What would you suggest? - General Questions and Answers

So far I've only had 2 android devices. The g2 and the Atrix. I guess im too used to the iphone's on screen keyboard and typing feels difficult to me on the droids. So I was wondering what androids have a good qwerty keyboard? I want to see if there are other possibilities before getting a g2 again.
edit: physical keyboards

I'm not 100% sure what android have good default keyboards but it is not difficult to download a custom one for exam I switch between touchpal keyboard and ice cream sandwich but if you life the iPhone key board you can download it for free off the market place

Besides the G2, the only decent phones with keyboards are the Droid 3 and soon to be released Droid 4.

If android isn't a requirement, dell venue pros are outstanding.

HTC DESIRE Z the best keyboard
~§~

There are a ton of keyboards to try on android. I have loved Swype in the past, but then started getting some errors and use the ICS keyboard now, or Swift.

I'm quite fond of Smart Keyboard Pro. It's very customisable and has an iPhone skin built in if that's what you're after.

Physical keyboard, try the Motorola ones and Xperia Pro/Mini Pro

Why hasn't miui fixed the haptic feedback with the keyboard?

I like my haptic feedback. And don't tell me to download the one from the market because I have the ics keyboard not the gingerbread one.

Should this not be in the Miui thread for whatever phone you have?

I don't really like MIUI, but CM7 has an extensively customizable set of options for haptic feedback tweaks. I can change the intensity, duration, etc. And if I'm not mistaken, MIUI is just a direct copy of CM7's source, so would those not be included?
I could be wrong though. Either way, we're just trying to help. No need to lose your cool.

A few quick corrections:
The FFC is 0.3MP (VGA)
It is NOT GSM!! (Cricket is a CDMA network) Phone supports CDMA2000 1xEV-DO.
It is called 'Mercury' in the USA and called 'Honor' in European/Asian markets, which may have different specs. Being that you posted this in November I'm guessing the full specifications where not available.
I am sure once the phone catches on there will be devs working on it. There is already a way to root the phone! Pretty good for something just released this month
Yes i see, sorry was not arround till now i wasent notify about ur responce ill see if i can acctualy get my hands on one of those devices and start rooting it lol

Would be cool to get some dev support. Hopefully we can when its released by AT&T.
I would like to have mods ported. The Chinese have Ice Cream Sandwich on their NON-CDMA. So this hardware is not lacking, and I keep researching ways to port. Apparently AT&T is making it's own non-Cricket edition. Godspeed.

What's the best way to root the m886? Links or tutorials would be greatly appreciated. I've searched and searched and cannot find any decent method. Thanks
Sent from my M886 using xda premium
Go to "cricket users forum " there are links to everything you need plus a custom recovery
Sent from my Zio using XDA App
The rooting and custom recovery are useful. What I want is an ICS port that is custom before it is released. I saw there is a ROM for the M886, but it is not really working with Cricket or with the networks. I hope this will be updated then I will be glad to switch over completely.

Are you currently using a custom recovery program if do which one, our which method did you follow?

It may not have the build quality of the Samsungs and others but, the T-Mobile HTC HD7 is a gorgeous phone. The T-Mobile SGS2 is also gorgeous.

Another great move by the mods. A rhetorical question in the Q & A section...genius.
The HTC HD7/s is the most gorgeous phone I've owned so far. I also love the Inspire and believe it or not, the Wildfire looks amazing.

The T-Mobile version. It has better looking sides and back. Also, the Motorola Droid Razr is a gorgeous one. And I'm loving the looks of my Atrix 2.

[Q] HTC Sense 4.0 home launcher??

Can anyone please port HTC sense 4.0 into a home.apk for non-root users???
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using XDA
I think that there are some developers are working on it ... u just have to be patient
From what I know this is built into the sense 4 framework. I think if you get a hold of the apk it'll just force close when you try and use it. I'm sure the Inc S has a sense 4 port by now.
What i mean is make a home replacement launcher i think that would be really cool, and maybe make it support the sense 4 widgets but im not able to root, ive done it before, Virgin Mobile Canada told me they couldnt fix my charging port because of root access, resulting in a 200 dollar fee   also, maybe it could support multiple devices like WVGA, VGA, QHD, etc.

Yeap I know what you mean but I'm afraid that's all under the sense 4 framework. I'm not saying its impossible, its just really hard

[Q] no spelling correction option!!

Hi evebody
I just got my tab 2 10.1 today and one of the reasons I moved from my old tablet with honeycomb is the spellchecking option, the one that underline the wrong ones, but is not here!!!, after reading some post about it, there should be a spelling correction option in languages and inputs but there isn't, any idea what may be wrong here?
I REALLY meet it hehe
Thank in advance
Cheers!!
Tab 2 10.1 Spell Checker
Page 184 of the GT-P5113 user manual has the answer to your question....
Thanks mate, but that page just talk about the predictive text, which is the same as honeycomb Android. And like I said in my original post I'm looking for how to turn on the new "fancy" spellcheck system, just like office, which underlines all the wrong spelled words in a document.
Anybody????
Thanks
I would think that spell checking would be contingent on your word processing program. I'm hoping that you weren't expecting the tablet to spell check everything that it comes across.
Sent from my GT-P3113 using Tapatalk 2
Well supposedly ICS has a built in spell checker, you can see it the following link, just like in many others.
http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-4318?noredirect=true
And yes it's supposed to spell check in multiple applications
No body here is using it????
Cheers!
That is the stock ics (Google aosp) keyboard. Samsung has their own, and even my phone, has HTC trace as it's stock keyboard.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G with Beats Audio using Tapatalk 2
And does your HTC trace keyboard underline the wrong spelled words??
The Samsung keyboard doesn't
And do you have ics too?
Thanks
PD just another post about what I'm talking about
http://www.transformerforums.com/fo...lt-spell-check-android-word-processors-2.html
I actually finally ran into the red underlined spell check.. I was on the Nike store, and filling out my billing info of all places.. Unfortunately, I it was with my phone (ics).. I'll check with my tablet.
Sent from my GT-P3113 using Tapatalk 2
Don't worry. I know exactly what you mean, i had the feature on my Samsung vibrant running cm9. Now i use an HTC one s, which has ics/sense 4.0 with the HTC trace keyboard, but it still has the same feature. That feature is implemented into ics and operates independently from the keyboard. It seems though, that sammy took it out. It's not the only ics feature they took out, so them taking this one out doesn't come to a surprise. Either aosp based rom or sammy update is your only hope, just don't hold your breath on the latter.

no I've had spelling correction while filling out fields on the tablet. Click on a word when you are typing.
