Hello guys... Today I've installed ICS and Honeycomb (3.2) AVDs on my PC first time... But ICS works very slow and Honeycomb works slower... And I can"t start learning Android development with this AVDs... Can you help me to fix this problem?
Little info about my PC:
RAM - 3GB
CPU - Intel Pentium dual core 1.8GH
OS - Windows 7 ultimate 32b
And my AVDs have 1GB virtual RAM
My avds aren't ics or honeycomb as most phones still use gb but have you tried making a gb version to see if it is specific to all android avds or just to the two you have already?

I know that most phones use GB, but since I just started to learn, I think that when I'll be ready to do something, than all phones will use ICS or even higher D
But soon I'll try to install GB... Thanks...

I was just meaning that if a gb one works fine you at least know its not all avds that have a problem.
If all do it then try lowering the virtual ram to 512mb and see if that helps.

Hey there... just wanna ask you geeks here how hard is to port Android 2.2 to a 2.1 Device?!
i've just ordered the new aPad or gPad (G10) today with TeleChip and Android 2.1 onto...
also have the "old" 1.5 aPad with the RockChip, but no 3D acceleration and with no official support für 2.x !!
But theres already a quit big custom rom scene there...
but i think my question is better repealed here!
how hard is it to port 2.2 ??
what does i ned ?! Source of the 2.1 ?!
thx for any Help!
You can't port 2.2 to 2.1, you port it to the device

don't needs to be device specific... a generall statemate is allready more than i have now!
I think the point that is trying to be made is that you have a device. It happened to have come with 2.1 on it. It's not really a 2.1 device. It's just a device with 2.1 on it. You just need a kernel and device drivers that are compatible with 2.2 and your device. That's very much a summary though.
If I had to guess, you should be able to get most things working under 2.2 with the drivers from 2.1. However, I only have 1 device (a Droid Eris), so I have no experience with the devices that you mention.

i'm awar of that the device is "not a 2.1" device only... and it could be possible to get an official ROM in future.. but i wanna try to do it earlyer on myself!
so that is the point...
i saw this from HD2 Android Development...
there where firstly only 2.1 available..
but shortly after that there was a 2.2 Port too!
i pretty guess that they didn't have to rewrite the hole modules (drivers) the just edited somethin in the Nexus/Desire 2.2 File so to match the HD2
thx

Understood.
It's quite possible, I'm sure. There has not been an official 2.2 update for the Eris (and won't be), but there are several CM6 (2.2) ROMs out for it. The same for the Hero and probably several others.
I have a partially working AOSP (non-CM) 2.2 ROM, but have yet to get the audio to work. (I really like to hear the phone ring, so it's not quite usable yet.)
ok sounds good so far...
now the question is, whats the general process of gooing such a port on?
to get the system dump is not the problem... that should be done easily...
Are you talking about below device ?

Hello all,
i'm trying to port or install the MIUI rom for Optimus 3D. I've tried some things, but i don't know how start.
Somebody can help me or tell if the port will be avaible some day?
(I'm trying to install 2.3 MIUI without 3D support) OMAp4 compatible ROM and port it.
The official miui webs for more info: www.miui.com www.miuiandroid.com
Best regards
Well MIUI is based on CM7 and we know that aremcee has got it running on O3D so in theory it should be possible, but I don't know of any other OMAP4 phones to port it from, which would probably mean building it from scratch which would be really hard to do...
Unless there is another phone with similar hardware running it, then you could pull bits from CM7 to try to get it running, but that would mean getting CM7 for the O3D and I don't think aremcee will release it until its running properly with all the 3D bits working

It is really a hard job dude. We should wait for CM7 at first.
It will not support 3d currently i guessed.

guys cm7 is out (alpha) well now hope that the problems are getting killed, and i think after that miui will be available for our phones so again we have to wait
Hey all!
I've just got an Arnova 10 G2 8GB which has Android 2.3 installed, i'd really like CM7 on there.
Now CM7 is also Android 2.3 so i was wondering if i'd have to build a new kernal and go all through the works or could i just push the drivers/device specific apk's and would it work?
I'm completly new but i'd like to learn and with that i need a starting place.
Thanks in advance.
A kernel would have to be produced, as would drivers and many hours of tweaking and debugging would be involved.
I have no doubts you'll see an ICS update for your device from Archos fairly soon.

Hello,
I've got a Wopad V7+ tablet, it's a 2.3 tablet ( cortex A8 processor ).
Recently, Wopad's team released ice cream sandwich for this tablet.
Unfortunatly, the touchscreen is not working, and the touchscreen driver is in the kernel ( witch is non-open source )
So my question is, can i use the gingerbread kernel to run ics ?
i know how to built a kernel, use ADB etc ...
gingerbread kernel's sources are here :
https://github.com/mikeNG/haipad-m8-kernel-2.6.35.7
( haipad is pratically the same tablet )
Thanks for your attention, and excuse me for my english ( i'm french ! )

It's not that you cannot run ics on GB kernel.. An currently using ics on my galaxy s using GB kernel.. But problem is no video recording, no hardware acceleration, n many such problems..
Also you will have to back port all apps to make it compatible.. Which is tedious job. But if you think you are capable of doing it, it's worth a try.. ;-)

Thanks for the answer !
So there are no way to "adapt" the gb kernel for ics ?
I know everything will not works properly but i'd like to try
Thank you very much !

Hello everyone, this is my first topic on XDA after lurking for a while!
Anyways, today my topic is going to be concerning an Android Mini Tablet called the PlayMG. It's a WiFi tablet by a startup that's now gone bankrupt. The actual name of the device (development-wise) was the ACTScom A930. It was supposed to be a small 4 inch tablet like an iPod Touch with Android. You can find various info by googleing the name.
The specs go as stated:
ARM TCC8920 @ 960 MHz
1 GB RAM
4 GB DDR3 Storage
Android 4.0.4 ICS
Geekbench test:
http : //browser.primatelabs . com/geekbench3/356000
(sorry, I'm new so I can't post links until 10 posts)
The device was pretty cheap (around 90 dollars) and since then I've rooted it. I had to use SafeRoot because there is virtually no support anywhere for this device. As you can tell from the specs above, the device is fairly weak. My goal is to overclock the device to run at around 1.10-1.25 Ghz, however I'm stuck on the stock ROM and kernel. And as you can probably guess, there is no one to develop and overclockable Kernel for it. I have a few questions that I would like answered:
I was wondering are there any methods to overclock the stock kernel? Is that pretty much impossible?
Are there any ICS (or any) kernels that might work on this device?
Could I build the Kernel myself?
^Questions regarding this:
-Since the company went bankrupt, I can't really obtain a stock kernel, Could I somehow extract it from the device itself?
-If I were able to get the kernel, where can I go on XDA to guide me to building an overclockable kernel?
Does anyone have any ideas on how to overclock this device? I'm accepting all ideas, good or bad!
Thank you everyone in advance. All responses/knowledge is welcome!
Im also looking forward to this... Have a samsung galaxy star pro... Have compiled stock kernel from source successfully... It works... Nw i need to add oc nd everythung... How shuld i do it??? It is a spreadtrum device...
Anyone?
