[Q] Failed Cyanogen Installation -> Half-Bricked Desire S - HTC Desire S

Hello, members )
My story:
Since i never liked HTC Sense i tried to migrate to Cyanogen.
I performed the following steps:
1. Bootloader was unlocked with HTC site.
2. 4ExtRecovery installed.
3. Cyanogen "update-cm-7.1.0-DesireS-signed" was installed via 4Ext from sd card.
Now phone stucks at HTC logo. Access to bootmenu, recovery is available.
I tried to flash RUU_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.5_Radio_20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04_M_release_219480_signed.exe but it ends with an error.
Phone data:
***UNLOCKED***
SAGA PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-2.00.0002
RADIO-3822.10.08.04_M
eMMC-boot
Any chance to recover phone functionality?
Thanx in advance.

Have you made a backup of your previous ROM? If not try one of the custom sense roms or run the ruu without attached device, don't close the first window and search for the rom.zip, copy it to another folder and delete everything in the zip file except the system.img, rename it to pg88img.zip and flash it in bootloader or flash the image itself with fastboot.
As much as I know is your problem that with htcdev the kernel isn't unlocked and cause cyanogen needs another then sense, it doesn't work.
Swyped from my Desire S

flashed pg88img.zip via bootloader. no effect, still hangs on white HTC logo screen (

first thing you should do is to go s-off, then you can install custom roms.

He's unlocked by htc dev
You can also try flashing the full package with all content from the rom.zip, but this sets also your unlocked state of the bootloader back and be sure that you use the latest version of the ruu.

seems like RUU_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.5_Radio_20.4801.30. 0822U_3822.10.08.04_M_release_219480_signed.exe is te latest but it ends with an error.
I have already tried a few roms, but the result is the same HTC logo screen

You need to manually flash the boot.img from CM 7.1 when you have the unlocked bootloader.

But i dont have cyanogen anymore since i tried to flash other roms.
Shall i install CM rom via 4extrecovery and then flash boot.img in fastboot?
I am ready to get back Sense because now nothing works (

Mr tpbklake , you do the magic!!
Everything works thanx!!
So,
1. CM rom was flashed in 4EXT
2. /boot was formatted
3. fastboot flash boot boot.img was performed (boot.img from the same rom)

[Q] Custom recovery

This is the 6th device I've "customised" but none of them has been as difficult as this. It's certainly put me off ever buying an HTC device.
Here is its status:
UNLOCKED
SAGA PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT - 2.00.0002
RADIO - 3822.10.08.04_M
eMMC-boot
I have permroot from adp (it doesn't go straight to the # prompt, I have to su)
I've installed 4EXT Recovery Classic but that just leads to the red triangle and the standard recovery.
Suggestions would be most welcome!
I'm sure you need to s-off your phone. Search the forums for tutorial..
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App
@BritSwedeGuy
If unlocked by HTCdev you don't need s-off.
Try download the recovery image and flash it in fastboot.

You can flash (by other Recovery) the custom ROMs based on stock kernel only.
Flashing other ROMs - white screen.
S-Off needed for FULL freedom.

Bootloader still locked.

Hi guys,
I have a problem i followed the guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
to S-Off my new HTC Sensation XE from O2 which was succseful and as per the guide i chose N to the option to install Clockwork recovery.
When i then followed the steps to install recovery after it just will not work have tried many different methods including ADB but it just fails to install
after some digging i have discovered that unusually when i loot the bootloader screen it does say that the device is S-off however the pink bar at the top that normally says unlocked is saying locked which is why i am guessing any installs keep failing.
Anyone know how to fix this please, thanks in advance.
You've not fully S-OFF'd it yet...run Revolutionary it again until it asks you to flash CWM. Say yes to it and then you're good to go
Thanks for the reply, i tried that but it now says my device is not supported in revolution

I have rooted my ds with revolutionary and downgraded my hboot.
My Hboot seems to be 6.98.1002.
It might have came with the endymion rom, which did not work. (But still the phone worked.)
I forgot to say that I installed cwm recovery, but after I installed the RUU it did not work.

You're still using the HBOOT installed by AlphaRev. I may be wrong here, but there is a chance that the stock HTC ROM is incompatible with the HBOOT you currently have on your device. What RUU did you install?
You may need to go back to an original 0.98 HBOOT or install an engineering HBOOT for the stock ROM to work properly.
You're right, RUU is not compatible with 6.98.1002.
Load to bootloader, then connect your phone with USB and push any rom with ADB, then install it from recovery.

I cannot do that, my recovery is HTC stock as the cwm recovery got off when I installed the RUU
Have you tried booting into fastboot (Power + vol down) and flashing CWM or something using fastboot flash recovery recovery.img?
Then you should be able to use this tutorial to get back to stock.
That's what I did anyway. Hope it works for you.

[q] help please, unlocked s-on stuck on boot

Hi everyone,
I have unlocked my Sensation XE (EU) using HTC dev my bootloader shows a pink ***UNLOCKED*** at the top. I have loaded Team Win Recovery using Sensation All in One Kit. Wiped the phone and tried loading a custom ROM but it gets stuck on the white HTC screen All my attempts at trying to gain s-off have failed. Is there a way to gain S-OFF without using the Sensation All in One Kit as i am getting device not found due to it not being in the os but bootloader. I can't seem to flash any ROMS using Team Win Recovery because of s-on?
When trying to flash RUU I am getting invalid image or some error about bootloader, think this is die to already being on hboot 1.29, I just need to figure out how to gain s-off and all my problem I think will be solved. My problem, I have root, s-on, Team Win Recovery with no bootable OS at the moment, cannot use 4ext as it does not load for some reason. but when flashing zips in Team Win Recovery I get stuck on HTC screen. It's like its failing to write to some partitions because of s-on?

[Q] Stuck with installing custom rom

Hello,
I'm trying to root my HTC Sensation and install a custom ROM. I've read dozens of thread's and I followed them, as far as I can tell, how it supposed to.
Now I am at the point where I should install the new ROM from my SD card (phone is S-OFF using ControlBear.exe). But that isn't going so well. I can boot in hboot and select recovery, after that the phone reboots and nothing happens. When I regulary boot my phone it stay's in the HTC splash screen...
Is it possible that I removed everything on my phone and cannot recover anymore? And if so, how can I recover from my stupid mistake
