Go Locker is pretty good, it has tons of themes and it's really smooth.

Ya that's one I've used too. But the apps never start at boot. I mean like a replacement via root... thanks for the reply though!

You could also try UOT kitchen (ultimate online theme kitchen). You just select what options you want and they create a flashable zip.

Every time you reboot the phone, the default lock screen will ALWAYS start first. Once you unlock right after a reboot the next time you use the unlock screen it will be the lock replacement.
The ONLY way to change this is use an AOSP ROM, and right now both lfaber06 and I are working toward this, but this is not something that will come overnight, most likely in a month or so, you will start to see some great AOSP ROMs from us. I am close with CM7, but having some odd issues that I am working on, and the default will be go locker and go launcher, not the stock stuff... You will have a choice to use ADW, but only on the first use, after that you will have to use home switcher.
There really is not a way to "turn off" the stock launcher and lock screen permanently, you can freeze them, as I have, but as you said on first launch after a reboot you will ALWAYS get the default stock lock screen.

I would not advise this, it can have serious unwanted consequences, with stock launchers and lock screens.

Thanks Jim. Well you and lfaber are the go to guys with this stuff! So ill just wait for something. What is the difference from a aosp rom and lfabers supercharged rom?

AOSP stands for - Android Open Source Project
It is as basic as it gets, there is no blur, no sense, no touchwiz, etc... and it is only basic open source stuff, they usually do not even include things like google maps and gmail, you have to install those separately on an AOSP ROM, but for my version of CM7 I am not going to make people install that as a separate zip.... just to make it easier.
Examples of these type of ROMS are cyanogenmod, Modaco's ROMs, etc.

It is ok, for themes and similar, but if you are changing functionality of the stock launcher or locker, it can be a bad experience. Otherwise it works well, but as always YMMV, and be careful, but hey at least we have the fxz now.

Ya thank the stars for that!

I know others have the same problem with this lockscreen which used to work fine in DCv1.0 .. I appreciate everyones hard work!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Same thing I did...and I would assume you didn't make a NAND backup...just like me. Only solution you have is to reflash...sucks. Grab titanium backup from the market. It will put most of your stuff back. Only messes up a few widgets for me, and taking the off and putting them back on is easy.
Good luck!

I wonder if the lockscreen layout is setup for a higher resolution device (HVGA) instead of the Hero (QVGA). If that's so, then you could theoretically replace the XML layout files related to the lockscreen from a ROM where the lockscreen is displaying correctly into this ROM.
-Daryel
have you tried pushing HtcLockscreen.apk back to /system/app and rebooting ? or if you go to one of the modded DC roms regawmod (sp?) there are several customizations including the espresso rosie which if they did it correctly should include the espresso lockscreen so you can just flash it and get the stock lockscreen back. as far as how to get the vanilla android lockscreen going I can help with that.

I have yet to use the lockscreen that everyone wants simply because a. I had no idea it existed and b. I have no idea how to get it. if someone figures this out I am all over it lol. Wish i knew how to help.
the stock android lockscreen will not display right on new sprint 2.1 roms this has been stated in many forums already there is no fix
Guys, just use Android Commander. It does all the ADB commands in a GUI. Useful stuff, it is. If you know where to push/pull stuff and know to backup things before you delete them, you should really only need Nandroid to save you from being unable to boot (stuck on HTC screen, not bootloop).

I will do whatever i can to help!

I'm interested in this as well. I haven't messed with Android too much but I develop for a living. Does anyone know if the stock 2.1 lock screen is controlled at the source code level or via a configuration file such as an xml? If someone could point me in the right direction, I'll see if I could come up with a solution...
I am living with my deformed lock screen untill someone has a fix.. i hate that htc lock screen.

Its there by default. Im sure you just tapped the home button on accident maybe being used to roms where its defaulted to sense. Mine is not defaulted intentionally because i switch back and fourth frequently. Just tap home and select sense. The other one has different options. Its a launcher2 variation called adw launcher. If you have any further problems just pm and we'll get you going.

When you wipe go to options and fix uid mismatches, wipe data and dalvic as well. I flashed this rom 23 times yesturday after complete wipe and worked EVERY SINGLE TIME. I can GURANTEE its not the rom itself, unless you got a bad dl. Did you download directly to phone? DL it again and reflash and it should work just fine. Can someone tell me how to get the facebook pictures to come down in the contacts. When I click link to facebook, none of my contacts show up. I'm logged into it because friendstream is up and running.
I finally got some time today and loaded this bad boy up. I'm getting an error when I go to finalize my exchange account..."Failed to set up account. Please try again later". I've verified all info is correct. Any ideas???
Also....when the alarm goes off....there's no way to send it to snooze or turn it off. The ROM is awesome....looks good and runs great. The alarm and exchange are 2 things I definitely need though....thanks for your hard work.

I have no use for an exchange account either, You tried later correct? and if so was the issue resolved? I may have to set up an exchange account as well to check it out.
The alarm issue can be resolved. IT happens because i rm the lockscreen to use vanilla lock, and the alarm clock is inside it. Ill get a fix and pm you the link.

[Request] Froyo HTC_IME APK

I've been searching all day, and I can't get a working copy of the Froyo HTC_IME APK.
Does anyone have it, or have the ability to rip it? I really wish I didn't have to request it here but I've exhausted all my attempts here to find it.
Help would be really appreciated. I'm currently running Damage Control 3.5 which didn't get official Froyo Sense keyboard. The mod does not have arrows, which is necessary for EVO users.
-EDIT: If anyone knows how to rip it from a ROM, that information can help as well, as long as it's not too difficult. I can have a friend attempt to do that.
Here you go.
Y'all check this out!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=654179
I dunno how many of you use HTC_IME_hiRes version but this is a pretty sweet kitchen that themes it up in almost any way you want!
Awesome! Thanks major to the creator, gIMpSTa. And thanks to jonasl for the mod.
Yea the kitchen is convenient. Only thing is the XDA HTC_IME mod doesn't have multitouch or arrows like the official HTC one which is what he wants.

Thanks. For some reason, however, it says "Application Not Installed". Any reasons as to why this is happening?
Again, I'm running DamageControl 3.5.
I did, while waiting for a reply, find a backup made by Titanium that includes the keyboard as system data. I could not run a restore for it though. It feels like I just will never get that keyboard back unless I flash a new ROM.
So, out of the options below, what's my best move?
1. Troubleshoot the installation error.
2. Troubleshoot Titanium
3. Flash a different ROM
This might seem like too much for a single keyboard, but you don't know how much I miss those arrows...

I wish I had my comp, and I'd just post the apk.
Anyways dude, the froyo keyboard is nice, so I could see why you want it. I've tried swype, and just plain deleted that gimpsta crap after like an hour (its nice for people who can't theme, but just ugly compared to a themes froyo).
To rip the apk, just download a stock Rom, open the zip, and it should be in system/app/. From there, u have to adb push it to the system/app/ folder of your own.phone.
Another alternative would be downloading a stock Rom n deleting literally everything in the zip minus the HTC_IME and flashing it.

Hey! I'm not really sure whats up with that. I am downloading DC right now to see whats inside. I made a new flashable. Maybe it will work. Before you flash it i would remove any extra keyboards you may have installed. Then also look in your /system/app/ folder and see if there are multiple copies of htc_ime.apk. there really should be only one. lastly, i would go to >settings>applications>manage>all>TouchInput>Clear defaults(dunno if you can do this) but maybe clear data. Then reboot recovery and flash this file. Maybe it wasnt working because it needed the clicker.apk as well.
Hope something works for ya. These files are from fresh so maybe that is why they don't work. ???
Has anyone figured out how to get this keyboard to work on cyanogen?
What exactly is the clicker?
I just ripped the APK from my Stock Froyo install for HTC_IME.apk, which should be the right keyboard. I have the clicker installed from that other HTC_IME Mod apk that's been around for a while, but that's not the multitouch version and doesn't have the arrow keys.
I'm going to see if the same hacks the guy who hacked the first one will work on this new APK. But I can't play around with it yet.
Check out APKtool to decompile the APK and look at the source for the other HTC_IME mod to kind of see what he did.
I too would like to use it in my CM install.
the clicker is what allows you to calibrate/recalibrate the touch input
Did anyone get the 2.2 keyboard running in AOSP roms yet?

OMFG ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Months... months i tell you i have been using android. hero then evo. And i just now realize you can use the volume keys as arrows thanks to you. I have learned how to theme, i have learned how to customize stock ota's into custom rom's for myself, i have learned how to compile kernels from source by dual booting into my linux build. I have learned so many things... and yet, just figured this out.... sometimes i wonder about myself and my sanity,.
on topic now, i think the touch input keyboard requires more than one apk to be installed, or an apk and a library.

the launcher does rotate when you open the screen though, which i like because it isnt buggy like a few other launchers.
fav improvements is that is feels way more stable.
jumping to diffrent applications is faster

Overdose is by far the smoothest rom I've tried for our sk4g. Not very many bugs if at all.
Always remember to do a full wipe regardless of what rom you're coming from before flashing. Otherwise the bugs you're experiencing could be entirely your own fault.

Hey I would also like to say that I think the 10 post thing is BS, I don't have a question I just want to post a comment, or I do have a question and NO it hasn't already been asked. Not really a huge deal. Just really annoying.
I agree with most of the previous posters here, on a couple of fronts. First off, the 10 post minimum to post in the Dev forums is a big pain in the backside.
Next up, GO is a great ROM. I'd been running a rooted and very slightly tweaked version of the stock SK4G ROM, and it was really annoying -- extremely slow, prone to freezing and FC'ing on multiple apps, the works. I tried installing GCv2 last month but could never manage to get it working -- had to ODIN the phone back to to original stock just to debrick it and get it boot up.
However I do have one specific question. Is there any way to retrieve the original sounds/ringtones (especially the notification ringtones) from the stock Sidekick 4G and add them to this? I like some of the new ringtones and sounds available with Glorious Overdrive, but would prefer to have at least a few of the original ones available as well.
Thanks in advance!
You can, just open the stock roms zip from a computer and look in the folders for sounds can't remember now, but maybe in media? Then put them on your SD card In a folder called ringtones or notifications and your current rom will see it.
Hi !
I don't want to be a pest or anything , but is it anyway you could post a tutorial on how to get this Rom. I tried to ODIN my phone to KJ2 , but it stuck me in the logo loop. Could you please help ?
Just curious but did you really need to odin back to kj2?
I just straight up flashed from kd1 and it flashes everything to kj2

The ODIN for KJ2 does not work, you can just flash over kd1 or kg2, there shouldn't be any issues.

Magisk Mod to enable AOD, and Change Accent Color

Hey folks i ported some features from aosp GSI's that will now work on our phone's stock rom. All you have to do is flash this mod in magisk and voila, you have working aod, and the ability to change your accent colors to whatever color you like. There are also some build prop edits i have been testing that indeed help your stock experience. Huge thanks to @aer0zer0 for wrapping this all up in a sweet package a la magisk mod. I was just gunna post it up and tell you all to copy it to here and copy it to there... He has the polish...thanks man! With average use using aod with the elite kernel only cut down my sot from 7hrs to about 4.. stock kernel was a little worse but not by much.
Few things...
Always make a backup first .
Yes, u must be rooted,
Lets not get silly here.
Yes, it works on straight stock.

@aer0zer0 updated the mod to fix the padding issue.. and cleaned up the prop edits, so one can see what each edit does.
Thank you so much for this, simply amazing! I've been anxiously waiting for a mod like this. This has made me fall in love with my PH-1 all over again! Great job! ?
Edit: And of course I'd like to thank @aer0zer0 for everything he's doing for the community!

You are welcome, and i have some more cool stuff coming as well in the coming weeks.. I was going to release it as a rom/port but the gsi is still too unstable. Here is what is coming next:
3 finger gesture screenshot mod
a better native dark theme for settings and eventually notifications too
Nav bar goodies
I had little success in activating some dormant features within the system UI, due to the recompilation not wanting to play well with pie, but i did find quite a few cool things that we will be able to utilize once i find an updated apk tool that actually works. I always can decompile it fine but the recompilation messes up.. i may just build us a modded stock rom from source as its much easier to cherry pick or modify the existing source then bust up apks and put em back together...

This sounds really cool...
Let me know if you need real testing and bug reports... I have a logcat app and am not afraid to use it...
EDIT: what do those build.prop mods do... Other than the DNS one
EDIT2: rather than building a whole ROM... You can always do a Cataclysm and just build the apps you wish to modify... He was notorious for a services.jar, framework-res.apk, and a settings.apk and could have 90% of the features of most source built ROMs
Your mod... At least when changing colors... Messes up stats bar icon padding...
It moves all icons a few pixels up in the stats bar...

Your welcome. Glad I can help out

Also, for those of you that want to permanently enable the system UI tuner. (Need root, but if your flashing magisk mods, you have root).
Get a terminal app, like material terminal. Copy and paste each command in and press enter.
adb shell su -c pm enable com.android.systemui/.tuner.TunerActivity
adb shell am start com.android.systemui/.tuner.TunerActivity
This will enable stock system tuner.
Enjoy

Double Tap to wake not working.

I've never tried to hide the clock. I turn seconds on though.
Can I ask what font do you have installed

I like the cataclysm idea..im just used to building roms. My shamu builds are still popular..on build prop, one improves the dark mode, one allows any pictures including use from google photos to be used as wallpaper without downloading. Another one enables fast reboot..drops a reboot from 28seconds or so to 14 i think...so half the time.. and one is scrolling fix...i forget what else..

None currently...
In order for DT2W to work... The panel would have to stay energized... Meaning rather heavy battery drain for standby...

Try hide clock, it only remains hidden for a little while... Does this on stock, with no mods.

Iirc...
Fast reboot has to do with power off...
My HTC Vivid had this... And in order to get to fastboot or recovery... As the device was shipped... You had to pull the battery... Otherwise when you powered the device on it immediately went to the desktop... Kinda like the power off standby in Windows...
This mod seems to disable my fingerprint sensor when it's enabled. It just won't let me open the lock screen with it, and it removes the entry from settings.
