I've installed multiple ROMs on my phone, including GB and ICS ones (currently using Sky ICS), but this problem seems to be pretty consistent among all of them. I use a custom default ringtone which is an MP3 file, but every once in a while the phone will revert back to the default ringtone, and it lists it on the screen as "Unknown ringtone." Has anyone else experienced this issue?
Yes.
Move the ringtone to /system/media/audio/ringtones.
Change extension from .mp3 to .ogg. maybe add a 2 to the name, before the ogg, so its easy to find since it will now show up twice.
change permission to the same as other ringtones.
Reboot. Pick ringtone. Fixed.

Original ringtone does not change
My friend, please help me out. I have a problem with my rooted Huawei mediapad s7-931u device. i dont know why whenever i use/ install hisuit driver, the ringtone of the device gets back to its original (irritating!) one. off course, the name of the ringtone in my device is the one I have chosen, but that does not ring and the original one is played. I have tried to not use hisuit but still when i install a new app or use Superuser app, the ringtone changes to its original one!!!
Please help me out! it's really going on my nerves now!
by the way, i forgot to make a ROM back up! oops. actually i tried but i couldnt. please tell me what to do.
Thanks a million.

After rooting my S3, I got a little over zealous uninstalling all the bloatware. As such, I mistakenly deleted the alarm clock (ya know, the one that works with S Voice). Does anyone have the apk for the stock touchwiz alarm clock? The only downloads I can find are modded versions ported for other phones.
Thanks in advance.
You should be able to download a stock rom and search the zip. Normally they are located in the \system\app directory. Make sure you match permissions with other system apps.

I downloaded "BeansStockR3.1". Since I am a new member, I can't post a direct link, but it was the only google result when searching for exactly that. Also, I PMed you a link directly to the ClockPackage.apk.

Do you mind PM'ing me a direct link to the ClockPackage.apk?! =D
I typically put all these apk's in a box or dropbox account. Comes in handy for sharing with friends n stuff.

Hi there, this is how i fixed my alarm problem
firstly download the clock apk relavent to your phone, i think that there are 3 different ones provided in this thread.
Secondly you need to download something from the play store called "Rom toolbox pro" its £3 but if you ask in the forums here someone can probably point you to a free one that does the same thing.
make sure your phone is rooted, install and run Rom toolbox pro. click on Root Browser, navigate to where you put the APK on your phone, copy and move it to root/system/app. Once you have moved the apk find it in the app folder, click and hold it for a couple of seconds. A menu should popup with options, click on "permissions" set them so they are like this. http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2pphiyo&s=6 If you are using a different app you will need to set your permissions accordingly, yet again im sure there is someone on here clever enough to help with that.
Now just restart your phone, the APK will run on boot.
These are the exact steps i followed and they worked for me. http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2h353dl&s=6
I hope you have the same luck
Steve
Don't forget to hit thanks
No need for this anymore. the new firmwares have the setting of disabling all sounds in the settings of the camera.
Try at own risk
Hi all.
this is my second creation / mod for removing the in app sounds of the camera. READ ON TO REMOVE ALL SOUNDS.
this is the stock camera app, without focus sound as i have muted those.... i have tested on my own (i have removed the shutter sound prior to this mod... so if that one is there, then change/delete the files as shown here:
how to remove shutter sound and other sounds not "in app"
Tested and working on ME2 deodexed... please tell me if it works on other firmwares
also working on MEA.
Not working on:
non deodexed roms - use at own risk.. tell me how it goes if you try...
installation guide:
open a file explorer and mount it as system writeable.
go to system/app and make a backup of SamsungCamera2.apk (just in case)
copy my SamsungCamera2.apk file to system/app
reboot and enjoy
Download here:
Download OLD versions
MEA Version
tell me how it works and if there are any errors i can only say that it works on mine so far
thank me if you like this mod
Changelog:
initial release:

Yeap, I'm on Omega 3.0 right now. The first thing I do with every rom is to delete the camera sounds.

good enough.... tell me if there are any problems... i have been using it for one day now and it is bugfree here... i do not use the panorama and stuff... but there were more sounds present than only the focus and focus error... i have muted them all so should be perfect.
Also on Omega 3.0 and working fine so far! :good:

Nice. I'd completed this mod myself when I got my s4 shortly after release, but never got around to testing it (did the same thing for my s2 back in the day). Got distracted trying to turn it into a vrtheme to make it compatible with 'all' version of camera (this way it replaces the resource files in apk and keeps that current version of camera installed). It's still just sitting in a couple of folders somewhere on my server....
(However, I think apk version means you should be able to push with adb without requiring root??)
I'm on a bell i9505 and it crashes on me after 3 seconds of use
Unfortunately I screwed up and my backup of my stock aPk was unsuccessful
Can someone please give me the stock aPk for the camera or tell me how I'd go about fixing my camera app

Couple of options...flash your rom again (extreme!) or just replace the modded apk with original apk. Some roms include updated camera software (not sure if there has been an update, but you never know) so best to get apk from the same rom version you are currently running
Also, need to make sure rom is deodexed (you could try deleting the associated odex file and see if crash stops)

I use Tasker to set the phone to vibrate or silent mode when the camera app is active. Works like a charm, and I don't have to mess with custom software. I wouldn't even have to be rooted, if I weren't already.

we all know that... it has been said before... this is just so you dont need to do anything afterwards
i got pissed by turning the volume off and on constantly... thats why i did this.. and i could have used a profile.. but i thought this was a permanent fix for use in other roms and such but thanks.

(this works in my head...) You use a vrtheme (flashable zip) that replaces the ogg files (resources) in the apk with silent ogg files (vrtheme usually replaces the image resources so that you can change the look of apps such as what you see HERE)

oh... i did it manually by decompiling.. well... i cant see why it would make it compatible with other roms..
an example.
i hate the clock and alarm app in samsung.. but love the sony one... i cant install it on my samsung... so i need to port it.. but the thing you said there.. would not do the trick... there must be something else, an identifier of the phone or something.
hi can anyone that has experience do me a mod for the power button extended menu all i want its off, restart, recovery, download mode and screenshot. as a flahsable zip... as i read the guide and could not find or the guy didnt especified how to do it.. i could not found the res, value ect.. in the framework-res.apk

Embryo has a recording button in the dialer right? If not MP3 Incall Recorder & Voice is a great and free recorder. Use the search button (in combination with proper english) and you will find what you are looking for. There are at least two threads with the powerbutton mod.

There are already two threads with mods for UCMC1 and at least one thread for RUXUMA7.
The powerbutton mod is available for download, do you understand?
As for the dialer recorder, I have no idea except that there is a guide somewhere.

But the trhead says to change RES/VALUE/XML. There is no value path. So i was stock but am already downloaded the one recorder from play store. So i guess ill use that... thanks..

I'm I the only one who likes ascending ringtones lol? I find it quite nice but hey that's just me
Thanks!
I was just thinking about how I dislike the ascending ringtones feature when I happened upon this thread. I know it seems/sounds stupid, but some of my custom ringtones and notifications lose their intended effect with the ascending feature. This solves that, so thank you both very much!
Thank you!
I really didn't like this ascending "feature"

I manually edited the file and, no, it didn't trigger Android Pay failure to validate. Actaully it is the only mod so far (with Systemless root and AdAway Ad blocking) that I was able to apply without triggering the Android pay failure.
