Search this Forum for GTGs ultimate unbrick. Your phone is likely hosed for some reason .
Just my 2ยข

I agree with omni. On my first attempt, something went wrong with the recovery load and unbrick got me off the Samsung screen.

Is it so hard to post in the correct sections

I try but it didn't work the odin never recognizes the phone ##

Wow. Really? Rooting is the very first thing I do when I purchase a new phone. I rotoed my infuse the evening of the day I purchased it and didn't look back. So many options... So many great devs. Try being a little more patient. It will only benefit you in the long run.

I tried to root my phone using this video on youtube: "How to root, install 3e recovery, and install custom ROM on Samsung Infuse"
I did everything correctly then when i booted up my phone it wouldnt boot, it just stays on the samsung screen. When i plug it up it just shoes an empty battery and doesnt do anything.
Ive tried doing gtg's ultimate unbrick, but odin3 wont recongnize my phone and i have the drivers installed.
Ive tried adams one click: but it keeps saying "disconnected" it doesnt say connect.
Any Suggestions???

Ok well it does not work on either computer. I rooted the dang phone so i had the drivers then..... when i try installing other infuse drivers ive had it says that they are already installed, where earlier i removed it by using the uninstaller. I am soo stuck.
make sure u have heimdall uckj4 downloaded to your pc
make sure you are in admin user
turn off your phone
get a decent usb cord
plug it into a different usb than what you have been using
put your phone into DL mode ( pull battery, press vol up and vol down, plug in usb and replace battery)
make sure you have updated to latest java
run the 1 click
it may show disconnected
install drivers using zadig - move thru the selections, find android usb
if you have install correct drivers, it should show connected
flash it
after it flashed the first time
flash it the second time with the bootloader box checked
if it works correctly, you should be on uckj4 stock att gb
if it doesn't work, you can always drive your car over the phone and ask for a replacement

look thru the options, there is an install drivers..make sure you pick the correct listed device...
zadig is different,,it doesn't require kies or any of the other drivers..it will install the usb drivers on only one of your port...save this port for future use with heimdall..

Skyrocket JB Help

Hi, I've been looking to root/change the rom on my Samsung Galaxy Skyrocket for a while, but everytime I come onto the dev forums here for a guide to do it, I seem to get stuck in a circle.
I tried ODIN, and all the troubleshooting, but it doesn't work for me.
I went to the ODIN-less methods, but it seems that I already need to have CMW....on there?
I am quite confused, so I downloaded the file linked here: http://d-h.st/40A (cwm6011touch_INSTALL.zip)
..Then i tried to 'apply update from sdcard' with that file from recovery mode in my phone...and i get: 'E: signature verification failed'.
My issue is that the documents are pretty confusing to me, they seem circular. The ones i've been looking at are:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1652398
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1773659
Can anyone explain what I have to do to be able to apply this(aokp jb) to my phone?

Odin is the only way. You have to Odin the recovery on to your phone.

Its weird because I don't think its a USB port issue. Windows recognizes it, but ODIN simply won't.

I used that, and yes, I ran ODIN as an admin, as well as have my phone in download mode while doing so.
what does the screen show when your in dl mode
if you didn't follow the troubleshooting guide in odin, theres no way we can help you, and yes you have to go through the whole troubleshooting procedure
if you thought my guides are hard to understand, then you are computer illiterate, stay away from jb and stick with stock until you do some further reading, allot more reading and understand what you are getting yourself into, read the last part of my sig, we dont want you to brick your phone as we do see newbs do that, we're not trying to be condescending, we're just telling you the way it is

The screen of what? The computer? Well, ODIN shows nothing, as in no change from when the phone wasn't in DL mode. And the screen of my phone says: ODIN MODE, blah blah....then it has the Android bot and DOWNLOAD MODE with a warning.
I did indeed go through the whole procedure, i said that. I also understand what i'm getting myself into; i've done stuff like this before. Yeah, i get the whole way it is thing...but you guys probably didn't even read what i said in the first post.
Listen. Its not the guides i don't understand, its how to get CWM onto my phone without using ODIN. They were circular, meaning when i had an issue, id get linked a post that led me to the post i was just at. I'm confused on what i need to do.
I'm not going to go into how NOT computer illiterate i am, I'm really just trying to figure out either how to get ODIN to recognize my phone, or get CWM on it without ODIN, which is what your guides don't have/i'm confused about. Writing me off isn't helping at all.

Gah...darn it. Okay...well I just downloaded Kies to check for the driver issues in a different way, but here's everything i've done in the troubleshooting guide:
If Odin Shows An md5 Error: Unzip The Firmware Tar File Again And/Or Redownload The File Again
If The Phone Boots Into Any Rom, Make Sure Windows Can Transfer From And To Internal And External Sdcards To Rule Out Driver Issues
Does Kies Recognize Your Phone, Even If You Are On A Custom Rom Kies Will Recognize Your Phone, This Rules Out Driver Issues
Make Sure You Are In Download Mode On Your Phone
Make Sure Adb Or Kies Is Not Runnung In The Background
Restart Computer
Make Sure Battery Is Charged
Try Different Usb Port, Preferably The Rear Ones On Computer
Use Original Samsung Usb Cable, Or Try Different Cable But Still Oem
Uninstall drivers and kies, unplug phone & reboot comp, then just reinstall the USB Drivers from here
Try A Different Computer
Clean Phones Usb Port W/no Battery Installed
If You Tried All Of Above Tests And Phone Is Not Recognized By Your Computer You Then Have A Hardware Problem With The Phones Usb Port, Repair.
not an issue: If Phone Boot Loops Or Enters Into Recovery Mode While Trying To Get Into Download Mode(and you are sure you followed above procedure and also did not touch the power button), You Could Have A Stuck Power Button. To Fix That Try To Repeatedly Keep Pushing The Power Button Hard To Try To Unstick It.
u just copied and pasted my ts guide, but i need to know specifics, when you are booted up into android os, does windows see both sdcards and you can transfer files to and from phone and comp

Yes, I can transfer from and to both phone and SD. What do you mean by when I'm booted into android? I usually try something on the ts guide, and then try Odin...then I boot my phone into dl mode. Whenever Im trying to see if the phone is being detected its in Android is. Otherwise I turn it off.
I dunno.. if you are doing everything in the troubleshooting guide.. it should work.
There is no hardware OR software reason from what you have described that would prevent it from working.
The only other thing I can think of is the Odin version...
Well somethings not right, either your on the first screen in DL mode the one with yellow triangle and then u hit the volume up button to get into the second screen for DL mode(Odin mode), did u follow the guide in getting into DL mode.
Make sure kies (anything with word kies) is not running in the background in windows.
does kies recognize your phone

I'm not an expert on this, but as far as I can see from the screenshot, the Re-Partition box isn't supposed to be checked. Try fixing that and flashing again.
If you get it working get rid if ROM manager. Oh and post this in the q&a thread instead.

Try that ! And don't forget to thank him ! Hold both buttons. Your gonna have to fix the drivers because heimdall uses different drivers than Odin so make sure yu fix that
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium
You may need to repartition with Odin or heimdall. But to do that you need the pit file and a package with all of the partitions. that includes param.lfs dbdata.rfs factoryfs.rfs cache.rfs modem.bin and zImage.
Heimdall might also insist you use the boot loader files as well.
What ever package you are using check what's inside with 7zip or something that can handle .tar files and make sure you have all the relevant images in there before you select repartition. If that's all good and it still fails get a new USB cable. And if that fails use heimdall. its not too hard to use.
Also note that this is not a development thread. This section is more for releasing or at minimum did ussi g the development of ROMs kernels or software. Its not for help me threads. This is a q/a type thread. I'm surprised the self appointed forum police haven't badgered you to ask a mod to move it already.

now my question...
1) how can i install a ROM
2) how can i install a kernel
if i sound noob i m sorry but i could find answers to my question anywhere..
Please help..
and moderators.. if I am again posting in the wrong section, I m sorry but im berserk at the moment so apology in advance....
In the second post of the qkster's heimdall unbrick you will find entropys dd kernel also packed in a heimdall one-click. Flash it and wipe data, cache & dalvik from your new red cwm.
If phone still doesn't boot, repeat flashes with both one-clicks.

Red cwm does not allow connection of USB . Do this. Odin back to stock. Reboot and when phone is on stock, root your phone flash cwm download ROM then boot in recovery then flash. What file specifically are you using to Odin?

Just to say it again for anyone else that reads this thread..
DONT USE ROM MANAGER!!
Almost every issue I have ever had (one was me missing a step) could be traced back to RM..

Gee so I should rush out and download ROM MANAGER?

[Q] Can we go back to stock ROM without using ODIN?

My phone
MODEL: SGH-T959V
OS:2.3.7 , CM 7
When i plug in my phone to the USB jack , the computer doesnt recognize it. i tried installing drivers . there was no Help.
I wanted to go back to the stock rom.
I wanted to know whether there is a method to go back to stock ROM without using ODIN (Without using PC, without plugging the phone to PC)
PLEASE HELP
Search if there is a stock cwm flashable rom in your phone forum section...If there is one , download it to your sd card and then flash it in cwm..
Search and learn all that stuff..

Right, if you scroll half-way down the OP of that thread, you'll see:

That is the stock one click. Don't confuse that with the One-Clicks in the second post, which are rooted oneclicks.
EDIT: don't forget to read the instructions like 200 times first. Make sure you totally understand what each step is and that you follow them.
Well, had I read the OP...

Do you even get the option for mass-storage when cm7 is booted up?

Heimdall will use the same methods as ODIN, just a different application.
Try a different usb cable. Try a different computer. try and track all permutations of combinations of cables and computers. Make sure you don't use FrontPanel usb connectors.
EDIT: to answer the question in the title of the OP, No. You cannot flash bootloaders without being in download mode, which you need to go back to "total stock" (say for a return).
Also you can try uninstalling the drivers and re-installing them..
I have had to do this before..
Sometimes the computer doesn't
want to recognize the device..
I don't know why but it happens.

This may be another case of broken usb connector on the phone itself. I've had to repair mine before and I recently sent back 2 phones that T-Mobile sent me as replacements both with broken usb connectors. The last thing to go is charging. Usually what happened to me was it won't talk to my computer or sometimes when I plugged it in to the charger when it was turned off it would randomly go into download mode.
