LG Spectrum - Android General

Read that Amazon is selling it for $80 on a upgrade, that's a good price, wondering if anyone is gonna pick it up, even if its a LG phone.
-Sent from my Droid 2-

I'm picking it up for my wife since the specs on it are solid and it's so cheap. I have the Galaxy Nexus which I love, but for the price, you really can't beat the Spectrum. My buddy has the really nice LG android phone for TMobile and his has been great. I just hope they start making some roms for it soon.

Who is picking up a MT4G tomorrow?

I will be at a T-Mobile store tomorrow morning to pick up this phone. Sold my Vibrant on Ebay Sunday, GF did the same. She will go pick hers up after work tomorrow. Pretty excited about the phone, not because I think it's leaps and bounds ahead of the competition but gives me the features I wanted that the Vibrant did not have, ffc (I know you can install one but they are still working out issues and I like native support), led notification, flash, and hopefully it doesnt pick up the exhaust noise of my car so i can actually talk in my car. Ive been using my backup, a sony ericsson K810i for the last couple days and wow, i cant believe I had this phone for 1.5 years, Im on day 3 and am going crazy!

Haha.. I'm still on the G2 but I'm exchanging it for the Mt4g tomorrow as well.. what I'm trying to decide on is red or black?????
Sent from my T-Mobile G2
Red FTW!!! I am currently using my daughters mt3g cause my HD2 took a dump it was mine for 8 months when it first came out (I'm dying on this small of a screen. It's like moving into a studio apartment from a mansion). I had the G2 for 2 weeks but didn't like how thick it was. I'm really excited about this phone. Love the actual buttons on the front, and the ded cam button is a huge plus over my HD2. I will be picking this up in the morning.
I'll be picking one up as well. I returned my vibrant last week in anticipation for it. I'm going to call later today and see if they can sell it early like the G2.
I will be waiting for more user reviews before getting it, like you guys! Also need to play around with it in store. It's gonna be tough for me since I really don't want to part ways with the awesome display on the Vibrant, but since I plan to develop some apps, I gotta get a phone that has almost all the features.
Btw, how much did you guys sell your Vibrant for? Around $300?
Go pick up your Mytouch 4g!
You guys can now go to your local t-mobile store to pickup your mytouch 4g, share your first impressions and un-boxing experience
Did stores get the 'OK' to sell early?
I will never get a phone on launch day again after i did with the Vibrant. I will wait at least 2 weeks to study user reviews and possible price drops. Maybe I'll be able to hold out til black Friday. There's sure to be some great deal by then. Maybe BOGO?
The couple stores i called said they arent selling until tomorrow
Just called a couple tmobile stores and they arent selling them early, but yeah im deciding between red and black and my gf is deciding between plum and black. Im also going to see what sort of price costco gets when they get their inventory, i picked up my vibrant for 250 with no contract from them when it first came out.

+1 ya youbetcha
My local store said no when asked about buying today too.
Just called like 6 stores, none of them were selling it. Great topic man.
I'll be at my local T-Mobile store around 10am to pick it up. Definitely going for the red one.
Torn between phones
So I called tmobile today.. and they told me I could swap my G2 for the MT4G. I Love my G2 but I want a FFC...but.. I'm not sold on the development of this phone. The G2 has tons of recognized developers working on it and I'm havnt seen any of the developers I fallow on twitter even mention the MT4G.. what do you guys think? I'm thinking about getting the white one too what do you guys think? I bought my G2 for $100 so I'm getting this phone for dirt cheap.

how
how can you swap your G2 for it? Are u inside the remorse period?
I'd say do it if you don't need the keyboard and unless you are like a huge texter, who needs a keyboard?
Obviously if you want the newest updates, more roms, etc, keep the G2. If you like a physical keyboard, keep the G2. I doubt the mt4g will have as much developers as the G2.
For me, the front facing camera is just a novelty. I'm pretty sure it's one of those things where you play around with for a few days at most and never touch again, unless you have a specific reason to need a fcc.
The mt4g aesthetics aren't appealing to me as much as the unibody design with the G2. I am sure the mt4g will have some people working on it if you really want the fcc that much, but for now the G2 seems to be like the better phone, unless you really need the fcc. Then again I never really looked at the specs of the mt4g, but I have not heard that much amazing things about it unlike the G2.
This is just my opinion, I would just go with whichever phone you think suits you better.

mytouch 4g
i just sold my vibrant for 260.00 and i ordered my mt4g today early.
Going to get one tomorrow and keep at least through the remorse period.
If not happy with what I can do with temp root and installing apps, will probably let it go back. After using completely open nexas one, don't know how much I can accept being locked down again.
Also, if the other new features (besides front camera) get old, may decide to stay with the nexus anyway. It gets 3-4 mb/second download on local network, so extra speed has only small utility (as opposed to loosing hot spot tether, etc.) and having to reload everything on each reboot.

Trading for a Thunderbolt

Hey everyone,
I have the opportunity to trade my 32gb iPod 4g plus cash for a Thunderbolt. Right now I have an Incredible, which I love, but the Thunderbolt looks SICK. How much cash do you think I should be willing to throw out there to get a Thunderbolt? I mean, it's worth it, right?
Yes Absolutely!!
I bought my thunderbolt from Verizon for $200 with a new 2 year contact and sold my 3g iPod Touch 32GB for $150.
Don't know how much that helps you, but there it is. The Thunderbolt is a pretty decent media player, although the output isn't quite as nice as the iPod.
I wouldn't think there should need to be much cash involved. I would totally trade in an iphone for a thunderbolt but not for a lot of money. It won't be the coolest phone for too long.
Turns out the guy wasn't really motivated to sell it. Wanted like close to retail price. Offered me $125 for my iPod. Yeah right!
And so my search continues. Back to my Incredible for now I guess! Darn 2 year contracts.

How much will the USA Samsung Galaxy S 2 cost about(no contract)?

Hello everyone!
I'm on sprint. And usually id say all high-end android phones on sprint are around $549. I searched the sg2 on eBay and the UK version was around $700-$800!!! Will it be like this for usa sprint users too?! If it is, I'll probably go for the evo 3d.
Thank You!
The ones which are being sold on eBay and Amazon.com are indeed from other countries (mostly European). That price may include int'l shipping and possibly some taxes. That's why it's so expensive.
A no-contract i9100 is £435 on Amazon.co.uk, which roughly converts to $700 - a reasonable guess for the American version release price.
so you think all version will be $700? thats a lot of money for a phone!
Well, I've paid a bit more than that on my SGS2 - I had the chance to buy one while I was travelling abroad
I can't say it was a bad deal as I'm from Brazil, where an unlocked SGS2 costs much more than that...
But hey, this phone is 55 days old or so... its price will certainly drop. Just look how cheap SGS is nowadays
it hasnt even been released in the usa yet! but how is it? is it really good for the price? and idk if you ever heard of the evo 3d, well if you have, whats better sg2 or evo 3d?
It was my first Android device (my previous phone was a Nokia N85 - Symbian) and I must say it's impressively fast when compared to any other Android phone I could see from friends. Everything is perfect - if I must point something bad about it I could mention the battery, which rarely lasts more than 24h, but I'm pretty sure that will be solved with the next Android update (2.3.4).
I haven't checked Evo 3D specs, so I cannot really say much about it - there must be reviews comparing them somewhere else. What I have got is a Nintendo 3DS, and if Evo 3D uses the same effect, it's probably pretty cool! However, some of my friends had issues with the Nintendo 3DS effect causing headaches...
ty for reply! this phone looks amazing! best android phone out there! could you tell me some more stuff about galaxy s 2 that will blow my mind lol? what else is amazing? whats bad?
Well, most of the stuff I'm really impressed about are just Android features other phones have, as this was my first one - but the SGS2 just do all of them faster
The SGS2 screen is its key feature, and it is really nice. The camera is great for both photos and videos (1080p). There is also a software called Kies Air which enables me to connect to my phone and control it right from my web browser wirelessly, pretty easy to get any files inside it.
The only problem I've had so far is with the battery, as I mentioned before =/
this phone looms amazing!! If it is really expensive above $700 I might just get evo 3d. I really want this tho!

upgrade phone for $150.

Ok, been talking to Verizon for weeks now, trying to dump this clunker of a phone. They absolutely refused to give me an early upgrade. But yesterday i did get a woman who gave me great advice i wanted to share.
She said even if she did the early upgrade, I would have to accept another 2 year contract, pay $299 for the phone, and the $350 termination fee that goes with it. She said that I should go to ebay and get a New or nearly new Droid Razr which sells for $350 at times. I could sell my charge for up to $200 and my upgrade will cost me $150 without the termination fee. so I'm basically saving $800 by not having them 'upgrade me'.
So that's what i did. I actually paid $375 for an auction with free shipping and saw the charge sold regularly for about $170-190. Still, I can always sell the razr later on and get something new with no penalties from here on.
don't flame me if you love the charge. It's just been problematic for me. Too little memory for my needs. between scrabble, Words with Friends, all my other apps which have 5 meg resident notifiers, my phone crashes often.
why would the $350 early termination fee come into play if they "gave" you an early upgrade....that sounds like cancelling your account and opening a new one...slight miscalculation I would say
she said based on how long i've had phones with Verizion (8 months for the fascinate, and 6 months with the charge), if in another 6 months i were to want another new phone outside of verizon. I'm only getting the Razr because i'm still on the hook for the term fee. I would get the nexus galaxy on tmobile's $30 plan if not for the term fee. By doing this, i will be out by August and can move on freely to any phone and any other non-contract plan. Can even stay on Verizon month to month.
I already moved my wife and son to Tmobile's $30 4G plan and they love it. In August, i will move there most likely if they still offer it.
You really didn't get an upgrade offer it seems, right?
I was on the phone with someone last week who told me I should look on eBay for a new phone since they won't give me any deal. The guy told me I could sell my phone for $200 easy, but I'm not in the market to be playing that game and dealing with idiots on ebay/CL.
I'm actually surprised a bit with Verizon that they wont give early upgrades. When I was with AT&T I got one in 5 months because my phone was stolen and smashed. I got $150 credit towards $$ off the iPhone and extended my contract for 2 more years.

Don't do this. Verizon is expensive but they actually use that money to upgrade their cell sites and make new ones. It is hands-down the best wireless carrier in the US, and in my opinion, worth it unless you spend your whole life in downtown Chicago for example.
When I had my HTC Thunderbolt 4G, I sold that for $150 and used the money to get a Droid Charge from Craiglist for $300, no contact extension whatsoever.
But I was negative $150, but considering how much I hate the thunderbolt, it's really worth it.
Droid RAZR? That would be a downgrade! Locked bootloader, super-wide unpractical bezel, terrible screen (pentile), worse camera. Total gimmick phone that sells due to the huge marketing blitz on Verizons behalf

That's your opinion, not fact, and your opinions are incidentally not shared by the overwhelming majority of people who review phones for a living:
http://reviews.cnet.com/smartphones/motorola-droid-razr-black/4505-6452_7-35033947.html ("4.5/5 With its razor-thin design, jam-packed features, and blazing speed, the Motorola Droid Razr is easily one of the year's top Android smartphones.")

http://pocketnow.com/android/motorola-droid-razr-review (4.5/5 "It's thin, lightweight, durable, fast, and has a beautiful screen.")
Just because it's not as good as the Galaxy Nexus -- though the latter's lead will narrow once the Razr gets ICS -- doesn't mean it's not a very good device.

I'm not gonna say its a bad phone but the locked bootloader and blur (in general, not really just on the razr) will keep me away from any moto phone for the time being... if they put out an unlocked relatively bloat/skin free (read: nexus) phone I'd give it some thought
my .02
Android central just picked it as the phone of the year over the nexus.
http://www.androidcentral.com/2011-android-central-awards-editors-choice-picks
Fact is that the Motoblur, HTC sense, Touchwiz , all are there because AOSP is just plain. Right now, everyone loves ICS because it's different and adds alot of features over froyo. But how happy would you be with stock froyo or gingerbread. That is pretty much what you will get on Nexus, stock. I like HTC sense, Moto and touchwiz. I prefer to have a phone with ICS and sweet touches. What's funny is that the RAZR is getting the nod over the Nexus while it's still on gingerbread with moto. I can only imagine how cool the phone will be on ICS with MOTO and custom roms.
I looked at the nexus, but ebay has them running for $550. That's a $200 premium. If i don't like the RAZR, which i doubt, i can always sell it a few months out and get the Nexus when the sticker shock price comes down. In the meantime, i'll have a phone that is leagues ahead of the charge and it's 200 megs or RAM that keeps crashing on me.

I love Verizon. But $30 bucks is alot cheaper than any other 4g Unlimited plan. Hell, its the same price as what others charge for 2GB data plans.
Verizon could have done an early upgrade for me and got me for another 2 years. I would have sent them $300 for the RAZR and they would have been way better off. It's their fault that are not doing early upgrades. If I were them, i would do early upgrades as soon as i recouped my profit for the phone which is usually less than 6 months of service depending on options. I can tell the employees i've dealt with at verizon wanted to do it for me, they knew holding onto a customer for 2 more years plus paying $300 for a phone they probably got for $300 is the best way to keep customers. Just a big corporate company not allowing it.

Why Did You Buy A Galaxy Note 5:User Introduction Thread

Hello
Ive had my Note 5 for 10 days now, coming from an HTC One M7 of 2 years 8 months and felt it was finally time for an upgrade. Ive been a long supporter of HTC products since the EVO 4G days but lately have felt differently about the company so it was time to move on and finally make a change
One of the companies i looked to naturally was HTC's main competitor Samsung. In the past i have said negative things about Samsung. Ive always thought their products were overhyped, overpriced, gimmicky and sometimes unoriginal and that they were lucky to be successful because of their marketing budget. Never liked the bloatiness, not customizable friendly and bland UI of Touchwiz. However i cannot knock Samsung for their displays, has always been the best in its class.
The only product i thought about buying from Samsung at one time was the Galaxy S3, but Touchwiz was the main reason i stayed away. Ive always taken an interest to the Note series but wasnt ready to handle a screen of that size. the phablet idea was ahead of its time though. While i have been critical of Samsung and said their marketing is the reason they are the #1, i will be fair and say they have been more forward thinking in their ideas lately
I actually was more interested in getting a Nexus 6P than a Note 5. However the Note 5 was more convenient and affordable for me without having to switch carriers so the next best thing after the 6P is the Note 5. Also considered getting a S6Edge/Edge+ but thats where the gimmicky and overpriced mantra comes into play.
The camera was the main draw for me, followed by the S-pen functionality. I will miss the front stereo speakers of my M7 though and some of the friendly customizations of Sense. Still trying to get used to Touchwiz but i like it or hate it the Note 5 will be my phone for the next 2 years hopefully i will mostly like it. Its about time i give Samsung a shot so i can fairly criticize it!
Right now i mostly love it but the battery life is a bit of a letdown, hoping Marshmallow update fixes this! The screen, camera, multitask window and s-pen is all what i expected and makes it a nice upgrade over the m7
I had a Nexus 5, i broke the screen. Was replaced with this device for $100 insurance deductible (not bad). Phone rocks but i'm living in touchwiz hell.

Nope not bad at all.
I hate how the app drawer is on the right but can't find a way to move it to the middle of the dock. Is there any way to rearrange it without having to find a replacement UI and therefore drain my battery more? Lol.
had the note 2 time for a upgrade
plus I got some cool gifts
these were the cool gifts
I've been sitting a year out of contract because the SD810 disaster and a garbage generation of phones.
Sprints LTE band2 has always been garbage in Phoenix AZ, so I was getting fed up with 3Mbit at best with full signal).
I was very close to getting a cheaper older phone at T-Mobile until this deal happened.
It was $50 at best buy, and their insurance is great. Also the $100 Samsung pay gift code to get a gear vr for free. The holiday gift pack is just a surprise bonus I'm also trying to take advantage of.
The deal was too good to pass up and I stuck with Sprint, I'm happy I did because the two extra LTE bands that I didn't have with my Optimus G make a world of difference. I will miss rooting though.

It might be too late to get the $100 coupon code, but if you do actually have it, here's the gear vr link.

After dealing with an increasingly slow s3 i finally had had enough of that phone. I was ready to throw it against the wall. I had that phone for two years plus it was already 2 years old by that time i think. Love the note 5. I hate the predictive text, mainly because i type fast and it doesn't always hey the word right and i have to stop and delete and retype...sometimes often. Otherwise I'm loving the phone, no complaints and not even rooted.
