Hello,
I'm currently testing pretty much every weather app I can find on the Skyrocket. I'm wondering which ones do you guys use and which are recommended?
Also,
Which do you find more accurate. I actually find Go Weather accurate when compared to rest.
Right now, I'm playing with Beautiful Widgets. I like it and have customized it quite a bit. Like the high level of customization. Anyone using it? If so, what external applications are you launching from it?
For example, when clicking on the weather graphic on homepage, it takes you to their animated detail screen with 5 day forecast. I would like to click on the 5 day forecast area and launch some kind of weather app that will give written detail on the weather and also some radar maps to view. Any recommendations?
Thanks,
Beatiful Widgets. You can get it for free from getjar.com
Yes, that's the one I mentioned that I'm currently testing. I like it, but want more detail. What external program are you launching for this? Ex. Description, radar, maps, etc.
-Sent from my Samsung Skyrocket-
I use AccuWeather for Android from the market in conjunction with Beautful Widgets (i.e. when I touch the 5-day forecast, it goes to the app.
I tried 1Weather and liked the layout, but there is no hourly forecast and it actually made the icons in my app drawer disappear (as soon as I uninstalled it, they came back no problem).
AccuWeather usually seems to be pretty accurate, though how accurate is any weather forecast, really?!
Thanks! Yes, I'm really liking beautiful Widgets now. Just want more detail. I will try accuweather again. I have tried it quite some time ago and wasn't happy with it. Do you also have it set as main choice over Google?
And yes, you are right...what weather forecast is ever accurate lol

Yes. I selected it out of the two services, and then downloaded the Accuweather for Android app to use when I touch the five-day forecast.
My-Cast Weather Lite
I use My-Cast Weather Lite: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.digcy.mycast&hl=en
It has decent maps and forecasts. I know know about widgets because I think weather widgets are lame. Instead, it has a status that shows the temp in the status bar and resent conditions when the drawer is pulled down.
Does it provide detailed weather info and radar maps?
I just tried Accuweather again and still don't like it. Trying to find a decent alternative. I hate WeatherBug too.
Thanks guys,
BeWeather Pro Rocks
Thanks for the suggestions guys...
I found a pretty damn nice one and is the one I'll be using.
BeWeather Pro. It is not free in the Market but free from Getjar.
I am using Beautiful Widgets with Accuweather and its pretty good with a lot of wiedets style etc.

bought the full version. my fav by far..
Right now, my combo is Beautiful Widgets + WeatherBug (for the few times I need more detailed info like hourly forecasts). HD Widgets isn't bad either. It's just about the same as Beautiful Widgets.
Go Weather used to be my daily driver. Loved the animations and being able to add multiple cities. But, it kept giving me these stupid GPS error notifications regardless of whether I had the GPS radio on or not.

You mean WeatherBug? It's pretty good, and fairly detailed. Maybe not the prettiest app out there, though. Looks more or less exactly the same as when I had it on Windows Mobile.
I use GO Weather, great app. link is here https://market.android.com/details?...GwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5tZWRpYXdvei5nb3dlYXRoZXIiXQ..

RadarScope
I do some storm chasing and weather photography and for NEXRAD Level 3 radar data and severe weather warnings, I use RadarScope. It's $9.99 but well worth it.
https://market.android.com/details?...yLDEsImNvbS5iYXNldmVsb2NpdHkucmFkYXJzY29wZSJd
I use weatherbug. All the other ones I tried seemed all about being flashy over being accurate and dependable. I live in Michigan and the weather changes on a dime here. I need reliability. Plus the radar is the best on it.

not that new been on the market for a good week or so but its nice kinda the same as weather & toggle widget though
Good find! Side note, I used to live in P-Cola too.
I live in Anchorage, Alaska
the complete opposite of there
Why can't these HTC Clock applications replicate the animation that plays when you turn the phone on and the screen is showing the clock.. to me they are worthless without it..
Don't know why.. I just love that effect..
my example in my sig
Thanks so much loving it...
Nice, thanks!
It is quite nice but it is all out of whack in landscape view... on the Droid anyway.
i've used beautiful widgets, and weather and toggle, this is by far the closest replication i've seen, altho i really really wish it displayed the flip animation for the time. that would add so much class.
nice, same as manila 2d by htc on windows mobile... thx...

Actually that is not 100% correct. It's because the animated version is proprietary to HTC. Beautiful Widgets used to be virtually identical to the HTC weather widget until HTC hit the company with a C&D letter. Now every update by Beautiful Widgets has to be approved by HTC before they can release an update. Check out Beautiful Widget version 2.35, that was the last version before the C&D.

Yeah, they need a little lesson in 9.patch and xml...
Nevertheless, it's a good looker in portrait.
mine still looks a little wierd in landscape view, all the text is outside the black border
Does anyone notice the slight banding around the numbers? You can see the numbers having a slight halo. The halos disappear when you try to slide the screens. Reminds me of the 16 bit issue of android...
While this installed without issue, I currently have no Weather Forecast showing? It reads my location fine and states 'Leeds' (UK) however no image of sunshine, or should i say rain clouds here in northern England lol! Anyone else experiencing the same? I did a google search and found others noticing the same on other phones but nothing regarding Nexus. Currently running Enom 1.9.2 and ADW Launcher.
Thanks.
What has been your experience with these? How does one compare to the other in terms of memory usage, battery life, and user experience? Which do you prefer and why?

Launcher Pro wins....just no sense widgets while using
Launcher Pro used less memory by about 0.5MB, I get a little bit better battery out of it with heavy usage (extra hour), the homescreen and app drawer will turn and adjust in landscape, also you can set programs up like the action buttons from froyo since it is included with the launcher. Just remember though the sense widgets will not work while using the launcher so you will have to download third party ones such as beautiful widget if you really still want the weather/clock widget. If know were to look you can find older versions for free so your not paying for something you already have stock with sense. Also follow the link threads and get the 4G widget from rdude (remember to donate since it is useful) so you can still have this toggle on your homescreen like you would be able to in sense.
I switched to Launcher Pro and am not looking back. Battery life is way better but i suspect its because i am not loading any of those heavy Sense widgets like email, friendstream, etc.
Try Fancy Widget instead of Beautiful Widgets. Fancy widget is free and looks *just* like the sense digital clock.
Beside battery life, Launcher Pro is more customizable especially with latest updates (scrolling dock bar, moveable App Drawer button, etc)

Sent from my HTC EVO 4G using Tapatalk Pro.
I've been using LauncherPro almost since the first version was released, when I was using a Sprint Hero. It just keeps getting better and better with every upgrade. I haven't looked at the Sense UI on my phone in at least a week. And that was just because I was comparing the flip clock/weather widget from Fancy Widgets with the HTC flip clock/weather widget, to see the differences. They are almost identical, pixel for pixel.
Also, to get more of a sense ui feel out of the launcher, you can set up 7 home screens, and download smooth calendar from the market. It looks very similar to the 1 x 4 calendar widget from HTC.
One of my favorite features of the launcherpro is the 3d app drawer. Also, the row of icons at the bottom, that you can configure however you want.
And it's nice with the huge screen, to have 5 rows of icons on the home pages. I turned off auto-orientation, as 5 rows of icons looks like crap in landscape.

Does anybody have issues with the wallpaper not changing after changing it inside of Launcher Pro? I have to go into Sense UI change it there, then go back into Launcher Pro and change it there. For some reason it wants to default to the HTC default wallpaper. The one with the out of focus different colored circles. Has anybody had this issue? If so how did you fix it?
I prefer ADW.Launcher. More customizable than Launcher Pro. You can set the screens as up to 8x8, choose widget sizes, etc.
BTW is there a link to that 'warp speed' star wallpaper?

For those of you running custom ROMs, do you "ban" Sense while using LP or just set it as default?

SwitchPro Widget now has 4g toggle. The only thing it lacks now is a toggle for hotspot.
So one of the only things I find myself salivating at on my wife's HTC Incredible 2 is the Sense weather/clock widget. Thing looks badass. I've found some of the ripoffs on the appstore, and have installed Beautiful Widgets, which has some pretty cool clocks, but a lot of them look like janky crap.

Fancy Widget Pro is great. I prefer it over Beautiful Widgets and Weather Toggle & Widgets.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.anddoes.fancywidgets
I guess the new version is called just Fancy Widgets
Weather and Toggle Widgets. I use the Digital Clock skin:
Thanks for the suggestions The couple of clocks I've downloaded for Fancy Widgets(I only had free before, but just bought full version) are already way better quality than the ones on Beautiful Widgets. Will try to post a screen shortly

Second to that, plus they had it as an Amazon Free App of the day once. Woohoo!
Beautiful Widgets all the way. I've been using the destroy skin with a transparent background. Around 50% that way I can see my screen background.
DroidX Eye Clock widget
At some point in the last nine months I had a DroidX Clock widget on my OG Droid. I really was just a clock widget that used the DroidX Eye as a background, and offered a choice for the eye color (red, blue, green, yellowish). It was lost at some point in one of the many times I flashed different roms to that phone. I have looked a few times in the last couple of months, but have been unable to find it.
If anybody has seen that widget, or has it, I'd love to get it installed on my Droid Charge.
(BTW: Verizon tunred on 4G in my area today, and it is crazy fast... loving it).
Actually. Use go launcher and then get.goweather. your wife will be salivating looking at your phone. They.have an htc style clock that is better than htcs. And the coolness.of go launcher is a "see it to appreciate it" thing. Set your app drawer to have the blind effect. Its awesome lol.

Check out GS Flip Clock wallpaper. I'm running version 4.3 on my Samsung Tab and it's fantastic. It is as close as you can get to the HTC version. It had some growing pains initially, but as of version 4.3 everything seems to be working great.
I didn't pay for it, so I must have found the apk via Google. I remember searching for quite a while because HTC had been putting the smack down on any developers who used the flip clock style.
Currently it is on the market (website only, it didn't show up when I searched using the market app on my Charge) for $2.00. Since I'm a "noob" I can't post the direct link. Search for GSFlipClockWallpaper by Sergey Golovanov

I've been using BeWeather Pro for a while and like it the best. Here are some of the features I like:
1. Compatible with Beautiful Widget clock skins.
2. Has three different radar choices, plus visible and IR sattelite.
3. Can have multiple locations, and with pro version, can select nearby personal weather stations from WxUnderground.
I have a PWS at my house, which is why I originally bought BW Pro, but it really is a nice widget.
Edit: wait - are you looking for a widget that also has a radar service, or are you trying to find an actual radar widget that shows radar all the time? I just re-read the op and seems I may have misunderstood the request.
That would be a pretty cool widget. Could be a data hog, but if it had some kind of refresh toggle built in, that would definitely be a useful utility.

I already use Be Weather Pro.
I'm interested in a weather widget with a radar so I can setup a geeky weather screen on my device. This way I can see multiple things on one screen without opening the 3 or 4 apps that have different details I enjoy in relation to weather. I think I'll just use a high tech radar such as radar scope or pykl3 and open up the radar when it's needed.
Edit : something like this, although this radar sucks.

I have been using PYKL3 Radar for a couple of months. Similar to radarscope, but seems to have more features. It has been very accurate for me. It can use allisonhouse or caprock weather as an alternative radar provider. I work on a golf course, so weather always gets my attention. PYKL3 is my go to app for radar.
Radarscope does not require a subscription, just a one time purchase. I've used both Pykl and Radarscope and IMO I prefer Radarscope. Its pretty straight forward and it uses either NOAA or iMapWeather for radar data.

For some reason I remember it appeared in the widgets on the Note 4 even with Nova. But, you can't on the Note 5. However, you can use a 3rd party widget application (like Zooper) and install an S6 Weather widget (which is pretty much the same as the stock Note 5 weather widget). Or you could use UCCW or Zooper and create your own. I was going to do that, but I got lazy and bought one from the play store for $0.99 that works with Zooper Pro.
It you're looking for something similar and clean looking like the stock widget you could run a Brightweather and Timely Combination. Have App Overlay turned on and place Brightweather at the top and then Timely below it and stretch Brightweather over Timely to give make it look as if it's one widget and while keeping it clean.
This is how I had it set up for example. I hope this is a good alternative for you!

Xwidget is also a good alternative, although, I have never been able to get the stock weather app to work with Nova.
chronus widget added one that looks similar. need to download the Chronus GS6 weather icon pack too.
There is a way to do it. Technically, won't be the widget but it will be a zooper that looks just like it. You'll also have to add some transparent icons to open the app whenever you tap the widget. I'll find to how to and post it here
Here you go the zoomed widget that looks like the Samsung weather widget https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.designedly.zwskin.s6widgets
And this is what the widget looks like.

Had to post a link because when I try to attach an image using tapatalk the app is FC on me.

I actually used Xwidget and I got it to work. There are so many S6 Weather Widgets that are very similar. I tried several and they worked for me on the Note 5.

Do you mean on the Lock screen or the home screen?
you can get the weather widget on the lock screen when Nova is your default launcher. -
All you have to do is setup weather in your touchwiz launcher - once you have a location assigned in the stock home screen weather widget in Touchwiz launcher - the weather will be added to the lock screen regardless of whether you use Touchwiz or Nova - but you have to turn it on in Touchwiz to get it to work on the lock screen after Nova is set as your default launcher.
I also just tried to add "weather widget" on my Nova Home Screen and it works too - I dont know if adding it in Nova will automatically inlcude it on the lock screen or not - but I know if you follow the instructions above, it does work.
Hope that helps.

I understand now -
personally, I use Beautiful WIdgets for the home screen - awesome widget - tons of different options - resizes nicely in Nova - sorry I misunderstood what you were looking for - but maybe beautiful widgets would work for you?
Good Luck

not sure - but I just tried to replicate the look of the stock widget with Beautiful widgets and I got pretty close to what you are looking for - just need to use the right layout and correct thrme - I threw this one together without trying to match the exact look - with a little searching, I am sure you could find a theme that is even closer to stock look -
regardless - good luck
