You can buy a charger for our battery off of somewhere like eBay, or you can just do the MacGyver method

You wake up in the morning, anxious to flash the cool new ROM you discovered last night only to find your raph has 10% battery left... how typical!
You know you need to wait about 2 hours to get at least 50% charge before you can flash away... NOT ANY MORE.
I couldn't find it anywhere in here but I found out you can start flashing over cable even with 10% battery, all you need is to enter bootloader (voldown+softreset) before you start the flashing utility
Or just flash from SD card.
It's also a lot faster, and maybe more safe too.
I wouldn't flash your phone if your battery is under 10% due to the 2 possibly 3 resets it will do during the flash, just to be on the safe side anyways.
Only opinion, do whatever you want with your phone =p

There are good reasons that it requires you to have a charged battery before flashing, as a general rule it's really not a great idea to flash at 10%. You can do it, but at least now you can't say nobody told you
Well considering I prefer flashing over cable (bootloader doesn't like my 8GB SDHC for some reason) the phone is powered and charging from USB during whole flashing process. If the power fails, so does flashing. Where's the problem?
Was really pissing me off to wait 30 minutes to charge from 35% to 50 and I never heard that flashing from bootloader doesn't check the battery level, even when I googled for a way to override it. This might actually help someone like me
Used this today when I had 30% battery. Works fine, and I don't see that if you have about 15% battery or more, that it's much risk seeing as you've got HardSPL and the phone can get power from USB anyway.

The phone doesn't charge while you're flashing, just so you know. More accurately, it doesn't charge in bootloader, so technically if you had some issues which got you stuck in bootloader you could run your battery down. That is the reason it is RECOMMENDED, not required that you have at least half your battery.
When I wake up in the morning my phone is at 100% because I take a couple seconds and plug it in on my night stand before I got to sleep been using WinMo phones too long now.. this is a habit to top it off daily
So i bought an extended battery bc of battery life worries. But over time, bc of roms and kernels now battery life has improved. Thinking about returning the extended battery since i havent used it in a few days now, would rather wait for 1800 size or somewhere in there that fits in stock back cover.
Question is though, if my battery dies how screwed am i?? Bc of when charging and off it boots in CWM recovery. My worry is that if my battery dies and i go to charge it will boot CWM and ill be in something that doesnt support battery charging and then ill need an external way to charge my battery some.
So far I haven't had any issues. My battery has died a couple of times completely. When I plug it in it boots to cwm and all I do is select restart phone (the first option) and then it boots up and starts charging. If you want to make sure, just try it yourself before you take the extended battery back.

Trying it now, just wanted to see if anyone knew first hand, that there battery was 100% dead and it can charge and still boot up to charge or while siting in recover it will charge or something.
It has been stated it still charges even though going into the recovery screen.
it'll be fine...it charges just like normal in recovery, recovery has literally not one single thing to do with the battery...
alright, tx for the info. on my moto droid battery wouldnt charge while in recovery. this being my first htc phone had me a tad worried lol.

Yea it charges in recovery but it doesn't "register" with the led or battery stats so its not a good thing to charge in recovery because you will get false reading when u boot up

Just my personal experience: only killed my phone dead once since rooting. I plugged it in and got nothing, not even recovery, until I did a battery pull, but once I put it back in it booted fine right to recovery. Not sure if I'm the exception but regardless I think you'll be fine.

Before saying anything read please
after each reflashing I did wipe battery stats, dalvik cache data everything.
Used mcgyver stuff to get my batt on again, as it was displayed in the first picture of the thread I did it and I managed to get a full sbf working but a ? sign appeared followed by a "invalid battery" It discharges no matter if I try to charge it by usb or by charger... Tried reflashing with mcgyver but the problem persisted.
Found this http://modmymobile.com/forums/3691471-post79.html
it was very usefull it actually charged my phone battery around to 60% (that is what it displayed) so I did a reflash with the phone battery and without using mcgyver stuff but guess what?! the problem was still there..
with the 60% I managed to install cm7 in case it would solve something but the ? sign was there, changed to % and it displayed 33% and when I connect it to charger or to usb it did as it was charging (remained in 33% but the bar was goind upwards) after a while it was still 33% it auto-rebooted and was 5% then I shut it down and Its dead again
any ideas? thank you If I'm not able to solve this going to start thinking of getting another android phone lol
Don't think it's a dev related question, but...
I think you damaged your battery trying to do mcgyver trick. Just buy another one.

I had nandroid restored of wanhu's rom from khalpowers.
it was working fine, suddenly this problem occured.
then i restored to rusmod, khalpowers but no change.
note that USB port is working i could connect memory card storage to pc well.
I took off the battery when it was at 40% last night.
and when i put it back in the morning it was dead.
connecting to charger shows big battery icon with "?".later on only the 4 leds up.
will have to check for new battery then only i can use rsdlite flash.
This has happened to me back in Feb. My theory is the phone gets confused about how charged the battery is and enforces some mechanism to protect the battery incorrectly. The way I got out of it is to start it charging and watch carefully to keep it from booting. Every time it starts to autoboot, yank the battery and put it back. Repeat this for a few hours. Then do the battery calibration proceedure. I eventually got a wall charger and an extra battery because I got sick of this game and flashing ROMs seems to make it happen often (I do a lot of flashing ).

Yes i connected it to wall charger, leds lit up.half an hour later phone booted.
the market battery app showed 5% battery but phone notified connect charger and went off.
what if it charged to full and phone behaves the same.then how battery calibration will be done.cannot delete the battery bin file then.
can we delete files using openrecovery?

when we get new rom published every week/fortnight we are supposed to do that.
but my flash count is negligible compared to you
Yes...I Followed Each And Everyone Solutions...Got a Brand New.. Battery ...and did all my wipes/dalvick cache/fix permissions and ran a nandroid backup. and restore the rom i was trying to flash. I Did all of that...Booted Up...Then all of a sudden i'm getting drains (battery), The new battery that i put in had 61% of life. So I plugged in my charger to my DINC 2 while it was on...and i've noticed that the battery was charging,,,but not charging increasingly but decreasing by increments. So I noticed This and i unplug The Charger from my Phone and I Powered down (off). I plugged the charger back to my phone...so i started to charge the phone while it was off. so about 30 minutes went by..i unplugged the charger from my phone, powered back up....i looked at the battery icon...and the battery life went from 61% to 50%...Is This Normal... Now I'm Back to square one...My Battery (NEW) is DEAD AGAIN....I Try To Charge It...All I'm Getting Is Orange Blinks Off And On....Can Someone Tell Me What's Going On,,,,Is Their a Fix For This...If Not...I might Have to Unroot and try to get me another Phone..I Dont Want To Do It...Right now I See No Hope...I've just Ordered 2 more 1500Mah Li-ion Batteries and a External Charger from ebay..It ll b Here Sometime This week...Can Someone Help or have any suggestions...Im Open to any responses...Thank You!!! Respond ASAP!!!!
