Voldwn+power=bootloader volup+power=nothing? - Thunderbolt General

I just recently got my referb bolt ( my original died.. capacitive buttons stopped responding...)
speed rooted it using the AIO thunderbolt tool and all went well.
However, I have ONE really odd issue. I can get into recovery using rom manager, power menu options and through the bootloader reboot into recovery, BUT I CANNOT use volup+power to get into recovery and I cant figure out why.
I tried re-flashing CWM using the AIO tool. I tried using TWRP I even re-flashed CWM in rom manager and cleared my caches. This isnt a huge issue, but 99% working isnt cool and I would hate to have something go wrong later where i need volup+power.
appreciate it guys:good:

I thought it was vol down

Yea volume up and power never worked for me to get into recovery. It's volume down but it takes you to the bootloader not recovery. On my eris it would take you to the recovery but the dinc2 and this device dont.

i dont recall vol up and power ever doing anything on HTC phones. I know it doesnt on the TB. I think you might be getting mixed up with Samsungs.

I must be going crazy, but I could of sworn we were supposed to be able to boot right to recovery using vol up+ power on the bolt. I knew about vol down for boot loader.Maybe I just haven't flashed my phone in forever.
I DO have a Samsung device...maybe I'm confused.

LOL, that was happenning to me recently (sometime yasterday). I thought that was it, the end of my Inspire, and I did VOL UP+POWER , I even trying to hook up to pc and redo the rooting, wouldn't work at on. Then google is my best friend , VOL DOWN+POWER got me back to Recovery mode, I will remember for the rest of my Android phone's life
that takes me into regular recovery not clockworkmod
Do you see an option that says Recovery after you get into hboot?

Also, make sure you don't have a PD98IMG file on the root of your SD card or it will always try to install that and not let you select recovery from the options. ( this happened to me multiple times before I realized what was going on.)

has this problem already came up if so I missed it a link would be nice to fix my phone Thanks
I could be misunderstanding your problem here but I think i had a similar issue... first of all make sure you're holding down the power button long enough to boot up. Seems to take 4 or 5 seconds with this phone.
Also when I had the issue i took out the bat, put it back, plugged into a wall charger and then held the power button that worked. But I think really my issue was impatience not holding the power button the first time long enough.
no i am the screen wont say updating or whatever when i hold the up and down button but it looks for a driver ?? and installs the Right driver
helpppppppppp your way to the search button.
Thread moved to proper forum.
You only hold volume down and power. I had the same issue. Holding both volumes will cause the phone to not boot.

People in Hell want Ice Water!
So you flashed the recovery before you rooted. Try reflashing the original recovery. I don't know if that will work. You should have rooted then flashed recovery.

thats what im doing now but gewt stuck at waiting for bootloader to int for some reason
Well your g2x will never go out of the updating screen you have to wait until one click says it has transfered the file. Wait a minute or so after that and unplug the USB and put your battery back in the I would do a master rest.

thing is my lg screen is black can i still root with a black screen ? like i said only action i get out of the g2x is if i hold the vol up And Down and plug it in then i hear the sound of the computer finding it witch gives me hope
I would try recovering recovery befor trying to root again. I would do the nvflash but pick the original recovery instead of cm. Then after that master reset by original recovery which is hold power and down volume. Recovery will rest your rom. Rooting puts you root permissions I believe into a different partition any ways that's how a master reset does not wipe them. Your problem sounds like more of a recovery issue then root.

It is problem is it stays at Waiting for Bootloader int how long should that be there?
are you holding the volume buttons down and plunging in the usb before you select the version? you have to continue holding them the whole time. should pick it up in matter of seconds.

To get into cwm
Hold volume up, down, and power
Release power when the first Samsung logo pops up. But stay holding volume buttons until cwm screen comes up

Cannot get into fastboot mode

I am trying to get a ROM flashed to my HOX for the first time, but I cannot get my phone to boot into fastboot mode. I help down the volume DOWN button and the power button. It reboots, but always takes me back to the ATT intro and then into the normal phone settings. Help?

Um what firmware r u on and that will get u into bootloader if you do it right...if you never updated to 2.20 you don't have to fiddle around with commands before flashing a Rom..easy way if you're rooted and have a recovery get goo manager and have it take u down to recovery from the reboot into recovery option
Go to Settings>Power-UNcheck the fastboot option......power off the phone and do the vol down then power again......it will work

Got it to go into recovery mode, but when trying to flash a Rom then it gets stuck at the red warning banner. I guess fur the sake of the threads title this is probably a closed issue and another thread needs to be made.

My phone doesn't reboot anymore?

I am running CM 11 M5 but I think it has nothing to do with it as I have been running it for sometime and this only started happening yesterday.
When I reboot my phone it goes into bootloader and it is stuck meaning I can't do anything. When I take out the battery and insert it again within seconds it automatically goes into bootloader and is still stuck. The way I get back into the phone is by pressing power + volume down button immediately after inserting the battery. Then it boots normally.
I have done a factory reset of my rom. And if I reboot into recovery it does manage to do that, however when I reboot from recovery it goes back to the bootloader.
What could be the problem here? Regularly rebooting this old phone is almost necessary to keep the performance acceptable so this is really important for me.
Thanks in advance.
Can you replicate it after clean flash of the ROM?

Ahhh I thought about doing this but since my power button is very hard to work with I decided to just do a factory reset. Oh well I'll get down to it tomorrow.
Should I install a touch recovery for the Nexus S? Even my volume buttons are starting to die. Or would you say I should not attempt to change recovery right now?

Flash a touch recovery from fastboot or from recovery. It's an absolute necessity.
Also, I've been using SlimKat (Build 3) and never had to reboot to regain performance. Use it if you want...
