I just upgraded to MIUI 2.1.13 with ESP kernel. The option to reboot to clockwork recovery has totally disappeared. Suggestions?
Maybe there was a bug with it. To get into cwm all you have to do is power down your phone, hold the power button and volume down button until you see the recovery

Upgrade to 2.1.20 with someone who cooks in the 4 way reboot, or enter recovery the old-fashioned way.
The reboot from power option hasent ever worked for me on 2.1.13 i always just hold power and vol. Down just as fast for real imo of course

You might also try Optimus 2X recovery reboot found in the Market. I use it quite a bit.

Im running fly x rom with drop box red theme on my droid x, I can open rom manager and then boot into recovery, but I can't open the recovery from boot, if I hold power and volume down, it just boots fly x. Is there something im doing wrong? Is this something I should be concerned with? The rom is working fine so far, its been one day use and im afraid that down the road this could become a problem since I can't manually recover my device while running this rom

Do you mean stock recovery?
That's VOlume Down, Search & power at the same time isn't it?
That's the problem, I can't do that while running fly x final rom

Its home button and power.
Thanks for your help, holding down the home button didn't work, only the stock recovery opens, but holding ut with the volume down opened the clockwork recovery after it, I selected reboot system from stock, then clockwork opened after. Thanks alot, now I can rely on my fly x rom with no fear of the future.

My power button is kinda dead I can shut off the phone and turn it on but going through recovery is impossible. How can I still flash roms

Do you mean that in recovery it will not select items?

I use Fix Broken Pro widget to lock the screen and No Lock app to unlock using volume down button.
I go to recovery using adb or Rom Manager. Then use back, menu, search, home buttons to go back, Scroll Down, Select and Scroll Up respectively.
Yea I can't select options in recovery or it'll continuously select reboot bootloader and I can never get into recovery mode

I guess I need to learn to flash through adb

If you are using cwm recovery, you don't need power button. Touch buttons are enough.
In CWM, do you see a message that says back button has been disabled? Somehow last night this was happening to me but in my case I simply pulled the battery and rebooted and all was fine. If it's acting up in the bootloader though I would suspect you have a hardware issue.

When I hold volume up and the power button to boot into the bootloader I can't select reboot recovery it just keeps selecting reboot bootloader since my power button is messed up

Actually issue resolved thanks to rom manager

Hey guys, while trying to flash CM7, I forgot to wipe all data and my phone gets stuck on the booting screen. So when I try to get into recovery mode, it doesn't go to ClockWorkMod's Recovery, but the default one. The problem is that the power button does not work, so I cannot make any selections to wipe data or anything. Only the volume buttons work.
Please help, I'm a total noob and I just got this phone fixed after dropping it not too long ago!
It does work i freaked out on this as well. Go to your selection and hold the power button until it selects your selection
Its takes a few seconds holding the power button to register. Not sure if it's a bug or just the way it was built to prevent mis-selections

Thanks for the reply, but unfortunately holding it down isn't helping so far. I've held it for 60 seconds with no luck.
Then use odin to install a new rom is all i can say.

Does it say button disabled?
Try hard reboot volume up and power button. And of that don't work it's probably hardware related. Maybe a bad button

Odin is for samsung phones...... you have to use nvflash
Read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1160364 which is five threads behind this one. The answer is in there on the second page.

Does anything happen when you press the power button?
Thanks guys, I was thinking I might have to do the nvflash method. The power button was working fine previously and it turns the phone on. Got to work then drink tonight but I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow. Happy New Year!
Thanks guys! The NVFlash method worked and my phone is back working again!
I just recently got my referb bolt ( my original died.. capacitive buttons stopped responding...)
speed rooted it using the AIO thunderbolt tool and all went well.
However, I have ONE really odd issue. I can get into recovery using rom manager, power menu options and through the bootloader reboot into recovery, BUT I CANNOT use volup+power to get into recovery and I cant figure out why.
I tried re-flashing CWM using the AIO tool. I tried using TWRP I even re-flashed CWM in rom manager and cleared my caches. This isnt a huge issue, but 99% working isnt cool and I would hate to have something go wrong later where i need volup+power.
appreciate it guys:good:
I thought it was vol down

Yea volume up and power never worked for me to get into recovery. It's volume down but it takes you to the bootloader not recovery. On my eris it would take you to the recovery but the dinc2 and this device dont.

i dont recall vol up and power ever doing anything on HTC phones. I know it doesnt on the TB. I think you might be getting mixed up with Samsungs.

I must be going crazy, but I could of sworn we were supposed to be able to boot right to recovery using vol up+ power on the bolt. I knew about vol down for boot loader.Maybe I just haven't flashed my phone in forever.
I DO have a Samsung device...maybe I'm confused.
Friend has a HTC Sensation on T-Mobile and is having software problems. I suggested factory wiping and wiping cache in recovery.

go to boot loader ...
(power off phone ,remove battery,re insert it ,then hold volume down + power )
from there browse to recovery using vol up/down buttons and select recovery using power button
once you enter recovery ..you will have a red triangle ..if its stock ...then do a three finger salute (press vol up,down and power at once)..then you will get some options
Thank you sir!!
Also another question, is there a way to reboot (restart) the phone natively on stock? My friend is running the Official ICS OTA if that makes a difference. Or is turning off the phone and back on manually the only way? Lol.
