Hey guys !
Okay so has anyone noticed that the ICS boot logo running on most ICS ROMs looks VERY washed out on out Nexus S's? Well I have. To make it truly nice the colours need to be deeper and more rich than they are right now... Does anybody agree with me? I feel like it's too bright at some points an overall a little faded.
So I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get an ICS boot logo with 'better' colour. If not, can somebody please make one ?
here is boot from galaxy nexus. i didnt make it i found it around the forums

Completely agree with you. I really don't like the look of the new boot animation so I usually run a custom one. Doesn't affect any performance aspects but it just looks cool
=\ I went to Verizon and turn off the Galaxy Nexus and turned on.... =\ the boot Animation Looks the Same as the ones on the ICS Nexus S... I was disappointed =\

If I use that the colours will still be washed out, won't they? I want a custom ICS boot animation with richer colours, not the washed out one

Lol thanks but I used ROM Manager and put it on already . Actually my battery life is freaking amazing and I always use my phone. I send about 500-600 texts per day, 30-60 min of gaming, 1-3 hours (usually 2) of internet, and 1-2 hours of music will get me by my day. (About 16-19 hours)
Nexus S - CyberGR Hybrid ICS (5), Matrix Kernel (15)
Here i edited the images darkened and made colors little more vibrant
imo looks much better
default nexus s and galaxy nexus bootanimation are way too bright and show too much color banding look horrid
edit
added flashable zip
Going to try it out... one second
Put it in there and nothing happened. Maybe the ROM Toolbox boot animation I installed is interfering? Or I don't know what I'm doing lol

No dude I'm using a different boot animation so if it changed from this one to the ICS one I would've noticed. If it didn't work for me it wouldn't work for you either then . He said the colors were better so would have noticed . I guess its just not working. Maybe make a flash able ZIP?

I'm going to try both!
Both are identical. And they get the job done . THANK YOU BOTH IT'S AMAZING! I will +1 you both when I'm off mobile! This needs to be put into the custom ROMs over the boot animation they use now... I recommend either one to anyone. This thread needs a bump
[SOLVED LIKE A BAWSE!]
Nexus S - CyberGR Hybrid ICS (5), Matrix Kernel (15)
Both of those are perfect, that is how the ics bootanimation should look imo, nice job demo
Try ROM toolbox.
there are a great number of boot animations, and very easy to flash new boot animations
Yeah but we wanted a better ICS boot animation. Which isn't on ROM Toolbox

I'm not sure if this was forgotten but users running the stock rom MUST install this patch to run properly.
The last comment in the thread was June 5th or so... and was kind of hard to find. I'm assuming no one uses it anymore, but still needs to be done for every factory reset done if running a stock rom.
Here is the link to the patch:
http://android.modaco.com/content/lg-optimus-2x-2x-modaco-com/338158/26-apr-g2x-pre-dexopt-patch/
It needs to be flashed from ClockWork Recovery, thus requires you root first and NVFlash a custom recovery.
Can we get a sticky?
agrred makes the phone smoother when scrolling boots up a little faster and overall is more speedier i think it takes it out of debug mode, correct me if im wrong, i also installed it over eaglesblood FROYO but it turns the time very dark in status bar, because the status bar on stock rom is white that is why it doesnt happen but that is nothing omarsalmin fixed that and made a zip containing the white time the way it should look in status bar.............here it is if u ever want to install it over eaglesblood FROYO roms that have the black status bar... http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=612208&d=1306848059
Good reminder. I keep it on my sd card just in case
this is for STOCK roms only any custom ones should not need this.
Do I have to wipe cache or something before flashing?

well...I put off the procrastinating...rooted...flashed recovery and flashed this patch. I read somewhere that the Quadrant scores increased after wards.....so I tested before and after....saw about a 100 point increase.
Don't know if anything is snappier....heck, at my age...its how much of a blur didn't I see. But after dropping the Sensation from consideration and just moving on with the G2x...its time to start grabbing some goodies....
@alodar1. Yea I think takes it out of debug mode LG effed up Paul O'Brien made the patch basically I think apps open better. I know for sure scrolling is better and startup is faster an overall smoother expierience....oh and it does nothing for quadrant u want high scores grab fauxs. Rom and kernel. And if u want EVERYTHING pretty much stable. Eaglesblood froyo 1.0.5 ......I love it.

I agree that it does helps but not very noticeable. The reason I want to keep it stock is for the gingerbread update.
I have tried all EBs, CM7, Faux ROM, Bionix, Ultimate and might be forgetting some other ROM, I keep coming back to stock, I think is the most beautiful looking and want to be ready for the Gingerbread update.
But if I had to flash a ROM would be EB 1.05, Great ROM.

Hey guys long time since I've been here since moved on to an iPhone 4 however played on a Desire S and am seriously tempted.
I was just wondering because my only quibble is Sense UI, I hate it!
I just prefer stock android.
Is there a way to get rid of Sense UI or possibly a ROM that is just Gingerbread on it's own no custom UI on the top that I could flash the phone with ?
Thanks in advance for any responses.
you can try ADW launcher or there is a CM7 port which has everything other than bluetooth working you can flash that

The construction of the phone and the screen, the size and just the device.
I just like it.
All Samsung phones are just plastic slabs, HTC seam to be the only quality phone maker at the moment.
Desire S with stock Gingerbread like the Nexus One or S would be perfect for me.
Just flash cm7 from the development section, that's essentially stock.

I've tried the current CM7 port and its certainly faster than stock and even faster than LBC.....I believe that they're still looking into improving the battery issues....but great progress is being made with the rom in a very short amount of time....so watch it ....
To think that Sense is the best overlay UI on any Android device not to mention Sense 3.0 that I have right now with Virtuous rom. Why hate it?
Or you could just flash TouchWiz UI on DesireS, though I haven't tried it.
I just want to know if it's possible to have a Desire S without Sense UI ?

Yeah pretty much I'm not too fussed for a 4" screen it's ok as long as the resolution is high enough.
But yeah the construction and feel of the phone is a real strong point for me.
Let me kick this off by saying I am not the most knowledgeable guy around here, and I don't have as much time to dedicate to working on ROMs as I would like, but I would like to share what I have been working on. This is just me sharing my own personal compilation/build. If you know me from the Inspire or Captivate, you might know what to expect.
This ROM is using playin4sheezy's BoneStocketeer as the base, mainly because my Beta1-6 builds had problems with no vibrate...didnt notice it because i dont use it, but it is what it is.
Features:
2.3.5 KJ7 from Rogers (bonestocketeer):
stripped, tweaked, pounded
14-toggle port by YoDerk
Stockish Kernel .1 by RomRacer
obviously no CIQ because of the KJ7 rogers base
ICS Animations
Extended Power menu
accurate battery/stock battery icon w/%
stock look
all homescreen icons/widgets removed for a clean install
language is set to American English
overall system tweaks and increased response
This rom has a very stock look to it, but is very quick. I am using stockish kernel due to too many SOD's with DaG kernel (if you dont normally have SOD issues with his kernel, go ahead and flash it)
I am not a flashy person when it comes to rom building, but i like it sleek and fast. Give it a try and see what you think. I am continuously working on my own build, but i will not release anything to you guys that i have not been thoroughly testing myself. this build has been over a week of me working on it as I found time to build/test.

overclocking is dependent on the kernel, not the rom. if you install Da_G's kernel, you can overclock.

the only reason Flash to Stock was needed on the captivate was because of their horrible RFS. they have done things properly and now use an ext4 filesystem, so its not needed. just wipe and flash

I have Nexus S i9020 and I have this bad problem..
It's started when I flashed AOSP ICS Brainmaster's Mix.. When I locked the phone, I had a strange yellow-green flash on the screen.. I tried flashing different kernels - no effect.. When I tried playing with Voodoo colors - no effect.. The only "semi-cure" was: if you return to "Stock gingerbread colors" that damn screenflash was seen only on the contour of clock and "that slide thing to unlock the screen" (don't know how to name it in english=))..
I thought that it was just the bug of the ROM then.. But when I flashed CM9 latest alpha everything remained the same.. I also thought that it was just a bug of the ROM..
But now I flashed ICS OTA after the downgrade to stock 2.3.6.. And the result is the same to switching to gingerbread colors in Voodoo app on AOSP old ICS ROMs.. I still have the screenflash on the contour on the lock and that "slidething"..
It's really annoying now as I'm starting to think that it is a hardware issue.. But all other functions work just perfect, not any single issue with the screen.. I haven't dropped my phone, haven't kicked it or something (bought it in June)
Can anybody help with this please?
P.S.: there were some similar threads here, but I haven't found the cure..
I tried playing with "Transition animation scale" and "Window animation scale" in Developer Options.. Setting window animation scale to 0.5x solves the problem.. But it turns off CRTscreen fadeout.. So there is something wrong with it on my phone.. I don't want to loose it, it's beautiful..
Any advice please?
I understand that I can only annoy with this question.. But still I don't know what to do! Please suggest any possible ideas, every piece of wisdom could help!
Now I've rooted official ICS, installed Nexus Beam 4.1.0 and flashed Glados 2.1 kernel.. And the green & yellow screenflash once again all over the screen when I lock the phone..
In every other possible way the screen behaves itself perfectly.. But when it turns off I see that damn flash..
Mine does it too
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Mine does it only when i wake the phone and put it back to sleep without unlocking it
Mine has the exact same problem. It doesn't happen in gingerbread but on ics roms, even stock, it does a flash. On stock its lighter and harder to see, but if I change voodoo settings it turns green. I doubt its hardware considering it works fine on gingerbread.

So we have not only one complaint.. Something must be done to cure it.. It's really annoying as it is the only thing that works not fine on this phone!

I've seen this discussed somewhere already, but can't recall where!? But to my knowledge, if I can remember correctly it can be corrected by resetting voodoo control settings back to 2.3.3 defaults! Something to do with gamma settings I think! But obviously you have to be rooted to have & use voodoo control!!
I've tried a couple of those settings, but it never totaly get rid of the problem, it's just less visible. But since I know it's there, i'll always be seeing it XD
I would like to know if there is anyway to change the splash screen before the boot animation? I've been looking for tutorials but all of them require fastboot and the g2x doesn't have that Please reply quickly
there is a way I haven't a clue though I miss that about my MyTouch 3g and G1, EB ICS build 3 had a different splash screen instead of the blue&purplish LG... I haven't a clue though!
It's all in the kernel. Trinity's kernel have a custom splash screen. I'm not sure which file you need to replace though. I wish it was as simple as HTC Phones. I'd love to have the Nexus One's splash screen on my G2x!
I really hope someone out there does... and is it just me or do you also have two splash screens one white lg and a second right after that is metal polished look and has the blue/purple lines

:/ Why cant it be as easy as every other phone!!
its in the kernel, and changing it requires having all the tools and setup needed to build an android kernel. (its not as easy as it looks)
if you want to kill a weekend and learn about how its done, i reccomend giving it a shot
i dont know the exact file, but if you message Morfic on his IRC channel im sure he would be more then happy to help you. (hes cool like that )
