Can anyone please tell me if there are supposed to be void stickers covering certain screw holes on the back of this phone?
I have to send mine in for warranty repair, but I can't find any.
I can't find any. I think there might be colored glue holding in certain screws though.
there is a void sticker on one of my screws, I tried to take a picture, but the only other camera I have sucks, and it is too blurry to see. but it is the screw on the bottom left, the second closest one to the sim card.
Lol can't believe I missed that!
Edit:
Actually, since this one's already been in for repair, here's where they punched the pre-existing one and then put a new one on a different screw.
Thanks for the replies guys. Checked my phone out and it has one too, right next to the sim card slot. Looks like HTC punches the old sticker when you send it in and puts a new one in a different spot when they send it back.

Has anyone's void warranty sticker ever fallen off of their HTC phone?
HTC is telling me that they can't repair my phone under warranty because some sticker is not on the phone. I never opened it nor sent it in for repair! They want to charge me $145.50 for a free repair under warranty! Anyone have a good defense for this?
That is realy bad:
These stickers have been made to break in case of removal.
It hadn't been there in the first place AND passed QC, the odds are slim that HTC will believe this.
Not that I am saying that you are lying, just that HTC doesn't believe that it could happen.
IMHO there is nothing you can do if you got a phone without void sticker and HTC denies you your warranty.
Best of luck!

Ya, I'm not sure if it wasn't put on from the factory or if it fell off with my obsessive usage. lol
basically its a sticker that goes over a srew, to open the case you have to remove the sticker or damage the sticker.....
if it was water damage you can fix that lol
They say I need to replace the flexboard. Anyone have any suggestions?
The doesn't respond and the earpiece doesn't work.
I dont really want to pay $145 for a phone im going to use for 9 more months...
I doubt you can replace a flexboard by yourself if you hadn't had any experience with these things.
you can go over to your device's specific section in the forum and look it up.. see if there's any info on this. hope you find something

Depending on the device the flexboard could be bought for relatively cheap, and with the help of the service manual you could assemble it yourself (if you have some degree of mechanical insight and know how to hold some basic tools).
Just keep track of all the screws and be gentile with the device..
void sticker
does anyone know of any place i can purchase one of the screw cover void stickers?
In search of Void stickers
I got my phone a couple of weeks after it came out. Then shortly after I rooted it and installed a custom rom. Everything was fine until about a month or so later when I noticed dust gathering at the bottom left corner of the screen. So I figureed I can disassemble it and when I was half way pulling it apart, I realized its too risky! Needless to say I removed the Void sticker...guess my only option is to find a sticker and un-root the phone so I can send it for repair. Any one know where I can get my hands on this tiny little things? Any help is much appreciated!
I had chip on my bottom cover and replaced it for $12. The repair part is real easy though i got a cut lol. One thing i forgot to put in was the dock connector from the previous cover to new one so now i have a n1 with 4 holes rather than 1. And u dont have to void ur warranty for replacing as u dont have to remove and void sticker
here are the links to the things i bought, seems oem and really high grade

Were you able to take any pictures of the process? Also, where did you get the actual part? I've been contemplating buying a spare bottom rubber thing and battery back, as they are really the most likely places to get scratched. Oh, and congrats on succeeding!
No pictures of the process but u have to open 2 clips one at center n one at right n pull. Assembly is real easy but I forgot to put in dock connectors. They have to removed from previous cover. In the process destroyed a plastic clip opener, older bottom n also cut my finger. No damage to phone though
I'm going to attempt this soon. I ordered the bottom cover from here. They have another bottom cover "with small accessories on their site but I'm not sure what these "accessories" are so I ordered the tools from here.
From my reading, removing the bottom cover can be quite a challenging task.
I also have a new battery cover which I received free from HTC when I called them a few months ago to report it had been scratched. They said they would send me both parts (battery cover and bottom cover) but there was only the one piece. When I called back, they said I would need to send in my phone to have the bottom cover replaced and there would, of course, be a charge.
Finally got the bottom cover in the mail.. it looks as good as the original.
I successfully removed the old one with some precision screwdrivers since my iPod tools haven't come in yet and I couldn't wait. Once I got one of the corner tabs lifted, the cover came right off. Installing the new one was extremely easy.
I wasn't going to replace the battery cover with the new one I had received from HTC but the battery cover had a reddish tint to it so it didn't really match the new bottom cover which is gray. Installed the new one and the phone looks brand spanking new.
did u put in the dock connectors?

They were part of the replacement cover and they're spring-loaded contacts so there was nothing to worry about.
I'm in the process of attempting this

Well im having rogers ship me a new phone (i only got the phone last friday, so not even a week yet) because the phone is unable to detect any sim cards. I dont know what the exact cause of the problem is but im pretty sure it has something to do with me opening the back case and pressing it back in too hard. Or maybe i short circuited the metal of the sim card holder some how when i was doing rom reboots
In all honesty, the design of the back panel is completely stupid and really cheap. The plastic is super flimsy and garbage. Plus the way you have to snap it back into the phone requires some pressure that could easily damage the phone.
Just be careful when you guys are touching around that simcard metal area. Any static electric shock could potentially cause you to end up with a expensive brick.
Ummm why do you need to put pressure on the middle area of the phone?
Whenever I place the back cover back on, I just start from the bottom of the phone and make sure that its in and then go around the phone clockwise and clip in the rest of the phone edges and thats it. Never have to touch the centre of the phone.

This is what I also do when I need to put the cover back on.
I didn't press the middle when I was putting back the rear panel but I think I might have touched that metal sim bracket and maybe that's what caused it to short circuit.
Just becarful when handling with no rear panel. Also while charging the phone and trying to get a gps lock, the area behind and around the simcard gets really hot. My stats widget says 53c and that also might have caused this weird short circuit... I I don't know
You're doing it wrong.
Post deleted, wrong thread.

Static shock is a potential problem with any electronic device.
I don't think the cover had anything to do with it.
Mine is on and off all the time, 5-10 times a day at times when I'm testing different things. Never had a problem like this.
Actually the back is pretty durable for the amount of times I've torn it off in a hissy fit...plus I love the texture. I'm always afraid I'm going to snap it in half but it can take alot of bending. It's amazingly flexible for plastic. But you never press the middle...slide your finger along the sides only till it all snaps in.
+1 for that. I slide my fingers on the sides to push it in

No offense but why is this not locked? How can you brick your phone cause you take the back off the WRONG way?

I wouldn't call what he did "bricking". Bricking is usually caused by an upgrade gone wrong. He supposedly did damage to his hardware by pushing on the center too hard....and it's worth knowing about.

The back panel is seriously the only thing I dislike about this phone -_-
Why did it have to downgrade from the Captivates nice hard back panel!
in retrospect i think i might have bricked the phone by doing a bad flash instead of it being a physical problem. Im pretty sure somewhere along the way i must have deleted the EFS files when i was trying to get rid of the root and restoring it back to original firmware. I did some research and the problems im having with the no carrier/no imei/ is related to EFS being deleted.
I just dont know how to get it back now.
Also if i send the phone in for warranty and they find out that the EFS is deleted, would they consider that my fault? Luckily the replacement phone i got torched itself (screen burnt out in like 1 hour) so they are replacing that for the galaxy S II but i still have to send the original one back.
you obviously did something wrong. I've had some crazy electronics hooked up to my SIM and other parts of my device. I keep wires soldered onto the mainboard which lead out of the device for direct communication with the processor. I have never run into a single problem.
You did something stupid with your sim card. It does not damage easily even when you're playing with the ciruits all the time. I know this because I do play with the circuits all the time.

Maybe to save some money, and to reduce phone weight.
I dropped my S3 a couple of weeks ago and got a hairline crack in the top glass. Although I probably could have lived with it, I decided to send it to Samsung to get it fixed to the tune of $178US (their standard display replacement cost). I got the phone back yesterday and have to say that QC at Samsung's repair dept leaves a lot to be desired.
First thing I noticed is that the sticker on the inside of the phone that has the IMEI must have been removed and re-applied. The sticker wasn't flat along the edges and had a bunch of air bubbles under the middle. While I understand the need to have the same IMEI #, I was really surprised that they wouldn't print a new one to stick on the phone.
When putting the phone back together, I noticed that the back cover would not fit flush to the rest of the phone. Upon further inspection this is due to the fact that a plastic cover on the bottom of the phone was not screwed all of the way down because a tab on that plastic cover was not fit properly into the middle plastic cover. I was able to fix this by loosening the screws along the bottom half of the phone, pushing the bottom plastic cover in to properly fit it and re-tightening the screws.
Finally when I turned the phone on, the language was set to Vietnamese. I had to fumble through the settings to change the language to English. While I understood that they were going to reset the phone, why would they set the default language to anything other than English?
While the screen was fixed, I'm somewhat surprised that there were so many other issues with the phone. I'm definitely not happy since I paid for the repairs.
Anybody else have a bad experience with Samsung repairs?
Their repair center is probably in Vietnam, or maybe you even got a refurbished model and they just slapped your imei sticker on it. I think your just nitpicking this one, besides the sticker, it was a simple correction on your part.

I think he has a right to be upset and I would call them to complain. If you send a device in for repair, after they fix everything on the device it should be sent back in the same condition or better. I would not want to be messing around with screws on my phone and wouldn't want stickers removed and replaced like crap. Who knows what else they f'd up inside the device.

I agree I would definitely call and complain. They may give you something for it or help you out in some way but companies need to know that the job isn't being done correctly

ok my mistake, he can send it back to them and be without a phone again if he likes. Yes there shouldn't be issues.
just got mine back i had a broken screen as well. the only thing ive noticed is that my signal is very poor it was not like this before.

Glad you like to get taken advantage of and settle for poor work when you are paying good money for something.
It is because people settle like yourself that the can get away with this.

Or, one could just fix the reassembly issues themselves (if feasible) and ensure their feedback on rebuild quality issues are received by Support in a clear fashion - that won't let anyone "get away with" it.
I've found that good feedback can make a decent impression and sometimes gets a person's butt kicked to attempt doing their job a bit more in line with expectations. I don't like to be unfair, but feel feedback on specific quality control issues are certainly fair.

So on my Nexus 5, the backlight started going off randomly... tapping phone would bring it back..
Then eventually it went out and i had to bend/flex the phone and it would keep working a while..
I contacted support then, but one time i bent it a little to get it on and the frame (plastic outer edge cracked), doh.. Now, of course, they will not give me a warranty repair because the device is physically damaged. So i tried a new screen, no dice. Now i have two good screens and a phone that still wont work unless i bend the crap out of it. Anyone else see this problem? Worth trying to replace motherboard? or should i just sell parts (new screen i bought, old screen, battery, etc) and buy a whole new phone... There is one specific point where i can bend it and backlight comes on, but i cant find a short or loose connection anywhere. I have had the thing COMPLETELY apart and back together multiple times. I should mention, it works totally fine when backlight is off, just no backlight so i can only see it in super bright direct illumination.
Any ideas???
Take it to a mobile phone repair shop.

Fixed for now! Woohoo! Based on the position of where i had to flex it, i tried a little gap filler... a folded piece of paper, between the SIM slot and the back frame. With everything screwed back together, it just puts a little pressure on that area of the main board.
Now the only problem is the screen i bought is defective (lines all up and down it) so now i have to disassemble again to put the old one back in.... oh joy, now to return it through ebay... I'm sure that will work well. Either way, phone working again! FYI, this phone is REALLLY easy to take apart and put back together.
EDIT: F.. snapped the end off one of the little antenna cables (the black one, on the right when looking at the uncovered back of the phone) when redoing the screen. Anyone know what that is for? WiFi and cell data signals seem ok.. Looks like a diversity antenna for something, because of all the others at the tope. Maybe google will have an answer.

Check Bluetooth/try calling/using data just to be sure.
Do not discuss something on how to make fool of insurance company or even an warranty, It's not allowed here. Thanks
