[Q] How to backup call logs and home-screen" with Titanium Backup? - General Questions and Answers

Dear all,
Like you, I've been flashing roms a lot. Some roms, however, require or need full wipe. With Titanium backup, I could easily restore app+data. It is even easier now when Titanium Backup can restore from Nandroid (tar format).
By searchin and reading around, I now know that backing up [SMS/MMS/APN] item means I could restore "SMS logs". What about "call logs" and other system settings, such as home screen layout.
I saw a [Contacts/Calls] Contact Storage item, I wonder if it is the one for call logs? I once backed up contacts (with another app) and then re-synced with Google, ending up with doubled contact list.

Searched, but haven't found particular info:
What particularry would I lose if I do wipe while updating from JF to Hayruko's 5.0.H ?
Contacts, soft, sms'?
And what are the ways of backing up?
Anything in your /data directory (that isn't saved in the 'cloud') is lost. Contacts are synced with GMail contact list. Apps you can backup in various ways, or you could just re-download them from the Market. Backing up SMS can be done with one of many apps.
Just make sure to do a Nandroid backup, that way if you want, you can go back to exactly what you had.

Migrating to new phone with Titanium Backup

I've currently got a rooted HTC Hero and using Titanium Backup. I'm now looking to move over to a Samsung Galaxy S and not completely sure how the restore will work. I'm pretty sure it will be straight forward for the 3rd party user apps but what happens with the system apps?
I'd like to have things like SMS, call logs data etc restored. But if I restore all system apps and data, will this restore system applications that weren't designed for SGS? I'm thinking of the things that might be specific to the HTC Hero e.g. Sense UI stuff.
Thanks
Try "SMS Backup & Restore" and "Call Logs Backup & Restore"

Is there a way to keep my text messages when I install another ROM?

I'm sick and tired of loosing my conversations whenever I want to flash a new ROM. I've heard there are ways around that, but I do not know any of them.
Try "SMS Backup & Restore" in the market. It allows you to save all your texts to your SD card and then reload them. And if you have any more questions, please direct them to the Q & A Section - this section is meant for development purposes.
Peace
I use Titanium Backup to backup my both messages and Handcent. When I restore those 2 things everything is back where I can use it for blackmail
I just wish dialer would back up too.

For dialer use Call Logs Backup & Restore, made by the same person who made the aforementioned SMS Backup & Restore.
Here is the SMS Backup/Restore - http://www.appbrain.com/app/sms-backup-restore/com.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore
Call Log Backup/Restore - http://www.appbrain.com/app/call-logs-backup-restore/com.riteshsahu.CallLogBackupRestore
I have not tried call log backup, but if it's anything like SMS, then it won't disappoint

not true. i used titanium only backup programs, it didnt save messages for me. i learned that the hard way and lost all my messages.

u should definately use titanium backup for this.
sms backup and restore is so slow if u have lots of messages as it restores 1 message at a time.
another vote for SMS Backup & Restore. I use this for my text, my apps are backed up with appbrain (and a few I keep handy with ASTRO backup), and everything else is synced in the land of google.
why not just NAND before flashing. It should save your conversations(sms)...then flash the old rom. It does like that for me.

...what? If you restore a Nandroid you lose all of your current settings/ROM.
SMS Backup+ is great as well.

I use SMS Backup to backup my txt messages to my gmail account. It seems development on this app has ended but a new developer has created an app called SMS Backup+ with the same funcationality as SMS Backup plus the ability to restore the backed up conversations to your phone (though I have not tried this). He is also working on adding the ability to back up your MMS as well.
A second option is to install the latest version of Handcent. One can now create a Handcent account (on their website for free) which allows users to back up their messages and all their Handcent settings.

What do you backup with Titanium?

What thing do you use Titanium Backup for? Tell me their whole names please so I can easily find them in the application. There are so many things I don't know what to backup. And I can't think of any and there might be so many useful stuff I've just missed. So please share what do you backup up with Titanium?
User apps and a few bits of system data like the Data Usage Allowance settings, Bluetooth Pairings.
The easy way to use Titanium is to click on Menú button, and there go to "Lotes" (sorry have it Spanish), which for me is the option top-right.
There you have the diferent quick options, one of them is to Copy your apps, and down you have the one to restore them
For me that's the menú! Just take care, ones you start copying things don't touch your screen, just leave the device do it's work... I don't know why but if I touch anything Titanium blocks and I have to kill the process to restart the copy (same with back up, not a big deal really, just let it do its job )
I backup my text history, app data, email account settings etc. Much easier to blaze through Titanium to be right where I left off before flashing.
I just use Titanium when I flash a new rom. I nandroid the previous ROM so I can have a complete backup in case the new ROM sucks. The cool part about TB is that it can restore from nandroid, so I kill two birds with one stone. As soon as I boot up the new ROM, I extract all the apps I want from nandroid with TB.
games. but im going to look into email account wifi passwords, that would be extra handy.

The Best Backup Option 2023

Hello, I've had the oneplus 8T for 2.5 years now. For a week now I have rooted it again, after 2 years ago. So I did a backup until today with the oneplus app. And I manually uploaded it to the cloud.
So I'm looking for an app that can backup apps, data, SMS, call logs, contacts, settings and the layout of folders on the phone's desktop. And of course the application can upload the backup to the cloud. To be able to have the scheduling option.
I did some research on my own and discovered the Following, but I need your help.
Swift Backup:
Backup apps, data, call logs, contacts, sms.
Stores the backup in the storage and in the cloud.
I also discovered Neobackup, Titanium Backup and Backup rom. Can you write me what are the differences between them? Because I haven't understood...
I read somewhere that Neobackup is the best but it does not backup call logs, sms, contacts. And it doesn't upload to the cloud either.
Note, the comments I read about swift, it was 2022. So I want answers with the latest versions of these apps.
Swift Backup is the best overall
kaskanderTWRP/OrangeFox backups whole device partitions (like /system or /data) with everything inside them.
By restoring this backup you can revert your whole device (android version and your data) to the state on the time of backup.
Apps like swift, titanium, neo backup, backup your apps and their settings, also you can try to backup system apps settings to restore layout of folders (lancher app settings backup).
Titanium backup was once a gold standard of android backup apps, but as it is not being developed since 2019, it can't handle split apks and doesn't work very well with the latest android versions. So it can still be used, but not recommended.
Swift backup works well with the latest android versions, you can choose to backup your apps and data locally or on google drive or something similar. If you backup your apps in the cloud you can easily access those backups from another phone and restore them.
Backup files are encrypted too and app is proprietary one.
Neo-backup, as far as i understool does everything as Swift backup, and is open sourced.
Alternative to Titanium Backup?
Hey everyone, I've been using Titanium backup for a few weeks now but one thing irks me about it.. even though it successfully backs up my apps and I assume my data - when it comes to restoring the backup, it always re-installs the apps in a...
