hi all i use a w8 and my battery life is just awful
sbout 1% every 30secs on use and 1% every 45 mins on standby ...it just sucks
- i use GDX rom
-rooted
-stock kernel
-use 360 launcher
thats it
my battery seems to be buggy cause sometimes it shows 64% and iwhen i restart it shows 67% ...any help?
I've read battery life has some to do with the rom and I just saw a post that says after flashing a from to wipe battery stats in recovery I'm looking that up now also I don't think a battery saving app would hurt I use juice defender but I'm a noob Im only telling you what I read so look into it to make sure

I use juice defender too. I found that it helps a lot - doesn't matter if it was rooted or not, battery life improved a lot with the app.
hmm kay i think i will try defender ..but srlsly i dun get why it drains so fast ..i tried with 3 other roms but with no good
Try these steps below.
Lower down your Brightness
Set your Phone to Power Saving Mode
Turn off your Wifi when your not using it.
Download Power Saver App: Easy Battery Saver + Task Killer.
ermmmy phone don't have power save mode...it;s a rather old model ..and i never NEVER on wifi , bluetooth , 3G ,data , sync etc ...and i put brightness to lowest ( to save battery since i am in a crisis )
ok so i install juice defender ...and something weird is going on ...my battery never moves ..which is goo and wird .it's stuck at 7f 2or a hour s i restarted and it's at 65% for 2 hrs now is this a bug or is my phoe's battery life is insane?
Ya i use juice defender on extream then just ad the apps i want data and wifi for then i use white killer a root app killer and it frees up half my ram from crapware now all i need to get is titanium pro to freeze my crap ware after doing this my optimus thrill trill has probly 3 times the battery life and if your fermilure with this modle it really sucks juice. Alot better now.

This post contains the news that wiping the battery stats has zero effect.
still...my battery life is SHIIII
You mentioned your phone is an older model; the issue might be that your battery is wearing out. After so many cycles of charges/discharges they lose capacity. You might want to look for a low cost replacement battery if the mods you're trying for your phone aren't helping.

i need to get better battery life out of my phone
i will take any suggestions that does better than this, especially if its running cog 4.

thank you for your informative response but i believe that peoples experiences may differ and im just looking for someone to chime in and say:
"hi. ive used perc 10.2 but im getting better battery life now that im using..." rom+kernel+modem
hope its not a bad question
maybe my gallery sensor battery usage shouldnt be as high as it is and i should change it with xxx.apk?
thanks
When I went from Percept10 to Cog4, my battery life about doubled. I didn't realize how bad it was until I got to Cog4. Now it is excellent.
Before it would go 7AM to 5PM and be drained.
Yesterday it went 7AM to 7PM and was at 70% when I threw it on the desk dock.
the answer is in your picutes, top right,
advanced task killers, antivirus, ect KILL THE BATTERY
I know I know task killers are supposed to help...
they dont, i was running a task killer and voltage control, had it to under clock with screen off, underclock default, stock speed under certain contitions and overclock when plugged in only. That had the system "running" slower and less power than stock only doing stock speeds when needed, and my battery was DEAD in 8 hours. Removed them and Im going 24 hours between charging. (battery swap).
and i just dont see the point of antivirus.
try removing them and see how your battery does. also the first month of the phone it will be all over the place....
I've run the following setups:
Cog 3.04 w/: Good battery life once I swapped in JK4 modem and Speedmod Kernel, still had random shutdown error, switched to Paragon.
Paragon 5.1: Again, JK4 and speedmod get me the best battery life so I made sure I had this set up. Ok battery life, phone screen would occasionally go black with no response until I removed and re-inserted the battery, switched to Firefly.
Firefly 2.1-2.3: Battery life is great (JK4 and speedmod by default), I usually get through the day with moderate use and 50% remaining. I'd say that's about 50% in 15 hours. It's fast and the GPS is much better than cog or paragon. I'll wait to see what the devs do with Firefly but I'm curious about cog 4 running on the KB1 Froyo. I also use CPU Tuner to eek out the most battery life when it starts running low.
@G35tr
thanks im gonna give it a try
@Trusselo
yeah, i definitely had 10.2 since the beginning (christmas?). i feel like the sensor gallery issue could be a culprit as well the the task manager and lookout programs but the battery stats info just doesnt reflect the latter.
on top of that its a reoriented i9000 kernel so i feel there are some inherent battery performance losses in that.
i got my phone pretty well customized at this point so it may be time to take that step in search of better battery and flash something new.
a farewell homage:
That not all that bad but seriously get rid of the taskiller and antivirus. Been using android for 3 years and never had a need for antivirus. Newer android versions don't need taskillers as they store unused apps in memory without cpu usage.
I am using torch 1.5 and did a full charge overnight and have been using it this morning for 20 mins with wifi and it is still at 100 percent. if you search around or download a few of the roms...there is a modded gallery.apk that fixes that battery drain. And im using whatever the torch 1.5 setup is didnt pay attention to kernel or modem but it is using the new official froyo.
Change modem file or try super power tht extend life of bettry.

Why not post in the stickied thread in q&a
Tried nearly every rom here and, in my experience, Cog 3.04 has given me the best battery life by far. Kept default kernel and modem.
My usage is generally as follows:
-2 hours playing music
-10-20 sms
-1-2 hours browsing on mixture of wifi and 3g
Battery drain is generally about 30-40% during the day. Very minimal batter drain when idle.
What did you use to show your battery history? the second screen print.
Thanks.
i get between 25-39 hours of battery life running SuperNova JS5, SpeedMod Kernel K13C, ZNKP1 Modem. I run my phone hard all day long and can't ever seem to get it to die.
when was the last time you cleared the battery stats?
1. Connect the phone to the charger with the phone powered on, and allow the phone to charge until it shows 100%
2. Disconnect the phone from the charger, and power it off.
3. Reconnect the phone to the charger with the phone powered off, and allow the phone to charge until the battery indicator shows 100% (you can use vol-up/vol-down to make the indicator come back up when the screen goes to sleep).
3a. Repeat step 1, 2, 3
4. Disconnect the phone from the charger and power it on.
5. Once the phone is powered completely on, power it off again and reconnect it to the charger until the battery indicator shows 100%.
6. Disconnect the phone, power it on, and use it.
7. Use ADB or a Terminal Emulator to run the following command:
Code:
su
rm /data/system/batterystats.bin
7a. Reboot into clock work Recovery, and choose advanced CWM features and select wipe battery stats
do that, then let it die completely before you charge it again.
Glad to see this thread because it has taught me a couple of things. I was one of those people who made the mistake of running Advanced Task Killer. Got rid of that. I also run AVG, but I think I will try to get rid of it and see if it helps me any. I am glad to hear several say that an antivirus is not necessary.
My wife is getting terrible battery life on her phone. She's not a heavy data user. She tries to dim screen, turn off wifi and GPS when not in use. But she can't even get 12 hours out of it. It always dies within a few hours. Ideas?
Was the battery conditioned when she first got the phone? Also, you may try a task killer. Id recommend Advanced Task Killer
You don't have to turn off GPS since it only uses it when an app needs it, such as navigation or foursquare. Have you tried putting the phone into 4g or 3g only mode? That saves a ton of battery since the phone isn't switching radios like crazy.
Turning off everything when you are not using it except for Voice & texting saves a LOT of the battery!!
There is a built-in widget called "Power Control" -- use it to turn off Wifi, BlueTooth, GPS, Sync.
Free app "Android Booster Lite" also allows turning off of Data
Free app "Quick Settings" also allows 3g and/or 2g Data to be turned on/off.
I use wifi and I use my phone heavily and I can usually get about 16-18 hours.
On the stock rom and kernal I was getting around 12 hours. Unplugged the charger at 8am and would last about half the day. After upgrading to the new Smooth Maximus ROM and Bali kernal, I'm getting about 30 hours now.
I use the app Battery Left Pro to keep track of stats. I'd highly recommend to get the new rom and kernal if you think the battery life sucks.

Ok, so i just picked up a NS i9020t and i get less than 3 hrs of battery life. i though this was rediculous. luckily my old samsung phone takes the same battery.
a few things. 2 nights ago, i had a fully charged battery put it in airplane mode, less than 3.5 hrs later it was at 32% left. wtf?
with a fresh reboot fresh battery, same day, from 7am-930am the battery was dead, that was with very little anything. a bit of web search, email check and 10 minute call.
so today i installed juice defender ultimate, put in a fully charged battery, set the phone to extreme defend. this is what i got, in about 3.5 hrs
display 32% (really, like checking my phone 10x for texts, checking a few emails)
cell standby 19%
android system 18%
phone idle 6%
browser 6%
voice 6% (one 1minute phone call)
Juice defender 4%
anyone have any idea what the heck is draining my battery???
i am using this rom
1ada25375426.signed-soju-ota-189904.1ada2537.zip (which i think is the latest) and my kernal is, 2.6.35.7-gf5f63ef [email protected]#1
baseband version
I9020xxkf1
aslo, ever since i have gotten the phone, wifi/bluetooth hasnt worked.
any help would be amazing..
also, i noticed while flashing a rom with full battery when the new rom loaded, i went to red battery bars. something really strange is happening to my phone right now..
j
hmmmm ... i hate to say this , are you battery for real ? i mean it is not a fake one ?
try check it if has 1450 - 1500 mAh capacity
be honest with you , i have no idea ... since i brought second battery , i do not longer worry about this ****
--------------------
flash kernel is same as you flash ROM via RECOVERY , but be careful with kernel's instruction , some kernel is only for some ROM such as stock , and some kernel is universal , compatible to all ROM
Try oxygen from, should be a software issue
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
they are both genuine batteries, it would be a very rare instance, i bought both phones used, one locally, one from the usa. same issue with both batteries, i shall try oxygen..
try a stable rom without any apps.
All of the above and also try undervolting, which saves energy for longer battery life. UV made the biggest difference in this department on my Nexus S.
General tips for saving battery on any ROM is to lower the Brightness(I know, duh)
Turn OFF Location services! All of them! GPS and also location using wifi...
Your phone is acting very weird, try flashing a light ROM, maybe it is so that your Battery Stats is screwed up, try re-calibrating your battery using this app -- Battery Calibration
Never mind Juice Defender and App Killing Apps...
Wifi/Bluetooth not working with stock? That's not right :|
Flash a new ROM, that's the best advice I can give you I guess...
I have an unlocked T-Mobile Sensation 4G and I've tried a lot of different rom (with Sense and AOSP, GB and ICS).
I had made battery calibration every rom change (Full charge -> wipe battery stats -> do some full discharge/charge circles in normal use).
Every time I have 50-100 mA battery drain in "sleep" according to Current Widget and another battery widget (tried another to commit that Current Widget tells truth).
The phone settings are maximum power-saving:
Fixed small brightness
2g only
Data and auto-sync are turned off
Wifi only if needed
CPU is downclocked to 1.2 gHz
Battery is stock. Phone is two months old.
In my regular usage (1 hours of calls, 10 min wifi) phone dies in 12 hours after full charge.
It is not my first android and I'm not a total noob. My Desire HD with one year old battery live 2 days with my usage.
Also I notice, that sometimes battery left is not accurate and changed after reboot to a bigger value. For example, 80% left -> reboot -> 82% left.
Any suggestion?
Thanks in advance!
Sorry for my poor English...
My suggestions:
1. Use system tuner or a similar app to check up on which apps are draining the most power (keeping the CPU on, etc).
2. If no culprit can be found, full wipe and reflash your ROM, and refrain from downloading any apps, see if that improves battery drain. If it does, slowly install more apps until the battery drain goes up again, and you'll know whats causing it.
3. If reflashing does not help batter life, you might want to try another ROM or kernel.
4. If none of those help, or even if they do, I highly recommend an ANKER battery, it'll at the very least boost your battery life a few more hours.
5. If the battery life still sucks, then it might be a hardware issue and you might want to get it exchanged or whatnot.
I used to have the same high battery drain problem, but after flashing new ROMS/Kernels and switching to an ANKER Battery, I now get 2 days of light/medium use out of my Sensation.
Currently using Insert Coin 4.5.0 with 1.5GHz overclock+undervolt if you're interested in trying.

How much does your battery actually drain overnight? Should be around 1% per hour or less if all is well. Disregard currentwidget in deep sleep mode as the Sensation has a very broken meter.

I'll check it this night.
With jumping battery meter I don't know if these values will be correct. But when the battery value reaches 0% the phone shuts down immediately and don't turn on. So 0% it counts well.
i think im also having the same issue . i checked current usage when in sleep mode.its between 50-80

12hrs with the standard battery is actually very good for a sense build, without sense it should go around 15 - if the battery is in good condition. The battery driver for the sensation is very buggy and you won't get accurate results with any measurement app. Don't worry about the standby or inuse readings as they will both be wrong.
If you're battery drains faster than 1% per hour in standby, assuming you are in a good signal area, then use a system info app to see which program isn't sleeping, then uninstall that program.
But it doesn't sound to me like you have a problem.
According to the log file it drains 1-2% in hour (now I'm using aosp build, MIUI). I think, new Anker battery is the only way. Thanks to all!
Maybe in the future we'll get a more accurate battery driver...
Of late, I have been having heavy drain of battery on my Atrix 2. I am running JB 4.1.2 (672.300.404.ME865.Retail.en.05). Trying to troubleshoot it (including recalibration) since the last few days without luck.
The symptoms...
- Sudden shut down - Have had 50%+ charge levels. Goes down to 5% and shuts down within minutes. (You can see the random drops in the charge levels in the pic)
- Completely drained out battery charges from above 40% when plugged in & charges to 100% in no time. (that 67% charge in the attachment is within 5 mimutes of power plug in)
Does the battery need a replacement?

How old is your Atrix 2? If over a year then battery surely begins to give lesser performance. Disable any other task killer / memory manager & just let OS do its thing. See if installing Media Scan disable from play helps & do not keep using random chargers, make use of original charger as received with phone. Finally see Better Battery Stats. It is said battery stats should never be wiped but see if it helps you and finally search for Apex's better battery life guide for many handy tips.
I disabled notifications, sync, froze higher wakelock apps & my battery life improved a bit but then it is no fun existing in a bare bones environment.

The phone is just about a year and half old. The drop in battery performance is just too drastic, sometimes it doesn't even last an hour after the charge. Will try to go back to original ROM and see if it improves else will probably have to go for a new battery pack.

I couldn't write to developer's forum so I'm asking here.
I've recently firmwared my AT&T A2 CM 10.1.3 and battery drains really fast! The previous build was CM 10.1 (25th of June). I wiped cache and dalvik cache and firmwared CM 10.1.3. At least 3 people report that thie batteries on this ROM drain slow.
What did I do wrong???

Battery life varies so much from user to user that it is impossible to answer your question without A LOT more information.
Go here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
Download the app and follow the directions in the op. That and reading through that thread itself should tell you everything you need to know about what is using up your battery.
That being said, everyone has different habits and expectations when it comes to their battery. What one person says is good battery life, another will likely say is bad. So just keep in mind that there is not a right or wrong, just what is right or wrong for you.
If I had a dollar for every time I said that, I'd be making money in a very weird way.
Thank you fro your answer. When I used previous version of CM the battery lasted 3 days with minimal using and turning the flight mode at night on.
As long as I installed newer version with JBX kernel the battery lasts 20 hrs max.
Power Tutor says that the most hungry apps are Android System and Kernel
