing fully working.
1. Install VKB5 Rom on phone using odin (Download mode on phone) from below link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=978836
2. Download "3e_recovery_installer.zip" from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833423
run the 3e Recovery Installer. When finished, close.
3. Flash ClockWorkMod Recovery via ROM Manager from market by selecting "Vibrant" when asked for phone type. Then reboot into recovery.
(You may need to reboot your phone if you get stuck on the ROM Manager "Reboot to Recovery" screen) (Just reboot, then attempt to reboot into recovery again)
At the green recovery select "reinstall packages". The first time will fail, run it once more, and you should now have the green CWM Recovery menu.
4. use Rom Manager to flash SGS4_data_mount_VKB5.zip from below link:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4R3GI9O0
5- Now you should be able to backup, restore and flash Rom.zip files created with Deodexer using clockword recovery Rom Mananger.
Enjoy

Known Issues:
1- data folder 3rd party aplications i.e. none Google included in Rom.zip will not be flashed with rom.zip to the phone but can be installed later.
Note that data 3rd part aplication can though be backed up and restored with Clockword_recovery.
This is not the optimal solution for SGS 4G Clockword Recovery Mod. I have been waiting so long like all others on this forum for the offical ROM Manager Clockword Recovery Mod for SGS 4G. So I started loosing hope, therfore I tried to use others on this forum experiences to come up with a working Clockword Recovery Mod for SGS 4G. again this is working fine for me with a minor issue I already mentioned above in issues. If I find a better working Clockword Recovery Mod for SGS 4G I will switch to it as soon as possible. This one is satifying my needs for Backup, Restore; and flashing ROM.zip and zip files for now.
THIS IS A BETA TEST, I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU BRICK YOUR PHONE SINCE THIS USES ANOTHER CWM METHOD FROM THE SAMSUNG VIBRANT
What rom is this again?

good question.... this has really been interesting, I've been working on both the T959 (TMO Vibrant) and then this one T959V (4g) to see the differences and I must say there have been more threads, comments, you name it but each have a problem or a lot of them. Of course I have been using the instructions & files accordingly and not using the same for the two phones, however there has been a lot I have used on the 4G that I used on the Vibrant.
All of the instructions seems to vary a bit as well (all using Odin). This one seems to make sense. I have been trying them all and changing things here and there as I go. I've been logging what . Did you revert to stock using Odin and if so which thread and how did it go? I'm curious. I'll post what happens with this.

Not to flame... But this route is redonkulous. I have to agree that the other route being taken by krylon and honk is the way to go...

Everyone should seriously wait until there is an official release for the SGS4G.
Telling people to use the Vibrant CWM version is not acceptable. This will add into the mix problems for people. Issues that will make it even harder for people to help diagnose when people post they are having issues.
Congrats on getting it to "work" on your phone. Thanks for sharing your experience, but everyone should be warned:
This method is not the right way to get CWM working on your phone.
Wait till CWM built by Dr Honk and Krylon360 is done and submitted to be included in ROM Manager. You'll save yourself alot of trouble and headaches.

Additionally, why are you instructing people to install KB5. Also why is this listed as CWM3 when it's still using AMEND for the scripting and not Edify? What is the actual version number of CWM, I'm guessing it's not CWM3.
Thanks for posting all the questions, I didn't see the Vibrant part, I personally wouldn't rely on it being 100% safe unless it's been running a while. Truth is I "think" I used Vibrant Desktop Toolbox on the SGS 4G & continued working on it for a while as if it was the Vibrant until I could barely see (4am). But did notice the FFC and went oh s......! I thought I had made so much progress from recovering it from partitioning the SD card through Rom Manager (wiped the internal SD), live and learn.
Now SGS shows an internal SD Card where the Vibrant shows only SD Card in recovery. So since then have been making small changes and comparing. Still in recovery and am yet to find a thread with all the Odin info that you need to know (like changing ports, which worked for me). So until I come across a method made for that device that gets me back to stock I'll continue playing and see what comes out of it. After the Vibrant wouldn't boot I decided to keep the SGS in hopes to be able to learn off of the themes and info I use from the Vibrant thread to modify for the SGS and soon the SGS's Forum would be as busy as the Vibrant's is. I had done a couple things before this but nothing risky, just learning, it was careless mistakes that landed me here.
I'm sure you agree that the most simplified way to flash CWM is with Rom Manager but since that's not an option at the moment we have to wait or try an alternative & what's development without getting creative?..?.
If anyone knows knows of a thread with working links & clear instructions to odin back to stock please let me know. SO many methods just minor changes which some have made a difference. I ended up piecing my own update zip and it went further than any other. I pieced together a rom from a reliable Vibrant developer and pieced it as needed with a couple others. Got past the way more than I thought I would have only encouraging me to do more until I realized I need to stop and get a phone working....so I got a new phone so I could be reached..
If I totally understand what you did then maybe I'll try your method & will give you an update. But if something went wrong I would rather know it was me to blame for using files used for Vibrant on SGS. Everything out says don't use sw made for Vibrant on SGS, If you know why this is okay or what to do to make the sw compatible that would be great for SGS! It was fun playing at this level but I want Trigger and everything else back on the Vibrant and learn to make the SGS custom as well. Enough with recovery and downloading, those views are going to be embedded in my screens.

Well this guy has been posting alot of stuff that is not stable. Including this.
Here is what is stable:
Follow the instructions to put the latest CWM Beta 3 on your phone:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13181141&postcount=1
Then all you have to do is boot into CWM and flash this ZIP. It's pretty simple, which is why what this guy is trying to get you to do is messed up.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074939
Additionally, there are numerous posts out there about how to use ODIN. Flash any one of the DEODEXED or STOCK TARS that are on the SGS4G forum. No need for using a PIT. It's again, pretty straight forward, just read anything BUT what this OP is trying to provide. DON'T FLASH STUFF for the ORIG VIBRANT onto SGS4G.
Joedeveloper is correct, the two phones are totally different. Partitions are way different, sgs4g are actually closer to epic than vibrant 3g.

I will leave this open, just posted a note in the OP first post as a warning.

When I saw the “Download "3e_recovery_installer.zip" from here:” I was skeptical.I had visions of when I used that method back in March and nearly bricked my phone. I was able to recover from that fortunately. I chose the Wait and see philosophy on this solution.

I think the user should change the title of the thread. This isn't really a simplified procedure and uses the old using AMEND for the scripting and not Edify like the newer CWM.
People won't be able to flash the Theme's that people have been posting in the Theme and App section and they won't be able to flash future ROM's and ports.
Hello everyone. This is my first post, so please be gentle. I've been reading around and I can't seem to find specific answers to my questions so I figured it would be best to make a post. This is my first Android phone and also the first phone I have rooted so I'm trying to be extra careful. I've already received tons of help from other threads in these forums, but as I said I've still got a few questions.
I rooted my SGS4G using SuperOneClick v2.1.1, then proceeded to install CWM ROM Manager as per the instructions I found in many articles online. Once I got that installed I was unable to make backups as it would boot me into the stock recovery menu, which led me here searching for answers. That is when I came across this thread: [RECOVERY]CWM FINAL for the SGS4G After following the instructions I wasn't exactly sure what to do, so I attempted to boot into the "new" recovery menu which ended at an infinite boot logo, which I assumed was a soft brick after reading around a bit.
After thoroughly freaking out about my phone being bricked I looked around a bit more and came across this thread: [GUIDE] Noobs guide to Odin to flash your SGS4G (Windows) Following that thread I was able to install the T959VUVKB5 Stock + Root ROM which restored my soft brick. Once that was installed I installed CWM ROM Manager again thinking the Recovery Menu would be fixed and I could finally make a backup before moving on, but it wasn't. Then I came across this thread: [Odin][Kernel] drhonk's Bali 3.3 for Froyo, Installs CWM!
After installing drhonk's Bali 3.3 for Froyo kernel I was finally able to make a single nandroid backup (and backup my apps using Titanium Backup)! I messed around on the phone for a few days with no issues (other than the Android flickering in the boot logo). Now I am ready to move on to trying out a few ROMS. So, first thing first I said: I need to make another backup. So I entered the Recovery Menu via the CWM ROM Manager and attempted to make another backup, and this is what I get:
E: failed to open /etc..... (I couldn't write fast enough to copy the entire message)
E: unknown volume for path [/sdcard] (10s)
The second of which repeated over and over until it reached 0s and then my phone was rebooted.
TL;DR
- Rooted using SuperOneClick
- Installed ROM Manager and couldn't make a nandroid backup correctly
- Attempted to install CWM FINAL for the SGS4G, which resulted in a soft brick
- Restored using ODIN and installed T959VUVKB5 Stock + Root ROM and drhonk's Bali 3.3 for Froyo kernel
- Cannot make nandroid backups (other than the initial one apparently), Recovery Menu does not seem to be working correctly
- I am not comfortable trying new ROMs until I am able to make backups correctly
Anyway, so here are my questions:
1. What do I need to install to allow me to make nandroid backups correctly? Or is there another app besides CWM ROM Manager that will allow me to do this?
2. I would like to try a few other ROMs, but I when I reach the so-called "Do the mounting stuff" step I am unable to continue as my Recovery Menu isn't working correctly. What do I need to install in order to be able to do complete this step? I have a feeling the answer to #1 will solve #2 as well.
3. I would like to try a few of the GB ROMs (such as Valhalla v1.3.2 or Stock Gingerbread 2.3.3 Deodexed + Root), but I am not sure exactly where to go from here. Is the GB Ext4 Starter Pack the way I need to go, or would this way be better? Can I do either of these without a working Recovery Menu?
Thanks in advance for all the help!
Your first mistake was rom manager. It does not work for this phone correctly. Odin one of Dr honks kernels to get cwm recovery. They are in the dev section.

it is fine. if you can wait a day or two, i will make a nice noob guide on getting from stock to a custom rom. i will be sure to link every pertinent thread and be sure to have a little FAQ section. hopefully it will help you.

Thanks, but I figured that out shortly after installing it. What alternative are we supposed to use? Hopefully your noob guide will help.
are you sure you understand? seeing as you mentioned BOTH bali and krylon's cwm, yet you still do not know how to get the custom recovery on the phone. once again, i will write a nice guide for you, so for now, just odin back to stock and give me a day or two. once im out of work, i will take a nap and write this for you.

Apparently I do not understand. I guess I will just wait for your guide. Hopefully it will pick up where the other guides failed (for me anyway).
Edit: After reading around a bit I think I understand where I went wrong. As a noob I was confusing CWM with ROM Manager (after all, they're both made by the same people right? I believe that's what was confusing me ). I have since uninstalled ROM Manager and have booted to the Recovery Menu and successfully made a backup.
I myself have been a member for coming up on one year. And when I originally joined I was modding my Mytouch 3G. Much easier phone to mod and especially with ROM manager. This phone on the other hand requires more attention to detail. It is very important to do your due diligence to research this site for answers before posting. The reason is, all the wonderful and talented folks making all this possible are providing us all these great hacks, cracks, and roms for free. The information is here if you just look for it. Now if you are having trouble understanding the info that is also understandable. I find questions are better received if you show everyone what you have researched and then say what your are confused about.
Enough of the lecture, the end result is that everyone here is really nice and helpful. Here are the 3 links you should save. The Bible lists everything about our phone. Now at this stage in the game unless you really want to get more background on how the phone has evolved from Froyo to GB you won't need to read the Bible. The first thing you will need to do is follow the instructions for Bali 3.3 + CWM. This will provide you with the Red CWM recovery making it possible for you to flash Froyo Roms. Once you have completed this step you can move on to the GB Starter Pack. This guide will prepare your phone with the correct bootloaders it requires to run GB Roms. Once this process has been completed you can flash GB Roms. And if you need a quick list of the roms available just look in the Bible. Hope this helps, just be patient and make sure you understand what you are reading and attempting before doing anything. And if you don't understand a step or a process then come and ask and you'll get better answers and better understanding of what you're actually doing to your phone.

Thanks for the help. I tried to do as much research as I could before posting (as you can see, I've posted two of the three links you suggested in my OP, and I basically keep the Bible open at all times ). It's just the little things that I find confusing, which is why I posted this thread. It's nice to know that from this point I can proceed to the GB Starter Pack and play around with the GB ROMs, but I think I'd like to try a few Froyo ROMs before I take that step Thanks for confirming that!
Sorry for the double post but I have another question.....
I've been reading over FB's GB Ext4 Starter Pack thread and I just wanted to make sure that once you get to the part where you flash your "favorite GB rom" that Valhalla v1.3.2 would be an acceptable ROM to flash there. If not, which ROM should I flash first, then flash Valhalla? Thanks in advance.
Yes, Valhalla would be fine to flash at that point (any version). just as long as you went through each step of the directions first. you'll be fine.

I was fuclking frustrated when trying to CWM / ROOT / CUSTOM rom my charge.
I have rooted and installed more roms than i can shake a stick at with my other phones.
But the lack of information on sooooo many of the dev threads that leave out soooooooooooooooooooooooo much info made my head spin.
First of all.
Odin is a program that you can install clockword mod with, as well as some custom roms.
Clockwork mod is a recovery / install tool that you install to be able to install custom roms and packages.
Even installing clockwork mod is a hassle, often you have to install it with odin and select, dont auto reboot. then pull the usb and then the battery.. then you have to hit the VolumeUp button + power + home to get into cwm.. and hopefully it will stick..
Once you get cwm installed you have to download a rom..
There are many of them, i went with a package that you load via odin instead of installing from clockwork mod.
i went with a package that was a stock 2.3.6 with root.
after i installed it, it was recommended that you wipe devlink cache, system cache.
finally after i rebooted i finally had a rom that was rooted.
This was after 2+ hours of searching through threads, downloading way too much crap and swearing at my computer for the lack of quality directions.
Usually XDA is rife with STICKYS that are easy to follow.
The charge forum is quite the opposite.
If i was not tired / drunk and frustrated i would post a correct HOW TO thread.. that i would imagine would not get stickied.

The charge forum is quite the opposite.
If i was not tired / drunk and frustrated i would post a correct HOW TO thread.. that i would imagine would not get stickied.

Hey bro, no need to get frustrated, you tried too hard to learn all at once. Let talk about what you have on your phone and what you want to achieve? I will take you through step by step.
Another thing I want to clear with you about Odin and CWM. They both are two useful tools to flash rom/kernel etc.. If kernel or full rom image are created in a ZIP format or extension, you use cwm. If a rom/kernel created in a MD5 format or extension, you would use Odin.
For example; the new FP1 kernel was made in both format so you have a choice to use either to flash.
Summary:
1. If the file ended with ZIP extension like "FP1_kernel.ZIP", you would use CWM to flash.
2. If the file ended with MD5 extension like "FP1_kernel.MD5", then you would use Odin to flash.
In order to use cwm, it has to be installed on your phone. cwm was created in MD5 extension, so you need to use Odin to install cwm to your phone. Once cwm installed on your phone, in order to access it, you need to hold Vol up+home+power button to get to it, then you can use it to flash zip file.
Odin is an execution PC file (.exe), you download and install on your PC and it used to flash MD5 file. In order for Odin to talk to your phone, you have to put your phone in "download mode". By remove battery, plug in usb cable between your PC and phone, press Vol down button, this will put your phone in download mode, now you re insert battery back to ensure a stable data transfer between your PC and phone. Without put back battery, data transfer may fail. After this, Odin is ready to flash Md5 file to your phone.
Like I said, let me know what's on your phone and what you want to achieve, I can help you step by step to get it done. After you have some practice, you will understand what involved and how to use them. Cheers!!!

yeah.. i should have just read through the forums a day or so to figure out the odin / rooting / rom process for this phone.
But i am a seasoned vet in the android world and got pretty frustrated, mainly because a few of the other xda forums made me a little jaded by the process.
I have a fully functioning 2.3.6 rooted charge with CWM and the edited build prop to keep the Unwanted ota updates from bugging me.
Thanks for not flaming the f-out of me.
BTW have yall come across a thread about sandblasting or sandpapering the back cover of the phone to make it less slippery? I have sweaty f-ing hand, i know gross, but its a slippery phone for me.

Not a problem, you can get a back cover from ebay for a few bucks and it will do the trick.
Seems like you already knew how to handle cwm, why don't you flash (using cwm) FP1 eclipse rom, kernel and radio, so you will be on the latest O/S?
My wife has a Optimus T running the stock ROM. Her phone is out of internal storage space and I thought that this would be a good time to put something newer on it. I offered to give her my Galaxy Nexus or get her a Nexus 4 but she loves her phone. She thinks mine is to big and complicated.
I admit that I did not spend a lot of time searching for a solution for her phone and figured that you guys would know best about what is best for this phone. Is there a functional CM9, 10 or 10.1? That would be the best solution, IMHO for her. The main thing I am looking for is stability. Flashy ROMS with lots of bells and whistles are out. Basic ASOP type of ROM is what she wants.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the help androidisfuture. If I broke the rules by posting a question in the Q&A forum, I am so sorry, I did not realize that this was not allowed.
I admitted that I did not spend a lot of time searching for an answer, but I could not determine if the P500 and the P509 use the same ROM. The threads that I did review were not explicitly state that they would work on the P509.
Try Gingersnap by neko. Use link2sd to extend memory.
Thanks to those that helped. I got CM9 on it and it is working great!

I guess its ok to ask this: for cm9 flash, what tool did you use? did you just load it via the manual boot-to-recovery and use cwm or twrp, or did you use something like Goo ?
I'm interested in both cm9 and gingersnap... on my shortlist

I just used the latest CWM from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1523050
I have a lg optimus t myself. I rooted using super one click. Then from play store installed from manager aka clockwork mod. The rom I am using is the latest icy snap which has a built in app2sd thing. This requires formatting though so backup first. In fact its best to do a backup right in clockwork mod then store that backup on computer. Pm me if you wish. Once my power is restored and I have a regular keyboard I can give better instructions.

I read repeatedly that ROM Manager does not work on Optimus T/500/509 . before I restored a stock rom I had run it on my handset and I'm not sure what happened to be honest. i had a sorta half-installed CWM.... CWM itself was non-functional, but if I ran Nandroid Online Backup app [from the play store] it would work, stash a fresh backup in the CWM folder on the SD card.
I have read elsewhere that if you run ROM Manager several times, just as if nothing had installed on first pass, it will finally get cwm installed, but I don't trust it. Wish we had a "superoneclick" type tool for installing one of the good custom recoveries.
if anyone knows the term commands for installing cwm, or twrp, or whatever workable custom recovery, i'd love to hear of it - been looking all over but what I find is usually half-described, followed by many posts/replies of fails.

I also recommend AmonRa recovery, its tried and true and you shouldn't run into any problems
thanks for this 3
I have that winfastboot /android-flash-recovery tool - the problem with this handset, which is noted hundreds if not thousands of times, is to try [without a custom recovery] to boot to fastboot mode usually means you will not get fastboot but you will get to reinstall all your stuff again because it will reset your phone . so.. I'm willing to try amonra, twrp,, whatever someone claims has succeeded on p509 but just need plain instruction. there is no magic bullet like there is superoneclick for rooting. can't use goomanager. we see how well rom manager turned out.... if you happen to have a link to something that gives the steps to any of these including cwm I would be quite appreciative. I can't count the number of threads and youtubes, blogs, etc I"ve been through that are titled something like "how to install a custom recovery on optimus _[whatever]" only to find them linking to an xda thread, which in turn has no specific install steps :crying:, or worse... incomplete or erroneous.
@cognus ,what about this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1109727
Or this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1007244
Hey everyone! I would like to start off by saying that I am brand new here, and am surely going to mess up quiet alot... But here goes,
I've recently rooted my phone with a very simple guide, and it's the first device I've every rooted. So I know very little of the process of doing so, (I'm learning slowly).
I also have found a rom that I would like to install, but I would love to know if others think it seems legit? If it is real, I know many people would absolutely love to use it! The rom's URL is (ht tp:// playfuldroidz.com /wiki/ CyanogenMod_10_Motion) (Please remove spaces, sorry as I said i'm new...)
Now I don't mind testing this myself, but being as new as I am at android I honestly do not know how to follow the relatively simple instructions.
(This Is where I need some help, Please be noob cautious!)
Download the .zip & copy to phone or sdcard (make sure 4g or wifi is enabled if dl'd from phone).
Zip can be installed from either internal or external sd in CWM (Which ever you copied it too!)
MAKE A BACKUP!!!
DO A FACTORY RESET!!! - this will wipe data & cache!
Go to install zip from sdcard
Choose zip from sdcard
Select cm-10-xxxxxxxxxx-UNOFFICIAL-l0.zip
Confirm
Repeat Steps 5 -8 for gapps
Reboot
Now my first question I'd love some help with, is how do I perform this backup there talking about? do they just mean my simple go into settings and click backup? Or should I do it some otherway?
Second question: Do they mean the phones built in service of factory reset?
Third Question: To install a Zip from an SD card do I need to simply use ES file explorer, or root file browser? Or is there a custom way to install a Zip file on android?
Fourth and final Question: What is gapps..? Is this something I should get or use?
EDIT: I've got a fifth one also... Thanks to anyone who's stayed this long and is willing to help me.! Will this Cyanogen mod (If working) Work almost exactly like a real nexus Operating system? I've got a nexus 7 tablet running stock android, and I love it! That's why I'm doing this to my phone honestly.
Thank you all greatly!

Question 1,2 and 3.. they are all done through Clockworkmod. Look through the menus you'll see it if you still struggle look on YouTube.
Question 4.. gapps is Google Apps you need to flash this after the ROM to get the play store and all the other standard Google apps.
Question 5.. in your eyes pretty much, it'll look the same but with more features obviously.
Thank you alot!
Thanks! now i've only gotta do one last thing, and see if anyone knows whether or not this website is a reliable source, or atleast if the mod works...

I was just wondering if there's a chance this clock work mod thing doesn't work on my phone? I don't really know how, or where it is either... and I'd love some help with that... Thank you!
(Edit) I don't think there is a clockwork mod for my device... According to the Rom Manager app I was told to use for installing it.

If you did what it said in the instructions *root it, cwm, install custom rom* then after installing the custom rom it has it's own cwm. turn off the phone, turn in back home and press the back and home button together at the same time and it should take you to the rom's cwm. If the phone does a factory reset by pressing the back and home button then you did the installation wrong.
But just in case I'll setup a full instruction for you.
Root your phone.
Which can be done easily, just download this and extract the files: http://www.mediafire.com/?dhdbwflnl1vknx2
once you extract the files put your phone on debugging mode which can be done by going to settings, developer mode, and click usb debug.
once you've done that connect your phone to the pc *make sure it's on charge only* wait for driver installation to finish. once that's done click root. follow instructions on the screen it shouldn't be too hard! after following instructions you should be rooted and have cwm. but to install the recovery go to your apps and find lte 2nd init recovery and then click the top button, agree to super su to use it and you're done with rooting and cwm! now. these files you were talking about, download them and put them on sd which can be done with a file manager. after they've downloaded go to the lte 2nd init and click the bottom button. it will reboot the phone and take you to cwm. While you are in cwm click on the home button to go to external which is the sd, then go to backup and restore, and click backup! this is very important. miss this step and things could go bad. Now all you have to do is follow the instructions you posted yourself and you should be done! if you need any help don't hesitate to message me. I've done this for a long time now.
Whoops forgot to add. the website IS a reliable source. Learned that cause I'm a risk taker and decided to try it out myself. and do not use rom manager or anything like that for recovery. ever. especially on phones that do not have their own recovery mode. also. the CM10 works great in my opinion! But there's a catch. for me at least. even though everything is perfect during phone calls I cannot use my 4g. which is a bad thing for me cause I need it. other than that if that doesn't bother you or anything or don't have service then knock yourself out and install the cm10!
COMPLETED) This mod worked, all things are now finished except one small issue!
So after installing the mod with some great help of someone here on this forums, I've been basically beta testing the mod for a few days. I have nearly no complaints, as almost everything works seemlessly just like you'd except the operating system to. In the end I found one single issue though, which is terribly annoying for me in specific...
My GPS isn't working, which could be one of many things other than the rom. Seeing as I only recognized It yesterday, there may be an outside reason it at random shut off. If anyone know's what can cause this, and a fix for it please comment back!
Thanks to everyone who helped with installing the mod

Please help me with the rom
Hey guys not sure if i am suppose to post this here but i couldnt find any where else and i couldnt find an answer with my exact problem, i installed this rom on my moms lg motion and everything went find untill i got to gapps it came up with an error inside of cwm so i just contined all the other flashes i had to do and rebooted i thought that i could just flash gapps later. But i mad a very big booboo i installed the Recovery APK for it in cm 10 i forgot all about pressing reboot and saying reboot into revocovery so i was going to try it though the Recovery APK so i installed the thing and pressed reboot and instead of taking me into recovery it takes me to a screen that says something like "mourning call error" which i dont know what means but i had to take out the battery and turn the phone back on so that worked and i got back to the home screen but i still cant install gapps so she can use all the google sevices i tried rebooting with the built in reboot into recovery (the one that you press reboot when you hold the power button) and that does the same exact thing i have no way of flashing gapps or anything else for that matter can someone please help me i have no idea what to do. everything i working on the phone but that. thank you sorry if i put this in the wrong place.
Confused my droid using this method- would love in on this thread
Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place-punch me if I have-
I rooted my lgms770 with version f firmware- installed cwm and 2ndinit recovery (2nd init was the only known way (to me anyway) to get into cwm at the time) followed this guide ---
[LgMotion All Things root] and
[GUIDE] Unbrick OR Unroot LG Motion 4G [KDZ] - Android Forums
I am not allowed to post urls yet...sorry...its the the first google hit
I've tried multiple versions of the official LG Firmware flash, from the website, and by following this guide-
AOKP Dirty Unicorns baseless port cm10 - Android Forums Actually, its the unicorns that got me.
With no luck there. I am running Mint16, and had to run the programs through Wine of course, then tried Q4wine, and eventually tried running though Oracle VM, and finally, I wiped my ancient dell of Linux altogether and put WinXP back on it (took 2 hours, that). No cigar. And yes, I did the drivers, all in order, etc, tried again, reinstalled etc
I finally set up adb to try to get into this droid that way, but am having problems with port permissions (I'm going to guess that's on my pc's end-running Mint16)
I can access the factory reset screen (the black and white), download mode, and the battery charges on a black screen with a nice purple font, but I am still stuck in a bootloop. I've employed all known button spamming combos to get back into cwm (there is a nandroid in there somewhere)..but alas...
Help me Obi-Wan-Kenobi's..
Peach
I had the purple letters with no way to get to the factory reset screen i just used the lg online flash tool in upgrade recovery put in the imei of the phone in made sure the phone was in usb download mode then it was fixed but for some odd reason i still cant get my phone to the factory reset option. I apologize sincerely if I wasn't detailed enough if you need any clarification on it then let me know through pm or i could even send u a link to my box folder i keep the install files in.
(Also i have a one click root app for the LGMS770 So if you or anyone would like the link i would be happy to give it to you)
