I was looking for a program to overclock MTK6516 processors, from china smartphones with Android, but didn't found anyone witch works.
Somebody knows some program or would like do develope it?
I want this too. I've tried many apps like SetCPU and No-Frills and none of them work.
Most chinese Android devices like the Hero H7000 have pretty decent specs at a pretty damn good price. However, they all use the god damn slow as MTK6xxx CPUs.......
Want something like this too!
Would be nice if one of the developers can write us something
You can't overclock from an app before modding the kernel to allow oc
And to mod the kernel you'ld need the kernel source
kernel unfound since we do not know the brand and manufacturer
Is hard to find it since there is no brand for it and i had been finding it since i bought a Hero H400 android china phone.
Mine CPU is mtk6515 too ~
Anyone tested to root the china phone before?
Thanks.

I've rooted my Gooapple 3G and tweaked it a fair bit and removed the bloatware and managed to get some speed increases that way, but still waiting on Kernel source to be able to do anything more.
The X10 Mini runs the same Qualcomm msm7227 processor as the Gooapple 3G and its widely reported that 787mhz is possible and stable with the X10, so would be nice to have that extra horsepower but until someone comes up with the source it aint gonna happen sadly.
I wonder if its possible to take the hw drivers etc from the Gooapple and merge it with the X10 Mini Source and create a hybrid rom for the Gooapple??
hi thebtman,
You are from Malaysia so this Gooapple 3G.
Need you to give commend on:
1) Camera 5MP?
2) CPU?
3) RAM & ROM?
4) Internet setting for this phone tested?
Any chance in finding an overclocking app for this type of kernel? I've rooted mine, a Star A8 aka Plum Velocity (present on gsmarena) but all the apps told me that is not for my kernel
If you don't have the kernel source, but your phone can be rooted. You can make a Overclock module and load it
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App

And how exactly do you do that?
Why is the kernel source required? It's not that hard to decompile the kernel and hexedit some parts, I just fail to recompile it since I don't know the cmdline for those mediatek processors
My question concerns the use of zram and ramzswap in the custom rom Mindcr v2.4.
I would appreciate detailed information about how to activate zram and ramzswap in Mindcr v2.4. Do you know of any complementary zram and ramzswap scripts available or, alternatively, specific applications oriented to activate and use them for this concrete rom?
Thanks in advance,
Marcuswrapp.

I have found out that zram configuration is included in a init.d file called zram00 which is located in the path: system/etc/init.d. As it is detailed in the MindCr Rom specifications, zram is set to 72 Mb.
hello people, just checking new backtrack versions out there n came to this new rebuild of it called Kali Linux. it is already out for Arm devices. Do u guys think that it can be ported to canvas 2? Anybody want to take initiative? Am not so familiar with Arm architecture. For more information posting a link here. http://www.kali.org/downloads/#
some more info

i think native install will be difficult. but it is possible to run the ARM version on the ROM. it becomes painfully slow as the RAM available for KALI is around 150MB or so

kali linux runs on raspberry pi natively, with only 700mhz processor arm v6 and 512 mb ram. so it will run much better on a110 IMO. the link you provided, am not getting the correct idea does it directly boot the linux or through x server and vnc ?

IIRC, the booting sequence of RPi is different from that of our device. as of now, i am sure it is difficult for native install. the link i provided is through VNC
if there is a way to boot Kali directly, that will be pretty awesome.
we need programmers to enhance videocore gpu it's programable and as i know it's good it needs more support .. and make kernel with overclocked GPU ... any ideas .......
http://www.broadcom.com/products/technology/mobmm_videocore.php
as Raspberry Pi devs they made it powerfull .. so we can ......

It's not that easy as you think.
I mean Kernel development is very hard and you need alot of knowledge.
Let see if we can make a fully working CM10.2 build and then maybe I will make CM11.
BTW if you want a Custom kernel for GPU OC look for Guides on XDA.There are many of them.

Hi everyone,
I want to reduce the size of my zImage. Is is possible to change the kernel compression type without source code? So is there any other possiblities for reducing the size of kernel??? Anyone pls ?
