I never get SOD when I'm near a computer so I can't run adb for troubleshooting. Is there an app or some other way to debug/troubleshoot the SOD as it happens without a computer connection?

Does anyone know why this happens? Whenever I turn USB debugging on, my comp cannot recognize the device...whenever it is off, 2 drives show up which is exactly as I intend to happen. However when it is off, nothing happens. Anyone have a solution to this?
What is your set-up?
it is probably due to a kernal problem, I have had problems with Setiron 1.4.2 so much that I had to use my xp machine to flash odin it was the only way it would connect. Drivers would not "install" on win 7.
Well i have XP, but this problem is weird cause people tell me that theirs isnt working when its off, but mine is backwards...
I'm having problems where wireless ADB is interfering with PDAnet USB tethering. I don't have a wireless ADB app downloaded, so turning this function off isn't as simple as going into some fancy User Interface, and disabling the feature. It is built into the ROM, apparently. Question is, how is it implemented, and how can I manually turn it off? I never have used the feature. I use PDAnet fairly often, but since installing this ROM, I haven't been able to maintain a steady connection due to wireless ADB initiating without my asking it to.
Anybody have any advice as to how to manually turn this off? Any system files I can edit?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
OK, I did a bit more digging around (Google searches), and found something from another site that looks potentially promising.
They advised that to set adb to use USB connection only to enter this command from terminal:
setprop service.adb.tcp.port -1
stop adbd
start adbd
I have done this, but have not yet had a chance to test it out. Can anyone familiar with wireless adb implementation confirm this command and its purpose?
Thanks again! Will report back once I get a chance to try it out.
EDIT: This doesn't seem to have made any difference. Still dropping my connection shortly after establishing it.

boostjunky,
i dont have the same phone as you, but thought i would throw out a few suggestions.
are you opposed to installing adb wireless and disabling it via the app? i got it as a free app from the market.
if so, can you use a root uninstaller and delete the functionality from your rom's system folder?

I wanted to strip a phone down to it's bare necessities so it would fit into a laptops spare hard drive slot to be used as an 3G modem (provider only allows phones to use unlimited plans).
If I remove the screen will it still function enough to be commanded via ADB?
The screen is just an output device, so you should still be able to give it commands remotely, similar to a rasberry pi, but how would you enable usb debugging and/or troubleshoot issues that may arise with the device?

Click to collapse
I'd enable debugging beforehand, the idea was to just toggle tether via ADB, nothing major so the only issue I could think of would be heat, but shouldn't be an issue hopefully.
Possible.

ive been using wifi tethering and taht works fine but i would rather use usb to save a bit of power. the thing is everytime i click usb tether windows sees the device and in network connections says identifying but windows its self locks up. it never moves from identifying and windows stays unusable with no actual data connection made no matter what i do. then the instant i click on the phone to turn of usb tethering windows snaps back to life.
otherwise the computer can normally see the phone fine for moving files on and off it so i dont think its a driver problem. i just dont know whats wrong, can any one help?
Hi all,
I apologise in advance if this has been answered somewhere here before, but I couldn't find anything on Google or using the forum search.
Background:
I usually have USB connection set to Media device (MTP) and this works for 99% of devices. The one thing that's causing me issues is the USB connection on a Hyundai i30. As soon as it is connected, it starts to scan for music to play. However after approx 5 seconds the connection drops, then it attempts to reconnect again. This causes the radio to toggle off in the car repeatedly each time it tries to reconnect and worse, ends up draining the battery on the N5 instead of charging it.
Current Workaround:
I've been able to avoid the issue by deselecting both MTP and PTP in the USB connection settings which allows the phone to charge properly.
TL/DR - Hoping for an easier way to change USB mode:
Does anyone know of any widget that exists that can toggle this from the homescreen? It's a pain to have to go all the way to USB connection each time I have to get in the car, then to remember to change it again next time I'm using anything else. Bootloader unlocked and rooted BTW.
