[Q] [HELP] Phone won't boot after installation is complete - HTC Desire S

I bought HTC Desire S EUR version, and managed to install ARA MEA version:
Code:
MEA ROM RUU_Saga_HTC_ARA_1.36.415.6_Radio_20.28d.30.0805U_3805.04.02.01_M_release_187871_signed
via Goldcard and it worked fine.
Recently I installed the MIUI ROM, so I rooted my phone with revolutionary and Clockwork recovery. but the MIUI have no arabic character support.
I want to install this shipped ROM:
Code:
RUU_Saga_S_HTC_ARA_2.14.415.3_Radio_20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04_M_release_226003_signed
but the phone won't boot after installation is complete !! HTC logo only
Code:
-Revolutionary-
SAGA PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-6.98.1002
RADIO-3805.04.02.01_M
eMMC-boot
Mar 10 2011, 14:58:38
Please help me what to do to install it as I still can install the first RUU but not the second one.
Thanks for help. I really appreciate it.

@HobaMe
Step 1) Flash ENG HBOOT 0.98.200
Step 2) Run RUU 2.14.415.3
To flash the ENG HBoot you can use one of these methods;
1) Fastboot
-Place the .img file (extracted from PG88IMG.zip) in folder you have setup for adb/fastboot
-Boot phone into fastboot
-Run command "fastboot flash hboot engHBOOToverARX.img" in CMD
2) Updater file (PG88IMG.zip)
-Place file (PG88IMG.zip) on your SD card root, and boot into HBoot, and follow onscreen instructions

@foX2delta
Thank you, thank you, thank you..
It works like a charm.
Needed a Gold card after applying your HBoot due to error 131
Sense 3 is much better than the older one.
Thank you again.

The phone keeps restarting by itself...

UPDATE:
Did hard reset and everything is okay now.

Try a soft reset, if that doesn't work then try a hard reset.

[Q] Failed Cyanogen Installation -> Half-Bricked Desire S

Hello, members )
My story:
Since i never liked HTC Sense i tried to migrate to Cyanogen.
I performed the following steps:
1. Bootloader was unlocked with HTC site.
2. 4ExtRecovery installed.
3. Cyanogen "update-cm-7.1.0-DesireS-signed" was installed via 4Ext from sd card.
Now phone stucks at HTC logo. Access to bootmenu, recovery is available.

Have you made a backup of your previous ROM? If not try one of the custom sense roms or run the ruu without attached device, don't close the first window and search for the rom.zip, copy it to another folder and delete everything in the zip file except the system.img, rename it to pg88img.zip and flash it in bootloader or flash the image itself with fastboot.
As much as I know is your problem that with htcdev the kernel isn't unlocked and cause cyanogen needs another then sense, it doesn't work.

He's unlocked by htc dev
You can also try flashing the full package with all content from the rom.zip, but this sets also your unlocked state of the bootloader back and be sure that you use the latest version of the ruu.

Please can someone help me.
Thanks
Try this:
Take out your sd card, put in in your computer, delete the PG58IMG and put the SD back in the phone. Boot the bootloader, reboot into recovery, then install the rom of your choice.
Might not work, but it's worked before.

Your pg58img firmware didn't flash properly. In other words all your partition didn't get flash. That's why the Rom won't boot.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
Firmware not flashing because you did not Super CID your phone. Search in the this forum on the instructions. After doing this, reflash the firmware and then the ROM again
Yup had the exact same problem. Delete the pg58img off sd card from computer. Restore nandroid backup. Follow the install supercid instructions http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300 (step 4) reflash flash firmware from hboot, flash rom, rejoice!
Hello again
Thanks for the replies guys. I took out my micro sd card and i erased the .zip file. I loaded a new rom and now its working just fine. My question is do i have to do the CID thingy? ?
Also, what exactly was my problem?
The firmware was trying to flash automatically(because it found the PG58IMG), but your phone did not allow it (no SuperCID).
Deleting the file put it out of the loop. I would do the supercid and upgrade the firmware to move to an ICS rom. Happy flashing!
So
So if i do the CID i will be able to install any ICS rom?

Yes... SuperCID then flash the PG58 and you're good to go...
And remember, if you have a PG58IMG file on your sd card, you won't be able to use the bootloader at all without first removing the file.

(Help!) Attempted wrong firmware upgrade from 2.3.4 HTC Sensation Z710a

ok so i wanted to install the ICS on my android but it needed the 4.03 firmware but the 4.03 firmware needed a firmware from 3.x.x so i when to find one and now my device is bricked i can still flash to ROM but thats about it. i can turn it on and it just sits there with a white screen with a label saying "HTC". i have tried restoring from my ROM back ups since i got clock mod installed in the recovery menu i tried every thing i wiped every thing and when i flash or re flash a rom my HTC goes into a booting cycle. and my CID is supper cid and i remember my HBOOT being 1.18.000 but thats about it. i had stock firmware of 2.3.4
My phone had firmware with vodafone australia.
my SD card is intact but i think internal SD card is corrupted or what ever where ever the firmware gets flashed to.
and i cannot seem to find the original vodafone HTC Sensation 2.3.3 firmware so i could restore it and then update it to 2.3.4.

What md5 checksum do you want to check ?? There are many utilities to check md5 checksum on computer. Run superwipe script , then install Android Revolution HD 6.2.1 , You have the correct firmware for it. I can see.
I have a same problem.
Didn't read the thread very well and I upgraded the wrong firmware.
Now, I just see the ''HTC'' logo and after that it's only rebooting over and over again. I downloaded the firmware I needed, thought I will just replace it with this ''broken'' one, but I'm getting errors all the time. And after that, again rebooting.
HTC Sensation, S-Off, first firmware was 2.3.4.
Error is: ''CID incorrect, update fail'' in HBOOT.
Only way I can stop rebooting after that message is to take out the battery.
Anyone got any other solutions except the first answer?
Thank you in advance, sorry about my bad english.
NOTE: I'm a noob at this, just wanted ICS on my phone. So, please, explain it in ''moron language''

Pull the card out and boot it into hboot mode. Then to recovery. Mount your sd card. Plug it into your computer. Delete the incorrect firmware. Find a superwipe zip. Flash Zip. Then flash correct firmware.

It looks like you have a valid version of the Firmware (HBOOT 1.27.1100). However you need to understand that that version ONLY supports ICS ROMs, so it won't support your old ROM even if you recover it. Also as usual you should SuperWipe when changing things this dramatically.
As you still seem to be able to get into Recovery try the following:
i) Download the Superwipe Script from the ARHD thread, in the Downloads bit in he first post.
ii) Download a full ICS ROM, take your pick (my preference is Virtuous Inquisition 3.5).
iii)Copy the files over to the SD-card from your PC.
iv) Delete the PG59IMG.zip from the SD-card. (ADDED IN EDIT1)
In recovery, run the Superwipe Script. Then Install the ICS ROM. The first re-boot will take a few mins.
To check MD5s just get a free MD5 checker for your PC and also get one for the phone, when it's backup up and running.

You haven't detailed what your HBOOT is at the moment, what does it say if you go into BootLoader ?
As it's mentioning CID, I assume you didn't SuperCID the phone, not an issue just get the right one for you CID from:

After you update the Firmware you'll need to:
i) SuperWipe
ii) Install ICS ROM
iii) Remove the PG58IMG.zip file from the SD-Card.

Tried that, still stuck in the loop. I think half the firmware update has ran, then it has failed, so i need to roll back...
Download both the 3.30 and 3.12 FW. Open the 3.12 zip on your computer and replace just the Hboot file with the one from the 3.30 zip. Then flash the customized zip so you'll have the 3.30 fw with the 3.12 boatloader (1.23 not 1.27) and then flash a 3.30 Rom.
Some phones arent booting with the 1.27 bootloader that comes with the 3.24 and 3.30 fw.

You can superCID from fastboot. Put it in bootloader, connect USB, bootloader should say fastboot USB.
Follow sticky guide in dev forum.
Is the pg58img.zip still on your SD?
Sent from my Pyramid-T
I had the same problem when I first tried to flash a rom, you just have to find the right firmware for your CID, find yours here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767, and if you don't know your CID just superCID as shown in the guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300 and skip steps 5,6,7, just manually boot into bootloader.
If you want you can also see what I did on this thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1516373
The same thing happened to me

Are you s-off ? If you are S-OFF , then you need not have any file.
Just boot into bootloader.
Open a fastboot terminal in pc.
and type
fastboot oem writecid 11111111
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot getvar cid
After this you will get a reply like this CID : 11111111
If you are not S-OFF, then first install adb and fastboot in your pc from here for windows or from here for linux and follow this guide.
How To get your Hboot Version - 3 methods below
1. Run the revolutionary Utility you just downloaded from http://revolutionary.io/ and if it has found your device it should read
"Found your Device: HTC Sensation Z710* Applications -> Development)
4. With the phone switched on (not in HBOOT, just the regular home screen), plug in your USB cable and select HTC sync mode.(IGNORE any warning messages on your phone telling you it cannot find HTC Sync )
5. Launch revolutionary.exe. It should detect the phone and ask for your beta key. Type it (BE CAREFUL, as its case sensitive) or copy and paste it in.
If Revolutionary fails to find your phone verify you have all the drivers installed, try disk drive mode or charging mode (Linux users can use disk drive mode. Confirmed to be working by others)
6. Once you have entered your beta key correctly, follow any on screen prompts or actions from revolutionary and wait for it to S-Off,
7. You're done. Your Device will Successfully have S-OFF....if it hangs on method 3 and doesn't S-Off. See post 2 below for solutions.
IF REVOLUTIONARY SAYS FAILED YOUR PHONE IS NOT SUPPORTED. Go back and check hboot using the methods above. some users are told its failed and they still have S off now. If you have S-off your hboot will now be 1.17.1011 and revolutionary will tell you now your device is not supported
8. Revolutionary will now ask you to Install clockwork recovery mod after S OFF. Type N and install it manually below (the recovery provided is v4.0.1.4 doesn't charge when device is switched off, the one below v5.0.0.1 does charge)
9. Your Device now is S-off.

I have S-Off, but how do I Open a fastboot terminal in pc? Please excuse the newbeeness.
Thank you so much for the reply.
Open cmd prompt as admin (RT click)
cd to folder with fastboot drivers (e.g. cd C:/sdk/tools)
Connect in bootloader via USB, type "fastboot devices" and you should get a response with your serial number.
Enter commands as above!

You can superCID from fastboot. Put it in bootloader, connect USB, bootloader should say fastboot USB.
Follow sticky guide in dev forum.

By fastboot terminal I mean :
Open command prompt in windows.
CD to the directory where adb and fastboot installed ( generally platform-tools folder in the sdk).( Boot your phone into bootloader mode. and connect to pc)
Now type :
in the command prompt:
fastboot oem writecid 11111111
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot getvar cid

[Q] phone crashing after 5-10seconds on all ROMs :(

Hi all,
I have an HTC Sensation that i tried to update the ROM on, and am stuck!
I was running an old ICS + Ssense 3.5 ROM and decided to try JB .. wish i hadn't!
Phone is running the following
Bootloader info
Revolutionary-
PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.17.1111
RADIO-10.14.9035.02_2
eMMC-boot
June 2 2-11
updated kernel to
[KERNEL][JELLY BEAN][THE FASTEST] Sultan-kernel [r5]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2035897
updated ROM to
JB CM10 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1782009
both flashed sucessfully, however my phone now crashes within 5-10seconds of booting saying 'process.android.acore has stopped unexpectedly' and hangs, then reboots the phone and is stuck in that loop.
Cache was cleared before ROM was installed, and performed the following steps before trying to reflash
Wiped Cache
Performed Factory Reset
Formatted all partitions (except sd card)
I have tried 2 different roms, from a stock ICS rom to a different JB rom, but they all do the same thing .. boot, freeze, then reboot and repeat.
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

running 10.0.05 RC5 .. so that is a Kernel update and firmware update to 3.33 and now i just need the flash the ROM correct?
step 3 - install a ROM of my choice .. phone is still crashing
I have noticed the battery % is jumping all over the place .. from say 15% to 80% to 22% to 40% up and down .. perhaps i have a faulty battery which may be causing this

Hi,
PG58IMG.zip is just the package which contains what you want to flash.
It is the first thing the phone looks for when it is booted.
In this case you had 2 different things to flash:
Recovery
Firmware(which also includes radio)
What does your bootloader say now?

you have now 4ext recovery
but in order to boot JB CM10 you have to upgrade your firmware version(your hboot version and radio shows that you have gingerbread firmware)
the only you have to do is to flash 3.32fw or 3.33fw version from bootloader
and it must have the same name(pg58img.zip)

Hi,
NO.
PG58IMG.zip contains whatever is put in there so that the phone will read it and install it.
You must be very careful what you flash, and where you get it from.(Or you could brick your phone)
The link I gave you originally ( HERE ) contains very explicit instructions to
1. Install 4 EXT recovery
2. Install the next level of firmware you need to run ICS or JB ROMS.
It seems that you have the new recovery, but you do not appear to have installed the 3.33 Universal firmware.
The guide contains a link to the Kohr-Ah Firmware thread ( HERE )
There, you will get a different PG58IMG.zip which will contain the firmware and radio you need.
Like I said, follow the guide to the letter.

Thanks, i was getting confused with the PG58IMG.ZIP, but now that i understand its just a package wrapper it makes a lot more sense.
Apologies for getting confused and having to make you repeat yourself, i really appreciate the help you are giving me with the specific links

Hi,
I am not sure what you flashed.
Your hboot has been updated, but your radio has not.
Which one did you flash ?
From what thread?

Hi,
I have to go now.
Look HERE
Download this radio:
Radio_11.76A.3504.00P_11.24A.3504.31_M
Make sure you check the md5 checksums.
You can do this in recovery.
MAKE SURE THEY MATCH!!!
You should then be able to flash your ROM.

i have just tried to flash the Radio, however trying to do that advises CID Incorrect so i guess that is why the radio didn't work. I dont suppose anyone can advise how to fix the CID?
I need to do this via ADB right ? i have found the android-info in the zip i would need to modify ( i remember reading this somewhere ) but if soemone could point me to directions on how to find my CID and what i need to put exactly into the file would be appreciated
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
How to check your CID & MID:
You can do this one of the following ways.
1. fastboot load into the bootloader and do:
fastboot getvar cid
fastboot getvar mid
2. For those without fastboot you can use an app called CID Getter. CID is displayed at the top. MID is at the line ro.mid
This will not tell if you are SuperCID or not it just tells your original CID.
3. If you want to do it by terminal, open a terminal on the phone and do:
su
getprop ro.cid
getprop ro.mid
If it gives you the result of CID: 11111111 and MID PG58******
You are superCID. Use any file you like it doesn't matter they all work for you.

Go into recovery, into fastboot, then type the command in your pc terminal .

[Q] HELP! Way in over my head... trying to flash recovery.

So I recently purchased the T-Mobile version of the HTC-Sensation... since then I've been trying to flash a custom JellyBean ROM onto my device. I've rooted and flashed custom roms on previous phones but the process for this one has been extremely confusing. I've been mainly following this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1864053 I have the bootloader unlocked and I think I have S-Off, now I'm trying to flash a recovery image with the KSG utility but gives me a bunch of error messages that say FILE NOT FOUND - FASTBOOT.LOG and ACCESS DENIED and FILE NOT FOUND - ABD.LOG. I'm sorry if this is in the forum somewhere, but I've been working on this for hours and I can't figure this out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Additional Details: I'm running Android 2.3.4
When I boot into the bootloader it says

I unlocked the bootloader but got stuck trying to S-off. Everything was going fine until the part where I run the temp_root.bat because I cannot get HTC sync to recognize my phone no matter what I try. I was wondering if anyone had the original version that came on the SD card or if there is a way to gain S-off without using HTC sync? Or can I get Jellybean without gaining S-off? Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm pretty new this and feeling way in over my head here.

You are already s-off ,if you want to flash custom Rom flash 3.33 universal firmware (be careful when flashing check the md5 sum) after that flash 4ext recovery and flash new rom
Edit here is link for 3.33 firmware. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767.
sent from HTC Sensation 4G
@EmporerD
first you don't need a htc sync..
second your phone is already success s-off..you can see that in your bootloader state..
now i think maybe you already forgot the step to remove temp root from your phone after success s-off process..you can do that by running temp_root_remove.bat from the guide that you follow above..
after you had remove temp root from your phone..then you can continued to flashing a 3.33 firmware.. to do that..
just download firmware file from here....then copied that PG58IMG.zip file to the root directory of your sd card (the root directory mean is don't place it that file in any folder..just place it in your sdcard) you can copied that file with card reader..after that just put in back your sd card to the phone...then boot into bootoader..and wait until bootloader check it that file then ask you to updating it...just confirm it yes with vol up button..then wait until finish and ask you to confirm reboot with press power button..
after that you can continued installing custom recovery..
just download custom recovery.img file from here and extracted that zip file then copied that recovery.img file to your adb/sdk folder (the same place as your adb.exe and fastboot.exe folder)..then you flashing it through FASTBOOT with fastboot command "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"..done..now your phone already had a custom recovery..that are can installing any custom rom...
hope this help..
THANKYOU guys. This helps a lot. I'm going to call it a night for a now, but I will try your advice tomorrow and post updates.
@JJeamy
So I tried to remove the temproot by running the temproot-remove batch file, it didn't do anything so I downloaded the PG58IMG.zip and updated it in the bootoader, now phone is stuck in a bootloop...?
Update: I tried to continue with flashing the custom recovery, but the dialog just gets stuck on "waiting for device" ...
Update 2: Installing the older drivers for fixed the problem of flashing the recovery so my recovery works but it's still stuck in bootloop. Unfortunately I will probablyrun out of time before I can get a custom ROM flashed, but thanks everyone for your help I will update my progress later.

So I tried to remove the temproot by running the temproot-remove batch file, it didn't do anything so I downloaded the PG58IMG.zip and updated it in the bootoader, now phone is stuck in a bootloop...?

So you mean that you already had 3.33 firmware right...?
so you can continued installing custom recovery like what i told you above...then after that you can continued installing custom rom that you want...

Update: I tried to continue with flashing the custom recovery, but the dialog just gets stuck on "waiting for device" ...
Bootloader now reads:
-Firmware-3.33-
Pyramid PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.27.1100
RADIO-11.24A.3504.31_M

You are on the right path my friend you flashed 3.33 firmware so you hboot version is 1.27 that's way you experiance bootloop , because you have gb rom with ics hboot, so next step is to flash custom recovery!
To do that you need to have SDK files downloaded (Fastboot , adb files) and when you have that in the folder you got the files you copy your recovery img and that you open command window from there and you get your phone to fastboot (bootloader that fasboot) , that you write the command in the command window fasboot flash recovery recovery.img and you are done!
EDIT: here is guide how to find fastboot and Adb files you need http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1152148
and for flasing custom recovery follow this guide step 2 flashing recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631861
after that flash rom
and when you flash your first rom do format everything except sd card before flashing, (and make sure the first rom you flash is not kitkat because you may experiance difficulties when flashing)
So I managed to get recovery going, and I flashed CM 11 with 4.4 with no issue. : D
