ics portrait perfomance please? :) - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I have the galaxy tab 10.1 and I have installed an early klang of cm9, whilst everything is smoother on ics than on honeycomb 3.2, it still has a lot to be desired in terms of smoothness (but of course its an alpha, so its expected). I just really wanted to ask about the smoothness on an official build of ics for the xoom compared to 3.2 please? Especially in portrait on the launcher, as on this early build of ics on the galaxy tab 10.1 in portrait is still horrendously laggy, how is it on your official ICS please?
I know I have a different tab, but as they have the exact same specs, I was just hoping for a little glimpse into what ICS will be like fully optimized please. (I've looked at loads of videos on you tube of the xoom running ICS, but it is really hard to judge smoothness on videos) I know these are properly stupid questions, but any help would be appreciated, thank you

New GTab Owner Seeking For Help.

Well i got my G Tab Yesterday and am using VEGAn-TAB GingerEdition STABLE RC1 and i had a question i have flash 10.2 already and it works fine with sites but when i use the youtube app for some reason it plays the videos abit choppy so i was wondering.
Does anybody know what could be causing the youtube app to play videos like that? any information would be appreciated it and well first time posting here since i finally got my tab and nice to meet you all.
The issue is that gingerbread has no hardware video decoding so some higher quality content is going to play choppy on any 2.3 based rom until we get some drivers from nvidia (if we ever do). So unfortunately if you plan to do a lot of video on your tab you may have to stick to the 2.2 roms until something gets figured out.

Honeycomb apps on Kindle Fire?

What was the determination on running Honeycomb apps on the Kindle Fire? I had read somewhere that they would not work because they were only compatible with HC but has anyone actually tried to see if they will run? I would be very curious to know if they work because the phone apps are a little awkward at times on the larger screen of the kindle.
If someone has apks for any HC apps and would be willing to post them I'd be more than happy to try them out and report back with what works and what doesn't, maybe get a dedicated compatibility list going until someone releases an ICS rom for kindle.
The Fire is running Gingerbread so any HC apps would refuse to install. If HC had been open source Amazon probably would have used it since it is more suited for tablets.
They will probably issue an update with ICS so tablet apps can be used, but since the Kindle runs such a heavily modified version of Android, it will be a while before we see an Amazon issued ICS update.
This would be so awesome I've been doing a lot of searching on this for the past hour. It seems the consistent answer is that we have to wait for ics.. :-!
We may see CM9 on this long before Amazon releases an update. They already have ICS booting on the Fire and it looks pretty stable, but there isn't much hardware support yet. Looks promising though:

what makes honeycomb apps special anyway ? i never used any tablet that runs honeycomb

Many of the apps are more tablet optimized to take advantage of the extra screen space provided. If you look up Gmail for honeycomb you can see what I mean.
Honeycomb Gmail actually kind of sucks on a 7" tablet. It's really made for the 10"ers, on a 7" it's just crammed like you're back on a 2.5" phone screen.

[Q] What is your favourite ROM?

Hi everyone,
What is your favourite ROM for your android mobile ??
w8 ur post
My favourite Room for my HD2 is the [07 Feb 2012] [CMR] Team Blue Droid V3.5 Sensation xl Gen3 EU & Tmobile SonyXloud. I'm only one problem. I can't connect with my own wifi, but Dansta34, it's on this problem, because another people have the same problem than me. The room it's simply SPECTACULAR, my phone works better than all the rooms i prove, and also my battery don't need a continous charge and i also charge my battery one time to day.
Quite a subjective question, but I've enjoyed CM7 on my Nook Color, Evo 4G and Hero (CDMA). It's been nice to share the platform/experience between devices.
Rom Rom Rom
My favourite Rom isnt a particular rom per say but i prefer the stripped back roms with the bare minimum done to them so that i can customise myself not really into the cyanogenmod thing where everything is done for you but i do see the appeal for some
CM7 for my G2x and Overcome for my Galaxy Tab.
For my HTC Sensation ExtremeSensation™Series|ICS|Blaze|Blitz5|Very FAST Stable , good battery, stable and everything is going smoothly for now
I really like AdyScorpiusMIUI v4 based on ICS but it's not stable enough for me yet. I'm currently on CheckROM RevoHD™ V4 and I like it because it's stable and highly customisable with Kitchen Pro and JKay settings.
See my Sig.
I miss the WM days when Chefs would release Lite/Standard/Full Fat versions of each ROM. It makes me wonder why that has never really happened with Android.
Answers on a postcard...
i really like for my samsung i9001 the Broodrom RC3 Revision 2, very fast, low ram usage and smooth, easy installable through odin, pc setup tool for 1°installation and Broodrom Configurator to easily set and change all system settings such installing tweaks, accellerators and much more, a must have for samsung Galaxy S Plus!!!1
BroodRom for 9001
Best rom I've used is the Valhalla rom for the Samsung Galaxy S 4G. It's just a single core old phone, but with this rom it is so fast and smooth. It feels much faster and more stable than any of these new ICS rom for the Nexus S. Ofcourse the hardware has limitation, but interface wise its faster than some dualphones I've used too. This is of course coupled with the phone having Wolfson DAC for excellent sound quality.

My favourite ROM and the one that actually works for all my phone features is NeroDroid v5 for Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro Sk17i. Everything else has many bugs and most other ROMs doesnt work with the Hardware keyboard. The only thing I hate from the NeroDroid ROM is the bootanimation for the CWM, I had to use a custom kernel.
My favorite right now is Cyanogenmod 7.1.0 on my Aria, but I have a feeling that one Cyangoenmod 9 can make it out of alpha beta, it will be my new favorite ROM. I am super impressed with the CM developers. If you have not checked out Cyanogenmod, I highly recommend it.
I liked the Android 4.0.3 CM9 ROM for the Kindle Fire. I really liked the way it ran versus the stock OS.

This guy has ported Miui ICS to I9100 Like a boss
i am using Razodroid on my Galaxy Fit, its pretty fast and stable...
I have had a few smartphones and used dozens of ROMs and I always go back to Cyanogenmod.
Very reliable, great power management. It's the best way to get the most out of your hardware.
I've got to agree, ICS on the Kindle Fire is very nice, especially now that the touch screen issues seem to be fixed. It is very smooth, compared to stock or even CM7.
the latest and the stable one,,ofcourse..

Codename-Android ROM on my Nexus S. I like it because it is simple, clean, fast and full tweaked ICS .

Google now export to more and ICS and jellybean

so Google Now is super amazing, but more importantly super fast. I just imported it onto my Stock ICS acer icona A500 tab it works, but has some major bugs. It makes searching everything and anything fast and so I wondered why wouldn't Google port this to more devices? not like gingerbread or froyo, no my real question is why isn't this on computers? built into a google chome extension or into chrome intself? I don't think it would be possible for XDA developers to do this (both because this is a mobile focused place and because it sounds extremely difficult) ,but! if they did it, would be priceless. So what what do you guys think?
(wow I screwed up the title it's suppost to be; than ICS and jellybean, not and ICS and jellybean)
I think of the reasons why it cannot be ported to other phones is that Google Now runs optimally in a Jelly Bean-based kernel. That's why even though the devs have ported it to ICS ROMs, it is still having some problems. And if the device is running anything before ICS, then forget about it. The difference in kernels is the main roadblock.
And who needs Google Now in a browser, when google glasses comes out?

[Q] Help with the laggy launchers

Hi all,
I'm having trouble finding a launcher that don't feel sluggish or lag for my SGR. I've tried almost every popluar launchers(LP, Go, ADW, Holo etc), and tried launchers recommended in this forum, but all of them feels sluggish.
I don't know what the heck is going on. I used to have a Galaxy Gio and my favourite launcher then was Nemus, but on SGR Nemus feels much more sluggish than my Gio(Gio is pretty low-end)! Is it because of the Nvidia chip that may not be supported well by these apps? I don't encounter any performance issue in games though.
I need some suggestions, I'm stick with the stock TouchWiz atm, I guess TW is not that bad after all, it feels real smooth, to say at the least
BTW I'm on a rooted stock GB with only CWM installed. Since I'm a huge CM fan back in the Gio days, I'm not planning to upgrad to ICS/JB unless there's a stable CM9/10 release.
Please stay on topic guys.
