I must have froze the wrong application in Titanium Backup, and now I can not get into the phone applications; the home button does not respond to bring up anything. I did have a backup in Dropbox. Is it possible to unfreeze the apps via my backup in dropbox?
Thanks

Umm.. That's NOT bricking your phone. Go check out GTGS ultimate unbricker. Done.

Well, I've managed to get the phone up and running by going into download mode, and then choosing delete user data.
This kept my SuperUser intact, the problem is trying to download Titanium Backup back to the phone. When I go to my android account, and try to re-download it, it tells me it is already installed.
Thanks
Charles

Try a root explorer. See if you can uninstall that way.
If not, do the whole thing. ALL the way back to stock. Then root 3e community kernel.. Yadada.

OK...I'm a believer. Got my Titanium Backup, backup and running. Ran the backup for all apps + data, and TB brought everything back! All my apps, all my email accounts and messages, all my sync software and folders. TB even brought back my book reader to the exact page of the book I was reading!
So, everybody can LOL at me...I can take it. I promise to be more careful in the future when I freeze stuff!
Thanks TB!

Titanium backup doesn't work right on our Captivate...If you want it back the only way I know of is to use the Odin3 stock ROM restore...Look at the stickies in the development section..

Thanks for the response. I have done the Odin 3 restore before, just thought there was an easier way.
Not that I don't believe you, but I would think that the "remove AT&T bloatware" thread would have mentioned that Titanium backup doesn't work. Why bother uninstalling as opposed to deleting if you can't put it back.
Thanks for the news, even if it is not what i wanted to hear.
Although it cannot help you now, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734163 is the way to go. In layman's, it will image your phone for you to restore it in case something like this happens.
You would have had to make an image with the program still installed in order to restore it back, hence why it won't help you now. For future reference though, the options are endless with Rom Manager.
There is a stock rom floating around the forum, maybe someone can extract the app from it and you can sideload it.
Out of curiosity, why do you want it back? I will start removing the junk I don't want from my phone soon and this was one of those apps. Is there a bad sideeffect from removing it or you just simply want that feature back?
I will probably reflash again sometime soon, so no worries. It is easy enough.
The only reason i wanted it back was to use it in the DeskDock app - it is not a great widget on the home screen, but if you want to set weather or calendar in the DeskDock app, you need the widget.
Hey guys, I'm back with another question.
Little info about the phone first.
I'm running MikShift v1.01
Kernal 2.6.32.21-gbd7abbd
I'm not getting Sprint's Visual Voicemail on my phone. It just text me and says I have a new voicemail. Is there a way to add this on? I've tried downloading MikShift v1.1, but everytime I do, it still says v1.01
Also, I've downloaded cyanogen mod7. The only problem is, when I flash to it, none of my messages or contacts come with it. Is there a way to load these on once I transfer over?
One last question. Is there Kernal I'm running current? Or is there another one I should be running at this time?
Thanks in advance for your help. Will "thanks" with any info given.
Thanks again!
Well for the voicemail u have to get the sprint voicemail apk. And install that ..and if u want ur contacts saved u can use an app called my backup from the market or just go to ur contacts and then hit menu and export them to ur SD card. That exporting method works on sense and cm7 and whenever u wanna put ur contacts back just go to the contacts app and then hit menu and import the contacts from ur SD card
Edit : oh and for ur messages u can also back them up with that my backup app from the market.or just look for SMS backup or something

Ok. I just went ahead and went with google voice after reading some reviews. I want to avoid the constant error messages from Sprint.
As far as the backup methods you suggested, I tried "my backup" and did a complete backup. Then when I loaded cyanogen mod7, I went into file manager and attempted to load it. It started to reboot and it stopped at a triangle with an exclamation point inside of it and the android guy. It just say there for 10 minutes. So, I assumed that means something was wrong.
Any insight on this? Thanks for your help on this too!

I think I may give up on these CM roms. Maybe I'll just stick with the Mik roms. I don't have any problems with them. Plus, they should have a sense with GB up and going, bug free here soon.
I appreciate your help though!
As the title states my phone is stuck with baseband version I997UCKD5. Everytime my phone trys to get a update it tells me that it cannot connect to ATT servers. My phone is rooted, is this why its not updating or do I have a defective phone. I have tried to find the answers for with no luck so if someone could please point me in the right direction that would be great.
this is typical att. it is not the phone. can you connect to odin? if you can then backup your apps with titanium backup then use odin to flash gtg's rooted ucke3 package, then backup the new rom with cwm (just good practice). if the apps are wiped then use titanium to reinstall them. it is not always a good idea to restore system data with titanium but i dont think there are significant system changes to prevent hat from working, id try it then if everything force closes id wipe user data in recovery and try it again without restoring system data.
I had the same problem even when i was UNrooted. I rooted my phone and updated to that Infused ROM. I then used the [ODIN][UCKE3] Return to stock download to return to stock and then I had the new update. Everything turned out fine, I had no problems afterwards. I then proceeded to UNroot the device and a day or 2 after that I recieved a new update but alas my phone STILL cannot connect to the servers.

yes, backup just in case. i dont know if gtg's package wipes but it probably does, actually id bet on it.
sometimes if the firmware is different restoring system data causes issues, what that means is you would lose your call logs and things. but if the app+system data restore causes issues you can just clear data in recovery mode and restore app+data rather than apps +all system data.
do you have contacts sync'd with google? att? if not export the contacts to a v-card on the sdcard. then import after the flash. but i recomend the gole contacts sync if you have want to set it up, sometimes simply setting it up on the phone doesnt work the first time. but once it is working it will restore contacts to any android phone you ever own and you can edit and merge contacts from the gmail website to keep it organized.

sorry i think i miss read something, i thought you meant "incase" hand you lose you apps to backup with titanium which would imply it would be before but now i see it says "if" which implies after the fact, sorry if my confussion caused you problems.
so you didn't do the backup before the flash? and all that apps are present but some force close? is this right? just for clerification
if the apps are still there you may just need to clear app data, this can be done in titanium or in setting> apps > manage apps> all go to each app individually and clear data. this will lose progress on games but not usually much else.
you may prefer to use titanium, to get titanium to work go to settings> apps > manage apps > 3rdparty/downloaded scroll down to titanium and clear data (this wont hurt the backups they are on the sd card)
if that doesnt work and you have access to the market then delete titanium and reinstall it.
im about to be away from my computer, if this doesnt get resolved contact me through pm and i will get back to it tonight. i will make every attempt to keep whatever apps you still have.

All my apps came back up, just have to reset my screens with my wigets and etc.. but have the new baseband UCKE3 now that is what i was after. Thanks again for the help!
I bought Titanium Backup Pro and have a key.
However, whenever I flash a new ROM, all my apps start coming back. If I try to install the Key from the Play Store, it gets pushed under everythign else and downloads at the end.
I tried the option in Titanium Backup settings where it copies Titanium Backup as an update.zip to the sd card, but that only restores the regular, FREE Titanium Backup app, without the key.
So my question is: How do I restore the Titanium Backup Pro Key on my first boot into a new rom, without installing any of the other apps I previously had? (I prefer to restore everything with Titanium Backup, rather than letting the Play Store do it)
Thanks for reading
When you flash a new rom uncheck keep this phone backed up with my google account. That is not exactly how its worded but its in the initial set up.
REplY
You should have installed MY BACKUP ROOT before flashing the new rom

I do the following steps:
before installing new ROM,
I first back up all apps using Titanium Backup. I ensure that I back up the Titanium PRO app as well.
Then after installing the new ROM... i do the following:
after signing into the phone - I go to play store and stop all downloads and install Titanium Backup free.
when I run the free version it automatically registers the PRO version as it is backed up in it.
then I can restore all other apps using Titanium back up PRO.
Let me know if this was helpful to you.
Yeah I figured it, what I have to do is sign in from my account but uncheck the boxes for backing up accounts and restoring to the phone. Then I just download both the program and its key from the market. Thanks!

Reply to your question
I hear dev support is pretty good (never had to contact him/her/them myself though)
because when applications freeze, then thaw and then I said: application not installed
I leave the option to keep my phone baked up to my account when I flash a new rom, but always uncheck the first option that says something to the effect of "restore from my account". Then I grab tb from the play store, unless the rom has a baked in file explorer, since I keep a copy backed up in my storage.
Installing my backup root prior to flashing a new rom will do absolutely no good if you wipe data.

You dont have to uncheck anything, as soon as the phone gets to the homescreen just go to the play store and stop the downloads just takes a click. Keeping google restore checked you will have your contacts back as soon as you boot up.
Contacts will restore whether the restore from Google account is selected during initial setup or not, as long as contacts are allowed to sync with your account.

Tried the recommandations like wipe, use rcm set privileges, no prevail,
Anybody has new ideas?

Hello, before I installed Pac-Man 4.4, I made a backup with TB. Ported them with usb to my desktop from the computer. did a full wipe. flashed pacman 4.4 and gapps. then i installed tb from the play store, also pro version, then ported the files back from computer to tb file, opened tb and want to choose restore but there are zero apps to restore and normaly there are 350. Some help is welcome thank you.

Before I odin my phone back to stock so I can update to ICS, I want to know if there is anyway to back up contacts, sms, call history, etc. before doing this. I use tibackup when I am flashing ROMS, but I don't know if I will be able to access these backups? And tibackup will not work without root, so I won't be able to use it anyways.

back em up with titanium, a root solution is available. just make sure to copy the entire titaniumbackup folder to windows/linux/osx, flash the os, install titanium again, and copy everything from the old titanium folder to the new to restore

i use 'backup to gmail' for my sms and mms, it puts all your messages in your gmail in folders and will restore call log and sms, dont support restore of mms yet... i paid fo it and there is a free version too, i think it limits the number of back-up messages tho...
